• Philip (9/5): Excellent hotel, will definitely use again. - Really enjoyed our overall stay, restaurant was excellent and the bar with live music was enjoyable. The staff even offered us an early breakfast on the Sunday as we were going to play golf, which was greatly appreciated.

Lovely clean rooms, comfortable. 2 of our friends rooms the heating wasn’t working but were supplied with heaters. Manager always asked if everything was alright. Food was amazing , even had a great gluten free options for my hubby who is caeliac. (No problems whatsoever). Highly recommend and we Will definitely be back

Breakfast in the morning was delightful - cereal etc available from a buffet, and hot drinks and cooked food available to order. All staff were friendly and helpful. Also had a lovely dinner at the Cornkist. Would definitely stay again if in the area!

• Roving24449948370 (8/5): An above average pub lunch with some minor road-bumps along the way - I came here with my girlfriend earlier in the week for a good old slap up pub lunch, we had no booking but knew we needed something of the aforementioned style. So we chose the new inn hotel. When we arrived the place was empty, which filled me with equal amounts of optimism (as we wouldn’t be waiting too long for food) and worry, as I started to consider maybe the pub was intentionally avoided by the locals? The menu we were given was fantastic - it tailored every need for every type of person, with burgers, steaks, mac and cheese, and even some oriental dishes were on offer, however I wasn’t impressed for much longer as the waitress who served us promptly informed us that the grill was out of order - i was strung with melancholy and frustration at this point as my intention was to have a beef burger, however I didn’t let this curtail the meal, or my mood for too long. I ordered a mac and cheese, with salt and pepper chips, with some prawn cocktail sandwiches too. The mac and cheese was fantastic, creamy, stringy, and had that sharpe edge that all Mac and cheeses need. The prawn cocktail sandwiches were also delectable, creamy, tangy, and fresh prawns, on a fluffy piece of white bread. However, I was deflated by the salt and pepper chips, which were soggy, and didn’t have much taste beyond a strong hint of pepper. I certainly didn’t leave the new inn feeling disappointed, but would I say it was incredible? Probably not. But would I say it was what I was after. Yes I would, and I would recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

• pl740 (10/5): Great stay - We enjoyed our stay here in an itison deal Saturday to Monday. . The staff were all friendly and organised and everything went smoothly. We were happy with our room and breakfast were fab. The hotel has a great resturant which we eat at on Saturday night and the there was live music on in the bar. Out and about we enjoyed a walk along the river and visited Slains Castle and Cruden Bay which had a fab cafe Harbour Dunes. We walked to the large Brewdog pub/ venue on Sunday ( 30 min walk) for our tea and a few beers/ciders. A very enjoyable weekend
• EdinburghBren (10/5): Thank You - We recently stayed at the New Inn Ellon, it was a gift from our family. We had seen there had been mixed reviews. We found it was a great base for a 2-day trip up to the Highlands. On our way we took in the Exclusive Highlands event at Balmoral Castle, a stunning backdrop, and stopped off for a break in lovely Ballater. On the way south we popped into the wonderful garden centre at Raemoir (close to Banchory) and then Glendoick (near Perth), via country and main roads. This time of year the hotel was quiet but it was popular with the locals, who we joined for the regular quiz in the bar. Our room was fine. It was spacious, clean, the bed was comfortable, nothing was sophisticated to use (for instance TV, shower, coffee/tea facilities, temperature). We ate in the bar and were able to choose from the bar or restaurant menu. The fisherman’s platter was on the special menu that night and was excellent. The pea & mint ravioli was also excellent. There was a good choice of wines and it was a really nice touch to get a complimentary drink on our arrival. The breakfast was lovely, there was a continental option and you could pick a hot meal from the menu. All through our stay the staff were really friendly, most were young and helped you with a smile. It feels like there is a good team behind the New Inn and you should consider it as a base for the area, including if you want to spend time in Aberdeen.

• Carl (10/5): Really lovely experience - Honestly this was a lovely one night spontaneous trip, booked that morning and checked in later that evening, very fast and efficient, the staff were fantastic, the room was super comfy, facilities all clean, the food at the restaurant was to die for! The waitresses helped me choose what to eat and their suggestions were perfect! Bar was great value for money too Will definitely stay here again if I'm in the area! The room was a little cold as I don't think I got the heating setting sorted or it wasn't working, wasn't a big deal at all and could very well be user error! Also the WiFi was very intermittent, again not a complaint and it's a bit of a 1st world problem!

Lovely coffee shops, Baker and chipper all close by. Breakfast was a treat, the fish with black pudding and poached egg this morning was best hotel breakfast I have ever had. Staff were lovely and accommodating. Would recommend staying there if in the part of Scotland. Very noisy, as hotel houses a pub and a restaurant and there seemed to be a couple functions on. This in itself was expected as I knew about the pub etc however, after hours there was a lot of door banging etc. Didn’t sleep well because of that.
