Up some steep steps but once you open the door it’s pure cozy comfort and beautiful finishes. Definitely would recommend and will return!
Special shoutout to coffee shop Crema down the block for their next level breakfast sandwiches. Liked everything

Provided some history on the building and himself. He was so open and friendly. Even invited me to join he and his family for refreshments and solved any issues I had very promptly.

- Bernadette (10/5): - Lighting and bathroom shower and grandfather clock
- Kristen (10/5): Historical home away from home. - I was looking for a place to stay while attending a and stumbled upon The Plainfield Inn. Our main reason for booking it was the location, with it being right in the heart of downtown Plainfield and close enough to the golf course. Justin was super personable and accommodating. Reading about the history of the Inn made the whole experience even better. There are the characteristics of a historical building with modern touches. Our room was comfortable and clean and we even had our own little porch off our room. Highly recommend to anyone who wants a cute little getaway located right near a downtown area with lots of restaurants, bars and cute stores. We will definitely be back
- Doug (10/5): - It was in a great neighborhood. Quiet and close to restaurants. Great place to stay.
- Esther (9/5): - sehr huebsch eingerichtet und gepflegt
- Eduardo (10/5): - Great
- Carl (10/5): - Justin provided a history of the property and was very accommodating. The Inn is close to many great restaurants, shops, breweries, and more. I would highly recommend a stay and plan to visit again!
- Chris (10/5): Cool town with everything you need right on the doorstep - Cool property, spotlessly clean, great location Nothing
- Sandra (10/5): - Everything was great.9
- Andressa (10/5): Very cozy and clean - I stay there to go to a wedding and it was a perfect place. The room was clean and impeccable. I loved everything. The towels were so soft. I hope to come back someday to enjoy downtown
- Susie (10/5): - Very nice historic buildings. Surrounded by plentiful dining and shopping
- Rodney (8/5): - Room was small and we did have a neighbor who had a dog who was noisy. The dog needed to go up and down stairs several times a night which woke us up each time. The room was so small that when we put the suitcase on the floor we had to step over suitcase to get to bathroom. Other than that it’s very nice and clean and comfortable. Stairs are really tough to manage with heavy suitcase and parking can be bad if you come back late. The Parking availability is not the greatest. Close to town which is super nice for evening walks. In nice area and across from park - great for kids.
- Susan (10/5): - It's a renovated historical building but still has the original character and charm, which I really liked.
Super easy check-in/out process, very clean. Owner is very communicative & organized. Good sized fridge & Keurig in the room with a microwave to share in the foyer area, so that was nice. Cute little downtown area with restaurants, shops & a little park. We felt very safe. Property has a tree swing out front that my granddaughter thoroughly enjoyed. We were visiting the museums, etc in Chicago but didn't want to stay in the city so this worked out perfectly.
- James (5/5): Stay was OK but we expected a little more - Beautiful old house, comfortable and clean. Location was center of city. We looked forward to breakfast and found out after we arrived that there was no breakfast. The wedding party guests next door took all the parking spaces. We could have used a chair in our room because sitting on the bed was not comfortable.
- Debra (10/5): Comfortable and easy! 😊 - Really lovely, beautiful, clean, and charming. I just would have liked some Splenda for my coffee! ☕️
- Jaime (10/5): - Had a hard time with the stairs i am 67 years old
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great place to stay - Very clean, cozy, and secure. The location is central to a lot of shopping and venues. The customer service is great. The owner texted us and was available with any questions.
- Jeremy (10/5): Delightful short stay in historic Plainfield. - Hotel chosen on the information on web site including photos and verbal description. What I had not appreciated was that the surrounding (historic) area comprised many similar buildings creating a wonderful local environment including a good range of restaurants and bars.
- Angela (10/5): - I had been wanting to stay here for awhile as it was a close location to family in Plainfield. I was pleasantly surprised when arriving. Will stay here again and hope to visit the local restaurants and shops that are so close. Very nicely done.
- Vero (10/5): This is a lovely place to stay, super comfortable, nice room and nice facilities - The house is lovely, the common area, the room, I loved it!!!! N/A
- Gail (10/5): - Wonderful 😊

- Tricia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Benjamin (10/5): - Second time here. Great location to walk to restaurants. Great couple getaway for a couple nights!
- Adela (10/5): Exceptional - This adorable historic building was very cool, loved a lot of the originality of its architecture. The rooms were clean and super cozy. My favorite was the bathroom, the extra big shower head was wonderful, especially since we’d had a busy day. It was very soothing. The towels were very roomy extra soft. Bed and blankets were very comfortable, along with the temperature in our room. I will most definitely be back!
- Marissa (8/5): Very good -
- ric (10/5): - Very clean
- Carol (10/5): An historic property and a perfect room - Just exactly what we wanted-a distinctive hotel that was quick and easy to find in a nice little town. The room was perfect. Nothing
- Graeme (3/5): It was ok but not up to par with B and B’s or hotels - It’s a rather strange set up. It looks like a house from the outside, which gives you hope that it would be welcoming and warm, but in reality, it was a very sterile and plain room Mechanical noise in walls
- Aditya (8/5): Lovely hotel that we have enjoyed the few times we have stayed. Minor gripes, but overall excellent property. - Historic property, close to restaurants and cafes. Comfortable and pleasant stay. Walls seemed a bit thin & no ability to control individual room temperature. A fan would have been nice.
- Pamela K (10/5): - What a gem! Beautiful, well maintained historical property. Located in the heart of downtown Plainfield with lots of shops and eateries. Will definitely come back!
- Rohn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Athanasios (10/5): - Walkable to downtown Plainfield, IL.
- Angie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christopher (10/5): A nice place to stay. - Nice. Easy access to suburban roads. Nothing really.
- Bruce (10/5): A Cozy Inn with a Historical Significance - My brother and I had a great stay at the Inn while attending the 2024 Plainfield Homecoming. The room was cozy and inviting . The bathroom was stylish and up to date. It was a good idea to have a kitchen and have everything that one would need to do some cooking.
Justin, we enjoyed our talk with you Saturday morning about the history of the Inn. We’re descendants of Chester Ingersoll. We enjoyed seeing the room that you named Ingersoll. It’s a good idea that you shared about the history of the Inn and how it grew along with the growth of Plainfield.
Plainfield is a unique town that still carries its small town love for people, its proud heritage and history, as well as cultivating an atmosphere of kindness to all that stay even for a while to enjoy the beautiful scenic buildings and majestic rolling fields of corn and soybeans. The Village Green is a wonderful spot to relax and watch all the children and families enjoy its offerings.
Thank you Justin.

- Roger (8/5): Nice lodging option in a pleasant town - Great location in Plainfield; very walkable town…lots of restaurants close by. Great bathroom; comfortable bed. On-site parking; nice vibe. Responsive host Spotty WiFi; small room; no comfy chair to relax/read in

- Tammy (10/5): - This was our second time staying here and it’s just perfect every time. Plainfield is such a charming area ans we love being able to walk out the door and have our choice of amazing restaurants. Also, Justin went above and beyond making sure we were comfortable and texted to check in with us. The rooms are nice and cute and clean with everything you need. We will definitely be back!
- John (10/5): - .
- Gillian (10/5): Perfect! - Fantastic place. Perfect in every way. Very tastefully restored building. Extremely clean and comfortable. Seriously better than a 5 star hotel. We got a very warm welcome from Justin and everyone we met in town were so friendly. We stopped on way from O’Hare to Springfield and sorry we only had a one night stay as it’s a beautiful small town with lots of character and good eating places. We had dinner in Sovereign , a one minute walk away as recommended and had a lovely meal. There is nothing negative to say.
We’d love to visit again
- Andrea (10/5): We would absolutely stay here again! - The property was extremely clean, the manager was prompt in answering all questions, and the buildings and rooms were not only comfortable and thoughtfully appointed, but had so much charm! N/A
- Tammy (8/5): Very good -
- Paul (10/5): Fat Tuesday Party - Nice stay. We came into town for a Mardi Gras party, and the Plainfield Inn was just a couple blocks away from the Tavern.
- Sharon (8/5): - We enjoyed staying at the Plainfield Inn. There was good communication between us and the manager making check in easy. There is parking which is convenient but it’s a bit tricky maneuvering while backing out.
- Laurie (10/5): - Great location, the place is always immaculately clean. Showers has great hot water and the house in general was converted in a very nice way to accomdate guests, yet retain its antique charm.
- Jeff (10/5): Exceptional - . .

- Marcine (10/5): - Exceeded our expectations. We live in northwest suburbs & we were attending my sister’s funeral services at Overman-Jones. The convenience of the Inn allowed us to focus on family friends & know we had a safe haven for the night.
- Kenneth (5/5): I’ve stayed here several times and would do itvagsin - Clean rooms
Great cleaning staff
Comfortable bed Several coffee creamers were spoiled
Soap dispenser was empty
People were in the foyer / lobby area making a lot of noise
- Cynthia (8/5): - Very nice -beautiful craftsmanship
- Mark (10/5): Was only for one night. Wanted to be walking distance to everything and n downtown. Was perfect in every way. - Great location. Great look and feel to space. Was not aware it was a walk up. Not a problem for me, but could be for other guests.
- Cindy (10/5): - Loved the property easy to find and loved the house and decor.
- Felicia (10/5): Exceptional - This place is so cute!!!! The shower and towels were top-notch!!!! I'm definitely staying again. It's also located in a quaint town with a place close by for late night food.
- Marie (10/5): - This historic inn was just beautiful and well appointed. Once I was able to sort out the "system" of codes to get in and out of the buildings and rooms, it was GREAT to not have to worry about a key. I booked a large group of family to attend a wedding just around the corner from this inn and it was wonderful. If you have a family gathering and want to have a lovely quiet stay, choose this inn. The beautiful commercial street close by had lovely bakeries, coffee house and was charming. The venue for our family wedding "Sanctuary" was around the corner and allowed for our elderly grandma to make it there safely.
- Kenneth (5/5): Passable - Room lighting was inadequate
Room was stuffy
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Roger (8/5): Great value in a nicely renovated historic building - Easy checkin process (host texts you the access code for the main door and your room door; never met the host); responsiveness of host to questions and requests (i.e., AC is centrally controlled; I found the room to cold for my comfort; host did raise the temp a bit); excellent shower, well functioning Keurig with plenty of coffee to choose from; clean; simple decor; on-site parking; easy walk to plenty of restaurants, bars, and shops. Lighting is dim; no writing desk (not great for business travelers needing to work); only a cushioned fold-up chair which is not very comfortable (no room for a larger chair). All okay for one night
- Anthony (10/5): - Very nice area and clean.
- Jessica (10/5): Loved it! - Great place to stay!
- Naomi (9/5): Lovely stay in a clean and comfortable Inn - Very nice and homey little Inn located in a great neighbourhood. Very clean room and kitchen common area. Friendly and helpful staff. Love the free parking spot and having access to a communicable kitchen area. Wonderful location with easy access to restaurants and shops all within walking distance. Not much to complain about but maybe a little more counter surface in the bathroom or bedroom area would be helpful for longer stays
