- Bbouncyball (10/5): Coffee and catch up with my cousin - I CAME here again to meet with my cousin for coffee. Was met by SARAH a lovely lady very friendly nothing too much trouble. Made us feel a valued customer. The inside was really brilliant with many comfortable nook and cranny to have a quiet area to talk to. There was a menu offering a meal and drink forn£12. I may well take up the offer. There's a ruined castle to explore and quiet for a walk..this is the third time I have been here and won't be the last. I will come with my navy for food and drink. WELL DONE TO SARAH GIVE HER A PAY RISE SHE DESERVES ONE

- macieanddale (10/5): Great value, clean, friendly and tasty food - We stayed as we were attending a family funeral and we honestly could not fault this hotel, clean modern and comfortable rooms, the staff were all absolutely lovely and breakfast was the best we've had in a very long time the bacon was particularly tasty, lovely fresh ingredients. Extremely good value for money. Driving a long way from devon it was lovely to enjoy a night cap in the cosy bar before we headed to bed. Would highly recommend to everyone. Thank you caroline for your warmth kindness and understanding when I had forgotten to un freeze my bank card. Have a wonderful Xmas , we will be back in the future xx

However, the rudeness of some customers was shocking. The staff didn’t deserve it…
- U2284BTstuartb (4/5): Poor food at high price. - 80th birthday meal 30.11 25.myself and wire do not eat red meat so we ordered fish @chips at a price of £17 a meal when it arrived I thought it was a child's meal 15 chips very small portion of very very greasy fish a few peas.at £17 this was poor .wife couldn't eat hers to greasy. Staff A1.. never go again. Do not recommend it.

- 472howards (10/5): Top value close to Leicester and the M1. - The hotel has been refurbished since I last stayed there a few years ago. It is very much improved in every area. My single room was small but adequate for one person. It was very tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. The staff were welcoming, friendly and efficient. Special thanks to Pam and Dom for excellent breakfast service, and to Shell, for preparing the room so thoroughly.
- nikkidY619VY (2/5): Absolutely appalling service - Absolutely disgusting!!! I booked a room at this hotel because they state they are dog friendly and I was attending a dog show. I booked on 13th October for 1st November, clearly stating I would be bringing a dog with me. Unfortunately the friend who was travelling with me became unwell the day before I travelled. I sent a courtesy email informing them of this. I received a call at 9.30pm the evening before I travelled informing me that the hotel does not allow dogs in their rooms! This was in response to my email! Had I not sent this email, I would have arrived from Northumberland, with my dog and luggage, only to discover I could not stay! This is appalling service!! Avoid this hotel at all costs!

So we chose the castle .what I let down the roast seem like they was microwave a couple of yime during the day my . Yorkshire pudding was burnt on the outside and soggy in the middle. We have been here lots of times ..not sure if you changed management or staff . If so it needs sorting out .before you lose your customers. not one person came to ask if our meal was OK
- gillykins19 (4/5): Shockingly Disappointing - We are regular visitors to ‘The Castle’ and we have recommended it to lots of people. We have dined with small groups and large and we have always been very satisfied with our experience. However, our latest visit was extremely disappointing! Has the hotel change management? I ordered the Pan Fried King Prawns as a starter which came in the smallest ramekin that I have ever seen! The dish and the prawns were cold and the prawn I tried was both cold and chewy! I hardly ever complain but didn’t want to risk being ill as prawns need to be treated with care. The waiter, who was brilliant as always, took the dish and I was given another one. Whilst it was hot, the prawns were still chewy and dry and I doubt that they are cooked to order! Prawn need very little cooking in order to remain tender. The main courses arrived and two of our group had the gammon and I had the steak. I specifically asked for no chips but mine came with lots and one of us had hardly any. I didn’t complain as I passed them on to this guest! All of us thought that portion sizes of our meat were noticeably smaller than on our previous visits which made us all begin to wonder if it was still a ‘Chef and Brewer’ pub? I ordered the Chocolate Brownie for dessert and that was the one saving grace! We decided that we may return one more time in the future but if it’s the same, we will not be returning again and currently, we would not recommend it to anyone else.

- kirbymjs (4/5): Steak sandwich full of gristle - We generally go to the Castle in the evening but today went for lunch. We waited a long time from ordering, considering the place wasn't busy. My steak sandwich was one of the worst I've ever had, full of gristle and almost impossible to chew. My wife's chicken was OK but lukewarm. I am grateful to our waitress for refunding the cost of the steak sandwich but the restaurant needs to up its game. The hotel has been without a Manager for some months and I would urge Green King to put someone in place soon so that standards are not allowed to slip.
- kathykS6480SQ (10/5): Exceptional Food, Service, and Rooms at the Castle Hotel - We went to the Castle Hotel after our wedding at the Glenfield Registry Office and could not have chosen a better place to celebrate. The service and friendliness of the staff were outstanding. A special thank you to Tavis and Tej, who went above and beyond to look after us. We were a group of 15, and all of our meals arrived together, piping hot and absolutely delicious such great attention to detail! Eight of us stayed overnight, and the rooms were spotless, comfortable, and full of charm. We stayed in Room 16, which was massive and perfect for such a special occasion. Breakfast the next morning was A+++ and set us up perfectly for the day. Thank you to everyone at the Castle Hotel for making our special day even more memorable. Highly recommended!

- T3584HYnicholasr (2/5): Still scratching my head… - I reserved a room for one night and paid extra for an upgrade to a king size bed which I foolishly thought would be a larger and nicer room, how wrong I was… After travelling a long way I checked in and took my partner and luggage upstairs to the room, it was number 5 if you want to avoid it, as its probably best described as a box room, nowhere to store any luggage as pillows were on top of wardrobe and one could only just walk around the bed if you moved sideways! Main complaints are: The bed took up almost the entire space in the room, no 5 btw. Stains over carpet in several areas Bathroom smelt very musty even with window open! Incorrect menus were in our room, as I decided to order a pudding just before service ended a trio of puddings in one dish, alas I was told I was making up the dessert I’d chosen! So I returned to my room and retrieved the menu to clearly show I hadn’t done any such thing. The paint work both in the bathroom and the bedroom ceiling is very poor, and the shower started to overflow meaning one couldn’t be long in there at all. I did speak to someone at reception querying the room on arrival, only to be told the bed was at least king size, he was correct though one wonders why oh why put a king size bed in a box room, it makes little sense. All in all the room let our stay down as one could only fit on the edge of the bed, no room for a chair or anything else. I wish I’d just paid for a standard room and not upgraded as I’m sure the room couldn’t be any smaller.
- 734evinf (10/5): Great find - Overnight halfway stop from London to York and found the Castle Hotel by chance online. A couple of really nice rooms booked that had everything needed and were presented really well. Nice evening meal (good standard pub food) and good choices at breakfast (which was included!) too. Pam served us and was lovely - with everyone who came to breakfast! A credit to the hotel and company. I’ve used Chef and Brewer pubs before but never stayed. I’ll be coming back to this one!

Hotel staff were very accommodating, allowing us to leave car in their car par, whilst we went out walking and looked after our luggage in storage until check in time. Meals were really good, and good value for money. Rooms were clean and spacious. All hotel staff were attentive when serving drinks and meals. Good all round and very reasonable price
- Ambassador791860 (10/5): Great hotel/pub for family reunion - Booked the hotel for a meet up with family living in the area. We stopped on Saturday night and the room was lovely, with kingsize bed and everything we needed. Dom booked us in and was very friendly and helpful with directions etc. We then met the various members of the family throughout the afternoon culminating in a meal for 10 us. The food and drink were excellent and coudn't fault the staffs enthusiasm and smiles throughout the evening In the morning we went dowstairs for breakfast and again the food was excellent with good local produce and again can we thank Pam who served us for cheerfull help and assistance All in all a great stay and again pass on our thanks to Dom and all the staff We look forward staying again the near future

- alisonbB5040BC (10/5): Small but perfectly formed - I stayed in a small ground floor room, which was lovely with everything you could need for your stay. Comfortable bed, pillows, and beautiful bathroom. The best thing about the hotel is the friendly staff and great food. Special shout out to Pam serving in the restaurant at breakfast, always smiling, welcoming, and very helpful. The hotel has lovely outdoor space, gardens, and a a castle at the bottom of the garden. My favourite hotel in the Leicester area
- 873darinc (10/5): Business trip that felt like a vacation - Absolutely wonderful hotel only surpassed by the people working here. From the bar to dinner breakfast and checkin/out you are treated as a friend and member of the family. The food is wonderful and there will be plenty of it.
- Helen (6/5): - Property well maintained and clean ,however, my room 23 was subject to noise till midnight from what may have been a generator, plus bottles being put out in bins. The rip off price of £4.90 for a bottle of Harrogate still water for my room meant I gave no further business for food apart from 2 continental breakfasts The shower was very sliippery and the hotel is aware of this as it has a small notice in the bathroom advising to request a bathmat, This mat should be available in the bathroom without having to ask for one. I have contacted GK separately .
- Richard_ATB (4/5): - Visited for lunch on business around 1.45pm Sorry, not very impressed. Shown to table and took 50 mins from arrival to receiving food. However, we used the time to talk business. The restaurant was steady but not busy. Two of our choices were fine, but one was frankly well below expectation – duo of chicken – one fillet was tough and replaced. The replacement wasn’t much better and absolutely certain its texture and appearance resembled reconstituted chicken, not the varied texture and fleshy appearance of fresh. Even had to chase the bill I’ll put it down to an off day!

- Nick78Ice (10/5): Great birthday meal - Went to a meal in the restaurant on Friday night, it was very hot and extremely busy but the staff worked tirelessly to make sure you were catered for, we were served by Lottie who despite being busy, made the time to attend to us and even sang happy birthday to me, she was always ready with a smile and nothing was too much trouble, would definitely recommend the duo of chicken

- calvincoulter (10/5): A no-brainer if you're looking for relaxed comfort, and great food. - I stayed for one night on one of the hottest nights of the year. The staff were super friendly, the evening meal was just the stuff I needed, the garden, the relaxed atmosphere of the bar area, all quite without fault. The night was warm, and without air-conditioning it was a struggle. That said, the bed was comfortable, the room was quiet, and everything worked a treat. The shower in the morning was strong and hot, again I couldn't fault it. Pamela helped us with breakfast, as a table of seven all wanting different things, she coped really well, nothing was any trouble to her, attentive and charming. Great food, comfortable unpretentious place with a relaxed vibe, I'd recommend it.

- mikesY2391UL (10/5): First Class Restaurant - I love this hotel, the only place to stay in Leicester. I had dinner at the hotel restaurant and again I wasn't disappointed. Steff and the staff are very friendly and will take your order, you don't have to wait long for the food to arrive. My favourite is the Lamb Shank Shepherds Pie, delicious!

We are always well looked after particularly by Caroline and Sam. All staff are very efficient. Have been for just coffee and also lunch time meals.

Booked the hotel for two nights and ate in the restaurant on both. The staff were tentative and nothing was too much trouble. Room was very clean and spacious for us. We wanted something different to the run of the mill accomodation and this fitted the bill. The atmosphere had a really nice buzz, food was spot on in the evenings, and our experience at breakfast was just as good. Good value for money all round. Would certainly recommend and consider Chef & Brewer hotels again.
- Lindylou146 (8/5): Friendly staff and nice room! - We had a nice friendly welcome from the team and had a fair sized nicely decorated room overlooking the side of the hotel. The bed was huge and there were complementary toiletries in the bathroom, which had a rainfall shower and also an adjustable one. Complementary tea and coffee making, plus there was a nice touch….a small metal milk churn that if you took to reception was filled with fresh cold milk …..much nicer than the sachets (which were also provided). The room was very hot as the sun was on it and there was no air con, but a fan was also supplied, which did help. A suitcase stand would have been helpful as a lot of suitcases these days have to lie flat when opened. The garden area was nice for afternoon drinks and backed onto Kirby Muxloe Castle. Wi-Fi was ok although it did keep throwing me out if I didn’t use it for a bit. We had an evening meal in the restaurant ….service was good ….but we were a little disappointed with our meals especially after reading such good reviews. We had the grilled sea bass and the Barbers smothered chicken costing £36.50 for the two. The sea Bass was ok but served on a bed of rock hard Broccoli …which couldn’t be cut with the knife, the chicken was dry and the chips also…but that seems to be the way of them these days. Breakfast was served to the table by a very nice friendly lady…..there were several different options besides the full English breakfast and continental. Sleep quality was quite good until 6 am when our neighbour must have had an early start and went down for an early breakfast….banging the door on leaving and returning to the room. Actually it wasn’t easy to close the doors quietly! There was plenty of free parking too.
- Paul (6/5): The box - Room was quite small and no room for placement of suitcases. No air conditioning only a small desk fan so room became hot as it got the sun all day. Only a small top opening window to allow air in, but at night you had to close curtains due to large flood lights in carpark which also reflected off the bedroom mirror. So room became very stifled. - philbK5597YF (8/5): Lovely Village Hotel/Pub - Summer Arrived - Great customer Service - Nice Location for Summer stay - lovely outside garden and we enjoyed Al fresco dining. My room ( 20) was large and airy but I believe some are small, and very warm - fans are required. Food is nice - well cooked. The outstanding point about this place are the staff… Caroline at breakfast was superb, lovely manner and friendly, she was so helpful and I felt like she really cared that we had good service. I have to also mention Shannon, she was extremely helpful, and customer service was at a high level. All staff were very good, considering they were so busy with the warm weather packing out the pub and the IT failed on the payment machine! I will be back… 😎
- saulchark (10/5): Great service - We had a lovely stay at this hotel. We didn't have breakfast, but we brought our own and had it in the room. They were very friendly and helpful, as we asked for bowls and no problems. The kitchen let us use there fridge and freezer to store our food in it. We had dinner and was yummy. Overall I would stay here again.
- Typozalot (10/5): Lovely, friendly warm hotel - Lovely friendly hotel. Clean and nice rooms. Staff very helpful. Nice seating area in the garden, different chairs, some heated areas. Restaurant was busy but good food and service. Checked in just after 2pm and found I was upgraded to a better room always nice surprise! Becky was lovely and friendly at the reception. Room was very warm, but thankfully there was a fan in the room. Bathroom looked newish and shower was good. Zach served the best Pimm’s of the night and also helped serve our meal which was lovely. In the morning the lovely Sam served us for breakfast and nothing was too much trouble, even changing all the meals slightly didn’t phase her. All in all lovely place to stay and if I’m in the area again would definitely chose to stay here.

Paul, Rebecca, all the dining room staff, bar staff and Sam in the breakfast room, excellent service, and friendly. We had a brilliant stay for two nights. The hotel and grounds are lovely. Spotlessly clean and comfortable rooms. Great food. Nothing was too much trouble for them to do for the five of us. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a first class stay. From Avril

Kettle, hairdryer iron & board. Easily to get to and withing easy reach of Leicester. Very busy pub and restaurant at night, but didnt hear a thing. Parking available but few spaces left Satuarday evening.

- Paulystrad (10/5): A Hidden Gem - Just off the M1, but you would never know, the Castle Hotel was a fantastic find. Situated within a stones throw of the medieval Kirby Muxloe Castle. Breakfast is taken with a beautiful view of sunrise coming over the castle. Pamela was excellent at breakfast and so were all the other staff. Very friendly and welcoming. Food was great and our room superb. Greene King have done a great job with this hotel.

Service was fabulous at both, especially in the evening by Tavis, could not have asked anymore. Easy parking. Lovely setting and beer garden.

Bed was comfortable. Room was a good size. Good range of hot drinks in room with decent sized cups and nice glasses. Lovely touch with personal welcome note and chocolates. The only thing for us was that the room was really too warm even with windows open and radiator switched off. TV - lots of channels that didn’t work. Would definitely stay again.

Staff were lovely from start to finish, personalised note on the bed with 2 chocolate bars. There was tea and coffee bags as well as biscuits and the option to have a flask of fresh milk. Tasty breakfast. £72 all in for two people. Currently looking for a reason to stay again.
- Wendy (10/5): Superb - I look forward to returning! - A very warm welcome as soon as I entered the hotel awaited me. I was soon checked-in and away to my room that was a cosy single. The room and en-suite were both clean and the bed very comfortable. There was a super choice for breakfast both continental and full English etc. I chose the latter that set me up for the day and was delicious. I had dinner on 2 occasions and that was beautifully cooked and well presented. I shall definitely return next time I am in the area.

- Symon (8/5): Homely - The hotel was easy to find plenty of room to park. The check-in will a simple process and i was made to feel very comfortable. The room was very comfortable with a large bed. It had a very homely feeling. The dinner menu was simple but varied food was served within a timely manner to suggest it was cooked to order rather the chucked in rhe microwave. Good selection for breakfast to. I had scrambled eggs which wasn't on the menu but they were more than happy accommodate me.

Welcome tray with a lovely, personal message and as we would call it, ‘posh’ biscuits and drinks options with additional thought of the option of fresh milk for drinks if wanted- a little milk urn to be filled upon request and keep the milk cool! Breakfast was excellent value, again with attentive, friendly staff. Would recommend and stay again!

Thank You. - We were greeted by families having lunch and the sight of amazing food made walking into the newly refurbished dining area has an instant impact of the family feel that this hotel has to offer. The management team went so far beyond our expectations, after being let down by a rival hotel they came to our rescue. The hotel room was compact but had an amazing en-suite and comfortable bed. Very clean and a personal message welcoming us to the hotel. These little touches made us feel very welcome. This was once of the best experiences that we have had. Thank you and will be back.
