Guest Reviews
- ROGELIO (10/5): - Vista a la playa
- Cathy (10/5): - The manager was super helpful and friendly, she is a gem
- Bart (10/5): - Sargassum, piles on all the beaches in San Pedro, NOT the hotels fault. The local government is failing. The staff is fantastic, rooms are nice & clean, very quiet. Rooms 1 & 7 are great with awesome ocean views. A great place to stay. With that being said, San Pedro is not a good destination. The streets are dangerous, do to drunk's & reckless Gulf cart driving. So poisonous gas from sargassum on the beach, the streets all you smell is exhaust from the plethora/over crowding of gulf carts. Food & everything else is more expensive than the States. Third world condition, first world prices.
- Sandra (10/5): - Perfect location. Beach front. Amazing staff. Felt like a home away from home. Will come back soon!
- DAVID (10/5): - Staff are great, clean room, a bit dated, good value walkable to shops and many eating establishments from economy to fine dining.
- Beat (10/5): - Booked that hotel for 1 night and was surprised how nice it actually looks inside of the building, super friendly, helpful staff. I got the last room available and hit the jackpot - a suite with Ocean view.
- Stephen (10/5): - The hotel is about a block away from the main boat deck where the ferry arrives and it has a good restaurant and bar attached and a really good restaurant next-door for breakfast. Our room was on the beach with a little balcony overlooking the ocean. It's a basic hotel, a little older, but you can't beat the location.
- Mitchell (10/5): - Was a great property right on the waterfront. Staff was more than accommodating when we arrived a little after check in time closed, which was greatly appreciated. For the price and the accompanying balcony view I’d love to stay here again.
- Susan (10/5): - The staff here went out of their way to correct a couple of issues. They did an excellent job with kindness and professionalism. Very, very pleased.
- Adam (10/5): - Price was great and Hostess was awesome
- James (10/5): A great week in San Pedro - The staff was awesome. The price was right.
- Michael (2/5): - This was the most expensive property we stayed at in our ten days in Belize and it was by far the most disgusting and broken down. This should be a $50 usd hotel at best, and certainly not $200 usd, very disappointing.
- V1761OVcarolynm (10/5): Central Beachfront Hotel - The Spindrift Hotel is centrally located, close to everything you need. Yammi and the staff are very accommodating and were very helpful when other accommodation fell through. The bar and restaurant are very close to reopening and the rates reflected that those services weren’t available during our stay. It was great security that the beach side entrance is locked at night. Restaurants, the beach and tour operators are steps away. If you want a clean, basic, central hotel then this is the place. Our room had ac, a room safe, tv, comfortable beds, linens and a blanket. Beach towels are available on request
- ToucanIggysBelize (10/5): Great hotel in the middle of a magical island - We just had the most marvelous stay at this charming hotel. It’s right in the center of town and right on the beach. We had a beachfront suite that was so big we could have lived there with a large double balcony. The king sized bed was a dream. It was such a pleasure to be able to stroll to many of the major attractions, as much as I enjoy bumping around the island in a golf cart. The staff was friendly and helpful, the bathroom was slightly dated but huge with great water pressure. With a brand new restaurant opening, this hotel is soon going to be even more of a hot spot. It’s right next to the water taxi and there’s a golf cart rental place on the premises so you can stroll over from your ferry and then rent a cart as needed. There are certainly fancier resorts, but they’re much more expensive or farther out from town. If you want to be in the center of it all and truly enjoy the essence of this community, you can’t do better than the Spindrift.
- arazz (10/5): Splendid rustic paradise - Step back in time to a quaint village bustling with puttering sputtering golf carts and you will find serenity at the Spindrift hotel. The ocean may be 30 feet away from your oversized balcony which will mesmerize you. You will forget about about your fully furnished kitchen, gigantic king sized bed, and huge private bathroom with arctic air-conditioning. The hibiscus trees and hummingbirds in the courtyard will welcome you with a glorious 24 hour breeze. I almost stole the towels, but my gracious host would not have appreciated it. I did steal the soap though.
A true lovers destination. When in San Pedro...The Spindrift Hotel
When in the Spindrift Hotel remember, the balcony. You won't regret it. Perfection.
- Brian (4/5): - No bar, no restaurant. Under construction. Saltwater in the shower so bad you could taste it, no blankets on bed just a sheet. There is however a dive shop, bars with good food steps from the hotel on the beach. Can be difficult to find parking for your golf cart.
- CayeCayo (10/5): A gem by the sea in the heart of San Pedro - I travelled down to San Pedro from San Ignacio in Cayo, Belize for a day trip on August 9th. Its not long. You catch the early morning bus at about 4:15am, reach Belize City by about 7 am and then make your way by either taxi or foot the mile or so to the San Pedro Belize Express Water Taxi that leaves on its first trip at 8am to the Cayes. The first hour of the beautiful ride you stop at Caye Caulker, then in the next half hour you arrive in San Pedro. The J&H Golf Cart Rental is located very conveniently by a short walk along the beach to the left from where you arrive, go past Estel's Restaurant by the Sea and go up the lane to the corner of the Spindrift Hotel. Jamal or his brother Chris will link you up quickly with an excellent ride and have you on your way exploring.
Most of the things I needed to get done were completed in a few hours but the day was great and one more day would be relaxing. After returning the cart I walked next door and to the front desk of the Spindrift Hotel. A beautiful building, right in town and on the beach. As you enter the lobby it becomes more bright with the light and plants of the central atrium open to the clear blue sky. Checkin with Ms Yami is very friendly and welcoming and you are with key in hand walking up the lovely atrium with the sky above and unobstructed view to the sea ahead and to your room in a few minutes. Many of the rooms with ocean view and balcony as an option and a very comfortable large bed. The Spindrift Hotel is central and within walking distance of the water taxi and some of the finest dining and shopping in San Pedro and just steps to the sea. The sound of the waves on the shore, the wind and the sea breeze comforting during your sleep and a restful night. If you wish to sleep in make sure you pull your blinds as the sky will get light near 4:30am and the sunrise behind the spray off the reef, the spindrift, lit up like sparkling diamonds with the suns first rays, about an hour later. Truly a beautiful place and one to return to and feel that warm welcome.
- vincentlB2042EU (10/5): Very nice hotel - A very nice place, near the dock for the water taxi and very convenient! The manager is very helpfull and always there if you need something. We travel since two month over the central america and it's one of the best hotel we got.
- Robert (6/5): - The staff were great, however the property is a little rundown.
- Egbert (4/5): - Bathroom smelly, no shower products.
- 130odalysg (10/5): Amazing place and friendly staff! - I had heard soo many good things about spindrift! I definitely had to check the room out..
Arrived at about 11 a.m or so..
Went to the front desk..
Lady was super nice and friendly.. I asked to check the rooms out, without any hesitation one of the staff member did so.. And thus so far for an economy room the price was really great! Room was nice had a flat screen t.v, small refrigerator and has a beautiful, amazing beach front view at room #17! Definitely, I highly recommend this place for you to stay...
- giovannio85 (8/5): Great Service - Very friendly people, has a restaurant, hotel right by the beach and near the water taxi. The room was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay and recommend the hotel.thanks spindrift for the great experience.
- 878sammyg (6/5): convenient decent value - clean hotel one of the closest.next to the water taxi and the central square. One bedroom with ocean view no ac but with the fans and the windows open it was fine. staff were pleasant. Didnt try the restaurant.
- Seniortraveler65 (6/5): Great location. - Very close to the water taxi. The pros - helpful staff. The ground floor has a restaurant, caliente and a bar not owned by the hotel. The bar had cheap drinks except for Thursday night when they had the chicken drop. The second floor had a deck with some lounge chairs. Cons - I booked through booking.com and got a good price at what I thought was a decent hotel. However, the room I was given was barely a 2 star room. No TV, no a/c, very weak WiFi, poorly done plumbing fixes, Although the hotel is on the beach, there is really no swimming. There is sea grass and too many boats.
- mflocken (8/5): Good Prices, Good Location - I like the location of this hotel. It has a balcony that overlooks the beach front. Some rooms have AC, others don't, so be sure and arrange that beforehand. The location is centrally located so that you can walk to eat, shop, or do tours.
- WelshmanTTG (6/5): Great location for dive shops - This is a no frills hotel that does exactly what it says on the tin. Rooms had AC, hot/cold running water and a TV. No complaints. If you are looking for a chap place to lay your hat next to the dive shops, this is it
- Q1649JDstephend (6/5): A decent place to rest your head. - I was in Belize working and had an opportunity to have a few days off, we heard that SAN Pedro was the place to go if you wanted to do some decent diving, however, we needed somewhere to sleep. After a quick search on Booking.com we found the Spindrift hotel. It was close to the dive centres and fitted our needs (bed and AC) as we were out diving most of the day. It is advertised as a 3* but don’t expect it to dazzle you. For us it was a cheap place to sleep after long days. If that is what you are looking for, it’s perfect.
- SOFIA (8/5): - Buena experiencia. Bien ubicado. Según mi esposo Ricardo M. Alba, la Gerente, señorita Yamileth Silva, es muy bella. Quedó prendado de ella.
- Glenicet61 (10/5): Great vacation and stay at Spindrift Hotel, San Pedro - The Spindrift hotel is the perfect place to stay in San Pedro. The front desk staff is friendly and courteous. The rooms are clean and serviced daily by staff providing excellent customer service. Shopping, restaurants, golf cart rental and taxis are easily accessible outside the hotel's entrance. The balcony at Spindrift provides a beautiful and breathtaking view of the beach, the piers and people walking by. The caliente restaurant located in back of the hotel is a great spot for a nice dinner on the beach and the Chicken Drop is an exciting night for everyone to experience at Spindrift hotel.
- Spindrift (4/5): great location - Great location to all events. Oceanside and great restaurant. Adequate room size with very good wifi... Bed was very thin with springs that would sometimes poke thru. TV very small tube with poor cable signal. Advertised with AC but no AC. Weak shower with little hot water
- EZTREK360 (6/5): Right at Down Town San Pedro - Belize is too expensive overall and San Pedro is even worst. This hotel has normal prices compared with the other locations. If you are looking for luxury go somewhere else.
The hotel staff is nice and made my stay pleasant.
This islands are for certified divers only. This is not a party location. Stay at Kaye Caulker for cheaper tours to the open sea. Belize will milked you with high prices and government fees.
But the coral reefs worth your wallet suffering.
Be safe.
Guillermo
- cliff (4/5): no air conditioning - If you just want a place to spend the night after your days activities this may do. But be aware that the room has no a.c. just fans. They don't help much. From late afternoon till late evening the room is very sticky. We would open the glass door at night to let the ocean breeze cool it off , but then bugs came in to room.It could use a screen. We had to sit outside till about midnight before the room cooled off enough that we could sleep. Also know there is no ice machine. You have to ask for it at the desk and when you wanted some at night you were out of luck. And ice was something that was really needed. On the plus side the room rates are low.It is an example of you get what you pay for.Im surprised Expedia would list a place in the tropics that didn't have such a necessity.
- 474allant (10/5): Great place to stay - Love the Spindrift! Rooms were nice. Very friendly and helpful staff! Close to everything, including the airport and water taxi! No need for a golf cart if you don't want one. Has a very nice relaxing patio to hang out and enjoy the view. Also is a great view to watch the chicken drop. Will stay here again when we return!
- 161katherinec (4/5): You get what you pay for - My friends and I stayed there and it wasn't the greatest experience. The walls are paper thin and we could hear the music as if it was playing right in our room. It wasn't super clean. We were glad we only had to stay there for one night.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - economy room review- room had double queens, fans, and a small balcony. beds were comfortable enough. basic toiletries were provided. two drinking/dining options downstairs. could be an issue if you were trying to sleep early later in the week as music is played loudly. overall, inexpensive place to stay near the central park, ferries and drinking/eating. staff was friendly and helpful.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Recommended for price and location--but... - Location is great. Staff nice. But, the live & loud music coming from the patio of Caliente (below room) was beyond annoying.
- V2379ILkarent (10/5): Destination Wedding. - My son got married here in the middle of San Pedro. The Spindrift hosted our wedding party. We were able to gather on the deck each evening. We were close to all the local restaurants and tours. The Chicken drop was a great party atmosphere for our after wedding party. Love the Spindrift love the staff so accomodating! Highly recommended!
- heffay33 (10/5): best place for price! - This place which is right on the beach is one of the best values on the island. The get a great view for a cheap price. There is a bar downstairs and a restaurant too! This hotel is also right in the middle of barrier reef drive, so everything is easy to get to.
He encontrado mejores lugares al mismo precio
- roadrelics (6/5): Any room is great ???LOL - any room is great???LOL.......i guess if you don't mind filth, rot, mold and just plain falling apart choose room #6..have not tried any other rooms ....but the one overlooking front street is horrendous. and thats the reason its a good rate....you pay for what you get.....we tried to spend very little time in the room as we LOVe San Pedro and if you want a nice place to sleep, your going to pay almost double for what the Spindrift charges....
