Guest Reviews
- Ademola (10/5): - A cosy quiet place. Friendly staff and clean room
- Laura (2/5): - I booked this hotel for my son who was driving from Moncton NB to Calgary Alberta and he needed a place to sleep half way from Thunder Bay to Calgary and this was the only pet friendly place in Virden Manitoba. The place was overall filthy but what did it were the bugs in the room crawling as soon as I turned the lights on. Also the door would not close either. Asked for a different room and was told there was no availability. He ended up leaving without a refund and slept in his car in the Tim Hortons parking lot.
- Randall (10/5): - Great hot breakfast included.
- darlene (8/5): - I have no concerns about the property. They were kind enough to stay up late to provide a room for us
- Seth (8/5): - looks a bit deserted but very ok if you are finding a place to rest your head.
- Ivan (6/5): - Room was dirty. dirty walls, carpet. Bugs in the room. room was hot.
- Ed (4/5): - It’s about you’d expect. Not terrible for a quick stop, but probably due for a bulldozer soon. The rooms were clean and tidy, but the building is old and smells like its age. Some mould I. The bathroom and water damage on the ceiling.
- Wanda (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay here although we basically just slept and showered there because of being in the area for a family reunion. The bed and bedding were clean and comfortable. Plenty of towels too. AC works well. We loved the bagged breakfast that can be given the night before to put in the fridge as that allowed us to eat it at any time. That is the type of breakfast we enjoy. (breakfast bun, yogurt, apple and juice - coffee maker is in the room). The staff is fantastic.. couldn't ask for better. So friendly and efficient. It's not a fancy motel and is older but for our bang for the buck, we will definitely stay there again. We don't need fancy for sleeping as long as it is clean and comfortable. Please do not think you are getting 5 star at this affordable price. If I had to complain I would just ask the motel to wash the front door of the room and maybe redo some caulking in bathroom (the bathroom itself was very clean though). Just getting a little grubby looking.
- Amritpal (10/5): - Great staff great property
- Paul (2/5): - Old property poorly kept overpriced
- Gerald (10/5): - All good.will be back .
- Donald (8/5): - Had all the amenities that I required. Staff friendly and willing to change towels and clean if wanted.
- Kimberly (10/5): - It was for one night. Very quite and peaceful night.
- Ross (2/5): - World renowned. When I say this it means that I have been all over the world and I've never seen a worse hotel in my life. The room was dirty the hotel is about 50 years old or more service was poor there's nothing I can say that was good about this. Stay as far away from this hotel as you can.
- Ook (10/5): - Very hospitable owner. Very clean, fresh smelling room, good beds and grrat shower.
- Manuela (8/5): - The hotel is run-down and could use a renovation.
My room was not super clean, but the bed comfortable.
The staff was super friendly and helpful.
- Constance B (6/5): - Other than we couldn’t get the tv to work, our stay was ok
- Darren (4/5): - Difficult checkin, unorganized, dated, linen stained and fixtures were damaged.
- JOSEPH (8/5): Good stay, nice and clean and quiet. - After a long 13 hour day of driving, it was nice to get into this room and get a good night sleep. Had the complimentary coffee and tea in the room, decent tv. Appreciated the peace n quiet. Was rested for the next day of travelling. I would stay again, thank you very much.
- Stan (10/5): - Very friendly and accommodating.
- jo-anne (6/5): - easy location to find and closest tundra and oil centre
- JoAnne (8/5): - This is an older property but I was safe and content. The person at the desk was kind and quick.
The motel is older but my room was clean.
- William (10/5): - Simple and clean
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Bathrooms need an update. Beds were comfy with soft sheets. One duvet cover had I guess a coffee stain on it. I thought breakfast was included, but when I enquired I was told no, not since covid. Yet it says bagged breakfast on their website. Someone started their loud truck at 4.45am and left it running for over an hour before they left, it was not even that cold! They did it again the next morning but thankfully not as early.
- Dennis (10/5): - We love it. Beautiful location beautiful people.!!!
- DAVID (6/5): - The room was nice and clean. Exterior is very dated and snow was not cleaned.
- Amy (2/5): - The whole room needs to be renovated, old sinks, taps that drip, bathtub and caulking around it covered in back mold and a good size bug in the tub and bathroom floor was not cleaned. When i woke in the morning and turned the light on above my head, another of the same type of bug landed on my forehead....gross!
The staff was very friendly and the bed was super comfortable though. Only good 2 things
- Ken (10/5): - All ground level rooms
- Connie (10/5): - Old and tired
- Gary (8/5): - Good parking for motorcycles outside our room. A box breakfast that was very good and convenient to prepare in room very friendly and nice employee. Beds were ok, air conditioning was adequate and made nice white noise and not noisy.
Would stay again. Not much going on in town as far as bars or restaurants.
- PHIL (10/5): - Seen better days, but very clean
- Glen (8/5): - It was a pleasant stay at a basic motel at a great price.
- Rodney (2/5): - Spider webs in the corners of the ceiling. Spiders all over the floors and walls, mold around the windows and doors.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent Motel - Excellent motel. The proprietor was friendly and helpful, and the room was clean, stocked, and welcoming!
Although some room elements (tub, toilet, sink, light fixtures) are somewhat vintage, they do not reduce the quality of stay at all.
The bed was so comfortable, and even the pillows were great.
I would certainly stay here again!
- Rick and Kelly (8/5): Fun - Good rate and you get what you pay for.
- Ed (8/5): - We have stayed here before in November 2021 and chose here again on our cross country travels. This time we were in a room at the rear of building which appeared to have dog odour. Thankfully the weather allowed us to leave the window open which helped. The room was clean otherwise. The bagged breakfast was good.
- Marites (10/5): - Room is clean
- Melanie (6/5): - Not bad, difficult to contact staff
- PATRICK (4/5): - the room rate was great, but you do pay for what you get, really nothing. Staff were friendly but had to wait 30 min to check in.
- Ross (4/5): - Phone didn’t work
Tv not working
Room was very clean
- Bradley (8/5): - Looks it’s dated but clean
- Terri (6/5): - The room wasn’t very clean. I had to clean the toilet seat before I sat down because it had “debris” on it. Towels were stained so I didn’t feel comfortable having a shower. The staff that I dealt with was wonderful though. Very nice and helpful fellow.
- Rita (6/5): - key entry dificult; light above bed not working, temperature unit dirty, bed linens have a soiled odor
- Miguel (8/5): - Staff is nice and the room is good
- Patrick (2/5): - The place has a sign on the door at reception saying it is closed but there is a phone number to call.
It seems that the one individual running the place is busy cleaning rooms and therefore not available at reception.
No serious cleaning is done. Just a quick wipe.
- Kimberley (8/5): - No answer
- Denise (10/5): - Cleanliness
- Kimberley and Robert Ormiston (2/5): - The entrance to our room was unshoveled. Plug in for car not working. Dangerously icy and had to climb the mounded snow. This is not a recent snow. No security chain on the door. Mould in bathroom, toilet seat worn through to wood, Fan in bathroom so noisy (and disgustingly dirty) you couldn't turn light on as it was linked to the fan. Icy cold air coming in window and door. The freezer in the bar fridge was totally filled with ice. I am so upset that I spent almost $100.00 for this one night. I would have considered accepting this level of hotel if I had paid $35.00. Anything positive about this hotel is not even worth mentioning as the above comments are paramount. I would never stay here again. We slept in our clothes and left early the next morning. I have pictures for anyone who wants them. I am hopeful that this review will save someone else from experiencing what we experienced. Shame on Expedia for hosting this hotel on their website. I had an assumption that Expedia had a bar to meet. Obviously not. I want a $100 refund. We could have had a better experience sleeping in the car.
- Shawn (8/5): - It is what you except to get from a no frills hotel to stay at
- Robert (8/5): - Ok for the money.
