Mcebisi (10/5): - Sugar Hill Minor Guesthouse truly felt like a home away from home. This was not my first time staying there, and once again the experience was exceptional. The atmosphere is always warm and welcoming, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the hosts are incredibly friendly and helpful. A peaceful place to relax, with a large family. I would definitely recommend it and gladly stay again.

Graham (10/5): Quiet very comfortable Guesthouse at a good price. They dont do breakfast but town is close for that - Close to town and very friendly staff. Price excellent value for money.Beautiful garden and view of country farms. Had access to the kitchen & laundry at no extra cost. We were given fruit from their garden to take home. Will be back. We dont have great expectations but good clean rooms, hot water and happy environment is what we like. We dont like to be pampered but as long as staff can attend to minor requests make it comfortable.

The staff is friendly and graham and his family are wonderful people that can give you great advice on local things to do and also do Zulu village tours. If he’s around, I’d encourage people to talk to him as he’s a man with incredible stories to tell! :)

Mrs Mhlamvu (1/5): - We made our booking online, and it was confirmed. However, upon arrival, we were told that there was no record of our booking. We presented all the necessary information confirming our reservation, but we were still given a dirty room. The next day, while we were at church, we returned to find that our room had been opened and all our belongings had been moved without our consent. I was extremely upset, and it was very unprofessional to move our belongings in our absence. Additionally, the lady who identified herself as the owner was quite rude. Some of our church members who were also staying there experienced similar issues — their bags were removed from their rooms and placed at reception because those rooms had been rebooked. This raises serious concerns about how bookings are managed. Why would new bookings be accepted when the rooms were already occupied? Our fellow members had to find alternative accommodation at short notice. Overall, I was very disappointed with our experience this time. This was our second visit, and it’s unfortunate because our first stay — when we were assisted by Austin — was truly amazing.

He said I must wait and later opened another, which was much better. My first experience with them was far better than this one.

For some reason the owner rolled up from the golf club and decided to engage us in a full on political debate. This mostly consisted of him foisting his right wing political views on us. Very bizarre, but I got the impression he had enjoyed a few drinks!
