• Eliza (8/5): it was an unique and unforgettable experience with the amazing view and humble way of travelling - location, the scenery, the free shuttle bus, kitchen sound proof was not good, there were group of students and they were quite noisy and slept late, and we could hear what they were talking in our room. The washroom and shower room area were a bit cold, as that was a very windy and cold day

• Logan (9/5): Amazing view, showers and friendly staff - The view was spectacular! The showers were impeccable, with such good pressure and hot water for days! Perfect after a long day of exploring. The shuttle to and from Kennedy Town was a fun trip in itself. Fresh filtered water for free too Only thing would be some of the facilities in the common room were a little run down and the room was rather cold, granted, we were there on the coldest day of winter. The last shuttle run was at 1930 which limited our time having a drink. Although, this probably helped with not having any hangovers while we were there

• Michelle (3/5): Place with great potential but run down and far away from anything. - Beautiful views. Met some lovely visitors from mainland China and Hong Kong. There were no other international travellers staying. Seemed more for locals. This was much more isolated than I had anticipated. They had one shuttle a day in and out every day but if you wanted to do anything outside of these hours it was difficult. Taxi drivers don't really want to go up there, or they don't know where it is. I had a morning flight and ended up having to get other accommodation for my last night as I wasn't sure I would be able to get there on time. The place was pretty run down. Room was full of mice poop (although didn't see any mice). Beds were hard and matress covered in plastic so sheet kept sliding off during the night. Shared showers and toilets very basic, and not very clean. All this not end of the world, but the location was the real tricky thing, particularly since I had a kid with me and walking in the heat, uphill after a day's sight seeing was not on the cards. Also wild boar around and not sure you want to meet them in the dark on your way up! It could be clearer about these things on booking.com

• Anileated (8/5): Pretty good - It’s the same compound, more or less. Check-in was easy, I was lucky to catch the shuttle bus. The view from the shared terrace (see photos), as always, is nice. It was quiet at night, though in the evening there was a bit of noise from families in nearby rooms. The price may be a bit high but it was on par considering Lunar New Year. The pandemic has made the place different and weirder than before. I think they only rent whole rooms now, which means large groups and families and almost no single travelers. Note that shuttle bus only goes once per day now I think, though you can still catch a regular city bus at the bottom of the mountain path (15–20 min walk from the front gate) if you need to arrive or depart at a different time. Note that it may be tricky to check out early, I’d recommend to arrange and confirm with the staff in advance if you need to check out before 10am (the staff may be asleep when you want to leave and get back your member card and deposit). It was cold and the room lacked heating but there were warm blankets provided (as usual, you make your bed yourself). Cold is a rare problem in HK and occasionally happens in January.

• Cyrus (1/5): YHA Dump for Crap night! - Absolute dump with not even a drop of soap in the toilets. A scam which Booking.xom us a, part of. Booking. com confirmed my booking, charged me with no intimation of membership thing. Upon reaching there, they scrolled three pages down on booking.com confirmation and showed me the need for membership which cost me 150 more.. Shame on booking..com and yha hostel.. Booking. Com should have mentioned clearly on the first page that this facility will charge more for membership. Better buy a tent and go camping somewhere decent. Every single thing.. The very existence of that dump!

• eats (8/5): - 6人ドミは、バストイレまでが遠い。トイレが近い人には向かない。ランドリーサービスが無い。ランドリーマシーンも無い。手洗いしようにもバケツも無い。ランドリーサービスは…ご存知の通りこの立地なので山を降りなければならない。ベッドアイテムの掛け布団か枕の匂いが臭かった。

• Kath (4/5): Not For the Weary - We paid hotel price as well as additional YHA annual membership never to be used again for 2 double rooms and expected more than what we received. No early check-in even if the room was ready because the rule is check-in is 3pm. We were very jetlagged not sleeping for over 32 hours. Got to sleep at 8pm but woken at 9pm by numerous people talking very loud outside our room. Just before Reception closed at midnight we asked them how best to deal with it if it continued after they closed. They reminded the group to be quiet. The rule was noise was expected to stop from midnight but it continued until 12.30 then someone decided they'd come out and call their family in Europe for the next hour. We asked them to please go away from our room which they did. Then at 3am another 2 people thought outside our room was a good place to talk. Again we asked them to go way from our room. Any accommodation you pay for you expect at least to get a restful sleep. We got 3 hours sleep total in 43 hours and were wrecked for the rest of our trip.

• Phebe (10/5): - I was studying abroad with my University in Beijing and lol as a broke American college student i really wanted to take the leap & go to Hong Kong solo THIS PLACE WAS AMAZING! If your a college student like me on a budget it was amazing the price was a steal with the expedia bundle deal! The views was stunning my roommates were awesome the only issue was obviously if you miss the bus, your screwed because its situated on top of a hill. I really recommend if your a college student on a tight budget.

First thing next morning arrived to check in only to find the room occupied, thou we had pre paid from the night before.. Having asked if we could see the room … unable as people were asleep in there? When asked to see the shared bathroom facilities? gents was in the same block however, women's bathroom was downstairs … across a courtyard … and then upstairs in another building …. nothing undercover from the elements?? On arrival was directed to Reception which was draped in laundry and fans blowing? The site and views of Hong Kong harbour were amazing however it was confirmed they could not request a taxi and only means of transport was the shuttle bus …. very limited first in?? Have stayed in YH …. expecting budget (it was the location we were after) however, after looking in the room next door (people still asleep in our room).. the lack of basic clean and acceptable hospitality facilities was zero …. just so disappointing …. and more than anything why this type of accommodation and facilities are being offered? in such a vibrant city as Hong Kong, you would think made to persist with international acceptable standards. Needless to say, we didn't stay and forfeited our money finding alternative accommodation. I wonder if anyone from the Hong Kong Jockey Club YH has stayed there?? That would be interesting!!

• Verified traveler (6/5): A busy weekend stay - The experience was overall so-so. There was a huge group of people (40+) from a program staying in the hostel during the same period as we did. Thus, for a small group of 2 people like us, did not really get an equal chance of sharing the services/ resources. The seats on the free shuttle bus, kitchen, toilets, outdoor spaces were mostly occupied. The group behaved generally okay; yet, some of them socialized just outside of our room and caused a slight disturbance to us. I suggest the relocation/ removal of tables and chairs on the ground floor that are immediately outside of the rooms, and the hostel should consider reserving some seats or space for individuals (vs groups).

Regardless the fine print did say phones till 12 am. I called for an hour from 11 to 12 no answer. Spent $80 taxib round trip to get there to have no one let me in. Went back to airport to sleep for 2 hours. Thank God Expedia refunded my money. Thank you Expedia. Thanks for nothing jockey club hostel
• Matthew (8/5): Unique and Characterful - Quite an eccentric place! The facilities were rather primitive but everything functioned ok. I met some other interesting travellers. The views are outstanding and the kitchen was kept very clean. Laundry was hassle free. This hostel really has its own character and was a good way to experience Hong Kong Island for a few nights.

• Alex (8/5): 홍콩섬 서쪽에서 최고의 전망을 느낄 수 있습니다 - 저는 케네디타운역에서 운행하는 셔틀 버스가 있는지 모르고 걸어서 올라갔습니다. 정확히 한시간이 소요되었는데 그냥 셔틀 버스 이용하시는 것 추천해드립니다! 힘들게 올라가서 탁 트인 전망을 보니 힘든 것도 모두 사라져버리더라구요. 숙소의 각종 시설도 깨끗하고 편리했습니다. 즐거운 여행이었어요^-^
• Toni (8/5): 環境優美 - 周圍環境一流，但房間隔音一般，窗簾亦會透光，不過房間算是乾淨！
• JM (8/5): Surprising ! - Let's put it this way. The location is fabulous, and so is the view and the whole Youth Hotel idea, but if looking for a quiet place to relax, just be aware that an Outdoor Association involving nice, actives kids, kinda own the place, and so "peace" shall not be expected at all time. This is really the only burden, because everything else is tip-top, there is even a shuttle yet to be found at the Kennedy Town subway exit, doing back and forth all day to the hostel, can't wait to travel again to Hong Kong just to stay there, even if a little pricy (for what it is) for an individual room.

• Beatrice (10/5): Clean and nice youth hostel - I stayed there with my family, and they all loved it so much, the nieces enjoyed the stay and wanna come back again. It's a rainy night so we couldn't enjoy BBQ but we had a great time of cooking in the kitchen. Scenery was superb...
