I requested a ground floor suite with two bedrooms and lounge and it was changed to one bedroom and a sofa bed. Up several flights stairs. With a heart condition????

• Luciano (10/5): Can't recommend highly enough! - My wife and I chose to have a little couple away time and The Litton was the perfect place to do it. Not only is it one of the most stylish and beautifully done out country pubs I've ever had the pleasure to visit, not only was the food superb (both dinner and breakfast), not only was the decor spot on, not only was our room meticulously clean with such a well stocked minibar and every room amenity you could ever need but on top of all that the service was second to none. Every staff member was friendly, knowledgeable and they all went the extra mile with a smile to make sure everything was just right. I wish we'd caught more names because everyone was genuinely great but special mention to Olly who couldn't do enough for us. Highly recommended people!

• Peter (6/5): Holiday - I would have given the hotel a very good rating, but the room was so hot it was very uncomfortable to be in and unable to sleep. The sun is on the room all day. Also, when the windows were open, it was noisy due to the compressor running on a portable freezer unit parked in the courtyard. The service and the food was good.

• Karena (10/5): - The Litton seemed to befuddle our GPS system but we eventually found it, and were very happy we did. It is nestled on a hill I think in so far as you have to walk down quite a few stairs to enter the bar and registration area, which consists of a laptop sitting on the end of the bar. Very friendly and very pleasant was the gentleman who happily assured us that our three rooms had been successfully registered and he escorted us through the web of stairs and alleys to each of our rooms…and they were lovely. Spotless and comfortable and adequately spacious. He reserved us space for dinner in their dining room and bar, and our stay was absolutely lovely. Highly recommend.

It would have been nice to have some pastries or bread available on the table. My table wasn’t ready on arrival for dinner, which leant a problem. However I think then got forgotten about. I waiting another 30 mins to be seating. Food as good, but they had run out of burger buns and the service could have been quicker

Shower pressure was very good and room was generally dark once the lights were off (no excessive external light nor too many internal safety or night lights). Location was great for Wells, Glastonbury and Cheddar. Staff were welcoming and good spirited. Food was great and no complaints but did expect it too be exceptional from other reviews.

• Deborah (10/5): A great 2 night stay in a beautiful location. - We booked this hotel as we were attending a wedding in Clifton but also visiting my family located in Street, so this was a great halfway option. Most importantly for us was the need to have an accessible room for my elderly mother and me as well as an adjoining room for my partner as he needed to be close by in case mum fell. The original rooms I had booked were not actually suitable as the hotel rooms are located on different levels. However the hotel contacted me straight away to advise that we moved to different rooms located on the ground floor with disabled access to both the room and the restaurant/bar facilities. This room also had an additional benefit of a sofa bed for me so I didn't have to share the bed with my mum (although it was huge!) and an adjoining room which was perfect for us. The room itself was a great size and the bathroom completely accessible as described. It had everything we needed in it for the 2 night stay. We also used the restaurant and bar and it was excellent. The hotel is lovely in a very beautiful location, the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly at all times and we could not fault anything. Nothing.

I had booked a twin room but on arrival was told that that was not an option so they had made up a sofa bed in a larger double room and the cost would be more. I would rather have received a message beforehand.

We believe we both had food poising after our meal on Tuesday evening so decided to leave after only one night. The cooked part of breakfast also wasn’t great. Eggs Benedict the poached eggs were not runny. Veggie breakfast had a hair cooked into the egg. Swearing around the bar area at breakfast we think from a member of staff who was sat on her laptop.

• Steven (9/5): Excellent again. look forward to returning. - Perfect, not overwhelmed in choices (a good thing) but each course and option was of good quality. I had a relatively early start but staff were very accommodating and really looked after me. Noticeable in the evening that the staff all appeared to get on and work well with each other. They were all very efficient, understood their roles but mucked in for each other and this all makes for a very good atmosphere for guests. For my brief stay I couldn't fault them on anything.
