• Jan (9/5): Stylish, modern, friendly hotel - It's a lovely small hotel with a location right on the seafront. Our very large room was very stylish and well appointed with a stunning seaview. The room was clean, the bathroom was modern and the bed was very comfy. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Food was tasty and again, service was excellent. We enjoyed the pool. which was very modern. We really enjoyed our relaxing stay at R Degrees and would definitely recommend it. Not much around to walk to but we had DBB so didn't bother us.

• Neringa (6/5): Delusional hotel - The hotel has nicely maintained garden and right by the beach. Restaurant staff is lovely and helpful. Even we booked breakfast and diner package, water not included in it and hotel charges more than 2 times the price outside the hotel. Only Sri Lankan food was enjoyable which was rare or needed to precook. Western cuisine flavours is nowhere western and incomplete recipes. No salads for bfast (only two thin slices of old cucumber). Hotels lay out is inappropriate which makes non suitable for families with small children - restaurant is spread on all bottom floor so if you would like to go to the garden/beach, you have to pass the tables where people are dining. There is no separation between hallway and restaurant which made extremely difficult our special needs kids not to disturb the diners. Also bottom floor rooms exit straight to the restaurant. Hotel states has a SPA. I couldn’t book any treatment as therapist was on holidays during all our stay. First night our daughter was scared by cockroach crawling on her in the bed. Husband was hunting for them all 3 nights (4 massive cockroaches). Coffee table had a nail sticking out. Bedding was ripped. Boutique hotel? Only the name but not hotel itself. We booked this hotel for our last 4 days in Sri Lanka to relax and rest but bared only 3. It was most expensive stay in this country but the worst experience. When I mentioned to receptionist the reasons we checking out earlier I received only apology. When reached out to booking.com regarding partial refund, I was informed hotel refused to go into agreement.
• Markus (9/5): Ruhiges Hotel mit traumhaftem Strandabschnitt... - Das Personal war wirklich sehr freundlich. Bei der Ankunft haben wir ungefragt ein kostenloses Zimmerupgrade erhalten. Der Strandabschnitt mit den malerischen Felsen im Meer ist wunderschön. Die Zimmer in der unteren Etage sind durch den angrenzenden Frühstücksraum leider etwas hellhörig. In der Nachsaison kann es etwas einsam werden, da es rund um das Hotel kaum Möglichkeiten für Restaurantbesuche oder Einkaufsmöglichkeiten gibt.

• Ava (10/5): Tolles Hotel zum Entspannen! - Schönes Hotel, toller Pool und super Strandlage! Unglaublich reichhaltiges Frühstück! Nettes Personal. Das Gym war nicht mehr wirklich funktionsfähig.
• Anna (8/5): - Ubytování bylo moc krásné, čisté a byl zde klid. Nelíbilo se nám, že při příjezdu jsme čekali cca 2 hodiny na to než se nám uklidí pokoj i přes to, že jsme zde byli na čas check-inu. Nikdo si nás moc nevšímal a když už byl pokoj připraven a my měli spoustu těžkých zavazadel tak se na nás zaměstnanci jen koukali a nikdo nenabídl pomoc.
• Wendy (10/5): Fabulous location - This was the biggest room we stayed in. It was so big it had 2 air conditioning units, so it's always cool. The balcony was also a good size. This was accessed by two large doors, which could be difficult to open, but we managed okay. It was lovely to have a bath, as well as a shower, and lots of hot water. We ate in most nights, which was genetally good. We tried Willamama on the beach, and the food was very good and excellent value for money, including a bottle of wine, which was half the price of the hotel. Fabulous views, including the sunsetting. Lovely beach directly in front of the hotel. Lots of sunbeds, sunshades, and fresh pool towels daily. Nothing
• Ute (8/5): Nettes Hotel mit gutem Service. - Es ist alles sehr gepflegt. Der Pool ist groß und sauber. Das Frühstück war abwechslungsreich. Der Architekt hat die Außengeräte der Klimaanlagen in dem Außenbereich des Restaurants und unter unserem Balkon platziert. Das ist eher unglücklich gelöst.

• Karen (9/5): Beautiful location with sea views and huge rooms. - We returned to this hotel after 2 years because we enjoyed it so much the first time. It has a wonderful setting in gardens overlooking the sea and is very peaceful and relaxing. Sunbeds are arranged on the lawn where there is direct access to a beautiful beach. I would say the hotel is soon to need some upgrading as some areas are looking tired. Considering the hotel’s rating I would have expected dressing gowns to be provided which are not. As we suggested on our last visit it would be an improvement if staff provided a drink service around the pool and beach front area. As it is, if you want a drink you have to walk right up to the bar in the reception area.
• Julia (8/5): - Das R Degrees liegt an einem wunderschönen Strandabschnitt, die Zimmer sind sehr groß, der Pool Bereich ist perfekt. Man ist beinahe alleine und kann wunderbar entspannen. Ab der 2. Nacht hatten wir Kakerlaken im Zimmer. Das Personal hat sie dankenswerterweise immer sofort entfernt, jedoch ist es nichts, was man immer wieder, auch am Bett, im Zimmer finden möchte bei einem 4 Sterne Hotel. Wir hatten das Erdgeschoss Zimmer neben der Küche. Wir wissen nicht, ob das Problem auch in anderen Zimmern herrscht. Die Lüftung im Bad hat sehr gestunken, auch wenn sie nicht an war, so dass man Nachts davon im Zimmer wachgeworden ist.

The location is excellent – peaceful and surrounded by nature, yet still close enough to the main attractions. • Petra (10/5): - Unglaublich schöne Anlage und perfekt zum relaxen. Da es nur 10 Zimmer gibt, ist die Ruhe sehr angenehm. Das Zimmer war sehr groß und die Betten waren sehr bequem. Der Pool mit Blick auf den Garten und den unmittelbaren strandzugang ist wie im Bilderbuch. Der sandstrand ist umwerfend und man glaubt, dass man im Paradies ist. Keine Menschen und einfach nur schön. Wir waren t Nächte und haben uns richtig gut erholt.

• Pola (10/5): Boutique-Kleinod direkt am Meer - Die Lage direkt am Meer, wunderschöner, ganz leerer Strand. Sehr kinderfreundlich und aufmerksam Familien gegenüber. Wünsche wurden schnell erfüllt, überhaupt sehr guter Service, und die Zimmer sind sehr schön und sauber. Das Essen im Restaurant ist sehr gut (aber hat einen stolzen Preis), das Sri Lankischen Frühstück eines der besten unserer gesamten Reise - unbedingt vorbestellen.

• Emma (10/5): - R Degrees was the perfect final stop for our honeymoon. After spending the first three quarters of our trip exploring the south and south-east of Sri Lanka, we wanted to stay in Ambalangoda , closer to Colombo Airport, to slow down, relax, and simply enjoy the sun, sea, and beautiful coastal scenery — and R Degrees delivered exactly that. The accommodation and facilities were immaculate, spacious, and spotlessly clean. Our suite was incredible, with a beautiful balcony overlooking the pool, a lawn lined with palm trees, and the Indian Ocean beyond — the view was truly stunning and something we’ll never forget. The staff were exceptionally attentive, and nothing was ever too much trouble. They would often walk down onto the lawn to take drink orders, or if you headed toward the main hotel, you were more often than not greeted before even reaching the bar. The service felt effortless and genuinely warm. The beach itself was gorgeous, and there were one or two small beach bars nearby if you fancied a change of scenery for sunset drinks. Overall, R Degrees was a wonderful place to unwind and end our Sri Lanka adventure on the perfect note.

• Olesia (8/5): - Расположение хорошие на пляже.Живописный пляж.В целом хороший отель со сврей небольшой территорией,где можно поплавать в бассейне и позагорать.Океан времега купабелен,если пройти правее или левее от пляжа.Завтраки обычные.Питались в основном в кафе ,если пройти от отеля правее метров 500 на север,очень вкусная еда,в отеле не ужинали.В номерах есть вме необходимое,тапочки имеютчя тоже.Персонал очень хороший,поздравил с Рождеством,подарил пирог. Снимаю балл за то,что есть те,кто проживает в отеле и купаются в бассейне в одежде и причем в грязной одежде,после чего в бассейне не поплавать уже.Также ,если ты лежишь на территории отеля ближе к пляжу,то туда подходят местные бич бои и нарушают твое личное пространство,хотелось бы,чтоб у теля была охрана,котопая не допускала этого на территории отеля.

• Dedigama (9/5): A truly relaxing and memorable stay, marked by warm hospitality, excellent service, and beautiful surroundings. - We spent a few days at R Degrees and had a lovely time over Christmas with family. We received a warm welcome, the rooms were spacious and very clean, and the food was delicious. The pool is lovely and overlooks the ocean, making it a perfect place to relax. The hotel also has a spa, where Mrs. Tharanga truly helps you unwind with her wonderful Ayurvedic massages. A big thank you to Mr. Sachin, the Manager, and his entire team for their excellent service and constant attention, as well as to the Chef de Cuisine. A special thank you to Devinda, who took great care of us at the restaurant. We will definitely be back soon.

The staff were so attentive to your every need and couldn’t do enough for you.The vibe in the hotel was so good and relaxed, making the whole stay such a great one.The choice at breakfast was really good and varied,the food in the restaurant was so good, we ate there most nights, as it has great options for everyone.
• Pola (9/5): Schönes Boutique-Hotel für Ruhesuchende - Die Lage direkt an einem der schönsten Strände ist unschlagbar. Es sind nur wenige Leute am Strand, gute Schwimmer können sich bei gelber Flagge zum Baden reintrauen, Kinder eher nicht. Klettert man links über die Felsen, sind einige Lokale dort am Nachbarstrand direkt im Sand. Ganz tolles und reichhaltiges Sri Lankisches Frühstück - aber man muss es vorbestellen. Unbedingt ein Zimmer mit Meerblick nehmen! Überall hört man das Meeresrauschen, der Pool ist richtig toll und man kann sich Essen und Getränke dorthin bestellen. Auch das Personal war unglaublich freundlich und hat sich genau gemerkt, was wir mögen (beispielsweise habe ich einmal nach einer frischen Kokosnuss gefragt, die sie nicht hatten, zwei Tage später wurde sie uns als Überraschung gebracht.) Auch wurde und bei kleineren Anfragen immer sofort geholfen, und unser Kind wurde sehr freundlich behandelt. Leider hat die Zimmerreinigung nicht so genau geklappt. Wir waren recht viel auf dem Zimmer, daher hatte das Team es schwer mit uns. Aber wir haben immer Bescheid gesagt, wenn wir einige Stunden weg gegangen sind, dennoch hat es selten in unserer Abwesenheit geklappt. Auch mussten wir immer um genügend Handtücher bitten, da uns jeden Tag zu wenig gegeben wurde . Ein Mückennetz hätte ich mir über dem Bett gewünscht - aber danach gefragt haben wir nicht, also dürfen wir uns nicht beschweren. Die Preise im Restaurant sind wirklich sehr hoch (essen aber gut!).

• Kristina (10/5): Шикарный уютный бутик отель на берегу океана! - Отличный отель прямо на берегу океана! Семейный номер очень просторный с огромной террасой. Персонал очень дружелюбный, во всем помогают! Завтраки вкусные и сытные, фрукты, сок, яйца на выбор, добавки к ним, хлеб с джемом и маслом и десерт. Можно также пообедать и поужинать. Ужин из сет меню стоит 5 т. рупий на одного. Территория ухоженная, красивая! Бассейн отличный, дети были в восторге! Пляж очень красивый, с камнями и офигенными закатами! Плавать в океане конечно невозможно, волны большие, но покататься на волнах и поплескаться в «ваннах» перед камнями отлично, особенно детям! Недалеко от отеля есть супермаркет. Если выйти на пляж и пройти вправо за большие камни, где качели висят, там очень классное кафе, где можно вкусно и недорого поесть! Единственное, это комары. Они спать мешали, наш один фумигатор не особо спасал, слишком большое помещение было. Надо штуки три точно в номер.

• Sophia Winkler (10/5): Wonderful staff, calm location and delicious foods - The staff here are absolutely amazing! Everyone is so friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help — nothing is ever too much trouble. The location is perfect, with direct access to one of the most gorgeous beaches — ideal for watching the sunset. The hotel is very family-friendly and maintained to a high standard. Everything, from the rooms to the common areas, is spotless and well cared for. The food is delicious, especially if you enjoy Asian cuisine (particularly Sri Lankan dishes). Both the food and cleanliness deserve a full 10/10!
• Marion (9/5): Sehr schönes Strandhotel - Das Zimmer war riesig und das Bett war sehr bequem. Es gab eine Whirlpool Badewanne. In dem Pool konnte man ein paar Bahnen ziehen. Der Strand ist wunderschön und lädt zum Spazieren gehen ein. Es handelt sich um eine kleinere Hotelanlage, mit sehr gutem Personal und einer sehr schönen Ausstattung. Wir würden das Hotel nochmal buchen. Da wir Halbpension gebucht hatten, konnten wir zwischen 2 Gerichten pro Gang wählen. Das Essen war nicht besonders schmackhaft aber in Ordnung.

• Stefanie (10/5): A perfect stay at R Degrees Boutique & Spa Hotel in Ambalangoda! - I only stayed for one day, but it was absolutely wonderful. The hotel is beautifully located right on the beach — you can hear the sound of the ocean as soon as you wake up. My room was very spacious, and the staff were exceptional — friendly, attentive, and quick to fulfill every request. The garden terrace with its lovely pool offers a stunning view of the ocean, making it the perfect spot to relax and unwind. Even though my stay was short, I felt completely relaxed and genuinely cared for.

• Kati (9/5): - Äärimmäisen ystävällinen henkilökunta, huone oli todella tilava ja aamiainen runsas. Uima-allas ja rannan läheisyys olivat loistavia. Ruoat olivat maistuvia. Ilmastointi toimi hyvin. Huoneessa oli perustykötarpeet; hammasharjat, suihkuhatut, partahöylä, saippuat, kampa ja pumpulipuikko/vanulappusetti. Tallelokero. Hotelli tarjosi illallisen viimeisenä iltana, se oli loistava ja pöytä oli katettu kauniisti ulos. Huoneessa 1 iso sänky ja 1 pieni, joka oli kiikkerä ja hankala nukkua. Ruokailutila ei ollut kovin viihtyisä. Kielen kanssa pieniä vaikeuksia, mutta asiat kuitenkin selvisivät. Pesupalvelu viivästyi, vaatteiden piti palautua seuraavana iltana, mutta tulivatkin sitä seuraavana aamuna.
• Alvaro Perez Morala (6/5): - Прекрасный вид на океан, каждый номер как отдельная вилла Еда ужасная, брали завтраки и ужин. Ужин 5000 рупий, из всего смогла съесть только салат с капустой и курицу. Остальное все невозможно в рот взять настолько все острое. Если вы не привыкли к острому, то есть вам тут будет нечего Завтраки тоже ужасные: рис во всех его видах, даже нет омлета, только вареные яйца, каш нет. В общем не понятно за что заплатили. Кофе только растворимый, никакого даже десертика или булочки нет. Только тост и джем. В общем позавтракала только вареным яйцом и тостом и это отель позиционирует себя как 4* Номер: дали со смежной стенкой с кухней (104), с 3х утра я не спала, постоянно что-то двигали за стенкой, разговаривали, в общем слышимость ужасная. Двери все рассохлись от влажности Единственный плюс этого отеля- это очень близкий выход к океану и вид, но таких с целом тут много Персонал старается, к нему нет претензий, но отель не дотягивает до 4* Пожелания к отелю: если хотите больше европейских туристов, наведите порядок с питанием и не фигачьте столько острого, есть невозможно

The hotel had a total of 10 rooms, Each room was huge in size. 3. The food was fantastic, which was a set menu. With choices. Service by the restaurant team was fabulous. They made our stay superb. 4. The pool was very clean, and my daughter loved her time. 5. The restaurant team set up our dinner on our ground floor balcony. It was food, open sky, nature, wind from th beach. Family enjoyed our candel lit dinner all 3 days with wine. 6. Walking every day on the beach in the evening. Which has stonnery beach too. Making the whole experience out of the world. 7. My daughter is 8 years old, maxe this statement- My Best Holiday. Room cleaning team on arrival, had not cleaned the room. The bed sheet has not changed. Was very disappointed. Made them change and clean everything. Would have rated 1. But later, service by the restaurant team and other amenities made us rate them overall 9. The room cleaning team needs to seriously Up their game.

• John (10/5): This was one of the best hotels I've stayed in anywhere, if going back to Sri Lanka would stay again - A smallish hotel with 10 rooms, all a very good size sitting above the beach but without the noise of traffic. The food was well prepared and made use of a lot of local products, a good kitchen. The pool was cleaned daily and in very good condition and the gardeners do a magnificent job keeping the grounds looking magnificent. It's not really something to dislike but the hotel seemed out of place without a decent coffee machine.

Ich habe zum Beispiel eine wohlwollende Bemerkung gemacht und gesagt: „Schade, dass Sie nicht genug frischen Fisch à la carte anbieten.“ Am Nachmittag kam der Küchenchef zu mir, zeigte mir seinen Einkauf an frischem Fisch und fragte mich, was ich wählen würde, wenn wir im Hotel essen würden. Das ist so selten und überraschend. Und das alles mit einem Lächeln.

• Marco (9/5): Beautiful property with great ocean access - The property is beautiful, very well maintained with a lush garden right by the ocean and a big, clean pool with ocean view. The layout is great and even if all rooms are occupied, it doesn’t feel crowded. The beach is clean and empty with a swimmable corner and lovely to dip or watch the sunset. A supermarket and cafe is within walking distance. The service was friendly and welcoming. The kitchen / bar closes early, you can’t get a drink at 11pm eg - it feels there’s mostly 60+ year old couples staying who aren’t leaving the hotel and eat early (and give you a little side eye whenever they can - nothing that the hotel can change but that’s the crowd here), there is not much around, you will def need a TukTuk to get to the local restaurants, except for some beach restaurants (which also close around 10pm) Also sea view in the room description is a big word: we had a corner room and few centimeters of “view” next to various ac maschines.

• Malgos000 (9/5): Very nice for relaxing stay near the beach - Very nice boutique hotel. Got a very spacious ground floor room with big bathroom and own terrace in front of the room. I think a room upgrade. Good restaurant on site. Weather was not supportive much to use swimming pool but it looked nice and must be a plus on sunny day. Direct beach access, but no walking on the beach really as it is short ending with rocks on both sides.

The mask museum just 10 mins walk. Limited choice for breakfast, but more than enough. There is a menu with few options. For two days it was okay but for longer holiday it can be an issue.

• Karen (9/5): Amazing location with the best staff - Our room was incredibly large with a huge balcony overlooking the beach which was amazing.The bed was comfortable and everything was kept clean by the housekeeping staff. The staff overall were very friendly and tried their very best to make sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. They brought in wine for us to have with dinner and every day asked what we would like to have to eat. The garden leading down to the beach was beautifully maintained and we enjoyed seeing the kingfishers in the grounds every day, the waves crashing on the rocks in the sea and the absolute beauty of the outlook. We enjoyed dinner on our balcony three times and once in the garden and we loved walking along the beach to the only beach bar for lunch. The massages from the in-house masseuse were also a highlight of our stay here. Thoroughly recommend a stay at R Degrees and would go back in a heartbeat. We suggested to the Drinks and Beverages Manager that it would be a great improvement to have a means of ordering drinks and snacks from the garden/pool area. At the time we stayed, the only way to order a drink or snack was to get up and go back into the reception area (not ideal). Hopefully they will find a way to make this happen which would not only help guests to relax but also offer an opportunity to create more revenue for the hotel. We also suggested the hotel provided a bin by the beach so guests could dispose of their own litter as well as anything they could collect from the beach to keep the beach area clean and safe - this they did immediately.
• Ashleigh (10/5): Exceptional - This is a wonderful boutique hotel, literally on the most stunning stretch of beach, a long golden stretch of sand and super quiet. All the staff were so hospitable and friendly. The rooms were large, bight and well appointed, the pool is gorgeous and there is lots of space to sit and enjoy a drink and a bite to eat.

• Dilan (10/5): An excellent stay away from some of the busy tourist hot spots - This was a surprisingly good stay! As a small boutique hotel the staff were warm, attentive and welcoming. Check in was super easy and we were in our room within minutes. The room was newly furnishes with modern décor, large with good facilities. The large sliding doors opened onto a patio with a table and chairs and then walk out with access to the pool and beach areas. The pool was pleasant, the access to the beach is great with a private grassed area which you can relax on and then wonder on the public beach at your leisure. The beach was not at all busy and actually quite nice, although the sea was a little rough for leisurely swimming. The kitchen staff were accommodating, the food was excellent. As much as the food was excellent my advice would be to stick with the local cuisine options as these were far superior to international dishes.
• Anna-karin (8/5): Wonderful place with great location - The room was fantastic with a beautiful garden and ocean view. The location is great, with a quiet beach, far from all the turisty places. The pool is great and well maintained, so is the garden. As there are only 12 rooms the athmosphere is relaxing. In contrary to previous reviews, WiFi worked very well. There is much more to ask for when it comes to the kitchen. We stayed for many days, and the dinner options was almost the same every evening, with only slight variation. It is a pity that only ”western” food of average quality is offered, it would have been great with Sri Lankan food among the dinner alternatives. The breakfast could also have been better… The staff varied, some were attentive, while others were not.

• Sylvia (8/5): A beautiful hotel but a bit too far from the tourist areas. - The hotel is clean, fresh and inviting, it has amazing views onto the beach, comfortable rooms and the staff are very attentive. Laksiri was a wonderful member of staff, who kept the balance perfect, of being helpful but not too over keen to please. For us it was a bit too off the beaten track, although the food was good, it would have been nice to be able to have something different and there was nowhere else to go. Staff are lovely but can be a bit too attentive.

• Arif (8/5): Could't sleep well because of the loud but in generally good place to stay - Location is good , staff is well, breakfast is also tasty In the room bed sets are un clean, rooms wall is like cartoon every loud are listening from the room there are have some religious music every early morning like 05:00 o clock till 10:00 (it's actually takes 20 minutes but they put it on repeat for 5 hours couldn't sleep well for that reasons)
• Petr (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful small place with family atmosphere. It is right on very long beach where you can spend time walking or relaxing. Also 2 min ealk is supermarket and 10 min walk is a city (and wine shops :-)). Employees including cook are friendly and nothing is a problem.
