Guest Reviews
- Glenn (7/5): Cozy - Its such a beautiful place. I had a bad experience with the sauna out by the lake. The lack of preparation was sad. If your not going to do something we'll, your better off not doing it.

- Witthinrich (10/5): Perfect lakeside luxury — calm, elegant, and one of the best family stays we’ve had. - We had a fantastic stay at Edgewood Tahoe Resort.
The location is outstanding — directly on the lake and surrounded by the golf course, very peaceful and high quality. The rooms are top class, spacious and beautifully designed.
Facilities are excellent: great gym, hot pool, sauna, and overall very well maintained. Everything feels clean, organized, and on a high level.
We stayed as a family with my wife and daughter and really enjoyed the atmosphere. The restaurant is also very good, nice setting and service.
Overall, one of the best resorts we’ve stayed in — we will definitely come back.
- Angelo (5/5): Disappointing Beautyful - Construction quality and location Hotel empty: asked to have a room with lake view: answer: at midnight: no we don’t do is a different rate. Front desk very uncomfortable.
They try to let me pay 50$ for parking, I don’t have a car in US….
They apply 55$ of resort fee : there is no amenities: pool outside 🥶 -2degree , the spa: you have to pay: so no amenities that can allowed to ask resort fees. The room cost 650$……..
In the morning at 10:00 request to have laundry of 4pc.: aaa sorry no we can’t you had to tell one hour ago.
There isn’t a place where to have a desk for computer or business meeting. A lot of work in the hotel but the rate was the same.
Very disappointing experience in a Beautyful place.
- Maps28576462894 (10/5): Outstanding Luxury with a good view and good people - Can’t say enough good things about this place. We absolutely loved it. It felt luxurious, the property was beautiful with a beautiful view of the lake where we made a snow man. They had a lot of included amenities like s’mores night, snow shoeing that were so much fun. A truly luxurious resort in Tahoe that I would book if you are considering it. We skiied most days and having the ski butlers there and the shuttles always on hand to take us to the gondola was great. Having the drivers made a difference and what I will say was the staff at this resort was excellent. Everyone was super friendly and helpful going above and beyond. 10/10

- John (10/5): - All the facilities were amazing. Nothing
- Compass400131 (8/5): Overall good experience. - Beautiful resort. The common areas are second to none. Food and beverage is top notch. Friendly, professional staff. Room rates are too high though for what you get. Location, location, location.

- jessicasK8759HL (10/5): Solo staycation - I recently had the pleasure of staying one night at the Edgewood resort. I am fortunate enough to live 40 minutes away from this lovely resort. The views were amazing from the Bistro and my hotel room. I highly recommend booking a room with a lake view. The staff at the check in desk were very friendly and provided a complimentary glass of champagne. The rooms were tastefully decorated with a gorgeous bathroom with top notch toiletries. I did not have a chance to use the complimentary shuttle to the shopping village but will try it next time. Wonderful place for single travelers or couples to unwind from stress. Worth every penny for the quality of the experience in unforgettable surroundings.
- moniquegD73WR (10/5): The best place to stay in Tahoe - 10/10 recommend this gorgeous place. Check in was easy. Walking into the lobby and seeing views of the lake took my breath away. I wish the room had more storage space for winter gear etc. Bedding and linen were great just wished for premium pillows. Staff was above accommodating especially Doug in the Edge restaurant and bar. Shuttle service to Heavenly was quick and convenient. This is such a special place. I’m thinking of bringing my family back to celebrate Christmas!
- Dardanelle44 (10/5): We just love everything about the Edgewood Tahoe - Edgewood Tahoe is a fabulously run family luxury resort hotel with all the amenities one could ask for. The lake views, access to skiing, restaurants and the casinos and first class service in wonderful rooms makes this a hotel we return to year in and year out. The onsite restaurants are fabulous as is the Spa. We just love the Edgewood!
- michaelbG5692OP (10/5): I don’t get some of the mixed reviews. - I’m leaving the resort after a business retreat. While everyone agrees that the setting is idyllic and the lobby magnificent, there seem to be contradictory opinions about the service and possibly the rooms.
Here’s my take. The service was exceptional from start to finish. I telephoned Craig at the front desk before arriving and he was amazing at accommodating my request. The service at check in, housekeeping, in the restaurants, shuttles, the spa (beautiful facilities) and the meeting support staff were all of a high caliber seldom seen anywhere. OMG, they even have turn down as the routine. This wasn’t just my opinion, but that of my colleagues.
They similarly agreed that the rooms were large, pretty, and a soothing haven. I’ve stayed at many different lodges in Tahoe and this one is the only one that I am certain to book on a return. I will undoubtedly run into one of my colleagues from work if I do.
- clevelandsnow (4/5): Good property, really poor service. Won’t be returning - Good property, but service was really poor. Food options for vegetarians are almost non existent. Won’t be returning.
- solomonp614 (2/5): 5 star price. 2 star service. - Poorly trained management staff. Felt bullied. Room and disrepair. Would not return……………………………………………………………………..
- Daria (8/5): Wonderful place to relax - Wonderful place, good kitchen. The room was a bit small.
- Audrius (10/5): -
- bella402 (10/5): Fabulous getaway - Wonderful location with beautiful views
Great food great service
Massage wonderful
Nice bed
Clean
Plan to go back in the future
- Mariia (10/5): - Всё было замечательно!!! Реальность превзошла ожидания!!! Рекомендую на 100°%
- 918sydneyt (10/5): Edgewood Resort - So amazing all the way around!
Cannot recommend enough!!
My partner and I got engaged on this trip and they made it so perfect!
Between the room, the cleanliness of the grounds and daily room upkeep, the robes, bubble bath, choc covered strawberries, all the food, pool, views, and the AMAZING staff, this place is 10/10.
Angela was our concierge and we cannot recommend and thank her enough!!
- Nan (10/5): -
- lkinneykerr (6/5): Beautiful Hotel...needing more on the service front. - Nice hotel, beautiful grounds and cozy rooms.
Service and communication could use some work. Please update your website to provide clear guidance on shuttles to Cal Lodge to eliminate confusion. Room service was very sub-par for the cost. Whatever you do, if you have kids do not order the hot chocolate. You will be requesting a refund.
- Abdullah (9/5): -
- travelerfood (8/5): Glad we tried Edgewood at last! - We stayed in a 3 BR villa and the best part of our stay was the villa concierge you get, Linda. The villa is gorgeous. You actually have a mini kitchen which is so convenient. Excellent in room coffee which consists of beans, a grinder and machine with a timer. You also get unlimited smores but they are very low quality and we did not enjoy them. We had several issues while there including poor food service (but good food) and a too hot room, but everything got taken care of. I really want to give 5 "circles" but I can't. Maybe next time. I think they are working things out. We will return. It is gorgeous, and Edge Restaurant is a must!
- Nazarii (10/5): -
- 166audraq (10/5): Beautiful relaxing weekend - Beautiful views, relaxing vibes, amazing staff. We had an incredible weekend and cant wait to return! Walks along the beach, great drinks, delicious food, helpful staff.
- adam (10/5): Best resort in Tahoe - Everything. Best hotel in Tahoe
Location, cleanliness, staff, amenities
Large room The trip ended too quickly. 3 days was not enough
- rsuh530 (2/5): Disappointing Service and Subpar Rooms: Not a 5-Star Experience - We were shocked by the lack of luxury at Edgewood Tahoe. While the common areas are beautiful, the guest experience and room quality are closer to a 3-star level.
The room amenities were significantly outdated (early 2000s decor) and lacked basic comfort. Our mattress was lumpy, and the towels were incredibly rough—comparable to sandpaper. Furthermore, for a luxury resort, seeing cheap plastic soap dispensers screwed into the shower walls like a budget gym was disappointing.
The biggest issue, however, was the staff training. We were initially placed in a room with non-functional USB ports and no complimentary water. That night, we were kept awake by high-pitched shrieking from a neighboring room. When we alerted security, they were unhelpful, eventually suggesting we "use earplugs" for a noise that was clearly audible through walls and recordings. When I politely asked to be moved so my family could sleep, the front desk attempted to guilt-trip me instead of providing a solution before moving us, very reluctantly.
Communication is also non-existent between shifts. I spent hours trying to move a breakfast reservation, being bounced between a front desk that "couldn't help" and a concierge that had already left. Messages weren't passed on, and notes weren't kept. For the price point, the hospitality is severely lacking. I would not recommend this resort to friends or family.
- hotcorner17 (4/5): Bad service - Beautiful hotel that is a huge swing and miss on service. From check-in, to bar/restaurant service, and shuttle service, it is clear service is not a priority. We booked trip as a ski vacation. It is was very inconvenient. The shuttle service is slow and inconsistent; we often waited 45 minutes to get to town even first thing in morning. When I politely mentioned this was a concern to the manager Sal, I was told tough luck, it can take that long. The restraunts are overcrowded, making reservations necessary even for breakfast and lunch. On more than one occasion we sat at bar for 20-30 minutes and was never greeted before getting up and leaving. They automatically charge 50 dollars for parking, even if you have no vehicle and have private transportation take you. I had to ask 3 times for the charge to be removed (clearly they are hoping most wont notice). Also while not a huge deal but there is absolutely no apres ski, unless you want at 30 dollar burger from the bar. The coffee and snack bar also clos s very early. Do not be confused, this is not on the level of a Ritz, Four Seasons, Montage or St. Regis despite similar pricing. The lone bright spot was the exceptional staff at ski/sports shop and the contracted Ski Butlers staff who were excellent.
- Teryl (10/5): Exquisite Hotel - The lobby with s’mores was so beautiful and all the people working were so helpful. We brunch only this time and the restaurant never disappoints. A shout out to Stephanie in the lounge, always makes us feel welcome.
- V6412NIkevinc (10/5): Great Resort With Wonderful Staff - I would highly recommend staying here. We just had a wonderful 5 night trip. Beautiful resort with exceptional staff! Beautiful views right on Lake Tahoe!
- Linna (8/5): -
- Katrina (10/5): Excellent - Great place. Quite expensive
- Katrina (10/5): Comfortable stay, stunning place. - Luxurious feel, lots of things to do. Food was not that great for the price. Breakfast should be complimentary for the price.
- jcola_advisor (8/5): Good but not great - Overall good experience, but they do not deserve a Michelin key star. The hotel was good for a five star hotel, but not exceptional. Even the lowest ranked Four Seasons or a moderate ranked Ritz Carlton is lightyears ahead of this resorts professional services and attention to detail. Overall would recommend on location, cleanliness and friendliness, but nothing to call home about for exceptional hospitality.
- Valeria (10/5): Incredible! - Everything!!! Everything was magical!
- carlosdavidc35 (8/5): Get away to relax and quiet. - It's a great place to get away. I recommend, you will enjoy yourself. I believe it's the best hotel in Lake Tahoe. It has good service over all.
- poryam46 (2/5): Do not stay in room 246 - Do not stay in room 246. It’s above the restaurant and it smells like chicken tenders, hamburgers and fried foods from 11am to 1am daily.
- Diane (10/5): -
- MAR-Q8 (10/5): A Breathtaking Stay at Edgewood Tahoe - Edgewood Tahoe is absolutely breathtaking from the moment you arrive, the views, the atmosphere, and the serenity feel unreal. The lakefront setting is stunning, the service is warm and thoughtful, and every corner feels luxurious yet relaxing. A perfect escape for anyone looking to experience Lake Tahoe at its most beautiful.
- Wanderer522803 (2/5): Save your money - To be honest, our state was less than enjoyable. We had some credit to use so we used it booking a room for two nights.
Traveling with my special-needs son and his brother can be wonderful but also tricky. We had a long day of travel and checked into hotel on October 31. Our credit had not been applied to our stay and so this caused a lot of confusion with the front desk staff. They told us they would let a manager know and help us in the morning. Understandable.
So we went to dinner nearby at the bistro. I was met there with somebody that was less than happy to seat us and wait on us. This gentleman ruined our entire stay. He did not want to serve us. It was obvious. He treated the other two tables of young couples incredibly different than us. We almost felt discriminated against. By the time our food came out we were turned off and didn’t want to eat our meal and decided to just take the check and go.
I explained our situation to the manager the next morning, who was doing his best to make the situation better. A 50% discount was applied to our dinner. We were also supposed to hear from management for the restaurant, but never did. Very disappointing. We ended up leaving after one night and the manager Sal kindly offered to refund part of our stay. Very much appreciated however they wanted the very first initial credit card we had from the initial credited stay from back in January 2024. Obviously, this card was not accessible and so I was told that another manager would follow up with us from the billing department and a check would be cut and sent to us.
I have not heard from anybody at this point. All in all, the hotel was not something I would recommend to friends or family. I will never come there again. My entire stay from check in to check out was horrible.
- Jason (10/5): Stellar stay! - Beautiful property; spectacular views; excellent staff and service; nice restaurants; and clean and comfortable rooms.
- LiveOn712 (10/5): Check out the Edgewood Tahoe - This resort is beautiful and serene. I was able to go through a business trip, if you love nature, you'll love the Edgewood.
- W7662ZPerind (10/5): Perfect birthday weekend - Quick weekend trip for my birthday. Everything about this property was absolutely lovely. Great staff and wonderful accommodations. Can’t wait to return.
- fondam582 (10/5): Exquisite Experience - Wonderful experience for solo traveler. Housekeeping service was fantastic and cleaned without me asking them. 5pm turndown service with chocolates, extra water bottles and nice touches. Lots of activities and knowledgeable concierge. The shuttle service is supburb. Extremely easy checking in and out. Bellman gave me a tour and history of lodge and lake upon arriving. The Hobbs Wine dinner was outstanding. Wonderful experience.
- michelecD204PE (10/5): I'll be back! - Beautiful resort and an amazing experience. The grounds are amazing; rooms are excellent and very quiet. I highly recommend it!
- Valerie (8/5): Pricey - ok to come once - Awesome location on the lakefront, loved the complimentary s’mores, great interior aesthetics Pricey, our room had a view of the parking lot (not cool), the restaurants at the property a pretty bad (overpriced for below average food)
- Uncompahgre (10/5): Wonderful trip - Wonderful visit at the Edgewood. Traveled as a couple. I dont play golf we came to the area to hike and dine. Staff was very knowledgeable and gave us great hiking recommendations. Grounds were immaculate, so many neat little areas within the hotel to stay warm near a fire. Food was great. We will return.
- erinabbemontgomery (10/5): The perfect stay for couples or families! - This was the perfect stay for our 10 Year Anniversary! From the time I booked, the communication was fantastic! All of the accomodations I requested were implemented perfectly, from the roses to the cookies. It's a central location to many activities outside of the resort and has the most beautiful view! We will definitely return for a family trip again!
- Mijgan (2/5): - our reservation at 8:30 turned in to 11pm and no small bites at the bar. Got charged 600 for a Cabana that was never authorized nor used
- Exploration302220 (6/5): Busy place with unfriendly staff - Not so friendly staff. Busy bar tenders. Food was meh. Generally a busy place which kills ambience. Is it worth the price? Short answer is No.
- Sahar (10/5): - Very clean, staff and location are great
- Abhijit (4/5): - Rude and busy bartenders. Restaurants are always busy and unable to get booking. After all the wait, food is sub par. No apologies and no concern. These guys need to visit Asia or other countries to understand hospitality. Not a dig. Just genuine heartfelt comments. Very dissapointed.
- lisaleslie (4/5): Could of been perfect but… - This is a beautiful resort on Lake Tahoe. I would give this hotel a 5 star review but….here we are on a Saturday morning at 7am and construction has again began! I understand there is construction but it is Saturday morning, a few extra hours break for your guests would be appreciated. I booked a king room and my view is of the parking lot and the construction project with a portable refrigerator underneath our window so we couldn’t even open our deck for fresh air due to noise. Needless to say, extremely disappointed as the rooms are expensive. These rooms should be discounted or something. Ridiculous.
Restaurant, cocktail bar, lobby, service were all good but…
- Laura (10/5): - The Edgewood is beautiful, immaculate and comfortable. The staff is very customer oriented without being stuffy, we loved our stay!
- F5666SAnh (6/5): It’s OK - Based on the website we had high expectations. Booked for wife’s bday and it was just ok. Expected peace and quiet and we were disturbed by the construction site outside our window.
- Matthew (6/5): -
- Stacy (10/5): - We were there for 2 nights to attend a wedding on the property. The room was quiet, clean with a very comfortable bed and a lovely patio. The property is gorgeous and they did a fabulous job executing the wedding.
- I8513MAjena (4/5): Beautiful Resort/ Terrible Service - Beautiful resort can’t beat the views! However. We had terrible service (valet/pool) for how much this stay costs. Top tier resorts should deliver top tier service.
- franciss877 (10/5): High end prices but worth it! - I was looking for the best place to stay when we visited Lake Tahoe for the first time and I was not disappointed. This resort has the best of everything. Manicured property, a beautiful golf course, a great bar, 3 restaurants. I would skip the high end Edge restaurant due to its limited somewhat eclectic menu (unless you're into that): we much preferred the Bistro. Rooms are spacious comfy, bathrooms are the best with tubs and great big showers, high end fixtures. The finest feature: it sits on the lake shore, you cannot beat that view. The spa is first class, and a wonderful outdoor heated pool. The staff is over the top great. Of course, at these prices, you should expect a lot, and the Edgewood resort delivers.
- 401kathys (10/5): Edgewood worth every penny. Breathtaking views and ultimate luxury. - I researched Edgewood and read so many reviews. I can't rave about this experience enough. Lana in reservations went so far out of her way to set up our group of 14 (4 toddlers) offering the best options which worked out perfectly. Jacqueline concierge made sure all requests were filled. The place is breathtaking, the staff was great, the experience was a 10 and I am so grateful I made this decision. ps. The ground floor lakeview is the way to go with toddlers. We had the door open and they played on the lawn whenever they could. The arrangement was perfection. Watching the golfers was a bonus! The shuttle can take you to Heavenly gondola and the kids loved the roller coaster.
- Jed (10/5): -
- kellylarsen63 (10/5): Fantastic Resort - Beautiful resort the staff is amazing! We really enjoyed our time there whether we sat in the chairs on the beach, by the fire, or just our patio the view was simply amazing!
- Vincent (4/5): - First, let me start by praising the staff. They were simply following inept rules…like asking if I had reservations when 50 tables were empty and then they placed us at the worst location…or turning us away because I had (really expense) shorts, Hawaiian shirt and shoes (not sandals) but then let a different couple in when the woman had basically the same outfit on that I did, and WE WERE STAYING AT THE RESORT!!!!
Said screw this and saved money and had a whole lot more fun at local recommended sites for breakfast, lunch, and dinner…
Final straw was out last day there. After having spend $1200+ on a couples spa the day before (highly recommended!!!!), I was approached on the last three, and famous, holes on the course (16-18) and told to pick up the pace…wait, the group in front of us was keeping us held up but we weren’t complaining. Nope, it was the group behind us that were a bunch of regulars and then we only saw them twice and that was on the front nine! After rushing through the holes that run along the Tahoe shoreline, the group behind us silly-dallied and we’re 2 full holes behind us.
Moral of the story, stay and play elsewhere
- Jack (10/5): - As good as it gets. Plenty of sitting areas inside and outside. Cleaning staff did imaculate job on rooms. Timely and flexible. Shuttle was exceptionally well done. Never more than a 10 minute wait.
- jamesmE8700BC (10/5): Greatest resort in North America except their pool times. - Wonderful place, amazing views. By far one the best resorts in the country. The only disappointment I have was pool and hot tub didn't open until 9am which is super lame.
- Sergei (10/5): - Very good.
- FellowTraveler756714 (8/5): Look over your room bill very carefully! - We just got back from a four day stay at the Edgewood Lake Tahoe. Such a mixed experience! We found the front desk staff to be incredibly unwelcoming (except for Liz who saved us). The concierge was almost aggressively unhelpful (in regards to getting a shuttle or buying a gift card from the spa). Once we got to our room and enjoyed the amenities we saw the beauty of the resort. Jackson at the bar was delightful as well as many of the staff in the bistro and the pool. The view and the grounds were amazing. BUT the only reason I am here writing a review is to call out the Edgewood on a practice that I cannot believe is even legal in regard to the billing. We were charged $150 for 3 days for parking (we had no car) and when we asked Karen at the front desk about it we were told that they charge EVERYONE the parking fee and expect the guests to catch that and ask for it removed. I was told they ask at checkout if the guest had a car , but there are many opportunities to check out online and in a rush just pay the bill before going through all the line billing items which are many. How is this legal to bill people for things that don't apply with the expectation that is incumbent on your guests to have it removed? We were at the Edgewood for my son's wedding and it made me worry about the ethics of the management of the Edgewood in regard to billing. Yikes!
- 191cristyt (10/5): Relaxation - It’s one of the most beautiful and cleanest resort we’ve ever visited. Its location is peaceful and the views are stunning of Lake Tahoe. The golf course is well manicured and fun to play. Edgewood restaurant was an exceptional experience.Highly recommend!
- Luyun (8/5): It’s a wonderful travel. - It’s beautiful Let’s relax
- T1898YMtiffanyl (2/5): 5 Star Price 4 Star Amenities 1 Star Service - Overall experience very disappointed. Everything listed out in previous page.
There was one more thing I forgot, long women hair found in bathrobe. Picture will be attached.
- Vacation179441 (10/5): Perfect Vacation - Outstanding Hotel. My husband and I absolutely loved our stay here. We were celebrating our anniversary. We are in our 70's.
The check-in process was quick and the desk staff was very cordial. Welcome flutes of champagne were on offer. Throughout our stay, we interacted with concierge staff, front desk, housekeeping and engineering. All the staff was unfailingly courteous and friendly.
The concierges, Linda and Thomas, were extremely helpful, planning a boat tour as well as helping us choose and reserve tables at several restaurants. The bell man, Casey, was very friendly and helpful.
Our room was beyond GORGEOUS. It was a spacious lakefront suite with two working gas fireplaces and a huge terrace. The furniture was of excellent quality, in beautiful taste and in satisfactory condition. The interior design scheme is sophisticated, and the furniture is comfortable.
The view of the lake and mountains was over the top! Cannot praise this view enough! There was an anniversary card and a delicious assortment of sweets in our room.
Dining at the resort's restaurants--Edge, the Bistro and Brooks-- was excellent. We had four breakfasts at the Bistro. Service and food were good three times. However, one day the service was poor. We waited 45 minutes and failed to receive our food. All three restaurants are very attractively designed and have great ambiance.
The Edge is a stunning formal restaurant with very high ceilings and a stunning view of the lake and mountains. The food was delicious, though the quantities were on the small side.
We are not golfers. The golfers with whom we spoke praised the course. It looked amazing with some fairways fronting the beach, lake and mountains. Other fairways were lined with mature pines.
There was construction on the grounds which necessitated repeated persistent loud beeping of large rumbling machines. This negatively affected the outdoor ambiance at times, but I sat by the pool for hours one day without hearing construction noise. On the weekday I used the pool, it was not at all crowded. Towel service was provided. Staff set up my deck chair for me.
As written above, we loved our stay here. That said, there is room for improvement in minor areas. I list them below so that staff can address them if they so desire. Again, I want to stress that these are VERY MINOR quibbles:
1. Room service: No printed in-room dining menu. An I-pad is provided, but it takes FOREVER to read and is less than user-friendly. We had to click through multiple screens. That process was more frustrating and time-consuming than reading a printed menu would have been.
When we called in-room dining to request a printed menu, we never received one. Why not leave a printed menu in the room?
Also, we were told that guests are not permitted to order room service until after 7AM the same day the service is needed. That means that guests cannot call to order breakfast or brunch the night before their meal is desired.
2. The lighting in bathroom and over the dressing table is utterly inadequate. There is no light in the walk-in closet, and very little light bleeds into the closet from the rest of the suite, though the plate on the closet ceiling seems to be made for a closet light. I am guessing the hotel's designers were attempting to "save the planet" by way of this regrettably parsimonious lighting scheme.
There is a lighted makeup mirror provided to compensate for the dimness, but the electric light on our mirror was broken. Housekeeping staff provided a second lighted makeup mirror. The second one did not work either. As of this writing, we had given the second faulty mirror to the staff at the front desk and had requested a replacement which the staff said would be delivered. In the two hours following our request the mirror did not materialize. It did eventually appear after several more hours.
3. The deadbolt on the door from the main corridor to the suite did not work when we checked in, and engineering promptly replaced the door strike plate. It should have been tested, reported and repaired before we checked in.
4. The gas fireplaces are a challenge to use. Simply pressing the adjacent button does not turn the fireplace on every time. For example, guest presses the "on" button, but the fireplace doesn't start until 5 minutes later! Written instructions would have been helpful.
5. Requested Housekeeping by telephone to make up room while we were at breakfast. There were several housekeeping carts in the corridor at the time we made our request. One hour later we returned from breakfast, they still had not cleaned the room. We were told that all housekeeping staff was at lunch simultaneously?!
6. Our room did not have air conditioning. There is heat or circulation of ambient air.
7. The shuttle bus driver felt that rock music would be what any random person would want to hear at the end of a long day. All I wanted was soft jazz or pop.
*******************************
I want to emphasize here that I am extremely particular. In no way did these very minor quibbles decrease our appreciation of the gorgeous room and spectacular views, but these problems did reduce the resort's rating to 4.5 stars instead of 5.
That said, this is a beautiful resort and its design and service made our vacation unforgettable. We definitely plan to return to the Edgewater Lake Tahoe if they have the grace to accept us after reading this review!
- Fearless303001 (6/5): Beautiful Resort with Subpar Service - We spent three nights over Labor Day Weekend with our two adult daughters. While the resort is in one of the most stunning locations, the subpar service left us disappointed with the overall experience. Our daughters' room had a broken toilet and we requested repair every day. For some bizzare reason, the toilet was never fixed and repeatedly broke down. The service at the Bistro was equally unsatisfactory. We could never get the wait staff to give us the items (salt and pepper, condiments, extra coffe, water etc) that we requested until it's too late. The pool was completely full and we could not get a lounge chair the few times we tried to lounge by the pool. In addition, the concierge desk was unhelpful when we asked for a list of on-site activites and instead referred us to the table in the room for more information. Also make sure you check your bill at the end carefully. We had to go back three times to make sure that the resort credit from Amex was applied and the breakfast was not overcharged. For over $2000 per room per night after adding up the taxes and resort fees, we expected much more!
- kmuller (6/5): Disappointed - Lacking Service - Just read Adrian’s long review and I’ll give you some more examples to support what was said. I do not believe it was an exaggeration.
Almost $2K a night and service was terrible —-with few exceptions, one being the lady that works in the coffee shop 9/1 & 9/3 in the morning, she was very nice. And another gentleman that was working in the open near the lobby one afternoon and a bartender in Edge 9/1/25.
Terrible service at Brooks for lunch—3 tables around us got their food before we’d even gotten our drinks and when I looked around, I saw that she was closing out her checks. So clearly she was trying to get out of there and not paying any mind to us.
Early risers- no complementary coffee. you have to go buy it yourself, which is fine just at this price point you’d think they’d have some like the Ritz, 4 seasons, Fairmont etc…
Dirty dishes sat out in multiple people’s doors until late afternoon on our hallway until my husband finally went and told the front desk .
Employee was repeatedly slamming doors with some trash bags right outside our room at about 3 AM and I had to ask him to please stop.
Asked for a feather pillow I was told they do not have any because of an overabundance of people with allergies???!
So there are a lot of beautiful properties & views in the world and this is one of them, but the lacking service will drive us elsewhere in the future. I don’t think I’ll be back!
- 816ardianz (2/5): Great Views, Terrible Service and Experience. Do not recommend spending your money here. - I can wholeheartedly say I have never had a more unwelcoming and horrible experience. My spouse and I have been lucky enough to travel across the world and stay at various kinds of hotels and properties. Nothing has ever compared to how big of a disappointment this experience was. We advise you to really reconsider if you are thinking about staying here.
My spouse and I came here with such excitement. We had never visited Lake Tahoe, and after reading reviews about Edgewood Resort, I was eager to book and celebrate many anniversaries and milestones here. I saw negative reviews about the poor service, but I just ignored them as I understand things can happen. I now understand why people have shared those reviews.
To start the stay, we get to our room, and there is dirt on our sheets. Now this might sound insane, but I just brushed it off and moved on. At this point I was just excited and grateful to be there and wasn’t going to make a big fuss on our first day. Thinking that would be the extent of it, I was very mistaken.
We went down to sit at the bar and were looked at like we didn’t belong. No one served us for about 10 minutes, and I even asked my spouse if we were interrupting something. We eventually were given a menu, ordered, and it was fine.
The positive thing about this place is it is beautiful and they provide a lot of activities so we enjoyed them that evening and continued on.
The next day, we had dinner at the Edge Restaurant. I pulled out the iron to get my shirt ready for the evening, when brown residue splattered all over my shirt, which we couldn’t get out. Again, just trying to blow it off because accidents happen, we simply call the front desk to ask for laundry service and they said they could swing by the room the next morning (Saturday). They never came and so we went down the next day and a different person told us the laundry service doesn’t actually come till Monday. Frustrated and getting a bit fed up, we moved on and planned to just enjoy our dinner.
Excited and ready to celebrate our anniversary eventually led to us feeling so uncomfortable we were just waiting to leave. When we arrived the waiter's assistant greeted us with the warmest smile and compliments. She informed us that our waiter would be with us shortly to take our order.
15 minutes goes by and we start looking around trying to figure out which person is our waiter. A gentleman eventually comes over, takes our order, no apology for the delay, and then leaves. That was the only time he came to our table the whole night. We had separate people bring our food. Our waiter went to all the other tables around us multiple times, never coming over ONE TIME. He would just glance at us and our table and just walk away. We ended up having to clean our own table off and move the dishes to the end because our empty plates sat in front of us for 10 minutes. We eventually had to get up and ask someone for the check because AGAIN we waited 15-20 minutes for anyone to come over.
I even looked at my spouse and asked if we had done something wrong or if we misheard the guy that he was our waiter. We even asked the lady if he was our waiter to which she confirmed yes.
We are not ones to make a scene as we both have been in the service industry and understand how hectic things can get. But to spend that much money and watch our waiter completely neglect us the whole night felt so targeted and disrespectful.
If you have made it this far, it doesn’t end there.
At this point we were just ready to leave, but we booked the hotel for 4 nights and just wanted to make the best of the current situation, even though everything in me just wanted to travel back home early.
We decided to go to the pool as we haven’t experienced it yet. The lady tells us that there is a wait. We put our name down and took the opportunity to just go sit and relax from a long day of adventure. We finally get a message that there is room available. I asked about poolside service and she said they are only doing the Bistro menu, due to the weather, they sent the pool and beach staff home early. Which again, I totally get and I think it's great they got the early day off!
We are lounging by the pool, it's about 3:30, but at 3:45 we get our order taken. My spouse asks for one of their cocktails, and I ask for a margarita. 45 minutes goes by and the waiter comes out with just the margarita. He looks at me and says “we unfortunately don’t have the cocktail that you asked for”.. which was one on their menu. A little irritated because we had to wait 45 minutes to find out they didn’t even have the drink. We just asked for a margarita.
20 or so minutes go by and we stopped the waiter to check in on the drink because at this point it had been over an hour since I asked for a drink, to which he looks at me annoyed and goes “ what did you order?”……
I told him it was a margarita, he started walking away and responded “ yep! they are working on it”.
Still trying to be patient and understanding we waited for another 10-15 minutes, I went up to the lady managing the pool and asked for an update and if we should just go inside and order ourselves, she replied “did they not bring out two margaritas?” At this point we were just ready to leave, 20 minutes later and the drink finally came out.
Overall, this was hands down the most unpleasant stay I have ever experienced. We love to travel, we love people and we always try to look at the other end of things. But, there comes a point when it is just not okay. We spent a lot of money to be here and were treated like we shouldn’t have been there. We both have never felt so unwelcome and confused during a stay in our lives.
I understand things happen, times get busy and communication can get lost. But to have a negative experience at every touchpoint of this place was just too much. You pay that kind of money, you expect to at least be treated well, which was not the case.
- vaughnr230 (10/5): Edgewood Hotel A++, Spa = unethical - Edgewood Tahoe is great. Bistro is great. The spa is overpriced and the staff are not any better than what you’d find in Chinatown of any major city. Watch out they will always try to upsell you and steal your hard earned money without proper notification
- 850glenng (10/5): Fantastic Resort and Golf Course - We stayed at the Edgewood Tahoe Resort for our golf vacation. I highly recommend this luxury resort as we had a wonderful time. The standards are what you expect for a place of this caliber.
I enjoyed the very large hot tub next to the large pool which gave you plenty of space without being crowded. The location right next to Lake Tahoe provides great views and a relaxing environment.
The golf course was of the highest quality with everything from tee to green impeccably maintained. The fairways were like a smooth carpet. The scenery was unmatched. It was expensive but this was due to the high demand. I would definitely like to golf here again.
- Lindsey (10/5): - What an incredible resort! The location is perfect, right on the lake feels like in the most remote area yet minutes from everything. The shuttle can take you anywhere within the area. The resort and grounds itself is spectacular. I’ve never experienced such a 5 star caliber resort that caters to families/children. So many activities and things to do on the grounds. The rooms are very spacious! The beds and pillows are a bit hard but that would be the only thing. 10/10 would absolutely come back and stay longer!
- Mike (10/5): - Awesome
- LikeABirdThatFlew (6/5): Beautiful Setting & Spa, But Not Worth the Price - Edgewood is a nice property in a beautiful setting, but overall it doesn’t deliver the level of service or value you’d expect at this price point. Service is inconsistent — the valet rushed us while unloading with our three small kids, we had to call multiple times on multiple occasions just to get in-room dining plates picked up, the bar told us they were out of white wine with no idea when it would be restocked, and at various meals our entrées were brought out while we were still eating appetizers. Management was unhelpful when we raised concerns, offering canned responses instead of real solutions, and the $200 dining credit they provided felt insignificant compared to a total bill of thousands of dollars. They’ve also already started loud construction next to the pool, despite advertising it wouldn’t begin until September, so consider another place while this is ongoing and even after. On top of that, you can hear concerts from Caesars in your room at night. With its setting and wonderful spa — the massage I had was fantastic and the facilities are beautiful — Edgewood has the potential to be exceptional, but right now the experience does not match the price.
- 202cn (10/5): 33rd Wedding Anniversary - The resort was gorgeous.!! The service was impeccable!! The staff was very courteous and helpful at all times of the day and night! The shuttle service was a very nice perk. ( and quick) If you don’t go to The Edge restaraunt, you’re missing out!!
- Antonio (10/5): -
- romar744 (2/5): You don’t get what you pay for - We visit Tahoe frequently, though usually in the winter for ski season. We were very excited to enjoy summer on the lake, and when booking Edgewood we were hopeful to make it a “summer home” for future visits. Undoubtedly, the resort is considered luxury, so when we paid a luxury price our expectation was luxury service.
From the moment we checked in for our 3 night stay, disappointment followed. To start: at checkin we asked about the room upgrade our card offers. The front desk told us the resort was at full occupancy, so updates weren’t available. Totally understand. Still, once we got to our room, we asked our bellman if we should expect the pool to get busy- and he told us no as the resort capacity was low during our stay. Red flag #1.
Now, don’t get me wrong, the space itself is absolutely beautiful- lakefront with private beach access and a quaint pool all nestled amidst the golf course. However, service proved lacking from our first call to request bed rails for our children’s bed. After three calls, split hours to finally 20 min apart (not including the number of calls that went unanswered), housekeeping came with rails that lined flush with the bed and provided no protection from falls. They came back again with a mismatched set- only one of which (if it had been installed properly) would serve its purpose. We ended up stacking piles of pillows in case of a fall and split one kid per adult on each of the two beds. For a resort that claims to be family friendly, I’d have imagined this to be far from an issue.
Similarly, the next evening we had a water spill on the bed and had to call three times for sheets to be changed- our kids weren’t getting to bed til 9pm+ each night.
Every morning, housekeeping came at 9am and we’d tell them to please return at noon- conversed in Spanish as she spoke to me in Spanish. Still, our room wasn’t made at nearly 2p so we had to forgo naps and come down for a bite.
Communication between the staff is overall poor and inconsistent. Another example: Concierge, Michelle, at the front told us they don’t serve food beachside, so after some waiting in the Bistro lounge area (where we’re told we’d be served) we ended up going into the restaurant to eat. Imagine our surprise when we came to the beach and were offered a menu.
I brought these issues up to the guest relations manager, who, despite some justifications, provided a credit, which felt like a bandaid solution rather than addressing the true concerns. While appreciated, that wasn’t the intent of me bringing it up. Fortunately, he was able to get a proper set of bumpers on the bed for the last night, but the experience was already soured.
One saving grace was Hanna at Villa Concierge who efficiently booked us an excursion. We took the resort shuttle there and back (though we waited longer than quoted to come back) which was quite convenient. Still, a single good experience couldn't salvage the trip.
Throughout the stay it felt like there was a subtle discrimination against us. Lack of attention, poor service… I ended up doing a TripAdvisor and Reddit search to find that there is history of this type of discrimination at the resort.
With improvements in service and communication, we’d consider coming back, but in its current state that possibility is looking bleak.
- Zeljka (10/5): - Edgewood is like an oasis of peace and relaxation in the middle of hustle and bustle of South Lake Tahoe. It is all there - hotel, beach on the lake, pool, jacuzzi, golf course…You don’t have to drive anywhere, stress over parking at the beach, all you have to do is relax, enjoy - and have another snack or cocktail delivered to you!
- 413MalcolmH (10/5): Wonderful place to relax and kick-back in luxury. - The Edgewood Resort is an amazing place to relax, set against the backdrop of Lake Tahoe. The rooms and property are beautiful and maintained to a very high level. The pool area was a highlight, with an amazing staff that made our stay even more special. The restaurants on the property are very good, but the staff need more training in high-level customer service. Edge restaurant is special, but some parts of a very expensive, fine dining experience are missing. The Bistro is good, but the service was not at the level of a high-end resort. The availability of a prompt and comfortable shuttle to take you anywhere in the area was a great bonus for our stay.
- Escape59684629355 (10/5): Fabulous lodging, location, and staff at Edgewood! - Fantastic lodging experience with exceptional staff in Sales and Reservations as well as the front desk. Lauren Epstein, in particular who found us a last minute room when we needed it! The restaurants do not measure up to the obnoxious prices they charge, so eat elsewhere even though you may be tempted.
- 457damone (6/5): World-Class Property, Service is What You'd Get At a Crowded Marriott - Beautiful property on an amazing location. Service is mediocre and not what you would expect at the price point. Feels too crowded (became clear that restaurants and bar areas full of non-hotel guests) and staff was nice but inexperienced with high-end service and actually not that helpful/empowered. Odd times on dinning/services felt very corporate hotel. Beware: If you don't make reservations well in advance you won't be able to sit down and eat at any of the three restaurants (even as a hotel guest)
- Carolyn (10/5): - It’s a beautiful resort!
- 400karlieg (8/5): 10/10 Resort, but avoid The Edge restaurant - Edgewood is amazing! The service, room and amenities are fantastic. The golf course was in beautiful condition. Breakfast in the Bistro was delicious and the short rib from the Bistro in the evening was SO good.
My biggest suggestion, stay away from The Edge Restaurant. We had a very poor experience!
- Thomas (10/5): - Best resort in S Lake Tahoe
- Anthony (8/5): - Absolutely beautiful property. Nice rooms too. Only downside was the service was not up to standard for the price, as well as the additional charges on top of the room cost like hotel fees and parking. Otherwise very beautiful place but for that price not sure if it was fully up to standards.
- Wander817052 (10/5): Rombauer Wine Event - It was a wonderful five star experience. Beautiful setting. Fine dining. Exceptional service. Gorgeous grounds and views of Lake Tahoe. Wonderful golf course experience. Excellent pool and spa area. A weekend to remember forever!
- DT93 (10/5): Another Incredible Stay - Another amazing stay at this fabulous resort! This is our 3rd visit and it never disappoints. The grounds are beautifully maintained, and the location could not be better…right on the lake with all the amenities to make you feel at home. They have thought of everything…fun games and activities throughout the property, fire pits with comfortable seating, comfortable and convenient beach and pool lounging, fun and healthy complimentary breakfast snacks, just to name a few. The golf was fantastic as the course is absolutely breathtaking and well maintained. We never waited and got through the rounds in good time. The restaurant at the golf club is excellent, as are the other dining options. We had unbelievable culinary experiences at both the Bistro and the Edge. Food, drinks, and service were all exceptional! The room was perfect with amazing lake views and a nice balcony to enjoy the sunsets. The spa is a special sanctuary and services there were great! I can’t say enough about this wonderful resort….staff are all friendly professional and helpful. It is expensive, but it is an over the top, luxurious and exceptional experience to spend time at this incredible resort! We will be back…it becoming an annual trip for our anniversary. We usually try different places, but this is worth the repeat visits.
- Inspire56935651431 (6/5): Great but not quite priced right. - Edgewood is on the edge of being great but not quite worth the price tag. The hotel is an ideal location right on the lake in South Tahoe. It's one of the only nice hotels in the area so the price tag is healthy. Our stay was nice but definitely overpriced for what we got (room wise). 100% be sure to book a room with a lake view otherwise you're paying $1000s per night for a view of the trash or parking lot. On the positive side the pool, restaurant and spa were outstanding.
- Tiptop8 (8/5): The Lakefront Setting and Grounds are Stunning - Fab lakefront setting!!! Dining could have been better - Stunning property - be sure to get a lakefront room. They dont let you use the sauna without buying/ steam-room unless you buy spa services (after paying $1200 per night)
- 746mutaza (8/5): Perfect place in every way except for barring you from pool immediately after check out. - This place is gorgeous. The grounds, amenities and cleanliness. My only gripe is after checking out you no longer have pool access. So you check in at 4, get to pool for say a few hours, then head to dinner. Next morning you are turned away as you are no longer a “guest”. If you are going to take a grand from people, at least give them 24 hours of treating them like a somebody.
- Keqin (10/5): - Nice
- aliJ8126FT (10/5): Lakeside Retreat - Edgewood is a truly exceptional property, beautifully set on the shores of the lake amidst stunning natural surroundings. It’s the ideal place to relax and unwind, offering a wide range of amenities both on-site and in the nearby town.
The rooms are spacious, luxurious, and offer breathtaking views of the lake—perfect for a peaceful retreat.
The staff at Edgewood were warm, attentive, and genuinely committed to providing excellent service throughout our stay.
- E2950OZmelissaw (8/5): Amazing Property - Service & Food Not as Much - This was my first time at the Edgewood and the property is extraordinary, beyond belief. Unfortunately the service and food program does not match the property, which is an absolute shame. Two highlights of service
Angela - the property social director
Aurora - the bartender at the Bistro who makes the absolute best drinks and always remembers you. I actually noticed a few reviews mentioning her and I support these reviews. Also she deserves a review and should absolutely get a raise.
Of course the staff is friendly but the high touch of service does not exist here. Its sad because its a big missed opportunity. Here are things you should know before spending SO MUCH MONEY.
FRONT DESK STAFF - BE AWARE. They are not informed and they basically tell you to look online. While they are very nice the basic hospitality is not there. I checked in, about to spend over 5k on my stay and nobody showed me to my room. I got lost for 15 minutes. They do not tell you about things they can offer when you check in or anything like this. I recommend the owners stay at the OJAI VALLEY INN AND LEARN ABOUT HOSPITALITY AT ANOTHER PRIVATELY OWNED PROPERTY. Also be aware they do not answer the phone, EVER. None of the departments do, you will have to call back a number of times and hope you get lucky. Most of the time I had to walk down.
VALET/BELL HOP SERVICE - NO CHOICE. I arrived in a black car and all staff was standing at the desk and didnt looked at my car coming in but didnt move a finger. I actually had to walk up and say “Hello, may I have some help with my luggage?” The response “yea, one minute”!!!! Typically these attendants are super attentive. I have never seen anything like it. I actually unloaded the car myself with the driver.
ROOM SERVICE - DON'T DO IT. I ordered room service and it took over 45 minutes and the order was completely cold and 2 out of 6 items were missing. Also I requested ONE PANCAKE, which is on the menu for $10, and they said "would you like the kids order?", which you would assume was similar in price and a smaller portion (since I was ordering for a 10 year old)... When they delivered the KIDS ORDER OF PANCAKES were $24 and were cold. The staff was apologetic and comped the order but I was hoping to enjoy breakfast with my nieces but the order was delivered cold and then the missing items and replacements were sent piece meal. They were sent fast but the whole trouble of it for a $100 order sort of killed the experience.
PROPERTY - DO IT. There is nothing like it. The private beach is steps from the pool and they have lounge chairs, tables, games to play on the lawn. I would recommend they add service or some sort of grab and go for beverages and food but this is not available. That said, the property is MIND BLOWING and views are UNBELIEVABLE. Its hard not to enjoy.
SPA - I asked for a spa pass that they list on their spa menu but they told me it was completely booked, ok understandable... But then they basically said if I wanted a facial or a treatment they had availability. I thought they were completely booked? For $900 a night they are price gauging and its disgusting. I stay at the Ojai Valley Inn often (PERFECT PROPERTY, PERFECT SERVICE, AND AMAZING FOOD - ALSO PRIVATELY OWNED LIKE THE EDGEWOOD) and this would never happen there.
The Bistro - STICK TO THE BISTRO BAR. They are either understaffed or not trained. I work in the hospitality industry for over 20 years for michelin restaurants and I have never seen anything like this. I asked for brown sugar for my coffee and the staff looked at me like I was asking for a rare caviar only sold in Russia while speaking another language. It took 25 minutes to get the brown sugar. Overall the staff is very untrained, lacks confidence, and overall it feels like they are disorganized
The Coffee Shop - MEH. The restaurant has brown sugar/ sugar in the raw, but every morning I asked for this and they continued to not have it and told me to go to restaurant. I should pay $900 a night a I have to go to the restaurant? After a 5 day stay they didnt think to stock this??
THE POOL - DO IT BUT DON'T ORDER FOOD OR DRINKS. The pool is LITERALLY the highlight of this property in summer. The pool is amazing. I loved every second of being at the pool. I love that its open till 9pm. HOWEVER, why is the sunscreen empty for a whole day? I will get in to the food more next but dont order the food, it is literally disgusting and you will wait about an hour for it. ALSO make sure to review your bill. Out of maybe 10 bills I paid, only one was accurate. Emma is a great server, so sweet and lovely however something is going on with the communication between the bar/kitchen and staff because the drinks are crap and the wait time is unbelievable. The opportunity here, is again MISSED, PEOPLE WOULD SPEND SO MUCH MONEY if they had the opportunity to order. Staff stands at the bar chatting while rich people are waiting to give the resort their money. Also why does service stop at 4pm? The sun doesn't set until 7:30. Also the ground around the pool is terribly designed it is so slick when wet and I actually saw 5 people fall really bad by slipping. You have to be very careful. That said it’s a beautiful pool and steps from the private beach which you cannot beat.
THE FOOD - DON'T DO IT!!!!!! I cannot stress this enough. THIS IS A HUGE MISSED OPPORTUNITY. It got to the point that we were ordering doordash because the food is SOO BAD. Across the board. First of all I noticed they are using all processed purees, all sugar. Why are these not produced by the kitchen. Everything is processed and you can taste it. It’s offensive to spend that much money and be served food in dirty dishes and for the most part cold. Also plan to wait about 45 minutes and plan to not get the right order. Then the staff will tell you that the pool is not a priority for the kitchen. Today I had dinner reservations and I waited 1.5 hours for the check while the staff hung out at the bar, I even say one server brush her hair. Finally when they came to me another server “sorry the other server was afraid to bring this to you” I responded “why?” He said because they added items to you check that you didnt order” I only pointed it out to her. I was not mean at all.
This is very rude.
In an effort to be constructive, as someone in the hospitality industry. I would love to come back here it is so stunning, but the lack of attention to the guest experience is awful. It’s actually embarrassing for people spending so much money.
That all said, it is a beautiful property and it’s being wasted. I am a pretty mellow guest overall, I get that it must be very difficult to run a property like this but the rates should absolutely reflect this.
I would 100% stay again, because the property itself is STUNNING and you cant get pool and beach access the way that this hotel offers it. It is just so beautiful and you cant beat that. Going in July is ideal and the weather was PERFECT.
