We got in late and went down for breakfast at 8:10 - breakfast was done. The person in charge of the breakfast was gracious enough to make us some hot biscuits and gravy (thank you).

Mmarbut (6/5): The lady that did our check out Sunday was awesome. - We didn’t stay for breakfast. Check in host didn’t let us know which room was the Handicap. Having shower bars would have been easier for me. Joined rooms would have been better. Ground floor would have been excellent and easier even with the elevator.
Shannon (3/5): Will not return - The hotel was quiet. Good location for getting onto the highway or accessing the city. The air conditioning worked in the room. There was a large trash bin near the elevator that we could empty our trash into. Large parking lot. This hotel also services the oil field, so the breakfast was picked over and there was little to choose from. Breakfast ran from 5:30-8:00 and I was there at different times and found the same thing each time. The only constant were eggs every day. One day the milk was out, one day there were no cups for coffee, one day there was no bread. The bathroom had long black hairs that did not belong to us on the floor and in the tub. The room had an unpleasant odor. The work out room had a rack that once held free weights and now only had one 30 pound, and one 10 pound weight. The front staff woman NEVER greeted us. We were there for almost 2 weeks. Not once did she acknowledge us as we walked in or out of the hotel. There was a laundry room on our 3rd floor, but nothing was operational, we had to use the laundry on the main floor. The freezer part of the small fridge in the room was frozen over, for apparently a long time, and was not usable.

Breakfast was great I was there for 37 days and had so many different breakfast options. Housekeeping ladies are awesome 👏. I will definitely stay at Black Gold on my next trip.

R4157XKalexisg (2/5): Absolutely disgusting don’t stay here - Place is absolutely disgusting. Rooms weren’t cleaned at all other people’s trash was still in the rooms no fresh sheets. Do not stay here it’s absolutely foul. When asked for them to clean then they responded that “ they had no staff available ” but then they said the staff lives at the hotel. We had to wait for clean towels because there weren’t any.

It wasn't vacuumed, swept or mopped. If you need somewhere to just lay your head and dont care much abut cleanliness this will work.

I probably won’t be back for anything more t - The staff was very nice, Marcus was very professional and accommodating. Breakfast was pretty decent. Very basic, water backed up in the shower and sink, very noisy during morning and evening hours and the beds were hard.

One of the employees (Osiris) was absolutely superb, friendly and extremely helpful. I loved every second of my stay, and would 110% consider staying again if I’m ever again in Stanley. Kim (4/5): filthy, noisy, gross - This hotel is NOT a family friendly hotel and the bar has been set really low for cleanliness and accommodations. This is a hotel that you stay at if you want something below a Motel 6. The shower curtains were moldy, showers were hair covered, beds were definitely from the early 2000's, the fabric on every chair in the hotel and all the carpets in the hotel were absolutely filthy. The room smelled like smoke. A group of oil workers decided to have a fiesta outside our room window (we were saved only by a rainstorm), there is no cleaning staff on weekends at all, so keep your towel. FULL breakfast does not mean a sit down restaurant, it means continental breakfast but unless you want to sit on chairs that are some inexplicable shade of green with grey and black filth, go somewhere else to eat. Sure this is good for oil workers who just want the four S's but for anyone looking for clean affordable accommodations, go to Motel 6 or Super 8!!

Rooms are clean and spacious, Tasty breakfast and dinner, and friendly staff that are always ready to help! Surprisingly fast internet, which makes working a breeze! Cool lobby area with a pool table, and Gym on the 3rd floor! Also has a treat/snack area for a late night snack. Recommend to anyone!

They even offer complimentary breakfast AND dinner!! That saved me so much from having to eat out! Will definitely be staying here again!

The room was clean, the bedding was clean (but pillows were lumpy), the bathroom was clean and stocked but there were no plastic cups in the room. The facility was clean & quiet. We utilized the dining area for a family gathering during the evening and morning of our stay. The area had a pool table, which we enjoyed as well. Overall, it was better than I expected for a small town in ND and a better place to stay than other hotels we have been in much larger cities. I would recommend this hotel to others.

588lanceb (10/5): Top notch Hospitality, If you need a place to stay in Stanley this is by far my first choice, Hands Down!! - I have nothing but good things to say about BGS in Stanley ND. The staff is incredibly hospitable and will make your stay feel as if your at a five star hotel. It's hard to get a good meal around this town but if you choose BGS you'll get a great breakfast and is included, not to mention a hot meal waiting for you after work on the week days and these Ladies can cook. This is a no brainier.

Ann (8/5): Great for Low Maintenance Guests - We stayed at the BGS for 7 days during a family vacation and received a great rate I had secured months in advance. This hotel is great if you are low maintenance, like oil field workers, because the hotel service (breakfast, towels, cleanliness) for a routine stay was not great. Breakfast was bad, they were consistently out of juice, cups, plates and cereal. Every morning the coffee was cold to luke warm. This all could be byproducts of the shear volume of oil field worker residents. The staff was super friendly and attempted to make things right, but the circumstances caused by the supply and demand was out of their hands.

Will probably try a different hotel next time we are in Stanley ND. Also the toilet rocked and only two bath towels. Ice machine was broke down. Had to go up to second floor for ice.

brandondQ3404CV (10/5): Great Staff Great Hotel - This hotel is great, we travel for work and it's great to find a hotel that treats you like family and provides great customer service. Breakfast was one of the best we have had in a hotel, so many choices and always changing. Manager and her staff made sure all our needs were taken care of, even making sure we received housekeeping at non scheduled times, which I'm sure was a pain. So much different (better) than it was back when we stayed in June 2018. Hopefully our company sends us back to the area.
Andrea (4/5): Little sketchy - Least expensive in town, they didn’t clean our room for two day and breakfast was sad.

Verified traveler (2/5): Not a fan - Room went uncleaned for a day, nobody was at the service desk for check in, i had to call the hotel to get someone there after waiting 10 minutes.
MJF532 (4/5): Looked good from the outside - In the heart of the oil fields it's clientele seems to mostly be the men who are working hard out there. The hotel smelled of the oil, the rooms showed very hard use, my son got a lesson in what the oil workers do in their time off when he went down to breakfast and my husband got into the middle of a domestic dispute between 2 drunks when he went to load the car. The breakfast was not something I would even touch. Even though we were very tired and hungry we should have kept driving.
Verified traveler (6/5): Facilities vs staff - The motel is a very nice facility. It needs to be better managed with better staff. They let the food and coffee run out in the breakfast area. The staff was not customer friendly.
Ervin (2/5): - My son was bit by something and the smell of the room was so bad. Check in was worse, took a long time for them to find our reservation. Lady didn’t seem like she knew what she was doing
Lisa (2/5): Bed Bugs - Horrible, bed bugs. The entire 3rd floor was already closed down but the bed bugs migrated. One room the bed was unmade and bugs were just laying there. Another room we had fully unpacked and laid down to sleep then felt bugs crawling on us. As we were leaving that room we noticed a mouse trap that had 2 dead mice and one was already decaying. Immediately left to stay at a near by hotel. Hoping the bugs don't follow us to that hotel or back in our homes.
BMW2wheels (6/5): Not so good - Shorthanded, one girl to tend the front desk and the breakfast area. Housekeeping marginal, filthy Windows, dusty surfaces. Bring your own soap, shampoo, lotion as you won't get any here. Elbow grease could make this a good place...as is I resent the tab.
