- Adrien (8/5): Refreshing wildlife experience - The staff were amazing. Being in the middle of the nowhere. And seeing the clear night sky Rooms have a lot of critter due to the location. We slept with scorpions and roaches. Our rooms had lots of gaps that made it easy to hide. The room also needs a bit of refreshing in my opinion.

- William (9/5): A comfortable stay in a remote jungle hideaway - We loved the remote jungle setting amongst unexcavated Mayan ruins, with exotic birds and wildlife. Our cabin was very comfortable and was equipped with a pair of excellent hot showers. The staff were friendly and the guides very good. The food was good but the portions far too large. We ended up splitting all our meals between two to avoid waste. We were not warned in advance about the roads to and from Gallon Jug, which were in very poor condition, with deep mud and huge potholes. A four-wheel drive vehicle with generous ground clearance is needed.

In the heart of Northern Belize Orange Walk district within a vast wilderness area, the lodge offers a secluded and immersive experience in nature. Nestled amidst 30,000 acres of pristine wilderness, providing tranquility and seclusion surrounded by an additional half a million acres of protected conservation lands, an exceptional opportunity to witness an abundance of wildlife viewing. Thank you to the amazing personnel!! Absolutely horrific roads to get to the 40km in extreme conditions. 2 check points, ha e your reservation ready. The jacuzzi was cold. Extremely expensive for one night.
- Rebecca (10/5): - Chan Chich is an exquisite adventure melding together experiencing Mayan Ruins, jungle experience with a conservation twist. We loved our daily interactions with staff to include Cali who is an expert mixologist, Emil who made everything look easy, Sean who always had a smile, and the wonderful cook Ian. Every meal was absolutely amazing! Maria and Abdiel took care of all our needs at reception including booking excursions and chartering flights. And of course our expert guides Ruben and Louise who knew every bird and the Gallon Jug Flora and Fauna like professors. They are able to share their knowledge about archaeology, medicinal plants, and wild edibles. They know every animal and animal trail and to be on a tour with them in action is truly an experience of a lifetime! I would tell all my friends about this location and go back again! Thank you Chan Chich & Ruben/Louise!

- Nancy Lee (10/5): - Chan Chich Lodge is an unique and fantastic destination. The staff is attentive and prepared to be helpful without being intrusive. The guides are incredibly knowledgeable and eager to share their expertise. The individual cabins are clean and comfortable. The food is farm-to-table with diverse options and always fresh. It is a remote location, but we always felt safe and well-informed about our surroundings. At Chan Chich, you can be as chill or as intense as you want. There's a beautiful pool to sit by, miles of trails to hike, horses to ride, and day-long excursions. We feel lucky to have found this special place.

- Bee-bop (8/5): A quiet, picturesque setting for birders, wildlife viewers, gourmands, and explorers. - Highlights included excursions with Kris, naturalist guide extraordinaire, whose expert knowledge of flora and fauna, combined with a flair for conveying that knowledge with warmth, humor, respect, and compassion make him among the top seven guides I've experienced in my lifetime; scrumptious meals (don't miss the homemade corn and flour tortillas, super fresh pico de gallo, Belizean specialities, fresh-squeezed juices, and granola), served by most personable, kind, and good-humored staff, in a quiet intimate setting; swimming in a fresh water pool, complete with waterfall; and watching the endangered ocellated turkeys, especially the male's mating ritual. Housekeeping could have been more on top of things (i.e. I should not have had to ask for more TP or clean towels, when it was obvious those things needed replacing). Also, while many staff members exuded warmth and friendliness, others were more reserved and sometimes curt, and I wished they could have been more personable.
- Simon (10/5): Magnificent Mayan Treasure - Chan Chich presents a unique experience to the adventurous traveler. We stayed 3 nights at this hidden gem and loved every minute. The lodge is simply gorgeous, our two bedroom cabin was perfect, the food is wonderful, wildlife, mayan history and birding tours are exceptional and the service was impeccable.

- Deb (6/5): Amazing location. A bit pricey for quality of some things. - The grounds are lovely. The farm tour was very informative. The guide was knowledgeable and had very good communication skills. Nice to have the pool. I left a shawl at the lodge and they kindly gave it to a driver who was going to San Ignacio for me to pick up. We appreciate the efforts the Bowen family seem to be making toward conservation. The Gallon Jug coffee and bottled sauces (made on-farm) are the best and offered for very reasonable prices on-site. The maps/signage is not terribly accurate for the trails around the property. We were told that dinner was $45US but one of us is vegetarian and the only option was a cheese and bean enchilada, as opposed to the very good, generous steak option. It took a few questions before we were told that there were prices on each course so it was not necessary to pay the full $45US if we only wanted one course. None of us in our party mind paying for quality but it felt like we were being forced into the "full meal deal"!

The price for food was diabolical for a set menu and there is nowhere else to eat. The same is said for their tours total trap and ripoff we drove in our selves they took the car keys off us so we could not go anywhere by ourselves.

- Coehorst (6/5): wonderfull staff but a bit disappointed overall - the staff is wonderful. very nice helpful and just really great! the gallon jug estate is pretty Our room could use a little updating, mattresses we’re really uncomfortable and it smelt quit musty inside. Our screened in yard was supposed to have a hot tub but unfortunately the hot tub wasn’t working for over a year now. There is also a hot tub at the pool, unfortunately this hot tub is not working either. we tried to book the boat tour to explore the estate, at first they told us the water levels were to high which seems weird and then we later heard that they took the boat out of the water many months ago and it has never been put back into the water. As you understand we felt a bit mislead by all the things that weren’t working / available.

- Luann (7/5): Glad I went. Wouldn’t tho back - too expensive. - Beautiful spot with amazing wildlife. Night tour was great. It was too expensive. The room plus breakfast rate was already expensive for the two bedroom villa but I had to pay about $120 more per day to add one person (making the total three). The price for the villa should include any normal number of people for a two bedroom palatial accommodation. Also, since there is no other place to eat, it would feel better if the prices for lunch and dinner were also rolled into the daily price or if you could purchase a la cart rather than a fixed meal price. So, while it was a great place to go, it was too expensive. Far more so than similarly remote places I’ve been to elsewhere in Central America.
- Matthew (10/5): - This is one of the best vacations I have ever had. The transport was easy to arrange through the lodge and the value by far favors the traveler. The driver was kind enough to point out several interesting finds on the drive to the lodge, including multiple toucan birds (we saw two different species) and countless other animals. The lodge itself is gorgeous! The grounds are immaculate and contain countless bird species. I don't typically take guided tours on vacations but I decided to try a couple on the advice of a friend - it was the right decision. The tour guides are friendly, knowledgeable, and can spot the most amazing animals. I was incredibly fortunate to see a puma, ornate hawk-eagle pair and later their nest with a young eagle, and more birds than I could photograph in my short 3-4 days. The food at the lodge was great, as were the drinks which include many unique creations by their bartender Emil. Overall my only regret is only having 3-4 days to spend there. I cannot recommend Chan Chich highly enough (as my friends at home can now attest).

- David (8/5): Spectacular Venue, Very Nice Lodge, Good Service - Located in one of the most amazing spots in Belize the surroundings are spectacular. The lodge is very nice; the service is good; the venue spectacular. The staff is very accommodating and very helpful. They went of their way to make sure arrival wasn't a problem by assuring access through private land. The food was good but definitely room for improvement. Restaurant staff service could use some work; very nice, and very helpful, just need more training for the simple things; no greeting upon seating, no drink menu, didn't ask for wine, but very friendly and responsive. The accommodations are nice and setting is gorgeous. However, again attention to detail was lacking; cobwebs on fans is always a bummer. They are just a few small steps from being the 5-star lodge they should be. All-in-all I would say it's worth the trip. A bit pricey but the location is spectacular.
- Cheryl (10/5): Exquisite Wilderness Retreat - Ignore the weather warnings! Our stay at Chan Chich in the rainy season was exceptional, blessed with sun and only a few heavy rains that cleared up quicky. We love birds and nature and the location of this property when seen from the air was breathtaking for the expanse of wilderness in every direction. The lodge itself was lovely, staff extremely competent and the grounds immaculately kept. Long may Chan Chich and its reserve remain as pristine and lovely as it is today.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Outstanding natural experience. - You'll experience a true jungle setting with all the advantages of a five star hotel. We had the time of our lives. The guides are very knowledgeable and can answer all your questions regarding flora, fauna, history, and the ancient Mayan ruins on which the lodge is built. The staff go out of their way to make sure your every need is met. If you're into birding, you'll think you're in paradise. I couldn't recommend this spot highly enough!
