- Anthony (10/5): Perfect getaway - Amazing - no other words needed! A two night stay in one of the tree houses - had the camp to ourselves , which was perfect. Staff were fabulous and went out of their way to ensure our meals were varied both in location and food . Excellent on both counts . Wild elephant encounter on our way in, had to reroute on the way out due to ele on the road (? Same guy?) . But a great detour . Just chilled in the fish spa and ate lots.
- Erin (2/5): - This property was not reachable by car. There were two signs within a 5 km distance that rather than staying the name of the property as “back and beyond” stated “dehigaha”.... To me that was very strange - didn’t even crossed my mind that could be the same property. Regardless, even though the site describes that the guest should give them a call to arrange the pick up, nobody ever responded to my phone call. Last, I ended up arriving by foot after walking 3km. My recommendation is to stay away from this place and the irresponsible owner.....
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was a unique experience in a forest isolated from the world. Unfortunately it rained and could walk around much as we wanted. Obviously not much amenities or luxuries as you should expect.
- John (8/5): Mitt i naturen - Dehigaha Ela är häftigt ställe eftersom man bokstavligen bor mitt i naturen. Vi, familj på fem, bodde tre nätter i ett trädhus. Det fungerade bra. På kvällen lyses huset upp av eldflugornas sken och på natten hoppar apor runt huset/kojan. Toalett och dusch är fina och det är rent. Maten är enkel men mycket bra och omgivningarna fina. Det går att hänga många timmar på Denigaha Ela och bara njuta. Det går att bada i en bäck, men se upp för fiskarna som gärna ger dig en spontan fiskspabehandling. Det enda negativa är att det ligger ca 30 minuter från Sigriya.
- Derwin (10/5): A Wonderful Stay - This was an amazing place to stay. Surrounded by jungle and wildlife, it's an easy place to kick back and relax. The creek is a fund place for the family to splash in. We explored up and down the creek climbing over waterfalls and fallen trees. Free fish spa as well! The food was very tasty and fresh (they have their own garden). The staff was very helpful. Mahesh led us on a great trip. He's very knowledgeable about wildlife in the area and is an incredible artist.
- m (6/5): good for the adventurous - If you are planning to book this, go to their website, and check out the information there . It is extremely remote. we had planned to use it as a base to explore the surrounding area with daytrips, but found this difficult because of the remote location, and the fact that you need to be back at the camp before dark. If you are the adventurous type, and looking for a jungle camp with huts, this might be perfect for you, but for us , a family travelling with kids and thinking this was more of a "normal" hotel, it didn't works as well. That beeing said, The tree huts are lovely, and bathing in the river is an experience! the staff are also very friendly :-)
- Tim (6/5): Jungle fever - We didn't end up staying when we arrived !! Middle of no where down a 10km or so dirt track.. Nothing around at all !! Better to stay in the small town at a homestay
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Wer Dschungel-Aufenthalt will, bekommt diesen. Auf sehr positive Weise. Sehr zu empfehlen ist der natürliche Fisch-Spa. Wer einen Akku-Pack mit sich führt, sollte diesen sinnvollerweise aufgeladen haben. Die Hütten verfügen über 12V Spannubgsversorgung.
- DAI (10/5): - 素晴らしいスタッフと素晴らしい環境に感謝します。壁のないツリーハウスで全身で自然を感じますし、たくさんの鳥たちが見られます。ときには虫や動物の気配がするなど森に一泊するということを楽しむことができるホテルでした。気をつけるべき点としては、街中からかなり離れた荒道の先にあるのでタクシーなどかなり嫌がられる点でしょうか。夜中につくと真っ暗なのでお気をつけてください。
- Marijn (10/5): Slapen in een boomhut - Geweldige ervaring om midden in de jungle in een open boomhut wakker te worden, met opkomende zon en apen die uit een boom komen tuimelen. De geluiden van de natuur waren super: krekels, vogels en... in de verte olifantengeloei.
- Michael (10/5): Attention to detail makes wild feel luxurious - We had three nights in two tree houses in August and wished we had booked more. The location and the people deliver so much more than the pictures and description promise. The place feels remote and peaceful, the wildlife is wonderful (it borders a national park), and the rooms are extraordinary: they are open tree houses but they are clean and well-designed, and the bathrooms are excellent. You feel as if you've joined a knowledgeable group of wildlife enthusiasts who happen, also, to be phenomenal hosts. The guided tour of the surroundings is a must, as is wading in the river to get a fish pedicure, and you are an easy 30 min from Lion Rock or the Cave Temple at Dambulla. The meals were simple, modestly priced and locally sourced - and quite excellent. WiFi is sporadic, so just enjoy being back-of-beyond.
