Guest Reviews
- alisontravel1 (8/5): Short but sweet stay! - Overall lovely stay. Beautiful waterfront property near ferry which is convenient. It is an old inn so sound travels but we were quiet at night sleeping! Very clean, comfortable bed and very nice linens. Special thank you to Shoshana who was always smiling and friendly. She helped us jam in as much perfect scenery and island experience into our short stay and we appreciated it! Would stay again!
- Iuliia (10/5): - Attention to history, modern comfort
- Jennifer (8/5): -
- jo (10/5): wonderful - gorgeous location. nice restaurant very thin walls, could hear neighbors easily
- Timothy M. (10/5): 36th wedding anniversary and it was magical. Such is life in the Pacific NE in Autumn - Romantic, Historic, Location Ferry boats can be loud but we used earplugs. The sounds of gulls and water was soothing. Location was next to the Gerry dock, but hiking and most of civilisation was in the too end of the island. Breakfast was mediocre
- joyce (7/5): Overall, it was a pleasant stay in an historic hotel. - Loved the location, close to the ferry terminal and a beautiful view out to the water. Not far from east sound and shopping, etc. Good restaurant at the hotel. Love the vintage decor. Really makes you feel like you’re stepping back in time. Nice touches in the room when you first come in. Beds really need replacing. Way too soft and uncomfortable. The place is a bit rundown with dirty carpeting going up the stairs to the rooms and the porch needs repairing with broken spindles out front. Just needs some TLC. I would love to stay here again if the beds were comfortable. The staff was wonderful.
- Penny (9/5): - Fun historic property with a killer view. We stayed in Room 6 (highly recommend) with a beautiful view across the water and of the ferry as it arrived/departed. Appreciated the comfy bed, super deep awesome bathtub and how easy going they were about our dog as a guest. Would absolutely stay here again. While it didn't bother us in the least I would probably suggest a white noise machine or earplugs if you are a very light sleeper. The ferry lanes are behind the property and a bit of the loudspeaker noise drifts down and if you have neighbors in the room above you will likely hear them walking.
- Guest (10/5): We felt like we were being welcomed into someone’s beautiful home. - The Orcas Hotel was conveniently located across the street from the ferry. We had a beautiful view from the third floor and loved the cookies and lemon water that were waiting for us upon arrival. I loved the character of the hotel and enjoyed sitting and relaxing with a cup of coffee each morning. There wasn’t anything I didn’t like.
- Sharon (10/5): Wonderful stay on Orcas Island - Excellent location, great room overlooking water, great cooper tub, staff was excellent, friendly, cookies and pitcher of water in room, bed was so comfortable and great cafe downstairs to have food and sit on porch and watch the world go by!;) Nothing!
- Kari (10/5): Magical - Unbelievable stay
Historical Property did not disappoint
Can not wait to get back
The location can not be beat
Amazing staff and food was top notch
Make sure you get the clam chowder and watch the Ferries come in
- Tonya (10/5): -
- Naomi (10/5): - Such a sweet antique vibe! The staff was awesome. I got the best sleep of my life and the view was the cherry on top Old carpet
- Lori (8/5): Lovely place, great staff, #9 hotel room does not have air conditioning, most do. - Staff were very friendly. Hotel was pretty and very clean. Loved the copper tub in our room. Bed was very comfortable. I’m guessing for esthetics because our room faced the front of the hotel, we had no air conditioning, while most other rooms did. Room #9. This was frustrating because it was 90 degrees in the room. We were told there were no rooms to swap. I’m guessing the people missed the boat who were next to us, because it stayed empty the whole night, nice and cool, while we suffered in a room that felt like an oven. I payed extra for the tub room, which was frustrating. It was cooler the 2nd night, which was a blessing since I slept poorly the first night. I’m sure when it’s not hot that it’s a lovely room.
- Kay (9/5): Fun and relaxing. - History, comfort, close to ferry No a/c
- Michelle (10/5): Terrific charming hotel. - Our room was great-balcony deck overlooking the water. The cafe’ on site served excellent food -including GF bakery items. Their baked products were exceptional. Very friendly staff at the hotel. Really loved our room. There were rooms above us-people walked around with their shoes on and we could hear everything—music, shoes clicking all around. But it did stop at 10pm. This isn’t anything the property can help. They offer ear plugs—we didn’t need them. The early morning ferry didn’t bother us at all. It was a charming g space and they were accommodating.
- Peggy (9/5): A historic hotel with a nice view, good food, a comfy bed, all convenient to exploring Orcas Island! - Bed was super comfy with 9 hours of sleep the first night, 10 hours the second. The Cafe on site was very good for breakfast, lunch and dinner, leaving us lots of time to explore Orcas Island, including an amazing Whale Watch out of Deer Harbor. Nothing.
- Guest (10/5): - The staff, the bed and pillows and the food.
- Nancy (9/5): -
- Kimberly (10/5): We had a lovely time at The Orcas Hotel. The staff was always friendly and professional. -
- Roberta (9/5): - Staff members were all very helpful and friendly. Hotel was across the street from the ferry!!! Also rental car pick up right behind hotel in park and ride. Two sets of stairs to get to the front of the hotel… difficult with luggage in the rain. Need a ramp confidently located
- Elaine (10/5): -
- Barbara (8/5): Lovely old-style hotel right by the ferry. - Lovely refurbished old building right off the ferry - which was great for us as we could not get an earlier boat and it was dark by the time we arrived. Very friendly staff. And very dog-friendly hotel. There is ferry noise but they kindly supply ear-plugs in each room. Cafe has limited menu but the nearby store has fresh baked scones and muffins for breakfast, and has surprising range of fresh fruit and veg. Lovely deck and grounds. No TV or fridge in room FYI, but they were happy to keep our small bag of perishables in their walk-in fridge. Better options at the cafe would have been nice.
- Paul (10/5): Great historic hotel on a fantastic island. - Right next to the ferry stop. Very cosy historic hotel with super friendly staff and management. Will definitely come back here.
- Josh (8/5): -
- Nancy (9/5): Historic hotel with lovely antique furnishings throughout. The food in the cafe is delicious. - Nice menus and food preparation but I can’t eat eggs so was hoping for some granola and yogurt. We didn’t realize our room was on the 3rd floor and there is no elevator. My husband just had a knee replacement surgery 6 weeks ago so handling the steps up and down was difficult. We did enjoy the big copper bathtub in our room and the view from our window. It’s a beautiful historic hotel.
- Elizabeth (6/5): The atmosphere and view from hotel is wonderful. - Breakfast sandwich was good. We arrived at 8:05 pm with the ferry. Everything in that area is closed. Our room did not have a kettle to make tea or coffee. The Cafe at hotel closes at 8 pm, there was cookies and water in the room. That there was no kettle to make tea or coffee in the room. The trundle bed was awful, it sloped. Better to take it out or renew mattress.
- Sophie (10/5): -
- Kristine (10/5): -
- Guest (6/5): -
- Eric (7/5): Fun getaway, perfect spot - Amazing location, friendly staff, food great The bed was terrible
- Pathfinder690343 (8/5): Orcas Hotel - The oldest hotel on the island. Located very conveniently across from the ferry landing. Save some money and walk on the ferry and rent mopeds for an adventure around the island.
No Tv's, no phones, no refrigerator, coffee maker, or microwave - in room.
Read picture captions for a little history of where you're staying.
Bring a good book and walking shoes.
- DOUGLAS (8/5): -
- Guest (10/5): Very nice hotel with lovely tenants - Location and cachet
- Alessandra (10/5): Confortable y vista espectacular - La ubicación cerca al Ferry, la decoración y el personal muy amable Si vas con equipaje no hay ascensor para subir las maletas
- Marsha-laine (8/5): Beautiful historic hotel with killer views and old world charm. - It was clean and conveniently located by the ferry. Great views from our second floor balcony, GORGEOUS private marble bathroom and accessible amenities. Welcome cookies and lemon water with personal note was a nice touch. Exotic indoor plants - specially the teon hanging Nepenthes pitcher plants Audrey 1 & Audrey 2 over the kitchen to eat flies and bugs! One set of towels with no extras to spare, no extra tissues or Kleenex amenities; coffee service doesnt start until 7am; no extra beach towels for rent; staff gets dismissive at times when busy with lunch service.
- Carla (8/5): Enjoyed the people & historical aspect of the hotel, will probably stay somewhere else next trip. - The historic background of the hotel . Enjoyed wine on the balcony with a beautiful view of the water & Ferry landing . People were very friendly . Thought it was over priced for what we got. Bed & pillows were not comfortable & was too high up making it difficult to get into bed. Didn’t find coffee for the hotel guests. Expected a bit more for the price we paid .
- Deborah (6/5): It was comfortable and ok. Not great, not terrible just good. They supplied earplugs as the ferries outside the windows - Loved the tub in my room. Real b&b close quarters and meet the others at the breakfast cafe downstairs. Really on your own here. Self check in and if it is after 8 pm the house is sleeping. The table next to my bed was on its last legs. No Tv and got the internet code by asking the woman who was there when I arrived. Could have it on a piece of paper in the room.
- Linda (7/5): -
- Ksenia (10/5): -
- Victoria (10/5): Beautiful experience. I wished I had more time to spend there. - Wonderful staff! Nothing. It was beautiful.
- Phil (8/5): Quiet, peaceful. Great spot! -
- Guest (10/5): great stay in a historic hotel with pretty location - Great food in the cafe and the staff is really welcoming. The rooms and common spaces are lovely and the porch and yard/adjacent park are really nice. Fun stores nearby too. No complaints, we just didn't want to leave! :)
- Traylor (9/5): -
- jim (10/5): Very wonderful service - Great service Nothing
- Miranda Hamilton (10/5): -
- Anthony (8/5): -
- sierraj972 (10/5): Felt like home away from home! - Wow- can’t express how much we enjoyed our stay. Only one night and we can’t stop talking about it! Each member of the staff was so genuine and warm, we just wanted to continue getting to know them. You can tell this is a very special place to work and a special place to be because of the care the employees put into their jobs. Ryan was so easy to talk to and made us feel like we’ve been friends for years! Shauna made our stay so comfortable and was so inviting. The rooms are gorgeous and have a classic elegant feel. The flowers on the lawn were blooming- perfect weather to enjoy a nice latte outside. This is a very special place- cannot recommend a stay enough, we already planned our next. Make sure to spend some time with Mr. Lily, the sweetest kitty while you’re there!
- Shawn (10/5): Only wish I got to spend more time at this historical gem! - Just stayed for one night, because I couldn't extend my AIRBNB. It felt like a fun trip into the past. I almost wish I just booked here for the whole trip! I love the old world charm, the location, the view off the 2nd floor deck etc. My dog loved the grassy areas.
- robertbM7484ES (10/5): Awesome Getaway - This is our second visit to Orcas Hotel. We love this place. Ryan is so nice, personable, and professional. The rooms are very clean and well maintained. The food is excellent as well. Right now I am sitting on the patio while they are smoking salmon, and I am petting Mr Lilly the hotel cat. What a great way to get away from the city and enjoy the serenity of this beautiful island.
- Emilie (8/5): Great place, will be back again - Location is amazing, steps from the ferry! Gorgeous patio to sit and relax on! Rooms are excellent, relaxed and friendly place. I would have loved a coffee/tea station and maybe some pastries or something. Most places like this that I have stayed offer that, just adds a little local touch.
- R. (8/5): Restful - Good location, clean room, comfy bed, thoughtful note with cookies at arrival, very good customer service, historical aspect of hotel kept intact, gorgeous gardens on site. I have a disability (that I don't like to mention when not necessary) and I didn't realize my room would be on the 3rd floor with many flights of stairs and no elevator access. I would recommend mentioning that when booking, as I am sure the owners would be accommodating if they knew.
- Patrick (10/5): -
- Ines (10/5): Amazing experience - It had a great location, friendly staff and super clean Everything was great. I have no complaints
- Lisa (7/5): great option in the area. Great staff. "Deluxe Triple room" takes you back a few decades. - Incredibly convenient location from the ferry. We stayed the night before our morning ferry. the onsite cafe had fantastic baked goods and really enjoyable entree options. It was nice sitting in the cafe and out on the porches with a great view of the water and watch all the ferry activity. The staff was welcoming and friendly and very accommodating. Hotel guests had a balcony to catch the sunrise. Well-stocked nice grocery nearby with extensive hours. New juice bar / cafe Harmony Hive Bistro adds to the food options in the area. There was not a whole lot to do in the area, and you couldn't safely walk far from the hotel. We couldn't set the heat / cool in our room. The staff neglected the coffee station for hotel guests.
- Felicia (8/5): - Great location and friendly staff!
- Laura (9/5): -
- Yining (10/5): Dream vacation - Historical, clean and super friendly staff. The hotel has the old time nostalgia charm. Great location as it is next to the ferry station of Orcas Island. The restaurant of the hotel is superb. They are surprisingly delicious. Nothing
- Esha (9/5): Nice location and thoughtful staff in a nostalgic environment. -
- Lindsey (10/5): -
- Cynthia (8/5): Enjoyable - Charm of building Bed was very soft
- SAMUEL (5/5): -
- Kevin (8/5): -
- Gaurav (6/5): Nice location but the facilities could be updated - Location is great, staff is nice and friendly. Hot water was scarce, bed mattress wasn't comfortable and too soft.
- corona (10/5): -
- William (9/5): -
- Rebecca (9/5): Delightful ferry hotel. - Charming old hotel with beautiful original woodwork and old fashioned touches. Bathrooms have been beautifully renovated. Very clean and pretty rooms. Delightful views of the ferry and the sea.
Food was surprisingly good for a small place. Nothing. Liked the hotel and staff.
- Robert (7/5): Unkept property. - View of the ferry Property was dirty outside and the hall and stair carpets were neglected. To reach staff we needed to stand in line at the cafe to get “complementary” coffee. All staff we met were new-less than a year. Very friendly.
- Eliza (10/5): Excellent location and staff; lovely building and delicious restaurant - perfect place to stay - The restaurant at the hotel was delicious and the staff were excellent. The room was small but perfect for a solo traveler and the private bathroom was across the hall and very spacious and clean. The location was right next to the ferry dock and there was designated parking for the hotel. The hotel was quiet and lovely structure. Everything was lovely.
- Aniela (10/5): -
- Robert (7/5): -
- person (7/5): -
- Vicki (7/5): Too slanted for my taste - The views were great Since it is an older hotel, the floor felt slanted this is why I had a hard time sleeping
- Jerry (10/5): - An enjoyable and well maintained vintage hotel. The staff was quite friendly and helpful.
- Angela (10/5): Stay here! - Beautiful old hotel with fascinating history. Manager and staff really go out of their way to make sure your stay is comfortable and pleasant. Rooms are tastefully done, the views are spectacular. I would not hesitate to return. Special shout out to Megan for her excellent customer service. Everyone who works there is great 👍 Nothing
- Ellie (9/5): - Location could not have been better. Staff were exceptional. It was one of the most picturesque, fun and unique places I’ve ever stayed and they took the time for really rad special touches. Can’t wait to go back! Blackout curtains would have been really helpful (My kids woke up at 5:15 in the morning). The down comforter was so cozy and would have been great in Cooler temperatures. But in the summer, the option of a lighter blanket would have been nice.
- Jordan (10/5): -
- Greer (9/5): -
- Ian (10/5): It was exactly what we were looking for in a getaway! - The location, food, staff and rooms were all fantastic! We loved the experience and hope to go back when we get the time again. We could have used another day there!
- Olga (10/5): - The hotel is charming and beautifully designed. The staff go out of their way to help guests with everything. We had a wonderful stay and are coming back very soon.
- Bobbie (9/5): Awesome destination…highly recommend - Friendly staff, laid-back atmosphere, cool historic setting, great coffee shop…to name a few.
- James (7/5): -
- Robin (6/5): Nice but barely adequate. - Good location. Cafe onsite a bonus. Hotel itself intetesting old building. Bare minimum of amenities. No television, phones, or hair dryers. If you have trouble with stairs, no elevators. Unable to open windows. Code sent for outside doors did not work. Fresh water provided first day but after that no where available.
- Uecker (10/5): - This period building and furniture were the perfect complement to sitting on the 2 nd story porch watching the ferry arrive and depart. The lack of television and cable was a surprise but I guess appropriate given the attention to furnishings. In other similar settings the modern conveniences were cleverly assimilated as modern bathrooms were in this setting.
- Sabrina (10/5): Great stay - Nice staff, good food Nothing
- dalene (10/5): Wanna come back to stay longer!! - Beautiful facility scenery phenomenal. Staff exceedingly friendly and helpful. Peaceful.
- darcyd734 (10/5): Wondeful stay - Beautiful hotel!
I enjoyed our stay here very much. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the linens felt like they were high-quality. The cons of staying there are, it’s quite noisy with people above you. Also, there’s no coffee maker, no refrigerator, no microwave no nothing in the room to make food with.
Theres a cafe downstairs, but the food is awful!
The pros definitely out number the cons, with an incredible view from rooms of the ocean. A lovely bathroom with a very deep and nice relaxing tub.
The bed was luxurious! I slept great, despite the noise upstairs.
- Marcel (9/5): Nice hotel with tradition and friendly service - Nice little hotel, fantastic view.
- Mary (7/5): - Location was perfect. Lack of early morning coffee. Seemed to be understaffed. Lack of hangers in closet and no real drawer space.
- Emma (10/5): -
- Analisa (10/5): Very comfortable stay - Beautiful hotel inside and outside I have no complaints
- Conor (5/5): -
- Catherine (10/5): Very enjoyable - Wonderful employees
- Catherine (4/5): Quaint but overpriced stay - Charming old hotel. Nice sitting room and convivial cafe. Nice to see the view over the ferry terminal from one of the balconies. Very poor value for money. My friend and I paid $300 USD a night for a basic room. There was no staff around, except for the cafe staff, the living areas downstairs were unheated and unattended, the fabric of the hotel was shabby, and the basic amenities that we would have expected for the price were not there.
- Colo_travler (10/5): Orcas Hotel - Comfortable and Clean - I spent a night at the Orcas Hotel in December, and I thought it was awesome. The hotel is a historic building that retains all the charm of history. If you expect a 5 start Riz experience, then this is not the place. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The hotel has a nice cafe and dining room with a bar. The parlor is a great place for a game of chess or to read one of the books in their library. The staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel is across the street from the only ferry landing so if you need to catch an early ferry or you just need a place to stay that is near the ferry this is a good choice. I would recommend this for folks the experience of an old-style historic hotel.
- Russell (8/5): -
- Lihong carol (10/5): - Lovely Victoria House. Good food and service.
- Keih (9/5): It’s a beautiful building/location and the staff was great. -
- Cassie (9/5): -
- Marilyn (9/5): -
- Barbara (10/5): Felt relaxed and at home in this historic hotel with fabulous views - Great historic hotel on a hill above the ferry with lovely views, outdoor patio and porches, great restaurant and wonderful staff Nothing
