Guest Reviews
- Ramos (1/5): Terrible place - Nothing at all. Owner was rude. Our AC almost burned our room down!! They gave us a fan. But if very hot in the room. Neither me or my roommate could sleep. No hot water to shower!!! Terrible Everything
- Nihal (1/5): -
- Verified traveler (2/5): - No parking!
- DAngelo (2/5): - Very small, i paid 275 for 2 nights and i feel like that shouldn’t have been more than 75-85$ a night. Lamp in bathroom has no cover, you can see the wires, not safe & i stayed there with my baby. Limited parking. Indian looking man in the front made my checking in horrible and complicated. Never staying here again.
- Carlos (10/5): - Good service
- Michael (8/5): -
- Marion (6/5): - The staff was very helpful.
- Saifou (3/5): Facility great owner and staff bad - Room and parking was great Owner rude No customer service and refused to be open for communication
- Garnet (3/5): Need for a roommates - Not much The host
- Verified traveler (2/5): Screwed out of $150 - There was an open attic in the room. They refused to give me a refund because I washed my hands when I came into the room, before noticing the attic.
I reserved their most expensive room at 6pm, arrived at 6:30pm, and left by 7pm. So they did not lose any business over me, and they had 4 other identical rooms vacant, and more cheaper rooms.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Motel near surgery center - Modern amenities. Pleasant decor. Some traffic noise. Friendly manager gave discount due to stay near surgery center (1 block). TV sound did not work and radio could not set time.
- Mary (8/5): Very good - Convenient to work location. Parking lot is a little small.
- Maira (8/5): The area was great, cute little room just for me. the room was very clean and well taken care of! The only down fall was - the room was very cute small and super clean! i loved that I had a mini fridge and microwave in the room. the only downfall was that the bed was not comfortable at all for me. the mattress was very hard.
- Max (4/5): Bring warm clothes - Maximum temperature in room was 61 degrees according to my phone battery.
- Michael (10/5): Nice easy stay - It’s cool mom and pop motel. Can’t beat it for the price
- Daniel (2/5): Stay Away! You can do much, much better. - Really Bad Place! My computer and phone were hacked within 1 hour of me leaving there. DO NOT STAY HERE! I wanted to leave leave the first day, owner said I had to stay 2 nights... ( I payed for 7 nights). Then as I packed my truck and waited for my refund receipt the police showed up. He lied and said I would not leave his property. The police could see I was upstanding citizen and there was no problem. Thank You Mountain View PD!..The wife is just as psycho. Stay Away! Room had a microwave, fridge, ac unit all original from the 70's. The counters clean but the floor was FILTHY! Really bad. I used there towels to mop the floor. Towels were super ruff and dirt stained. Shower curtain stained and dirty... No secondary door lock either and when I woke from the first night my door was unlocked! Do yourself a favor and read the other reviews too... I wish I did!
- samantha (8/5): a positive experience - Pleasant stay, kind of noisy due to the busy street but the staff was friendly. Located next to downtown Mountain View so food options are plentiful.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Good - staff friendly, room clean
Not so good- No hooks in the bathroom to hang up clothes.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Disappointed - The microwave was nasty inside. Furniture was dusty. Way too small for the price. Disappointed.
- Brandon (2/5): THIS PLACE SUCKS!!! - HORRIBLE.. BED.. SMELL OF THE PLACE.. CUSTOMER SERVICE.. HORRIBLE.. so bad that they wouldn't even call back Hotels.com when I complained.. THE WORST PLACE EVER!!! I'd sleep in my car before staying there again!!!
- Verified traveler (2/5): Spruced up Bates Motel - SMALL SMALL SMALL ROOMS. Shower head at my chest - shower stall only 4 inches wider then me. Could not give a detailed receipt. $350 for a $50 room. Best way to describe it is a spruced up Bates mote.
- Neggy (4/5): - When I arrived the owner was very rude to me, saying that he only had a room with two beds and would I please ensure that I only used one of them! then the next night, when I had to go and get my room key re-set, his wife tried to make out that I had only paid for one night when I had paid for three. Very expensive for low quality accommodation.
- covidbdayjuly2020 (2/5): DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!! THE WORST!!! - OMG!!! My husband is working in the area and he booked this hotel for 3 nights.. he paid$270 a night.. he has a horrible room with the worst bed ever, the water pipes bang and woke him up at 4am.. he asked to be moved to another room away from the pipes and the street they said they were full and could not move him. I called to make a reservation and the lady said sure no problem.. offered me $198 a night for the same period of time that my husband is there.???WTF?? I thought they were full.. I called back to talk with her again, 5 min later and a guy answered and said she was gone for the day. I explained the situation to him and he said he couldn't do anything. I asked him to move my husband to a room with a better bed. He said he couldn't. He started yelling at me saying that I booked with a travel agency and he couldn't move my husband to a better room.. he asked me who would clean up the room.. he hung up on me when I was asking for the corporate number. I called back and asked for the number he said he didn't know it. He said look on the website. I already did and no info..When I asked him for his name he said Bill.. He was of India descent with a total accent. I don't think his name was Bill. The fact is they all lied.. there is only a handful of people there. I'm disgusted with him and the employees there.. the place stunk like poo my husband said.. when my husband asked them about the smell the lady said they are Indian and they are cooking food. I told "Bill" that I would write reviews reflecting the poor customer service and the horrible accommodations. He said go ahead.. My husband could have rented a cardboard box from a homeless person and been more comfortable. So "Bill" here ya go.. the first of many.. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!! the word "BUDGET" MEANS YOU GET WHAT THEY GIVE YOU. AND THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS!!
- Pankaj (4/5): last choice hotel - basic hotel - only bed tv fridge microwave work - towels have holes and black spots and old, just 1 pillow, no breakfast, bath accessorie minimal. very costly compared to other hotels in the neighborhood.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Decent budget motel, noisy - Its a bare bones budget motel, so adjust your expectations. Its expensive given the area and the high demand for rooms.
Room was clean, bed could use an extra blanket (it was minimal and a bit cool). Bathroom soap was impossible to open from a rather tough plastic bag.
Rooms next to El Camino will have lots of noise from the traffic, which is constant, even at night.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The listing showed check-in ending at 11pm, I got a call at 9pm informing me that check-in was ending at 10pm told them this wasn't what the site was and wouldn't be able to make it. So they tell me that they are going to give my room to someone else. They did, even though I paid for it services were not delivered.
- Adam (8/5): - It's as nice as a place called "Budge Hotel" could be. It's very old, and the rooms are small, but it's clean and nothing's broken.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not worth the $$ - Tiny, tiny room. Great for in & out, but the WiFi didn't work. I had to piggy back onto the motel next door, it was dirty behind the bathroom door and the refrigerator did not work. Not worth the $180 we paid. The only virtues were that it was close to my job, it was quiet, the water pressure in the shower was great and no stairs..it was all one level.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Too expensive for quality.
Few parking spaces and too close.
- John (6/5): Small rooms low price (relatively speaking) - It is the most inexpensive motel in the area and you can usually get a room on late notice. Most of the rooms are tiny but pretty clean. The aroma in the lobby is a turn off and if the rooms had that smell I wouldn't stay but that seems to be confined to their little lobby. It looks funky from the street, a little like going back to the 1950's, which may be when this was built. The rooms closer to the back are better. If you book spring the extra few bucks and get a room with 2 beds as they are a good bit bigger. Their regular rooms are about 10x10 plus a small bathroom and vanity area. They do provide a small refrigerator microwave iron. they have Wifi and decent cable TV.
- Donna (4/5): - If this place simply invested 1000 bucks to improve each room, ratings would go up and they could charge more. The room smelled musty.... shampoo the carpets and get rid of the blanket and comforter which look like they are from the 70s. Ditto the microwave. The coffee maker in room 115 was dirty inside and nicely incrusted with visible dust on the outside. Young guy at checkin was nice.
- DParish (2/5): Horrible. Avoid at all costs. - The staff is incredibly rude and unpleasant. The hotel is awful and not at all as described. Run down and completely overpriced at over $200 a night. The room was clean but so small and truly not anyplace anyone would want to stay for more than five minutes. Upon seeing the room, we immediately checked out. Simply awful. The only upside was that we were issued a full refund. I would drive over an hour to avoid staying at this location and to avoid the staff.
- janetbB1355GM (6/5): Old property, but well maintained and clean. Way too expensive! - Must be the oldest motel in Northern Calif...or anywhere for that matter. Though old, it was well maintained and clean. But WAY too expensive! It was near the medical facility we needed to check into, so we accepted the rate.
- averyh740 (2/5): I wish I could give less stars.... terrible - If I could give this less stars, I would.
The owner is highly unpleasant and unprofessional. I cannot imagine a worse person to deal with. He's rude, snappy, and until I brought my boyfriend inside he refused to work with me. Rooms cost way too much for what you get. The parking lot is hard to get into. The price changed every time I called, going from too expensive to laughably overpriced. If you need a cheap place to stay, try the Motel 6. I will sleep in my car before I stay at Budget Motel again.
- 884juliek (8/5): Do Not Be Afraid of the Budget Motel. It's Great! - My Dad was life-flighted into Mountain View unexpectedly. I booked a room at another hotel for the only two nights available and when I had to check out, the Budget Motel ( a place I'd usually avoid based on the name alone) had the only room available. When I arrived, I was pleasantly surprised by a well-maintained retro-motel with flowers and little garages between the units. My room was clean and quiet and had a full-size bathtub, microwave and refrigerator. Bob and Bella were very helpful with extending my reservation due to uncertain release dates for my Dad. The Budget Motel was about a third the cost of the previous hotel and smelled and felt so much better. It is a charming little bit of the past in a modern world and aside form the hospital traumas, I enjoyed my stay.
- 180starrs (10/5): A 50's gem - Have stayed here 3 times, first when we found it, then my husband stayed for 2 weeks while I was having surgery at Stanford Hospital (which is a straight shot 10 minutes up the road), and again when we went up for a post-op visit to the clinic a couple of months later. It was clearly one of the original "motor courts" built in the 40's or 50's, and it quite small and basic, but everything is immaculate. Bob, the manager, and his wife are super nice and take obvious pride in keeping everything nice. They were so welcoming and gracious when we came back after I had my surgery! There are gorgeous roses outside of every room. The paint is all fresh, the sheets and beds were clean, as were the bathrooms. Our beds were on the very firm side, which is OK by me, but may not be for some. The only sink is outside of the (very tiny) bathroom (toilet plus tub/shower) and the coffee machine and mini frig are next to it. We did have a dryer, an iron and ironing board, a TV, phone, and wi-fi. There are no enclosed closets (no room), but there are shelves and hangers and a dresser. So, if you are looking for a standard big box motel with all the amenities, you won't find it here. However, if you want to go back in time a few years and stay on the slightly minimalist side, this is perfect. It was exactly what we needed and wanted, and the price was the lowest I found in the area as well. The rooms were very quiet at night. There are lots of restaraunts as well as fast food of all types nearby. It is also very close to Stanford University. I loved this place and would definitely recommend it! We already plan on staying again in a couple of months.
- ronalde921 (8/5): Great place to relax - Id like to thank the people from Budget motel for the making my stay great nice place nice location great food around the area. I would recomend it to anyone who is looking for a quite place to stay for a weekend eazy access to all the hot spots in the Mountian View Palo Alto area. Give them a try.
- 990larryb (10/5): GREAT PLACE TO STAY - The folks that manage this Motel are great. They go out of their way to make you feel at home. The place is always clean and very neatly keep. I have stayed here several times over the last few years because it has been keep up so well. It is an older Motel, but the rooms look new. I travel all over the United States for Business and you find so many places that are friendly enough, but here the folks running the place just make you feel at home. That means a lot to me as I hate being away form home on the road.
- Chuck263 (10/5): "Football Game Day at Foothill" highly recommended - The purpose of this review is to help newly costumers to make their decision before spending their business trip or holidays.
I have stayed more than 20 nights at this hotel. As it sign says the price value is very good compare to other surrounding hotels. Very discrete location, everything is nearby : Castro (mountain view downtown) is about 200 ft, Shoreline Amp. theater, Century Cinema, and other business places are in walking distances. The staff were very kind and helpful to their costumers. They valued their costumers.
1.Best price in pricey town
2. Great landscape
3. Convenient to all locations.
If you happen to visit this town highly recommend to stay at this hotel. Two or three times you stay they will recognize you and much more easier after words. Just call them, tell your name, they will recognize you and will make the reservation for you on weekdays (busiest days on El Camino)
- SydneyS43 (10/5): A sweet deal and a sweet place to stay! - Not only is it perfectly located on El Camino near a Peet's Coffee, the Budget Motel is a an immaculate, inexpensive, perfectly adequate place to stay while in the Bay Area. Bob is friendly, kind and accommodating, a sweet guy that truly cares for his sweet motel and his guests. It's a step back in time, 1940's style motel, Spanish style bungalows with the most beautiful roses and hydrangeas lining the outside of each little bungalow - cared for with love. I'm going to call this place a hidden gem, the best kept secret on El Camino, a diamond in the rough. You'll see!
- oleoiam (8/5): Budget with a touch of class... - A spontaneous trip to Mountain View CA left me looking for an inexpensive place to avoid a long drive home. I tried a chain motel but found it 'pricey' for the 8 - 10 hours of a visit. I stopped next door and saved nearly a third the cash and was pleasantly surprised by the beautifully kept courtyard and the immaculately kept room. More like a court of small cottages it was very clean, even while being older structures, with a beautiful collection of roses and other colorful flowers and plants in front of each room. Ice machine, drinks, nearby, centrally located, a pleasant and helpful staff, a comfortable room with microwave, fridge, and very clean. All in all a very highly recommendable place for travelers who watch their spending. With as much attention as they pay to the appearance, they pay more to the needs of their clients.
- AJD379 (10/5): Best thing sence sliced bread! Bob and Bella are the best hosts - I travel to Mountain View 2-3 days a week and "always" stay at Budget Motel. Bob and Bella are the kindest! I can always count on them to have a super clean and quite room! This is the best place and if you come and stay you'll get hooked as I did! They truly go the extra mile in making sure I enjoy my stay - glad I found Budget Motel! I give them a 10!
Thank you Bob and Bella!

- GlobeTrotting803417 (10/5): Best bang for your buck, clean rooms, quiet, safe, ample parking, great proximity to everything, very friendly staff - I have tried almost all of the hotels on El Camino since I spend three nights a week here in hotels. This is the place I stay exclusively now. Best rates in town, very friendly staff, clean rooms, ample space, fast and free Internet, ample parking, and other guests are also professionals so don't have any loitering, noise, or safety issues.
- SM771 (8/5): Clean comfortable room, good value - I stayed for one night and was pleasantly surprised. small clean room, well appointed. Very good value.
- AmreA_11 (8/5): Best bang for your buck - I got tired of slow Motel 6 internet (and paying everyday for it). Here, I get really fast internet, free. The units are separated by carports, and there is nobody above me, so it's really private and quiet. Cable TV is good. And I get covered parking. And the weekly price is better than Motel 6. I've been here for a couple of weeks, going on 3 weeks, while I look for a job. I would recommend it to others.
- Justin717 (10/5): Great Motel. Good price and convenient location. - I've been staying at the Budget Motel for a couple of weeks while looking for apartments in the Bay area and working in Silicon Valley. I highly recommend this motel to anyone visiting Silicon Valley, or passing through on their way to the bay area. It is reasonably-priced, and within very short walking distance to the shops/restaurants on Castro Street in Mountain View. The owners are very nice, and do a great job maintaining their establishment. The rooms are clean and well-stocked; besides TV with HBO, you are also provided with an iron/ironing board, a refrigerator and microwave, among other things. Come try it out!
- elenathor (2/5): ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!!! - The WORST hotel I've ever stayed in. The second day of the trip, they came and asked us for an extra 50 dollars out of the blue, and then threatened to call the cops to have us kicked out if we didn't pay it. SO weird. Don't stay here unless you want very strange and random hassle. The room is fair, but nothing special and the staff and management are obviously sketchy. I wouldn't want housekeeping in my room, that's for sure!!!!
- sundancexx (8/5): BEST VALUE FOR THE BUCK - I'm a commuter staying at the Budget Motel Monday - Thursday night every week for the past year. Clean, quiet, management friendly. Best value for the buck in the San Jose area.
- archimedesuk2016 (2/5): Overrated - Following the previously glorious reviews we decided to stay at the Budget motel in Mountain View. This motel has been vastly overrated and given the choice I would not stay there again. There are much better options available such as Comfort Inn or Super 8.
The rooms are small, however the place is clean. The towels are so thin you can see through them. The as advertised high speed internet never works properly and the service is awful.
- HPage (8/5): Best Kept Secret - What a wonderful surprise to find this gem tucked away within easy walking distance of downtown Mountain View's many coffee shops, bookstores and restaurants. The Budget Motel was not only affordable, but clean, quaint, quiet and comfortable. I highly recommend Budget Motel! I'll definitely stay here again.
