Guest Reviews
- Gary (10/5): - I got an upgrade Nothing
- John (7/5): It was ok we’ve been before and maybe we would go again. Food was not brilliant we ate mostly elsew - Excellent Sink cracked, low pressure shower, soap rack everything fell out of it. Only one comfy chair (small room I know ) The original design of the building makes things difficult I know.
- Michael (10/5): -
- Helen (8/5): Wonderful stay - The place is absolutely magical and perfect for a relaxed night away. We had the Maple suite which was huge and overlooked the gardens. Large, comfy 4 poster bed with White Company toiletries, water, biscuits and fizzy apple drinks. We borrowed a game from the lounge and had a good night's sleep The fire alarm went off late at night. These things can't be helped though. The bath was also leaking during our stay. We had a report of it leaking into the room underneath. The toilet didn't flush well. These wouldn't stop us returning though as the bath fittings are original so wear and tear is expected. Would like to see a more premium coffee provided in the room such as Taylors coffee bags.
- Rebekah (7/5): -
- David (10/5): Lovely hotel in Woodhall Spa - Upgraded to an executive double room with very large bed. Lovely bathroom with a good size bath.
Restaurant was bright and cheerful, and delicious food.
After dinner walked around their beautiful gardens full of rhododendrons. Not much. Room got very warm even though no heating was on. Opened our windows but had to listen to the flag waving all night. But bed so comfy.
- scott (10/5): Will come back for sure - Excellent
- Duncan (9/5): -
- Andrew (8/5): Good value - Food was good value, service excellent , room clean . Room was large and the grounds and view were excellent. No safe in the room, no way to control the heating , furniture and robes a bit tired. Also no fridge in the room ,
- Ian (10/5): Excellent gardens and beautiful interior - The history behind the hotel and the way it has chosen to remember its connection to the world wars and especially the Dambusters and Bomber command. Nothing
- Peter (10/5): - Everything Nothing
- James (8/5): Perfect all round, steeped in history which was the purpose of our visit - History, pleasant natured staff. We were able to enjoy The Squadron bar and access was nicely relaxed. Lovely grounds. Bar closed prematurely, our 2 twins were of a differing standard
- Thomas (7/5): - The building and its history. The bar food wasn't great.
- Clive (6/5): An OK budget hotel but not a budget price - Its a great location for Woodhall Spa Golf course. Very traditional Staff seem a little disinterested in customer service. Breakfast for £15.00 with limited choice and small.portions. Feels a little outdated
- Sarah (9/5): - not enough milk or tea bags in the room
- Karen (10/5): Breathtaking - Amazing building inside and out. Nice tribute to 617 squadron. Very fitting. Food was lovely. End to end an amazing stay Nothing
- Heath (8/5): -
- Jill (8/5): Nice, interesting, but could be improved - We have stayed here before and knew this time we wanted a room facing the garden. I don't think we had the very best view for the money paid, but it was a garden view. The bed was very soft and we ended up with backache. This wasn't helped by the TV being very very far away from the bed, and weirdly only ONE comfortable chair was provided, so we couldn't use this either.
- Les (9/5): Like a throw-back to old England at its very best … Woodhall Spa is wonderful and the hotel excellent - Fabulous location, beautiful building and gardens, comfortable hotel and excellent food and service. Nothing
- Anthony (8/5): Great location for aviation history buffs - I use the hotel ad an overnight ready for the track at Cadwell Park the following day. It suits me great, although I have stayed in summer and the lack of AC in an eaves room made it very uncomfortable. The place is steeped in aviation history and you may well experience Typhoon jet manoeuvres from nearby RAF Coningsby.
- Maureen (10/5): A lovely stay, wonderful staff and the gardens are magnificent.Great food with a huge choice we are returning with a gro - Lovely old hotel with a fascinating WW2 History. On the edge of Woodhall Spa in beautiful gardens. Excellent staff Since the last time we stayed there seemed to be a lot of dogs especially in the bar. Mostly well behaved but there was some yapping.
- ian (8/5): Very enjoyable short break. May well book again. - Big car patk. Impressive building with interesting history set in pleasant location.
Plenty of public rooms to relax in after hearty breakfast or evening meal.
Most staff very polite and smartly dressed.
Very poignant bar dedicated to 617 squadron.
Comfortable room with good view of the gardens.
Ideally situated to explore 'Bomber county'.
Visited the very interesting museum and Kinema during our stay.
Most of the other guests appeared to be RAF history enthusiasts. Some areas are starting to look a bit worn,.mainlly exterior woodwork and around our windows in room 217..
All restaurant staff with shoulder length hair should tie it back when serving or delivering plated food to guests.
Otherwise, all good.
- Nicholas (8/5): I make business visits and i know what i am getting. - Dinner very good, cooked breakfast average (scrambled eggs looked poor, no poached egg option). Service for both meals was good. My Garden Room (208) was very good. Cleanliness of my bathroom, showed Reception Team.
- Michael (10/5): Would definitely stay again, the gardens and rhododendrons were stunning, the building so impressive. Be sure to visit t - Beautifully located with much history going back to the days of 617 Squadron and the Dambusters. Nothing
- Tony (10/5): As always an enjoyable stay. - A lovely building packed with RAF history. Comfy rooms, good food and drinks. Nothing.
- Graham (6/5): Great place but I'd expect a reduction in price to be over or near the kitchen extractors. - Good food and choice of beers. Comfortable dining area. Great breakfast. Friendly staff. Room was over kitchen so had the noise of the extractors for hours. There was a bad smell of full drains.
- David (9/5): Excellent - Beautiful property steeped in history. Nothing
- David (9/5): -
- Alan (8/5): Stay was satisfactory. Poor WiFi service in today's enviorment is unacceptable. - Very nice and clean. Food excellent. Hotel WiFi was weak and intermittent. Local cell phone service also weak and intermittent. (Not fault of hotel)
- judy (10/5): - The hotel is fab and the staff are very attentive Beds to soft
- Mark (9/5): -
- Rob (4/5): Overall it was ok, would possibly return for meal but would need to reconsider any more overnight - Breakfast was very nice, black pudding overcooked and hard, sausages very tasty, nice selection would liked to have been told could have different cooked eggs eg poached was not told this, a nice touch that they gave my wife a birthday card at breakfast As this was a special gift to my wife as it was her birthday, staff going to the bins making noise at 22.00, and no form of sound proofing between rooms so my wife was awake on and off from 1am due to person in next room continuously snoring which could be heard in our room, this the main reason for the low scores, the whole point is to feel relaxed and refreshed and this wasn't the case
- Martyn (5/5): -
- Hudson (8/5): -
- Robert (10/5): -
- Paul (9/5): -
- TONY MCCRUDDEN (5/5): A lot of money for a poor night's sleep⁸ - Breakfast was poor eggs over done but slimey on top. Black pudding too thin hence why it was hard struggled to cut it. Mushrooms swimming in grease. The rest was good. The pillows were very poor didn't sleep very well. One pillow wasn't high enough two pillows you might as well sit up. One pillow and the cushion didn't work either. Mattress too soft personal choice.
- Elaine853 (9/5): Good hotel - expensive but enjoyable - Staff were friendly. Venue clean and well maintained. The grounds were beautiful. Dinner was good but veggie choice limited and ended up eating a tiny asparagus tart and a veggie burger - not exactly what I expected for £40. That being said well cooked and presented.
Nice room but as always the single rooms always seem to have a scenic view and sound track of bins and bottles!
- Gerald (8/5): -
- JE (10/5): Comfortable, charming and good value also. - Great stay as before.
- Alan (8/5): Excellent value for money, a place steeped in history - The history of the hotel was fantastic, very relaxing and welcoming. The TV was small and situated low down so couldn’t easily be seen, far better to mount them on the wall and a larger TV.
- peter (9/5): Very good value and excellent location - Very nice location. The room was spacious with an excellent bathroom. Meals were very good and the buffet breakfast was very good The rooms do not have air conditioning and therefore on warm nights could be challenging
- Stuart (9/5): -
- B.J. (9/5): Mooi hotel met prachtig park - Mooie kamer, de locatie en het prachtige park achter het hotel
- John (10/5): -
- Barlow (10/5): The Perfect Petwood - Just a perfect place with so much lovely history. It was VE Day too so made it extra special xx
- Mccarthy (10/5): -
- Alison (10/5): Amazing stay at the petwood as usual room, food, drinks, a absolutely wonderful time. - Excellent service outstanding breakfast All was wonderful
- Janet (9/5): A must for anyone with a connection to Lancaster bombers . - Beautiful hotel full of charm and history the gardens are spectacular at this time of year . A must for anyone with a connection to Lancaster bombers . I liked it all.
- Lisa (10/5): Fantastic - Beautiful hotel, friendly staff and lovely food. Lots of history and beautiful grounds. Great location Nothing
- Marc (8/5): -
- Mark (8/5): The hotel itself was very good but the room was not to the same stsndard - The gardens We were initially put in a very small room that was nothing like the photograph of the classic double on the website and we were woken up at 6am by the noise outside. The breakfast was a bit limited. However we were moved when we complained
- PAUL (9/5): -
- Deborah (8/5): - Great hotel. Friendly staff. If I was being really pocky I would say the seats in the lounge were uncomfortable.
- Chris (9/5): -
- Maureen (9/5): A great short break, fantastic weather really worth a visit - Beautiful building with great staff There wasn’t anything we didn’t like
- Marie (10/5): - Have stayed here 4 times I'd forgotten the room sizes highly recommend.the history. Beautiful breakfast as always N/a
- john (9/5): Excellent venue, excellent stay - The location and ambience of the hotel are superb. It was used as an officers mess for a number of WWII bomber squadrons including the immortal Dambusters. The squadron bar with its original memorabilia is wonderful. The staff are very friendly and proud of their heritage. The room are immaculate. The grounds superb. Plenty of car parking. Not too sure about the facilities that the town of Woodhall Spa offers as we had no need of them. The lamb was superb and breakfast very substantial. We had Tuna one evening and it was very overcooked - small point really
- Norman (9/5): Beautiful weekend in a fabulous location - Lovely hotel in a beautiful village x Nothing
- Graham (10/5): We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel boasts a good location, friendly staff, clean rooms, and excellent food and dr -
- Peter (9/5): would recommend - Breakfast was excellent had a good experience
- Robert (10/5): Enchanting location - A dream thank you

- Ruth Vinter (9/5): -
- beverley (10/5): Beautiful - Excellent dambusters history Ev charging
- Duncan (10/5): Fantastic - Returning customer. Fantastic hotel.
- Paula (10/5): Amazing place to stay - Everything about the Perwood Hotel is fantastic. Nothing to dislike.
- Cole (7/5): Rude bar staff - Good location and a beautiful building Unfortunately the two members of staff in the bar Friday evening (a young lady and a rather large man) could do with some hospitality training, they were rude and obviously thought they were more important than they really were.
- Andrew (9/5): Excellent location for the event we attended and indeed would recommend for a short break. - We attended a wedding in the Squadron Bar which was extremely well catered with excellent food and a terrific atmospheric room.
The bedrooms are adequate but the lounge area and outside patio seating was excellent. Just the bedrooms
- Stephen (10/5): A lovely stay at a charming hotel. - Another lovely stay at one of my favourite hotels. A charming place with wonderful staff and a relaxed atmosphere. Non-electric cars park in the two ev charging bays. A little clearer signage would help.
- Colin (10/5): It was excellent. - The whole place was perfect. Nothing.
- Andy Kops (10/5): - Lovely hotel, nice size room and comfortable bed.
- Debbie (10/5): - Everything Young waiting staff dont seem to clear terrace tables frequently. They walk past tables with empty trays without picking up glasses on the tables.
- Paul (8/5): Very good -
- Paul (10/5): -
- Rayonne Sharpe (9/5): Heard about it and how hotel had Dambuster connections - The whole stay was lovely. Friendly staff, good choice on menu, food good, bed comfortable. The Dambuster memorabilia was excellent and very moving. We will be back
- steve (9/5): -
- Alison (10/5): - Excellent & interesting hotel..beautiful grounds.. staff are very friendly & helpful..food is of a very high standard
- Mark (8/5): -
- lydia (10/5): Very enjoyable - Lovely location, friendly staff and lots of history in a beautiful building and surroundings. Great food.
- Chrissy (10/5): Hotel with character - Location was great. The venue was beautiful. Bedroom was excellent. Some staff not as friendly as others..perhaps went to the wrong charm school.
- Michael (10/5): -
- Karen (8/5): Very enjoyable - Location, grounds, History, Staff. Nothing
- Laura (8/5): -
- Debbie (10/5): Relax and unwind - A lovely relaxing hotel. Lovely sitting on the terrace having a drink or coffee with a slice of cake , or food off the terrace menu, in the sunshine Younger waiting staff dont clear the outside tables. I ended up clearing the table we sat at, which I dont mind as this is my job where I live. But they were bringing out drinks and going back in with empty trays.
- David (8/5): Elegant outlook with cheap room fittings - The gardens and aesthetics of the hotel are excellent. I also loved the history and the Sqn Bar room with the memorabilia. For an elegant hotel, the bathroom suite had cheap fittings which are worse than an eastern European budget hotel.
The staff were a mix of wonderful and not so good
- Deborah (9/5): - Lovely staff, very helpful. The hotel has a very interesting history . Lovely grounds as well. The bed was slightly too firm for my taste, but probably fine for somebody else!

- ROSEMARY (9/5): A wonderful relaxing break . - The hotel has a Wonderful history and there is lots of grounds to explore ., or just to sit in peace and quiet with a coffee or maybe something stronger . Can not think of anything that we didn't like
- Russell (8/5): -
- Hazel (8/5): Excellent birthday celebration stay - Lovely dining room first class meal. Excellent service
Breakfast excellent - good choice of both continental and English breakfast
Lovely atmosphere particularly if your are interested in RAF in the war years - which we were.
Room very comfortable, particularly the bed. Bathroom, although clean and well provided would have been better with a walk in shower rather than shower over the bath.
- GUY (10/5): Great hotel and reasonable priced. - The history of the hotel is something that needs to be kept up as indeed it is. In my opinion this is a place that is both great to stay at and outstanding in looking around at the history of the building and the town. Nothing
