Guest Reviews
- Jacques (8/5): It was nice and will visit again - We were upgraded from a lake view to a mountain view and is was great, close to wonderful views and the sound of the water can be heard if you some staff member at break fast was not to friendly
- Guy (8/5): - Excellent Breakfast Pub was closed for renovation which was not disclosed
- Leighché (8/5): -
- Courtney (6/5): - Great view, comfy and warm bedroom. Shower was a little tardy, some repair and maintenance required.
- Daniels (7/5): -
- Box (8/5): Beautiful views will have me come back for more. - Not great. I was expecting the table to be set at our arrival. I opted for the full breakfast, which was mediocre. The chicken livers on the plate were under-seasoned. I was expecting a bit more in terms of attention to detail and aesthetic. I was expecting a buffet-style breakfast and coffee was too expensive at R50 per cup, especially since only one cup was included in the breakfast
- Sharon Burger (4/5): -
- franklin (6/5): - The stay was great, awesome scenary. i do think that the staff can enhance the welcome and general stay.We need more smiles in life
- Mariska (10/5): Wished we could stay longer and hoped for a nice sunshine, but we were blessed with rain - The location and view is exceptional! The reception was a little unfriendly at first. Not a warm welcoming at first.
- Yumnaa (8/5): The villa was amazingly spacious. My family and I loved it!. The Kolkol was the cherry on top. - The serenity of the place was amazing just what we needed. n/a
- Ouma (1/5): - I want my refund we had been writing emails about our experience about the lodge my sister got 3 asthma attacks because of dust and mold, one roll of tissue,we were woken up very because of the grass cutter the machine was too noisy. The distance it was too far we struggled to get an uber from the airport and when we finally got it after 3 hours if waiting we had to pay R1000 to get so that we can sleep in the morning we had to check out
It's not at Paarl it's very far and it was not worth R11000 and some rands
I want my refund for the rest of the days we didn't stay

- Shaakirah (9/5): Enjoyable at du kloof lodge. - I loved the nature and surrounds. River was amazing too.. They could offer more halal breakfast selections
like cereals, milk, yogurts.
A suggestion to have a pool on the grounds for the hotel guests.
- Willem Petrus (5/5): -
- Carmen (9/5): The views and river absolutely restored my soul! - Spacious 8sleeper house. Loved the Kolkol hot tub. Short travel distance from Cape Town. Close proximity to wine farms and Mountain Mill mall. Views are breathtaking, sound of the river so soothing! Bar and restaurant on the premises, very convenient. Fishing dams.
Quick and friendly response from staff when something was requested, ie mop, bucket, kitchen cloths and kitchen towels Braai chimney was not extracting the smoke, so entire house was filled with smoke when we made fire. Kids bedroom leaked when it rained. Knives not sharp enough in kitchen. No proper coffee mugs (only small little tea cups)
Needs entrance mats at all doors, especially when it rains, Needs a mop and bucket in the house.
- Richard (6/5): Scenic but not up to my expectations. - Great location and access to nature. The room was exceptionally small and felt cramped, offering poor value at R2,300 per night. I received no welcome to my pod and wasn’t given the Wi-Fi password. I would not recommend.
- Akshar (2/5): -
- Claire (8/5): -
- Klarissa (5/5): - The views. The service.
- Janice (5/5): Tranquil environment, nature showcased at its best. - The views are spectacular. The property is well taken care of. The environment is safe and comfortable. The layout of the rooms have a good flow. The staff lacks customer service skills. They require sufficent training. The service epecially in the restaurant was below standard and the waiting period for food was too long. Miscommunication and not understanding the mandate.
- Sinntle (10/5): -
- Abdullah (9/5): - Very nice an clean They can make the river to swim in more better by removing dome of the rocks.an have a halaal breakfast menu for Muslims.
- Geline (4/5): Disappointed and struggled to sleep given that anyone walking past our room can see our bed - Breakfast was good and so were the drinks and swim in river Disappointed that there were dead trout floating in the dam we hoped to fish. Also our room had no curtains or privacy and i am almost sure that room is not lettable as it is
- Guy (7/5): Highs and not so high - Deck view of the mountain
Pool in the river Rooms could do with a revamp, eg just one coat hanger
Staff at restaurant could be quicker
Background sound from the highway

Exceptional Location
Nice Breakfast & Dinner
Friendly Staff No Hot water during our stay
Toilet was Blocked
Mould in the bathroom
Staff promised that maintanance would sort out the hot water, no feedback, no resolve
- Diren (8/5): - I liked the view a lot. The breakfast opens late. 8am
- Maristha (4/5): Poor Poor Poor Management of an incredible potential Lodge - The location is brilliant, surrounded by beautiful nature. The chef truly keeps this place alive — the food is incredibly delicious! Sadly the negatives outweighed the positives.
The natural beauty is spoiled by litter — papers scattered around, the trout dam full of plastic that looks like it’s been there for months, and the walking trails have rubbish dumped everywhere.
The pod we stayed in was not suitable for two adults with a small child as advertised — it’s more appropriate for one person.
The wood-fired hot tub’s smoke blew straight into our faces through the gaps in the wooden slats, making it very unpleasant.
The management shows little respect for guests, continuing with noisy construction work even during breakfast hours — serious noise pollution.
The children’s play area shown in their facilities is misleading; the playground is broken, unsafe, and more of a hazard than a play area.
It’s a pity, because this place has so much potential if only it were cared for properly
- Damian (7/5): It was good - The menu for dining is very limited.
- Mahlaba (4/5): Soup limited, wifi buffering ,barthroom not upto standard, eating breakfast with dust downstair gri - View only My wife it was her birtthday she catch a trout thnk to the zim pond guide he teaches very well ,my wife was first day of fishing she catch 2 trout
- de Lilly (7/5): Great staff! - We were there for a bridal shower. The staff was super friendly and very helpful. Thank you! The rooms were quite expensive
- Barend (6/5): Attention to the detail, the small things make a huge difference. - The views are beautiful our 2nd stay was much better than first stay regarding rooms.
The staff are very friendly and accommodating.
The food is of a high standard. The bar area is very grimy and dirty. The pool table is broken and had to keep asking the barman to fix it.
No proper toiletries provided, just one "body wash" poor quality for the price compared to other places with same stars. Our sheets were stained as well.
- Riley (7/5): - The setting is beautiful .Staff is friendly and helpful The accommodation I stayed is was clean and basic
The wooden steps leading up to our room was a bit unstable and could pose a hazard and the paint in the bathroom was coming off .I was unable to find a balance with the water temp in the shower .
Also the included breakfast had limited options . My dietary requirement is halal expect for muesli and yoghurt and berry french toast ,we could not eat from the other options
- mike (4/5): i came to do some fishing,i cannot say my stay was memorable - breakfast was meagre to say the least.
one small piece of toast to go with the fried breakfast but that left none for the jam.
requesting a second cup of coffee required referral to front desk.... waitress seemed suitably unimpressed
regarding bathroom..room 9.. the shower taps were loose as were the taps on the sink......just unprofessional i asked for the steak at supper ........ the steak was not available.
i had the burger with which i was not overly impressed
not being able to put the dinner bill on my room account was inconvenient considering i had to walk back to room in pouring rain to fetch my card.
a request for a couple of additional coffee sachets was met with a singular lack of enthusiasm .
- Geldenhuys (6/5): Not until you sort out your hot water system - There was no hot water. And receptionist tried to make us believe that this was acceptable.
- Melissa (5/5): Beautiful views but slightly disappointing accomodation - The location is stunning! The surrounding mountains make for breathtaking views from any angle. Room 5 could have been cleaner. There were items under the bed, old toothpaste on the wall above the basin and old stompies floating in the ash tray on the patio. Additionally, my partner said his side of the mattress sank into a hollow and wasn't comfortable to sleep on. However, the most egregious problem was the sewage stench we woke up to the next morning! There was water leaking from the base of the toilet onto the floor around it. It was doubly insulting because we had just gotten engaged the day before. What a rude awakening! For this price point, I would have expected a much higher standard as I have stayed in much better places for half the price in CT. Better to book elsewhere. I wish I had.

- Nabarro (8/5): Super friendly staff. Lacking a bit in the attention to detail considering the price. - Staff fantastic and friendly all round.
Scenic stay.
Cosy areas and peaceful.
Breakfast fantastic. My room hadn't been swept and moped as found half a biltong stick under the bed which was disappointing to say the least.
The window was drafty as it was missing screw in the handle in bedroom 1. Electricity went off in the morning for a while so the shower was cold. Very noisy even with the door closed. Would have loved some toiletries especially for the price you have to pay. No heated blanket but the blanket was sufficient.
Had tried to book a table didn't receive feedback and then had a mix up with my freshly caught fish.
For the price I would have expected slightly better overall experience. Not to fault the staff who were great, just more of a reflection on the standards overall.
- Ethan (10/5): It was my first time here and I loved it every bit, Joe at the bar was amazing and I will definitely come back again. - The scenery and cleanliness I didn’t like that the noise levels were still high at midnight.
- Rooy (8/5): Very good - It is a very nice place with very friendly staff! Nothing
- Melt (10/5): Exceptional - Most BEAUTIFUL location with the best Mountain Views. Relaxing atmosphere and very friendly staff. Will definitely visit again. Beautifully appointed room and decor.
- Rob (9/5): A pleasant stay which exceeded our expectations. Good value. - The location is stunning with the mountains as a backdrop. We had a deluxe room which was a nice sized room. We found the staff went out of their way to help us. Our particular room a deluxe room was large but had the bath and shower in the room. We did not like it but some people may do.
- Chantel (8/5): Very good - The restaurant and nature beautiful
- Gadija (6/5): Average. - Glass of juice included plus mueseli cup would of been welcomed. Tap in bathroom 6. Arriving to no DSTV, fixed afterwards.
Toilet roll holder not secured well. Maintenance needs attention.
- Ursula (5/5): Passable - The landscape around the facility is beautiful and the personal helped us with our son's hotel washing - much appreciated. We stayed at Room 19 at the bottom. The Chalet was really cold. Even colder than the outside temperature. There is no aircon or wall panel heater to warm up the rooms. The whole chalet had tile floors which are really cold. The hot water of the shower was not enough that 3 people could show hot and get warmer. Sunday morning when we left it was nice and warm outside due to warm mountain wind but the chalet was freezing inside. We dressed according to room temperature inside chalet to discovered we are over dressed once we went out the Charlet. Would have liked maybe aircon with heat function or wall panel heaters or even laminated flooring.
- Amit (5/5): Passable - The views were amazing The aircon wasn't working, shower leaks all over the floor and the dstv channels had no signal.
- Jaco (8/5): Very good -
- Joubert (9/5): Superb -
- Slawomir (9/5): Breath taking views and location - Great breakfast options. Some issues with A/C operation and few lights not working.
Toilet seat chipped, should be replaced
- Jansen (7/5): Good -
- Chantel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nadine (10/5): Exceptional - The surrounding mountains were mind-blowingly beautiful, and the drive to the hotel was already a highlight.
My room was spacious and comfortable with a lot of storage space.
The food was delicious, and the view from the hotel was incredible.
- Charles (6/5): Pleasant - No towels provided in bathrooms 2 / 3 days
Cleaning staff mopping floors outside rooms 0630 Hours with no regards to guest sleeping.
- Kyla2311 (6/5): Pleasant -
- Mike (8/5): Very good -
- Ernest (5/5): Sadly becoming run down ! - Lovely location, beautiful views Room in desperate need of attention. Bed leg broke, taps loose, curtains old .. clean but dilapidated!
- Sandra (4/5): Was very disappointing - Breakfast was average no with
no Wi-Fi No WiFi
- Simphiwe (8/5): Very good -
- De (10/5): Exceptional -
- Janine (9/5): Peaceful oasis - The Lodge was so peaceful.
We celebrated our 30th anniversary there. Our stay was too short
- Ian (6/5): Pleasant - Great breakfast and excellent location. The room was weathered, no cushions for outside metal chairs, stairs to deck required replacement, no curtain screen for front door for privacy.
- Ian (8/5): Happy with the room and views are stunning - The views The road - right next to N1 - nowhere to run/ walk?
- Zanele (7/5): Not bad at all…But I doubt I will ever visit the acccomodation again - Its quiet and intimate,Good for couple The staff is unprofessional,When we arrived the receptionist was on the phone did not show much interest took us to our room did not give us full info no wifi password,I had to go and as as to what time are we eating breakfast the information was not given to us. We couldn’t eat at the restaurant dinner and Breakfast because “they were busy with something” we had to seat at the pub for both meals both me and my partner we don’t drink or smoke tables at the pub were dusty not clean. Wait very long for assistance even to settle the bill you need to go and look for them.
- Malwandla (2/5): I loved the view on the mountains but I didn’t like the room because it was very dirty, from the bathroom, the bed itsel - I loved the view of the mountains The room was very dirty
- Martin (2/5): Very poor -
- Razak (8/5): Very good -
- Nicole (8/5): Value for money, will be back - Hot tub was great, villa was spacious Air con broken and leaking, dish washer leaking
- Wilkens (3/5): Poor - The breakfast and view are great I think the last minute special accommodation is not commendable. It was dirty , no drinking water available or hand soap and the facility was allover nor very nice for the price
- Talent (6/5): Pleasant -
- Bimesh (1/5): Did not stay here due to the property not being accurately represented on the app vs actual but was fully charged with n - The property was not accurately represented by the pictures on Booking.com vs actual e.g. pictures of a pool was presented but it was only a dirty pond at the entrance which was not intended for swimming. Swimming is only at a river on the property which was ok but there were no staff/lifeguards etc present and swimming is at your own risk. Accommodations and restaurant facilities were also similarly not correctly represented. Arriving with an 8 year old, this was not ideal and was cause for concern. My 8 year old did not want to swim
Nor stay there. The lodge was deserted with only another couple we met that confirmed they had booked in but also had similar concerns viz. the place was deserted and patrons seemed to be day visitors. Whilst the booking was partially refundable on Booking.com, approximately 30 min after arrival and not checking in, I cancelled the booking on Booking.com in front of the manager on duty. He acknowledged my concerns and the cancellation which he noted on his linked cellphone/device and advised that owners/other managers are the only ones that could fulfil the cancellation (in 48 hours) and approve a full refund(which I kindly requested). Such refund has not been acknowledged or processed, we did not stay at the lodge but was charged fully (almost R2000 for the night which included breakfast). I have sent more than one messages on the Booking.com app to customer services, the property and Knightsbridge (whose platform manages bookings of affiliated properties across various booking apps or sites). I have had no responses from any of these parties notwithstanding the many submissions/complaints. Interestingly the pictures on Booking.com have since been removed/replaced/updated! I have used this App previously with no issues but it takes one unpleasant experience to taint opinion. I have given opportunity and time to the property, Booking.
- Alphonzo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shihaam (7/5): Breakaway - Location "I had a great stay overall, with everything meeting or exceeding expectations. However, I think a few small touches could improve the experience even more—softer towels and an air freshener in the bathroom, especially since there’s no window. These minor details would make the stay perfect!"
- Samantha (8/5): Nature was beautiful and silent. . Pity people visiting wasn't the same - The location is exquisite.
The staff was attentative and willing to help Ok our 1st day.. The day visitors were extremely loud. Kids were Screaming at the river.
On our 2nd day the people booked in next door to our accommodation were up drinking, talking and laughing loudly until about 3am.. Very inconsiderate
- Yanga (9/5): Superb - House number 17 had cable ties on some cupboards, even the bathroom cupboards were locked with cable ties, Check-in took 1.5hrs and check-out also had issue.
The overall stay was amazing thou.
- Jefthas (8/5): Very good - I loved that when we had issues with the room the manager presented a fantastic solution better than we could've asked The fact that our room was only set up for one person originally
- Lester (10/5): Exceptional -
