- Paul (10/5): As the saying goes….I’ll be back! - A perfect location to explore the local area Nothing!
- John (8/5): Excellent choice for our budget - Good breakfast and location. Beautiful grounds. Bed was very squeaky. Hot water was hot but you need to run taps a long time.
- Nicholas (9/5): -
- Fiona (6/5): - Good location. Easy parking. Room comfortable. Staff pleasant. Poor breakfast, cooked by receptionist? All very dated. I think we were the only guests.
- Tabitha (8/5): - Location & friendly staff
- harry (4/5): -
- Tracey (10/5): -
- Maureen (9/5): It was a lovely place to break up our journey. - The location is outstanding.
- Sarah Jane (8/5): Perfect for what we were looking for. - Staff were really friendly, kind and helpful
- Julie (6/5): It was clean, close to the River and all amenities.Justshame that it has got in such an old rundo - The garden but needed tlc. The view and the staff were welcoming. In need of lots of modernisation, windows were foggy, restaurant had lovely big windows but view was blocked outside with lots of artificial flowers hiding it. The tables were painted black with lots of chips all was slightly tacky, but with bags of potential, felt like staying in a nursing home, boxes and parcels stored in the entranceway.
- Connor (8/5): - Great location, comfortable, nice decor and the staff were a good laugh Shower was weak and dated
- Simon (8/5): - Very friendly staff and comfy room for my nights stay. Breakfast was also very tasty.
- Nicola (6/5): - Clean and friendly. Excellent location. Bit tired and dated. Poor shower as the water was only luke warm and no pressure
- Jo V. (7/5): -
- Steven (7/5): -
- Edith (6/5): My stay could have been so much better had they commicated the fact that there was no food. - Hotel is dated but the bed was good and general cleanliness was good also. On arriving I asked whether food was available in the evening and was told that even though they had a big event the following day food would be available at 5.30 pm. On arriving at 5.30 I was told no food was available! This meant I had to go to the nearest public house but they were fully booked so a long walk 1 mile plus, followed in order to get an evening meal.
- KEITH (7/5): - Location was lovely The restaurant was closed and they didn’t tell me till I arrived good staff
- Julian (8/5): - Friendly staff and free upgrade
- Len (5/5): While staff were friendly, the hotel lacked professionalism - Tired looking room and hotel, room number 1 was directly above noisy bar on final evening, cold shower on one day of three but was corrected when told
- David (4/5): Good value - Good location and single room stay was very good value. WiFi didn’t work for me .
- DAVID (10/5): Lovely location. Efficent friendly staff. -
- lisa (7/5): - Staff were fab , location fab got no complaints xx
- Kirsty (5/5): Basic cheap stay - We booked this hotel as a last minute stay over, it was not a bad price compared to others in the area and had free parking The hotel is very dated, including the room. It needs a lot of work inside to refresh it. The room had a lot of dirty edges, black mould etc and really needs a nice clean finish
- Valerie (8/5): A pleasant stay in a peaceful area -
- John (7/5): -
- Kelly (1/5): - The location Very unwelcoming. It felt like a dormitory as opposed to a hotel. The price is outrageous for the facilities provided. The cold water tap did not work. The hot water was literally boiling and unsafe!
- Llewelyn (8/5): -
- Andy (3/5): -
- Trevor (8/5): Avoid if there is a wedding on but otherwise a lovely place - Comfortable room and good wifi service There was a wedding on and this meant that the hotel did not open the restaurant or bar. Also, breakfast was open later than advertised, again due to aspects of the wedding.
- Timothy (9/5): Lovely quiet location - Location for a wedding we attended Only stopped one night so nothing to report
- Kim (5/5): - It was HOT! 40 + degrees in the room I reckon
- Smillie (6/5): Yat on The Usk - Location Old fousty smell in hotel and room.
£118 for one night and no breakfast is rather expensive
- Ian (6/5): -
- Olivier (7/5): -
- Hannah (7/5): Fantastic garden, friendly staff. Clean, comfortable, great value for money. - Fantastic garden, really peaceful and relaxing Bathroom door very noisy when sliding open and shut. The place is a little bit tired and could do with updating
- carla (1/5): Very disatisfied with the standard of cleanliness and very tired and outdated facilities. - We did not eat breakfast The room had obviously not been properly cleaned in a while as there was a build up of cobwebs in both the bedroom and bathroom. The bedside tables were covered in dust and obviously not thoroughly cleaned in quite a while. There were cobwebs in the corners of the bedroom.
We disliked it so much that we did not eat in the hotel or even have our shower, we got up and left first thing in the morning. The bedding was clean and that was all I could say. WE WILL NOT BE RETURNING and we are surprised that Booking.com have this on their listing of hotels to stay at. We were in Room No. 8
we did not like the fact that our room was extremely tired looking and skirting boards in bedroom needed tidying up and tiles in bathroom needed regrouting everywhere.
The whole Hotel from reception to the bar/dining area was very depressing. The only good thing about the stay was that the staff where friendly.
- Kenneth (6/5): Adequate for our purposes but tired by today’s standards - Location Generally rather tired. No lifts, steep stairs and not the best plumbing.
- Colin (8/5): -
- Romano (8/5): -
- Abbott (7/5): It was OK. Room could have smelled fresher. - Staff were very friendly and obliging. The garden was also nice. The evening meal we had was the Indian option and was excellent. The hotel is a little tired and old fashioned and the room smelled strongly of stale smoke. Breakfast in the conservatory very hot as no openable windows.
- simon (8/5): Base for Symonds Yat Walks - Stayed at the paddock hotel as a base to walk around the many trails symonds Yat has to offer, and the location did not disappoint. The location is perfect, a short walk to the river. The hotel is very clean, it has a bar and a restaurant (we didnt use) It has a beautiful garden which we had a couple of drinks in. Very impressed with this hotel and will stay again. This is only a very slight minus, it is a bit dated, but what do you expect, its an old hotel and is very well priced
- Lee (8/5): -
- David (9/5): -
- Rob (8/5): -
- Alison (8/5): Great location, gardens & staff.Relaxing & memorable stay - Great location, peaceful garden, polite & helpful staff
- Peter (6/5): Good apart from the heat in the room. - Location and staff It was an exceptionally hot day but only a top window opens and the room heated up like an oven.
- Vikki (9/5): -
- Ken (8/5): did the job nicely with no fuss - All very pleasant the choice of local beers was limited
- kevin (8/5): - Pleasant hotel nice lounge and outside seating.good view , lovely garden, good pub is 5 min walk to the river front.
Good breakfast. Freshly cooked.
Room is pleasantly clean decent bathroom. Beer selection was limited.
Menu was ok but again limited , part English part oriental.
Booking dot com, pics do not reflect the food choices or facilities.
Shower pressure is poor , had to complain, but that was best they could do.
- lisa (8/5): Very pretty part of the world. The hotel was lovely and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. - The grounds were exceptional. The room was lovely and the bed was comfortable. The shower was small considering the size of the bathroom.
- Petra (10/5): Very pieceful stay away from everyday life. - Such a beautiful property with a lovely garden. The location is so rural.
Saw three dears crossing the car park in the evening. Beautiful sight! Nothing, everything was perfect. The staff were friendly and accommodating to our breakfast requirements too :)
- Gwyn (9/5): Comfy and welcoming - As advertised - great staff Nothing - it was good
- Daniel (7/5): -
- Angelene (8/5): -
- Kim (7/5): The room was overpriced for what we had in my opinion. Hotel was very dated. - Hotel was dated: louvre doors on bathroom: shower fitting was loose: restaurant was closed.
- Sarah (9/5): - The staff were very friendly and the food was good
- Jayne (7/5): -
- Rees (7/5): - The spacious rooms and views over the gardens The room we stayed in was room 1..... situated over the bar area... Friday night was fine as hotel was empty, Saturday early evening and night loud... piano was being played ,echoed into our room. The Bar was open till 12pm. Then loud party on floors above which didn't go quiet till 2.45am
- Ian (8/5): -
- Larissa (7/5): - Beautiful location in nature and proximity to the river. Peaceful gardens, lovely background music all over the hotel. Beautiful views from bedroom window. Walls are paper thin, could hear our neighbour snoring. Bed is too soft, very uncomfortable. Better quality coffee at breakfast would be a win.
- Andrew (7/5): -
- Faye (1/5): We will not be returning - Great open space and view of the paddock and trees. Run down, very dated. This is like going back on a time warp to the 1980’s. Rubbish dumped by the garages below our window, dirty net curtains and even a little flea bouncing on its jolly way. There is no heating so those planning to stay in the winter, don’t bother. The conservatory looks like a furniture show room too. It’s smells like a charity shop too, choose wisely as the photos make it look lovely.
- Cullen (8/5): -
- Irma (10/5): -
- Royal (8/5): Great - The location is fantastic m. Very beautiful and very quiet. The breakfast was great The meal at the restaurant wasn’t great. I ordered the hunters chicken and it was rubbery and overcooked
- Julian (10/5): Weekend break with friends - Great location staff friendly & helpful & chatty which was lovely . Food eg. Breakfast & evening meal was really nice . Enjoyed our stay . Seeing people’s zillions of fag butts in the ashtrays outside seating area🤢
- Suzanne (8/5): Will definitely be back! - Everything Slight Smell of paint
- Catherine (9/5): - Great location and friendly helpful staff, food in the restaurant was lovely
- Catherine (7/5): - Peaceful setting The bathroom was rather cramped
- Robert (8/5): The quiet comfort and riverside walks at The Paddocks suited me perfectly - Had a nice meal in the evening (not breakfast). The young man who served me was very pleasant. My Room was clean and comfortable. Nice location by the River Wye. Can't think of anything
- mike (7/5): -
- Medwyn (8/5): Wonderful Wye - Its location in Symonds Yat and proximity to the River Wye and other pubs Nothing to complain about
- Phil (7/5): -
- Alyson (10/5): Comfortable and pleasurable - Lovely big comfortable bed and room nicely decorated
Plus staff went tge extra mile and left wine and chocolates as we were returning customers Nothing
- Matt (10/5): - Great food, even better staff
- Clive (10/5): - Comfortable and friendly Nothingl
- Keith (6/5): - Lovely staff, room very clean, very poor shower
- Natassia (9/5): Friendly staff and good facilities - Nice and peaceful vibe, friendly staff
- Vitor (10/5): -
- Jane (5/5): Probably a better experience when there are other guests there - It was quiet! Food wasn’t great. There didn’t seem to be any other guests on first night. If I’d known, I’d probably have eaten elsewhere.
Room was ok but not great. Tiny tv.
- Irma (10/5): Loved our stay - Location was perfect, patio was great, great things to do near by, customer service was helpful and friendly NA
- Rania (8/5): -
- Weaver (7/5): -
- Alyson (5/5): Very poor nights sleep due to room temperature and small bed - Friendly staff Very small room and bed was a very small double not a proper size double bed
- rhodri (9/5): -
- Judith (8/5): -
- Melanie (4/5): - Beautiful setting and well placed .
Staff friendly. Room not clean when we arrived. Toilet dirty!!!
Very dated, bed very hard, not comfortable at all.
Louvre doors on bathroom/ toil
- Ashton (8/5): - Good food at restaurant, Clean room, Great value, Good location, Friendly Staff. Walls are a bit thin and shower pressure a bit low.
- Neil (8/5): - Very pleasant stay location perfect
- Tiffany (10/5): Beautiful and peaceful hotel with amazing views right next to great activities in the Wye Valley. The staff and incredib - Beautiful and peaceful location with incredible, kind staff and lovely food. There was a small water problem as we left but the staff worked so quickly and kindly we didn’t notice!
- Zoë (7/5): Good location. A bit dated but we had a good stay and were well looked after - Good location in Symonds Yat West. Nice river walk from the hotel. Parking worked well. Nice pension meal which we had in our room. Staff very helpful, welcoming and friendly.
The bed was comfortable, and room and bathroom (bath) clean. We had hot water on tap for 24 hours.
The only critique is that the fittings and decor are dated in parts. We knew about this ahead of our stay. It actually worked in our favour as we had full control of our radiator (we chose to switch it off) and could open the two windows fully and get loads of fresh air - we had the perfect temperature and humidity.
- Magee (10/5): -
- Jackie (8/5): -
- Maskell (5/5): - Staff were polite, welcoming and helpful Our room was very dated and tired. Wallpaper was pealing from wall, bathroom needed replacing and bed covers were very worn
- Nick (9/5): -
- Madalina (3/5): Will never go back again. - The breakfast was not included, although we paid for the room £100.
The breakfast was £12 and it was cooked and continental.
So we went to eat and there was nothing for the continental section except for cereal.
The cooked breakfast was not great either, uncooked mushrooms, everything was oily and very small portion.
Def did not deserve £12 !!!!! My room had a huge gap between the door and the carpet. Like someone took a chunk of the door frame out.
The heating not working- they had to bring me electric heater
I found hair in the shower- not my hair.
The bedspread had cigarette burns on it
The bathroom door’s knob was broken.
The shower gel/shampoo was very very small, not enough for 1 shower even. Or to wash your hair once.
- Erika F (8/5): The Paddock Hotel is worth visiting again , preferably when it is busier. - The Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I liked the view toward the gardens and the landscape is simply wonderful. I liked the fact that the hotel owners is very alert and always concerned about the well being of her guests. She is very efficient , welcoming and approachable. This question is not easy to answer, as a change may include cost and has not directly to do with my stay.
However, the Arch sign 'The Paddock Hotel" at the top of the entrance rather gives the impression that I am entering an neglected factory facility. The first impression is not good as the pedestrian path on the left towards the entrance is completely run down and looks uninviting. Also somehow the kitchen bin area seems to be unhappily close to the room windows as aromas and smells come from there.
