Guest Reviews
- Cliff (10/5): - Owner , Lady was a hands on hostess, she was awesome! This is a quiet place a little out of the way.
Town is a 5 minute walk to town
- Alicia (6/5): - Great location
- Aron (10/5): - Perfect little gem with a perfect spot on the beach! Would return in a heart beat!
- Sarah (10/5): - Walking distance to town and beach restaurants. Beds could use an update. Rooms were very clean and pool area was lovely. All staff were wonderful!
The beach is directly in front and is stunning!! Would go back again!!!!
- mathieu (10/5): - Great quiet hotel location right on the beach, a few minutes walk from restaurant, Friendly staff.
- Hether (10/5): - Just a beautiful spot! Stayed for 2 weeks and the staff is so attentive, the breakfast and coffee every day delicious. And the sparkling pool across from the ocean—-if you want tranquility this is the spot. A bit down away from the main part of Samara beach which was so desired for its peace. Got the AC room to be able to sleep at night, not used to the heat of Costa rica. The best restaurant right next door. Just lovely owners, very well kept with its beautiful gardens.
- Patricia (10/5): - A lovely paradise. So quiet you could only hear the ocean and the animals. Perfect for a relaxing stay. Staff and owner were very kind and helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved this little hotel. Lovely grounds, right on the ocean, clean, simple and the staff were friendly.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved this little hotel. The grounds were lovely, and it was right on the beach. It was simple, clean and the staff were friendly and helpful.
- Cory (8/5): - We really enjoyed our stay. The staff was friendly and the beach location was wonderful. Would stay again.
- Donna (8/5): - An older property but well maintained. Nice pool, beautiful beach out front. Good breakfast. The lady who owed it is a delight and very helpful. Overall a great experie ce. The beach was the highlight!
- Fiona (8/5): A few steps from an amazing beach - The hotel was clean and quiet and away from the louder parts of the beach. Breakfast was good and the host was very friendly and welcoming.
The rooms are set around a beautifully tended garden creating a very relaxing atmosphere.
Chairs and loungers can be taken onto the beach or under the palm trees.
- Andrew (8/5): - We just liked it
- Deborah (10/5): - We enjoyed this sweet, quiet beachfront property on the outskirts of what is becoming a busy town. The rooms were simple but adequate, and the property has gardens, pool, chairs and tables, and breakfast. There is food and drink about 300 feet down the beach, and the ‘downtown’ area a 10-15 minute walk down the beach. This place is for those who want peaceful, reasonably priced, and comfortable .
- Michael (8/5): - Pros:
The location is superb - 50 feet from the beach and as close as the only other 1 or 2 MUCH HIGHER PRICED hotels actually on Samara beach. Staff are great and very helpful, but only 2 of them.
Nearest restaurant/bar is only 100 yds away along the sand/beachfront path (no sidewalk on the main road - avoid at night). Other restaurants are 10min walk on the beach, a very easy flat walk but bring flashlight.
Very reasonably priced - extremely good value.
Would definitely book again.
Cons: Old hotel, not updated or renovated. Don't expect anything fancy, but it all works. Breakfast is basic ham and eggs coffee. Get the balcony room!!! Remember you are paying for the superb location, not the amenities itself.
- gregory (10/5): - I throughly enjoyed this hotel because of its location. It is refreshing to be away from everyday necessities of modern life and to just enjoy the beach. Nature to absorb to rejuvenate the soul. A longboard surfer that loves to hang ten, what better place to enjoy with a excellent choice of breakfast to start the day. Thank you to the wonderful staff.
- Gary (10/5): - Very convenient for the beach, a very short walk to a nice restaurant (Hotel Restaurant Bahia) and close by the town of Samara. Easy walk along the beach during the dry season.
Not much english spoken but communication was not a problem. Was able to upgrade to an air conditioned room which was essential due to 33*C and high humidity.
Grounds and area very well kept with flowers and trees and a large resident Iguana. Pool and jacuzzi clean and pleasant.
- Bradley (10/5): - Location is right on the beach and next door to ond of Samara's best restaurants. Only 700 metres from the Samara downtown core. Rooms available with a ceiling fan or A/C (slight pricing differential for A/C). Breakfast included with each room. Family owned and operated. Staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. Overnight security service keeps property safe and secure. Parking available on-site.
- Bruce (10/5): - This property is peaceful and calming, and there is an excellent restaurant beside it. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are basic, no frills, (no hair dryer, or shampoo for example) but we had a fan, and it was clean and comfortable. The pool and was nice, and the beach area was lovely. Pretty gardens. We were very happy!
- Ryan (10/5): - Property is dated, but kept in great shape, very clean, good staff, great location. 10 minutes to town. Good morning breakfast included.would stay here again
- Lois (10/5): - I like that it was right on the beach in that it was walking distance to restaurants and I love the staff. The only negative was
- Siobhan (10/5): - The Hotel was within walkable distance to the small town of Samara via a beautiful beach. The setting was surrounded by beautifully tended gardens and great for animal viewing , monkeys and lizards and tropical birds. The staff were super friendly and very accommodating speaking mainly Spanish, French and German. The accommodation was good value , basic but clean and comfortable ....everything you need in hot water and fans. Also, a swimming pool overlooking the ocean was a treat. All within the sounds of the rolling waves and Howler monkeys and flamboyant birds. A nature lovers dream. This setting would entice us to go back again.
- Davinia (10/5): - Lovely family run hotel with fantastic location and views. Very good value for money.
- Yasmine (10/5): - Great stay, beachfront, large bedroom, beautifully maintained landscaping, good breakfast but more than anything is the kind staff, including Mylene who was so nice and helpful. Recommended!
- Corey (10/5): - Nothing bad to say everything was awsome. They were quite friendly. Stroll down the beach to town was outstanding. Access to beach was what seemed like 2.2 sec. Will visit again and help spread the word.
- Melanie (10/5): - Lovely place right on the beach with confused lawn chairs. Clean pool. Beautiful gardens. Wonderful staff and great breakfast included. Will definitely come back!
- Brian (10/5): - This was such a gem!!
The rooms were clean, the breakfast was amazing!!!, the pool area was beautiful, and the beach within steps, and you could take a lounger out.
Anna and the rest of the staff were so welcoming and kind. Thanks for coming to get us to see monkeys, and recommending great places for dinner.
You made our stay unforgettable.
- Leeza (10/5): - Lovely hotel, situated steps to the beach. It's quiet and within walking distance to town.
- Judi (10/5): - A wonderful place to stay, very clean, very nice staff close to Samara. I would definitely stay here again!
- Wlodzimierz (10/5): - All perfect
- sabine (10/5): - We had the perfect vacstin everything was just great thank you to everybody who makes our stay so great....sabine Fleming
- Gary (6/5): - Great location right on the beach. The Pool was great. The staff and rooms were average at best.
- Oskar (10/5): - great location and a beautiful garden. very helpful an friendly Staff.
- William (8/5): - Nice place. Beautifully maintained located on the beach, 15 minute walk to town. The bed was very hard and not very comfortable, but that’s coming from someone with a bad back. The owner and manager are a bit qwerky. Very low key place. Guests were mostly older with low energy but they were all very nice. After all, I’m 70 going on 45.
- Alejandra (10/5): Love the ocean - Love the location on the beach. Nice garden with parrots, monkeys, and hummingbirds. Enjoyed having breakfast with a spectacular sea view. Short walk to town.
- Paul (8/5): - Amazing place in beautiful location but clearly working on bare bones budget. Rooms clean but worn. Hotel evokes a fading property on what must have been a beautiful facility years ago. Convenient to Samara shops/restaurants. Beach is right there. Sounds f birds and monkeys abound, with fruit trees and views.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Average resort. - This resort is very dated. It is clean but there are no amenities close by.
There’s no drinks or snacks at all.. you must walk or drive for everything.
The pool was very nice and well maintained.
Wifi is good but no TVs.
- William (8/5): - Great location on Playa Samara. A 15 min walk to town on the beach. Beautiful grounds, nice pool. It would have been nice if the restaurant and bar were open. Overall a good experience.
- Kimberly (8/5): - Beautiful hotel right on the beach. Loved the fact that I could bring their pool chairs to the beach. Comfortable stay
- martin (8/5): - We enjoyed our stay and would return again. Staff was very nice and friendly. If you are visiting in the dry season go for the air conditioned room. Much more comfortable. Very nice breakfast, convenient walk along the beach and to town. Easy walk along beach to bars and restaurants. Excellent location to the beach. Unfortunately a couple with little kids took the room next to ours, which made it noisy very early in the morning. Otherwise, recommended.
- Michael (8/5): - The grounds and location are wonderful. The pool is large and well-maintained. There are many reclining lawn chairs around the pool that can be brought to the edge of the property facing the beach, with ample shade as well. We really enjoyed our time at the beach, just steps away from our room. However, the room itself wasn't great. It was uncomfortably hot at night, and the the air conditioner and ceiling fan were too loud to allow for a good sleep. The bed was also uncomfortable, consisting of a mattress on a frame, with no box spring.
- Jana (8/5): - This resort is older but it is clean and the staff are friendly. Breakfast was included each day and the food was delicious and plentiful. The units had air conditioning and were spacious. Our bed could have used a mattress topper for some extra softness but we slept well. The pool was clean and a great temperature and the beach was just steps away. Padded lounge chairs were plentiful and there were lots of shady areas to claim for the day. Be sure to bring your own shampoo and blow dryer as these items were not available. Lots of restaurants and little convenience stores were within walking distance. We would stay here again.
- Tammy (8/5): - Great deal for what you get. Great location but a little dated. They need to buy new beds, the ones they have are very old and uncomfortable.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The staff was the best thing about this place--so kind and helpful and hardworking--they deserve all the profits. While free WiFi is advertised, we didn't have it in our room--only on our balcony (which was way too hot to use during parts of the day). I think this is really false advertising--and left some people to have to do Zoom calls from the public area outside. Also, there was a LOT of mouse poop right outside our door.
- Amy (6/5): Air conditioning a must - Very nice staff. My room was extremely hot and the air did not circulate well, even with a fan. On the coast air conditioning is very much needed or else lots of windows to have the air moving through the room. So close to the ocean! A wonderful location with easy access to the beach!!!
- Mauro (8/5): - Everything was great. A Tv amd hairdryer in the room would make it perfect.
- Wendy (10/5): - This is a lovely place to stay- just on the outskirts of the busy Samara but an easy beach walk to all restaurants. The ladies were so kind and helpful- one of them helped me arrange a ride to my next destination. The room was clean and comfortable- It was a simple sweet place to stay- When I come back to Samara I will stay here again!
- Kathy (8/5): - We really loved our stay! Staff was really friendly and helpful, hotel was close to everything without being in the hustle bustle of samara.
- Krista (6/5): - It is a nice, clean, yet ‘tired’ place. Room was utilitarian, air conditioning worked well. American breakfast is horrible, traditional breakfast okay, continental was mostly fruit. Other than that food, there is nothing at all. No bar, no music (even quiet),
I had to ask for an extra towel for beach/pool (they were not provided).
Pro: away from the hustle of the main beach, quiet at night. If that’s what you’re after.
It feels a bit depressing there.
- Danny (6/5): - Staff almost said no when I arrived early and asked for a chair to sit and do remote work, that seems pretty inflexible since I didn't expect to get my room at 8am, just a place to sit and work while I waited to 2pm after a long drive there. At the end they gave in not so pleased. That seems unreasonable since the hotel was pretty much empty and I wasn't even going to use the pool or anything else.
Looks a little outdated, no pets allowed
Property has a good location, easy access to the beach, close enough to the center at a 4 min drive. (recommend a car since walking might take a while going both ways and there is no restaurant at the hotel)
- Carla (10/5): A sweet spot on the shore - This is an undiscovered gem. By Central American standards, this next to perfect. There are several reasons we will stay here again. First, location, location, location. This right on the beach. It is within an easy walk to All the beach side restaurants, downtown Sámara, and Intercultura Language School. It is a perfect location.
Second. This is a family owned, family run establishment. Staying here supports the local people, the local economy, and the local self sustanance. The "Big Bucks" corporations use the local resources with little regard for the people. I will stay here again as an act of support for local businesses.
Third, this is excellent value. The cost of staying here is a fair price for what you get.
Finally, this is just a lovely place. The pool is clean and we'll kept. The breakfasts are excellent. And most of all, the staff treat everyone as family.
All this said, know where you are before you decide to go to this part of the world. It is NOT normal in this area of Costa Rica to have hot water; yet this hotel has hot water. It IS normal here to see lots of insects and small critters inside. You might see some here, but not many. It is normal here to cool down by fans and cold water; and you won't find electric air conditioning here. I knew all of this when I booked and loved being here.
I'll be back next time too.
- Gerard (2/5): Basic - I made a reservation in this hotel as they stated initially that there was a safe in each room. That was not true. On arrival I discovered that the room I booked was without a safe. I complained to the front deck receptionist who said that the type of room I booked did not have a safe, despite the description of the room stating otherwise. He told me that there were no other rooms available that night. However when I complained that the T.V. was not working also, he found another room. The other room was for disabled people I assume. There wasn't even a closet to hang clothes on hangers. Again I complained. This guy then told me he was the Manager (a lie) when I asked to speak to the Manager. Afterwords told me his parents owned the place. His attitude was deplorable. At least future clients will see now that a safe is not in all the rooms, in fact only 8/23 rooms have a safe. The next day the safe was removed from the decription of the rooms. Overall a rather dated propery with basic amenities. Never again!
- Barbara (6/5): Great location - but pricy for services provided - Let's start with the positives: lovely location right by the beach, spacious rooms, lovely flowery garden and good breakfast. Staff were also quite friendly.
But the hotel also has an 'end of an era vibe'. We're told on arrival that the common toilets are kept locked as a post covid measure(?!). No room cleaning for the three days we were there and being right by the beach, it showed. We could get one towel for the beach and had to keep it throughout our stay. For 100USD per night, it felt like the establishment could comfortably invest in more staffing to take care of this, or that it should cut it's prices to reflect services. Finally, if you book in USD, bring cash to pay. At the point of payment, the price is converted in colones and you could find yourself paying for more than the original booking price.
- Mary (8/5): - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
- Reeves (8/5): - The location was perfect. A 2 minute drive was enough to get away from the hustle of town, but close enough to easily walk in to check out the shops and restaurants.
There’s a beautiful, refreshing pool on site, if you’re not the ocean type.
Breakfast is served overlooking the ocean, which was a great way to start our day.
There’s no AC(not in our room at least), and even though I come from northern Canada, and work outdoors even in the winter months, the temperature was manageable thanks to the ocean breeze.
Would definitely stay here again.
- Brian (10/5): - Love that it’s right by the ocean. Restaurants minutes away! Everything you need all within walking distance. Will certainly be returning.
- Kim (8/5): As close as it gets to the water - The staff was amazing! You can tell they're passionate about what the do. You can't ask for a better location. Right on the water, and a short beach walk into town. Far enough away to be nice and quiet yet close enough to not have to drive during our stay!
This was exactly what we wanted and expected!
- Monique (10/5): - Lovely stay at a nice beachfront hotel. Very friendly staff. Great location.
- Pablo (10/5): - Amazing location!
- Harrison (10/5): - This hotel was a little slice of heaven.
Located directly on the beach, a short 5 minute walk into Samara town, and incredibly friendly staff - we couldn't ask for anything more.
The breakfast has 3 options to choose from, with orange juice and coffee.
Highly recommended.
- Richard (10/5): - We've stayed at Hotel Brisas del Pacifico 3 years ago and returned for 3 days on this trip. The owners and staff super friendly. A quiet dirt road separates the hotel from the beach. 10 minute beach walk to town where you can have everything that Samara offers. The rooms are dated but CLEAN. Comfortable bed. Great pool and shaded areas. Room fridge. Friendly helpful owners and staff. In our opinion this place is a hidden gem.
- Joanne (10/5): - Nous avons passé une très belle semaine.
A proximité de la mer, du village et surtout très paisible. Beau jardin, très bon déjeuner et les propriétaires sont très gentils et accommodants.
- Tatiana (8/5): - Nice place!
- Domenic (6/5): - Old needs upgrade
- Ray (10/5): - Well kept properly
Staff were super
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Nice, clean simple room, great pool and on the beach. Great for the budget traveller like myself. I would stay here again for sure.
- Brian (10/5): - Excelente ubicacion
- Mario (4/5): - Overpriced, underserviced. This place is run on the cheap, with an unpleasant emphasis on stinginess. The reception is supposedly open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., but it was closed for most of the time during our stay. When we arrived shortly after 6 p.m., they acted like they were doing us a favor by still checking us in. They charge $3 a day for using the tiny safety box in your room, and they'll only give you one pool towel for your entire stay. But the height of their stinginess is breakfast. It came with two slices of toasted bread, and when we asked for more, the never-smiling waitress said we'd have to pay for extra slices. The woman who runs the place is friendly, but the man who appears to own it is always looming in the background, a Machiavellian look on his face and an intimidating dog by his side, which roams around the breakfast area and barks at people. It didn't improve the breakfast experience that we had to look at saggy, bare-chested old men who think they're Robert Redford. Also, even though we booked through Expedia and received a price in dollars, we had to pay a slightly higher price in colones at check-in. A very unpleasant experience overall.
- Stephen (8/5): Quiet retreat ten minute walk from town - It was a great place for quiet and solitude — and going in to town for lunch and dinner. Right on the beach. After breakfast, nothing happens — if that's what you want it is perfect!
There is no nearby food, and water is from the bathroom tap, no tea kettle — a few small efforts here could make a big improvement.
Still, it's friendly. And they keep the place and the pool clean, and they don't attract partying crowds so you can sleep. Staff wear masks at breakfast and in your room, so the important parts of Covid safety are happening.
I would come back.
- Kyle (10/5): - Cute little property, Fairly simple. Clean and friendly
- James (8/5): Very nice - Very friendly, clean and nice place
- Nina (8/5): - very cosy as you are at the beach outside the big tourist crowds. beautiful flower garden with many butterflies, monkeys birds.... I liked the vibes for cooling down and felt really save and taken care of.
- Mauricio (10/5): - Wonderful
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff was great and the location, beach access was close to the town
- Verified traveler (6/5): - While the desciption online said there was a bar and restaurant, they were both closed. Room was okay but very dated. On the plus side the large mango trees at the parking lot were full of howler monkeys in the morning and the beach out front was excellent for swimming.
- Ron (10/5): - Great location on the beach! Great service! Breakfast was
very good and the people were very friendly!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Would look some place else. - The staff at this hotel were really nice, but the hotel itself is a bit run down and off the beaten path in Samara. There’s no a/c, which wouldn’t be a problem, but the fan in the room made a banging noise that was too loud to sleep with it on. The rooms are basic and dated, but they were clean.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The only thing lacking was a refrigerator, we would have spent more time there had we had something to keep our beverages cold.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - perfect location and great staff! Disappointed no food/bar open.
- Rich (4/5): - Apparently this hotel is up for sale and when we arrived it had been closed for over 2 months. They only opened for us and the restaurant and bar were closed. As the room hadn't been used in months, it smelled. It was creepy being the only guests and we didn't want to stay there any longer then we had to so we left after one night. The gal behind the counter was very helpful in getting us out of the last 3 nights of our reservation.
