Guest Reviews
- Alexandra (10/5): - My partener loved the room. It was great. Close the the pub as well and quite area. But the room was the best!
- Clive (8/5): - Room, Staff, Parking all ok. Did not use the bar.
The external steps to the first floor accommodation were steep with some lose tiles.
Have stayed before and will again. Thank you.
- Sarah (8/5): - Booking in was good Kim was a great help. Parking easy. Rooms were good, clean and tidy.
- Alan (8/5): - Nice staff,
- michelle (8/5): - Very friendly and helpful staff
comfy bed
Not so good points- dark room, tired peeling paint in bathroom, loose door handle (fixed after complaining)
Noisy road traffic - earplugs advised
- Yvonne (8/5): - Room was clean and bed was large and very comfy. Also had a bath! Would describe it as a motel rather than a hotel as rooms are accessed from outside the Inn
- Donald (8/5): - A very good venue with plenty of great features. Comfortable and ideally situated for travellers.
- Andrew (8/5): Pleasently surprised. - Despite the outer exterior looking a little old and dated, we were greeted to a great room. Spacious and very clean. Check in was very efficient and the staff was welcoming. The room itself was a welcoming space, although the bed was a little too firm for my personal liking. The bathroom was clean, although the water pressure was a little low causing a slow running shower.
Breakfast was booked with he stay, and the staff were very welcoming as we entered to restaurant. The buffet breakfast offered a good selection and there was a cooked food option too. The only downside was the coffee, was an instant coffee option, rather than a machine.
Overall, a good experience and would stay again.
- Beckie (2/5): - We cancelled as the room was dirty with damaged douvet!
- Christine (8/5): - Comfortable, clean, good mattress
- Elizabeth (8/5): - Staff were very friendly and helpful and room was spacious and very clean, the only downside was no air conditioning, just a fan (we were staying during a heatwave).
- Ann (10/5): - Liked the room being near to restaurant. Bed large and comfy, shower great.
It was a great location for Richard III exhibition and Bosworth Field.
- Carlis (10/5): - Exactly as website reviews state. Very clean rooms, friendly and helpful staff, good parking and reasonable priced. We would definitely stay again, as well as I would highly recommend this place. Plus we had a really good night’s sleep as the bed was really comfortable.
- Arron (6/5): - Placed near a very busy road junction with the room having poor sound reduction the night was as little noisy for me.
- Emily (8/5): Stay at the long shoot - Good stay at longshoot Nuneaton, tidy rooms, the outside didn’t quite look as appealing but the rooms very clean, spacious, tidy and smart. Nothing to complain about.
- Steven (10/5): - Food and bedroom
- Alan (8/5): - Reminded me of an american style motel. That said it was clean, well-presented and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
- Paul (8/5): Acceptable - The room is dated but the bed and pillows were comfortable. It needs better lighting in the room as it is very dull and un inviting plus the desk lamp was not working. With the design of all rooms you do feel like you are staying at a Butlins site. The evening meal in the pub was very good but the breakfast was acceptable but needed to be hotter I stayed one night which is fine but wouldn’t want to stay longer
- Rickie (10/5): - Good staff and quiet
- John (10/5): - Nice hotel, nice staff. Room nice & clean, slept well!
- Wendy (10/5): - Room clean. Bed very comfortable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice place - The staff where reasonable and friendly. The room was much nicer than we expected. Plenty of parking.Would stay again.
- Theo (8/5): - Clean, quite basic - more like a Motel than a Hotel. Otherwise totally acceptable, nothing to complain about.
- Elvis (10/5): - Nice place to be
- Elvis (8/5): - I really did enjoyed enjoyed everything
- p (8/5): - Great value, good location, dinner was very good
- Mark (6/5): Basic accommodation. - Basic, clean, a bed for the night. Oth Bf more to make it stand out.
- Bryan (10/5): - Friendly staff very quiet room great stay
- Hazel (6/5): - Very basic. Bed was comfy enough.
- Adam (8/5): Water pressure - Great allround. Quality rooms.
Only problem water pressure for showers, a dribble. Shame really.
- Diane (6/5): Clean and comfortable - Large room and comfortable
- Lisa (8/5): Short stay - Stayed for one night for a family party. Room was small but comfortable and nicely decorated, a bit pricey, as no breakfast was included. Ample free parking.
- Andrew (10/5): - Excellent rooms, great pub on site, staff great and price good! Highly recommend this place.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great find - Comfy bed, clean room and convenient location. Whilst not a modern hotel it has everything you need and good value for money.
- Carol (10/5): - Very nice place ,first time staying ,is by a busy road but didn’t notice the sounds at night ,room cosy and warm on arrival. shower and bath was in good order nice hot water .will be back again in new year.
- Olly (8/5): - The bed was incredibly comfy however although the heating was on all night the room was still freezing.
- Jennifer (8/5): - Really friendly welcome with Liz on reception, super helpful and accommodating.
Rooms very clean, bed really comfy, great size and good size bathroom.
Only negatives I think are, although there is a light near the door and bedside lamps, there isn't a 'main' light so the room was a bit dim in the morning and the coffee at breakfast wasn't very hot but these are very minor ... I really liked the fact that your cooked breakfast order was taken at your table and cooked to order. Maybe this is self serve when busier as there is an area for this.
We had lunch in the afternoon, this was lush. I had 3 for £12 small plates, the spicy chicken goujons, plant based chilli and corn ribs. Absolutely gorgeous, and the spicy dip was so nice. My husband and Mum had the burger which they enjoyed. Service was quick and friendly.
All in all we had a great stay, and would definitely stay again.
- John (10/5): - Quite a good experience overall.. would definitely recommend..
- Roger (8/5): - Everything was satisfactory no complaints
- David (8/5): - Very convenient on the main A5. Good parking close to your room. Good food breakfast and evening.
- Edward (10/5): - Excellent carvery in restaurant. No negatives. (this review is by Richard)
- charles (10/5): Happy Stay - Overall my stay was a positive experience
My only observation, that the room could do with more lighting
- Donna (10/5): Well worth it - Great room, very very comfortable bed which was huge! The refurb has been done really nicely. I absolutely love the toiletries that are included. It’s so nice to see eco friendly vegan toiletries and they are really nice to use too. My hair can be fussy but this stuff was fab and left my hair really soft.
Be great if there were vegan milks as well but I know that’s not something that ever gets done anywhere other than all vegan places.
My very teeny tiny gripe was that the loo seat could do with tightening up but that’s the only fault I could find and is me being very very nit picky.
I used the pub several times and that was amazing. Great staff, great service, great food.
Most definitely a place I’d stay again without hesitation.
- Steve (10/5): Nice place to stay! - Comfortable and good value for money.
- Michael (8/5): - Nice helpful staff at check-in and within the restaurant, good location for a reasonably priced short overnight business stay.
- Douglas (10/5): Xmas 2022 - Fantastic room very clean modern and comfortable
Everything you may have needed included hairdryer iron ironing board tea coffee making facilities and tv and Wi-Fi
- Keith (8/5): Nice, but bad sound insulation - A pleasant suprise.
Reasonably priced accomondation that has recently been updated and is next to a nice pub with friendly staff.
The only downside is the external noise that is easily heard, otherwise fine.
- Dimeji (10/5): - Great place, worth every penny!
- Kevin (8/5): - It was very comfortable the rooms have had a refit since the last visit
- Jan (8/5): comfortable+ clean - Convenient, easy to book comfortable + clean. Despite being at busy road junction was mostly quiet. Have stayed before and would stay again. Good value.
- Tracey (8/5): - Very comfortable beds, modern decor and a powerful shower. Downside was lack of air conditioning and as near to a busy road it was too noisy to leave the window open.
- julie (6/5): not good - The breakfast service and overall experience was not good check in staff lovely meal in evening was ok at best becca the waitress was very good
- Susan (10/5): One day visit - Only stayed one night but very good value for money with helpful and friendly staff. Lovely selection of food for breakfast.
Thank you
- David (2/5): Never again - We booked this at pretty short notice, didn’t look too closely at the room, (lesson leant) the price dragged me in! Booked in ok when we arrived, also lady behind the desk booked us a table in the adjoining pub.
The hotel ( I use that title loosely) is in a dire state, it really needs either, 1. A ton of money thrown at it for a total refurbishment. Or 2. Demolition. Looks like it should be in a horror movie, very old decor, probably there since it was built. All wooden surfaces flaking whatever paint or varnish is left, wallpaper hanging off, also the pub is in the same state, and the food not very good, ( ingredients and quality, not the cooking of) the staff very good, but I feel sorry for them having to work in those surroundings.
- kuldip (10/5): - Super
- Linda (4/5): - Staff very attentive and polite
- Anne (10/5): Anne - Comfy bed
Quite clean
Paint on ceilings peeling off
- peter (8/5): good - It's a budget hotel, no frills. It was clean tea and coffee available. Food very good and real real
- Jan (6/5): Comfortable but a few maintenance problems - Very clean spacious and comfortable motel type room. A few minor problems eg toilet flush handle not working - had to remove cistern lid each time. Mentioned it on initial review but office not open when went to report it despite them saying theres always someone there. Window wouldnt close properly but weather hot so not problem. Gaps round main door would be problem in winter. Not impressed with menu but found another Greeneking nearby.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property desperately needed updating and decorating but it was clean and the staff in the attached pub were friendly and helpful
- David (8/5): Good value for money. - Good value for money
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The bar & restaurant are good. The Butlins type accommodation needs some updating but is still clean. Very much a contractors hotel.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Pleasant staff clean room with good food options
Rooms in desperate need of refurbishment was disappointed as people were smoking in the room below us or had previously smoked in our room as there was a very strong smell of cigarettes!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Escape from our bathroom - Living locally, We have eaten there many times but did not notice that you had a motel! We stayed while the worst of having a new bathroom at home was done. We were delighted with the service and the room was very good for the cost. Of course, we enjoyed even more of your food, especially the tasty breakfasts. Now we know, we know where to go if we have any more renovations. Thank you to your helpful staff.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Great location. Bar and restaurant very good. Room very dated but very functional.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Staff and food excellent. However the accommodation is in need of a complete refurbishment failing that some mould remover in showers would help.
I worked at the Longshoot in 1967 and it looks like you have only updated once since then. Which is a shame. Lyn
- Peter (6/5): etter than it looks - I would stay again
Getting a bit old but best hit water and water pressure i ever had at a hotel
Service was good and breakfast plentifull especially on weekends
Evening calvery is a great meal
Wifi good and plenty of parking
- Steven (2/5): Cold and Damp - Cold and Damp... We will not use Longshoot again. I feel sorry for the staff who were very nice but have to support such a tired hotel that is in much need of renovation
- Mhairi (2/5): Not worth the money - Room was terrible it had mould and rust in the bathroom and a hole in the door. My main door had a hole so I don't think it was secure, there was no main light so I only had two little lamps and it was dirty.
- Anthony (2/5): Awful - It was the dirtiest smelling hotel I have ever booked into
I have not said stayed because I left and found another hotel to stay in
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good stay..................................................................
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Whilst the restaurant and bar area is of a good standard the room was very disappointing with a poor state of décor and maintenance. There does not appear to have been any refurbishment for decades and although fairly clean the fabric of the place is tired.
- Paul (6/5): Pretty basic, not the cleanest - Mould in the bathroom and stains on the sheets. Pictures missing from walls, holes, outdated decorations.
Powerful, hot shower.
Was ok for 1 night but wouldn't recommend a longer stay than that.
- Amber (10/5): Best first time experience in the UK! - Although the building was older and more of a motel type setting, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Any questions I had about the area they were more then willing to help. The staff went out of there way to help our trip to the UK be the best it could be. They even went out and got pancakes for my son because he requested them for breakfast. If I’m ever in Nuneaton again and need a place to stay, I’ll definitely go to Longshoot!
The only negative side is that the building is aged so it’s not your 5 star hotel, but the rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable and the staff was amazing and that’s most important to me than having a 5star hotel.
- Susan (6/5): Stay elsewhere - The building is really dilapidated with peeling paint and boarded up areas.
The room we had was in need of overhaul. The paint on the bathroom ceiling was peeling and the loo screeched ever time it was flushed. The room was clean but very shabby.
Such a shame because staff we encountered were all very nice and the Carvery meal we had at the pub was excellent. The breakfast was good.
- Ivana (6/5): Hairdryer missing from room - If a room is advertised as having a hairdryer customers should not be making phone calls to reception to have one brought in the evening when they arrive. This is what happened to us.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hotel was nice and clean, all staff were friendly and rooms were quite big
- Verified traveler (6/5): An old American motel?? - Drove up to the hotel and though. “What have I booked”. Checked in by a very unhappy receptionist. I don’t think she had even heard of a smile!
Room smelt damp, bathroom mouldy. Bed was uncomfortable. Would I stay here hear again? Never. Sorry to give such a negative review but this place seriously needs an update.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - CLose to friends we were visiting, easy access from motorway,
Free parking
- Richard (8/5): Great Value - It is a great value Hotel, with an excellent carvery.. Tne actual accomodation is a little worn down..But it all works and the bed is comfortable.. A quiet area and not much noise to disturb sleep!
I will be back :-)
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good location to where i needed to be. Also food on site so no need to go out
- Verified traveler (4/5): Smells. Everywhere - Room smelt like an ashtray. Mould everywhere. Mattress stank.
- julie (4/5): Disappointing - Very disappointing. No tv remote or hairdryer. When asked at reception was told nothing could be done about tv remote but they would get 1 of the hotels 2 hairdryers to us asap , which they did but on the hotels room page it states hairdryer in each room . The room was dusty/dirty especially under the wall heater & toilet didn’t flush properly. As well as constant traffic noise from the rd we were woken 3 times throughout the night by people arguing outside in the carpark ( the latest 5am ) which nearly resulted in a fight .would not stay here again.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I'll give this hotel a wide berth next time in the area. Clean and tidy with nice staff but its essentially a worn out crossroads motel.
- David (8/5): - I will stay again
- justin (4/5): Depressing room. - Everything about the room was disappointing except the bed (which was adequate). There was mold and the wall paper was peeling in a few places. It felt like the room hadn't been updated since the hotel opened.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I needed somewhere cheap to use as a base for one night. It is rightly given a two star rating but it was very clean, the staff are lovely and the buffet breakfast was magic.
- Adrian (4/5): Needs a makeover. - We have stayed at the Longshoot several times when visiting Spring fair at the NEC, I often book 2 or 3 rooms for me and my staff. The condition of the rooms although cheap are deteriorating badly and need some maintenance. Doors that don't shut, shower either far to hot or cold, decoration needs attention especially in the bathroom. Difficult to lock the room door. The bedding and towels were perfectly clean and staff helpful and friendly. We were hoping to have a carvery meal at 7pm on Sunday night, usually 3 roasts beef Gammon and Turkey, unfortunately only Turkey was available but the price remained the same. One of my staff had fish and chips, there was far more batter than fish and the fish was completely dry and hard. Historically we have always had good food at the Longshoot but as with the rooms the standard has slipped.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Okay for the price - The room is clean and large and beds are comfortable. Good place if you are looking for good value for money no frills accommodation.
- Ben (8/5): Decent stay, good value for money - Good value, with ample parking and good links to town. Décor very dated hence my condition rating, but wouldn't expect more for the price.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Dreadful place !! Demolition job !!!! - Only stayed the one night - got refund and went to a holiday inn a few pounds more but worth every penny! This place is archaic in every way should be knocked down - avoid at all costs!!!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Room was filthy, out dated and in a shocking state of disrepair. Bathtub was stained, shower head covered in limescale, wallpaper falling off the wall, black mould evident on window frames, and rust on the radiator.
Bedsheets were clean and crisp but i wasn't brave enough to check the mattress.
The room was cheap, but no matter the price, people should not be charged to stay here.
- Dawn (8/5): Xmas stay - Always clean and warm rooms and plenty of hot water
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Paper hanging off the walls .Mould. base of bath lost all enamel. Discusting
- Samantha (4/5): Eww, this place needs a deep clean! - Despite being a non smoking room it smelt of stale cigarettes. The walls, carpet and bath were covered in stains. There was cobwebs everywhere, there was black gunk all around the taps. The only saving grace was the bed was spotless and that is the only reason we stayed.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Basic hotel but clean and comfortable. Enjoyable stay
- Fraser (8/5): - The room is clean and comfortable, though nothing spectacular. Can’t complain about the restaurant on site, either.
Easily assessable by car, but too far out if you come by train!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Longshoot is very clean and staff are excellent at all times. It cud use a facelift as it’s tired and in a bit of an era but clean and comfort are always top of my list
- kim (8/5): - We had a nice time here stayed for the motorhome show at the nec.The lady on reception gave us some extra milk for our morning tea which was kind of her.
We enjoyed the quiz night even if we came bottom.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very good but needs a bit of a up date.Beds very hard.
