Guest Reviews
- Garner (8/5): Browns. - Very clean and well presented and spacious rooms. Apart from the bathroom. The noises in the room were quite disruptive while sleeping, I.e. the Electric pumps and fridge.
Attempting to wash in the bath being 6ft tall i found it difficult and awkward to use the bath to wash.
- Jo (10/5): Wonderful Hotel, great room & amazing breakfast - Very comfortable spacious room. Large comfortable bed! The breakfast was amazing. NA
- Paul (9/5): -
- Guto (10/5): - Everything excellent as usual. Nothing.
- Esther (9/5): Super fijn hotel - Fijn warm hotel alles is in evenwicht
- Yann (8/5): -
- Guto (10/5): - Room, food, wine. Just superb. Nothing.
- Jayne (10/5): Great find and excellent value for money - Delicious hot breakfast. Friendly staff. Great location. Room was spacious, clean and ad all facilities/provisions required eg hairdryer, heater/fan, tea/coffee, iron. Easy access to room if returning after bar is closed. not applicable
- Richard (9/5): - Food in Dexter's fantastic as always, all staff friendly and helpful.
- Siobhan (9/5): -
- Lynda (9/5): -
- Elizabeth (8/5): Very enjoyable - Authentic Stairs
- steve (9/5): -
- Judith (10/5): Just excellent - we were on,y there for a night but would definitely thunk about returning for a longer stay. - Perfect location, interesting building, well maintained, good parking.
The staff were lovely and very helpful. Nothing
- Lesley (10/5): Overall memorable stay and staff contributed significantly to this experience. - Every aspect of this stay exceeded expectations. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food (dinner and breakfast) both were excellent quality - fresh, lovely quality and beautifully cooked. All adding to the overall experience. We are ‘older’ people with some mobility issues so the stairs were a challenge but the staff on duty carried our cases to the room. Much appreciated.

- Mark (9/5): Nice spot for a night or two in a lovely boutique hotel in a charming village - Great character, excellent food
- Williams (9/5): -
- Andrew (8/5): - The staff were all very helpful and friendly.
Our room was fantastic and the breakfast was amazing. I knew the restaurant in the hotel was a grill style, but very little choice for 3 of our party that are vegetarian.
- Allan and Liz (9/5): Food to die for. - Food out of this world. Very deep bath with no grab handles.
- Old (9/5): Very comfortable. Good value. - The breakfast was busy on my second morning. There was a group of eight American golfers. They were loud! That’s not your fault but I was kept a long time waiting to give my breakfast order. You did your best but staff were stretched. Actually when I walked in from the car park, following a sign to Reception, the reception desk through the lounge was a little hard to find and I ended up in the bar to ask. A small thing but easily fixed! Separately, my stay was in May, and the hotel generally, including my room, was a bit too hot.

- Markus (10/5): - Sehr authentisch! Genau so sollten alle Hotels in diesem Stil sein!
- Julia (7/5): Lovely location clean friendly hotel - Great location - quirky hotel and room - good breakfast - clean - lovely sitting area outside Bath was difficult as it was so large and you couldn’t use shower as a shower.
Next time upgrading the room I would add USB ports and put in a shower. This room is not suitable for those unsteady on feet as lots of steps to the room and steps and fire doors from bedroom to bathroom. If you want to instantly improve customer experience I would offer some home cooked or better quality biscuits.
- Heather (9/5): Beautiful. - The ambience, the staff and the food. The early breakfast, a later breakfast would be nicer.
- lyndon (8/5): - Room a little small and dark.
- Hugh (9/5): Great little hotel with wonderful literary connections - Friendly greeting on arrival, lovely spacious, well equipped room. Delicious cockle, bacon and laverbread souffle for breakfast. Great meal in Dexters Restaurant in the evening and a few superb pints of Felinfoel Dragon's Blood to go with it.

- Christine (9/5): West Wales delight - All the staff were friendly, pleasant and very helpful. The room was extremely comfortable with heaters and a ceiling fan. There was bottled water in a mini fridge. Excellent breakfast. Good off road parking. Will definitely return. We stayed at the front of the hotel so some traffic noise but this didn't disturb us or affect our stay.
- Valerie (9/5): Enjoyable and relaxing. - Lovely room, comfy bed. Excellent breakfast. We found the restaurant very dark and dungeon like. We wished we had booked a table in the bar.
The food was tasty but rather on the cold side.
- Dave (10/5): Very welcoming, stylish hotel - Great value
Very comfortable
Beautiful restaurant Nothing
- Alison (10/5): Perfect stay in a lovely hotel - The hotel is steeped in history, yet is modern, laid back and cosy. The staff are happy and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Our dog was given so much attention, she loved it. Both the breakfast and dinner were delicious. As the weather was nice we sat outside for drinks in the pretty, quiet courtyard. It was a perfect stay, will definitely visit again soon Nothing
- Sarah Rebecca (10/5): - Room , roll top bath, spacious, lovely decor throughout, great bar, convenient location, parking. Breakfast was lovely too. Late check in early check out
- Edwin (9/5): Great work stop over - Always a great stop over in my job role nothing
- Pamela (10/5): - Everything Nothing

- Philip (10/5): Brilliant stay at The Brown's Hotel Laugharne - Warm welcome.Stayed in St Ishmael room which is on the ground floor. Suited us perfectly. Lovely garden where we enjoyed pre dinner drinks in the sunshine. Parking is at a premium in Laugharne but Brown's has its own. We dined in Dexter's @ Brown's restaurant . The food was absolutely outstanding. Service discreet and prompt. After an excellent night's sleep we breakfasted well in the dining room before heading home. That this was a repeat visit and that we fully intend to return is testament as to how highly we recommend this establishment. Nothing.
- Natalie (4/5): Unfortunate visit. - Our fourth stay at Browns..love the history, the decor and location. Rooms are well decorated and large in size. There was a power cut, which cannot be helped. However I had booked Dexters (the restaurant) for our anniversary meal and was told our meal would have to be cancelled. The power came back on by 6:45pm but all meals had been cancelled and staff sent home. We had a take away pizza. I asked the manager was there progress or if the bar was open but I felt dismissed. He said the electric will probably go back off again anyway and didn't mention the bar being open. We spent the night in our room and felt uncomfortable. A little gesture knock on the door to check in or invite back to the bar would have been appreciated.
- Nigel (9/5): Have stayed at Browns 3 times and each time has been excellent. Can’t wait to return - Rooms, food, service and friendly / efficient staff Struggled to park my car this time
- Katie (10/5): Another superb stay at Browns hotel. - This is our second stay at Browns hotel, the room was superb with a comfortable bed, roll top bath and everything we needed for our stay. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the staff are welcoming. We had a wonderful meal in Dexters at Browns restaurant followed by drinks in the bar. The hotel is situated perfectly for exploring Laurghne with the castle and Dylan Thomas's boat house only a short walk away. Everything was perfect.
- Jason (10/5): -
- Darren (10/5): - Loved the room, food was fantastic. Missed breakfast as serving finishes early at 9.30
- Clive (10/5): - We loved everything about this hotel. It was very atmospheric, especially fir Dylan Thomas fans. The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was delicious and the rooms splendid. The pino grigio wine!
- Judy (10/5): Impressive! - Everything! Beautiful room, friendly staff, easy parking. Nothing
- Evan (9/5): -
- Sandra (9/5): -
- Alan (8/5): It was just what the wife and I needed to recharge our batteries, totally relaxed. - The room was clean, tidy and comfortable, and the food was outstanding, and the staff very friendly and helpfull. We would cerainly go there again, if only for the quality of the food. While our own fault as such for not taking a usb adapter plug for charging our phones or laptop, it would help if at least one of the sockets had a usb port
- Drew (6/5): Great breakfast - Location Very noisy . Drunks couldn’t get in , key code and made a lot of noise
- Debra (10/5): Stunning hotel in one of most peaceful location. - Beautiful room, comfy, clean and quiet. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was really good.
- Graham (7/5): Good place to stay. - Brilliant location in the centre of Laugharne. Walking distance to everything in town. Professional, friendly staff. I know pillows are subjective but for me they were very hard, uncomfortable pillows. Cold shower in my first room but I was quickly moved to another room with a lovely hot shower. The staff handled the problem very well. Bit of mould around the edges of the shower floor. The rest of the room was clean.
- Michelle (10/5): relaxing - amazing food and room quiet dog friendly and that its got amazing food and super comfy bedroom with lovely walks
- Joanna (10/5): Fabulous. Very atmospheric and genuinely warm and hospitable. - Good food. Clean. Friendly staff.
- Michael (10/5): - Lovely spacious room with everything you need available The sound of 3 loads of bottles being emptied into a truck at 6am in the morning.
- Edwin (9/5): Nice stop over for work - Great location and Breakfast everything was fine
- Catrin (9/5): Great stay, would recommend - Beautiful room and roll top bath Could hear a buzzing from the electricity box in the room overnight
- Gavin (10/5): -
- Helen (8/5): Ok other than dog barking next room - Everything except people with barking dog in room next me to 11pm and 5am. I’m on vacation so really don’t need to be woken up. Not hotel fault. No staff after 10.45-7am. Dog barking
- LEANNE (10/5): Fabulous, definitely booking again soon - The very pleasant staff. Our quirky room, very spacious. Vacate room at 10.30am plenty of time no rush
Took a visit to Llansteffan Castle & beach Nothing we didn’t enjoy, there’s nothing to report everything of our stay was excellent
- Caroline (9/5): Very enjoyable stay. We will return! - Beautiful decor and a friendly atmosphere. Rooms spacious, very clean and well equipped. Lovely shower / bath.
Dexters restaurant served really amazing food and the service was excellent. The bar area was lovely.
Breakfast was really delicious. It was a bit too hot in the night.
- Kathryn (5/5): - Lovely bathroom . OK breakfast and my dog was welcomed by breakfast staff. Extremely noisy guests in room above who woke me at 1am with tv music playing loudly . Unable to complain as no staff. Was about to pack up and leave but they finally turned tv off by 2.15am.
I previously also tried to email with a question but didnt receive a response.
- Charlotte (10/5): -
- Andrew (8/5): -
- Sue (10/5): Just a pleasure! - Regular visitors..never fails! Excellent room though getting in/out of the deep bath is "challenging"! Handles maybe? Great breakfast as always and all staff on top form. Especially the bar manager on 18/3..thanks all!
- Jane (10/5): Fabulous Stay - Lovely atmosphere staff incredible
Food outstanding Nothing
- Dr Catherine (10/5): Excellent period hotel which balances tradition with modern comforts and a warm welcome, highly recommended! - Authentic period hotel, thoughtfully updated. Lovely top floor suite was spotlessly clean, well equipped and full of both period timberwork and beautiful modern lampshades etc. Staff were all genuinely helpful and friendly. excellent breakfasts with several options.
Great location on the high street which is not usually that busy! Close to the castle, Dylan Thomas' boathouse and walks around the headland and bay.
Car park handy with useful back entrance for luggage and access. Small niggles- noisy small fridge/heat pump which we turned off on second night.
- chris (8/5): -
- Gillian (10/5): A very enjoyable stay at a warm, welcoming and comfortably stylish hotel. - The warmth and welcome at the Hotel. The bar, dinner, our bedroom which was lovely.
- Ed (8/5): Loved the hotel and setting and would definitely go back - The room and location Didn’t seem well staffed
- Liane (10/5): -
- suzanne (7/5): - Great location, great staff and lovely food Only thing was the room was noisy overnight - sounded like a generator or something. It wasn't the heating.
- Josephine (9/5): Great stay amazing breakfast and staff. very dog friendly and would stay again. - Excellent breakfast and amaizng staff Had to ask for clean towels and bottled water.
The quilt and the linen were tired and needed to be refreshed. If the bed linen is hired, it needs renewing.
- Owain (9/5): -
- Michelle (9/5): Perfect for a romantic getaway & the food dexters is superb ! - The interior, the room we stayed in, it had a wonderful bed & the roll top bath was icing on the cake. The steps you had to climb from the car park
- Alex Clothier (10/5): - The restaurant is superb topdraw
- Stephen (10/5): -
- jacqueline (10/5): All very good and dinner and breakfast too - The rooms and bathroom
- Sallie (10/5): -
- Lindsey (5/5): Good location with parking - Tea and coffee in room and parking Small room , no table for my work . Poor old fashion heating .
- Sarah-jane (9/5): -
- Paul (9/5): - Excellent as usual
- Gary (10/5): Exquisite Browns - The room was fabulous, booked a junior suite and it was definitely worth having the extra space and the comfortable sofa on our 3 night stay. The bathroom was enormous and very well equipped. The bed was very comfortable and the tea and coffee facilities were well stocked. Complimentary prosecco was a nice touch. There is a tiny bottle/can fridge in the room too........to pop a pint of milk in from the local shop.
Make sure you eat in the restaurant, the food was amazing, the best I've eaten in decades, treat yourself, have a steak, it is phenomenal. The staff are all friendly, helpful and attentive, an excellent experience all round. Lack of fresh milk in the room, very very minor gripe as there are sachets of UHT provided and the bar staff will provide you with some if you ask.
- Eleanor Jean (9/5): Laugharne is a lovely place and Brown's is the best hotel. - Friendly staff, good location, excellent food. Didn't get to eat in the dining room but in the draughty bar along with dogs allowed to sit on dining chairs.
- Liz (9/5): Truly Lovely place to stay - Superb people working here. The welcome was lovely and the food was served with aplomb
- Emma (10/5): -
- Joanna (6/5): Beautiful Laugharne, disappointing room! - I love the history of Browns and have stayed here before in a lovely room in the main house. The shower facilities were lovely. We were in a room that was in an annex near the car park; it was small and lacked that Browns class and character. The window overlooked the back entrance.
- Jones (10/5): -
- Jayne (8/5): Lovely hotel, great location and excellent food. - Location and restaurant The shower over the bath was hard to use
