• Canberrareviews (10/5): A pleasant surprise stopover out in the country. - Who goes to Monto? Nothing to do there, but a convenient waypoint when travelling from A to B. Three motels in Monto and this would be the pick of them. Just a little out of the centre of town but benefits from being quieter. Homely but not too fancy from the outside. Very clean and comfortable. The dining area and bar come as a surprise - much better than you would expect from a modest looking establishment in a modest little town. The proprietor Cliff is a great country larrikin once you get him talking - worth the time to share with him.

• Harrisbr (10/5): Nothing was too much trouble - Cliff and Georgie did everything they possibly could to accommodate our family at short notice. No request was too much trouble. They were very friendly and helpful hosts and provided great country style meals. My only complaint was that the meals were too big.

• Venture34118763472 (10/5): An overnight stay in the Colonial Motor Inn - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had a wonderful stay at the Monto Colonial Motel. The rooms were spotless, comfortable, and well-equipped, with everything we needed for a relaxing break. The location was convenient and quiet, making it perfect for a good night’s sleep. The Restaurant was cosy with a log fire and the portions were beyond generous!The owners were welcoming and went above and beyond to make sure we felt at home — Highly recommend to anyone visiting Monto!

• Y2815OJpeterm (8/5): Monto Stop - Monto is a cool small town, with plenty to do for a few days off. The Colonial is always a quiet, safe and friendly place to stop, with the feed exceptional quality and price. Although the rooms are a bit dated, they are very comfy and clean.

• julie (2/5): - I can’t believe the positive comments people have left for this hotel. Based on my stay I cannot understand. The hotel is sold rundown and the rooms are very neglected. Starts by the stains in the carpet as you walk in the door continues to the hole in the wall behind the bed the hole in the ceiling above the TV. The fruit that takes up half of your hanging space in your wardrobe so can’t actually hang any clothes Staining in the toilet staining in the shower. It just continues and goes on and on. The walls are so thin that you can hear the conversations in the range. Next Door the curtains are not blocked out and so thin but they let the light in outside or if you’re inside with the light on shows what you’re doing inside the room to the people outside. Also, the noise from people coming up and down the stairs or just walking past your room. We absolutely froze and the air-conditioner doesn’t work so unable to maintain any walk in the room.

The owners and their daughter are the epitome of hospiitality. Will always stay there when we are travelling tthe back road from now on.
• Marion (1/5): Bad - This is a run down motor inn and very basic. It was clean. The proprietor put the motel keys in a box outside the reception area. His contact was a brief hello.This was a one night stop over.I really do not recommend staying here.

• Michael-4551 (4/5): Disappointing - When I arrived, the place looked deserted, the office was unattended and the key to my room was in a box outside reception. To say I was disappointed is an understatement, the place looked run down and in need of an update. The room certainly was showing its age, long overdue for a makeover. I decided to make the most of it and put it down as a bad choice on my part this time.

The room was spotlessly clean and The bed was very comfortable with lovely sheets and pillows, and it was so nice to relax after a long days drive. The rain shower was also good. The bar and restaurant had a cosy ambience and the meal with salad bar was very good value. I would recommend this motel for a night or longer to explore the lovely countryside around Monto.

• H9871YMchrisd (10/5): Best stay in Monto - The Hospitality of Georgie and Cliff is second to none. The food is is excellent quality and very generous serves. The rooms are comfortable and tidy. The Monto Colonial Motor Inn is conveniently located just a short distance from Newton st which is the Main Street of Monto.

• 928desmondf (10/5): Overnight at Monto Qld - This motel would rate highly although a little dated the welcome and service is excellent. Chris was most helpful when told my wife couldn't climb stairs he rearranged some rooms and got us on the ground floor. The meals were excellent and even delivered to our room. The bar was well stocked even though there was no beer on tap. Chris said they were in the process of getting it on. This motel is what you would expect of good old country hospitality. I think a bit more signage would help as the motel is a little hard to find. But overall a great place to stay If you are in Monto call in and say hi. I know you will get a warm welcome.

• 552kymw (10/5): Wonderful Stay with Exceptional Hospitality! - Great motel - very clean and quiet in a great location where you can walk to the main street. Great hospitality. Great restaurant on site with the most delicious and cost-effective meals including a buffet. The young lady who took the meal orders was so lovely and efficient. Would definitely stay here next time I'm in Monto.

It was self check-in so i never saw the staff/manager. Restaurant closed was bad as there was only a pub open for mesls in town! Room itlwd was basic with no frills but it worked ok

• kainepaulf (10/5): CLEAN, AMAZING OWNER/OPERATORS AND EXTREMLEY COMFORTABLE - My 2 workers and myself have stayed at the colonial motel numerous times over the past few months, for 2 weeks at a time. the owners are absolutely wonderful and accommodating. rooms are always kept spotless, food at the on-site restaurant is delicious and very well priced, I highly recommend the T-bone and ribs!! when in town we refuse to stay anywhere else.

Other guests talked/ partied till 1am on Sunday morning. There was no communication with management. The bedlight was in a box at shoulder height on the wall preventing you from sitting in bed to watch tv/ laptop We paid $161 a night ...a ludicrous amount for a bed and pillow essentially. We wont be going back and would not recommend this place to anyone.

• gkC5480KE (6/5): Clean room with local wildlife attractions - The room and bathroom was clean with well working a/c and cold water in the fridge! Unfortunately there was no flyscreen covering the bathroom louvres so the Monto nightlife (moths, mosquitoes and grasshoppers) came to party. If I’d realised the mosquitoes would be in the room, I’d have brought a plugin with me. Apart from that, the room served my needs.
• Kathleen (10/5): A lovley and friendly place to stay, always clean and comfortable. - The staff are very friendly and happy to help. Very large and delicious meals and a lovely fresh salad bar. The dining room is a great place to unwind in the evenings. The ground floor is not very sound proof, would be difficult for night shift workers to sleep. However, it is a quite area so no traffic or excess noise at night.

The shower was hot and the television worked well. Air conditioning was cold and comfortable . I don’t know what else to say other than I was very satisfied.

We were delighted with our meal and the atmosphere. Managers were very friendly and efficient. They emailed me before our stay to see if we had any special requests. Amazing!! Would stay again without hesitation.
