• Klaus (5/5): Schade - Die Lage und die Umgebung. Das Frühstück war ausreichend aber nicht mehr. An allen 3 Tagen kein Zimmerservice trotz Nachfrage. Keine Steckdose beim Bett vorhanden. Wir haben während unserem Aufenthalt von Dienstag bis Freitag nur beim Frühstücken jemanden vom Hotel angetroffen. Leider keinerlei Wohlfühlerlebnis. Da hat das Preis- Leistungsverhältnis absolut nicht gepasst.

Ein schwarzwälder Hotel welches sich vom Stil perfekt in die wunderschöne Landschaft rindügt. Von der Famile betrieben. Man fühlt sich ein wenig zuhause....😍 Tolles reichhaltiges Frühstück, gemütliche Zimmer mit einer schönen Aussicht in die Natur, freundliche und sympathische Mitarbeiter, gute Küche. Fazit: Hier passt Alles 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻❤️ Dass wir nur eine Nacht hier sein konnten....😪

• Caroline (6/5): Pleasant - The staff were great- very attentive and friendly. However, cleanliness was poor, with rust, dirt and torn bedsheets. The hot water didn’t work well either. On the bright side, the location was great, it’s pet-friendly (but you need to inform it on your reservation) and the breakfast was simple but good. Dinner was hit or miss - the soup was great, but the rest wasn’t as good.
• Gueorgui (9/5): A nice place to discover Schwarzwald/Black Forest and to see the source of Breg/Danube - We stayed in this property 3 nights in August 2024 and had wonderful time. Everything was as per the descriptions. It was very quiet at nights, so close to the source of Breg/Danube and a good starting point for walks/hiking in Schwarzwald/Black Forest.

• Denise (10/5): A relaxing stay in wonderful family run guest house in the heart of stunning Black Forest - Exceptional location in the heart of the Black Forest surrounded by beautiful scenery and great walks. The guest house is beautifully appointed and every care is taken with presentation throughout. The breakfasts were excellent and we enjoyed fantastic, tasty evening meals. The hosts think of everything to meet the needs of travellers and at the same time are true to Black Forest natural products. We loved it. The warmth of the welcome from the owners of this wonderful family run business and their care for their guests is truly exemplary. It was all brilliant!

Typical of the best of German Gasthouses. Spotless, well equipped room with balcony and the best filled mini-bar ever. Very friendly staff and a nice though very busy restaurant. Good breakfast. Beware that the restaurant is closed Wed/Thurs

But even after that we found dirty underwear ( from previous guest) in the shower under the sink... So having said all that - the cleaning needs better attention!
• Cristina (10/5): - We had a lovely time at Höhengasthaus Kolmenhof. The location is beautiful with lots of nice hiking paths around the property. There was as indoor and an outdoor playground for the kids which were great!!! The food at the restaurant was delicious and the staff was friendly and helpful. The room was spacious for a family of 2 adults plus 2 small children and nicely decorated. The only down side is that the restaurant closes for 2 nights a week so one must organize an alternative on these days (they were helpful with good suggestions nearby).

• Manyaus (10/5): Tidy, cozy, sweet schwarzwald gasthaus - The house is amazing, restaurant is the examplary of a German cuisine. Hosts are very sweet in a natural manner, doing their best to take care of their guests. The gasthaus has a sauna. Room was good. The mountain road (last 1.7 km) is tricky. If you are a novice driver, it is challenging.

WiFi in restaurant/break room. Great walking/bike routes. Dogs allowed in hotel & restaurant. Negatives: hotel is in the middle of nowhere. First night had lots of noise. No WiFi in room. Restaurant closed Wednesday/Thursday nights. It took 3 days to get a perfect hard boiled egg.

• Verified traveler (6/5): High altitude. Snow tires needed in Autumn - We were visiting the black forest to enjoy the autumn leaves. We were not expecting this hotel to be so high up in the mountains where it was snowing. We even checked weather forecast for city listed in address where no snow was mentioned but this is much further up the mountain. Unpaved street leads to hotel which is not plowed for snow. Scary drive. The rooms and accommodations are lovely. Kids enjoyed small play room. Helpful staff. Food was very limited and not good. Milk was spoiled at breakfast. We would have eaten somewhere else but were stranded in the snow...in October!

• Paul (10/5): Loved it! - This is a top choice. Know what it is though, this is a rustic gasthous hotel in the middle of hiking and ski country. About 15 beautiful minutes drive to Triberg. Quiet, comforting and good food. We arrived late just after the restaurant closed, but they offered to make us a local cold meat and cheese tray that was awesome. Next night’s dinner also super. Yes we read other review about thin curtains... blah, blah, blah...stay in the Hilton next time. This is splendid country ambiance at its best and is very Germany. Bring your family and enjoy this great place.

Booked the family room with two separate bedrooms, but had to go through the children’s bedroom at night to use the bathroom. Room had a weird musty smell on arrival and so we had to open the windows, which brought in all kinds of bugs unfortunately. Lots of flies in the restaurant and on the food. Breakfast very meager, we arrived before 9 while breakfast was until 10, but it was not replenished (when we asked we were simply told there was no more) and so we did not have any croissants or ham. We had expected more of this place! Reviews seemed good, but we would not recommend. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere!

• Stuart (10/5): Nice hotel - We stayed here for one night on the way back from Bavaria on a motorbike trip. The hotel is in a remote area of the Black Forest, which we liked, and was fairly easy to find. The hotel is very near the source of the River Danube. The food was very good, the evening meal was excellent and good value, the breakfast is a continental style buffet. The only thing we didn't like were the flies but I'm guessing that's due to being in the woods. There was free WiFi but it was limited to basic browsing and emails and was initially difficult to log into.
