Guest Reviews
- Ashika (8/5): Loved it! - Really clean, nice staff. Great beach and beach bar etc. yoga class was amazing onsite. Loved the stay, room was cleaned everyday with fresh towels.
Staff very helpful and accommodating.
Would stay again! It is close to a beach club that plays loud music until early hours, but that only happened 1 night of our stay
Volveria
- Inna (5/5): -
- Nicolette (10/5): -
- WafflePants (7/5): Nice beach, bad breakfast, leaky roof - The hotel is on the beach and serves very good pizza that is not too expensive either (considering just about all prices in Tulum are excessive) - the beach is beautiful but the waves can be fierce even in mild weather - so you got to like dealing with brutal waves to swim here. In general this entire place is about looks primarily and not to do sports or hikes.
I would not return here for sure. This hotel seems to be on the downhill. We had breakfast here a few years before and it was great. This year they can't even be bothered to give you some fruits. All you get three slices of toast, margarine and some kind of eggs. We had to resort to buying bananas, papayas, oranges cutting them up and bringing that to the so called "free" breakfast. Cost like 5 dollars to do that. We found that to be ridiculous that a hotel at this price point would not even get you some fruits for breakfast.
The room was severely leaking during a rainstorm! Houskeeping only showed up after two days and after asking them to come. The parking area is tiny and you'll have a hard time getting you car in or out.
- rachel (4/5): Go for the beach club. Don't sleep here. - Location is amazing. Management have let it down. They boast to be a hotel but its very basic, more like an expensive hostel. Even though there's a restaurant on site, service staff, though kind are untrained and we felt as if we were in the way. The Mosquito net in our room should be thrown away, it was so dirty and disgusting to sleep under. We had two days of rain and water came in our room, staff did nothing to address this even after numerous leaks. There were events at the hotel but not communicated to guests. Hotel management brought in a large group of friends who created a party but guests were not made to feel welcome, in fact we were largely ignored. After 3 days into our 7 day stay, we started to feel down and so went to other hotels for bar and dinner service where we got smiles and fabulous hospitality. Then we would return to Dos Ceibas for the same glum atmosphere. Its such a lost opportunity for such a great position but whoever running it, is running it into the ground.

- Anna-Mariia (9/5): Stay here if you want to fully recharge on a budget. - Paradise. The grounds look otherwordly and well kept. However, the shower was an issue (we knew about the saltwater, but it was hard to figure where hot water was, as it was turning only after a long wait). Fan was loud, too. Beautiful beach, good location if you want to be away from the crowds. But mind that it’s away from Tulum and the road along the coast has speed limit, so it would take twice longer to drive.

- Edward (9/5): Considering the price, it's an awesome place to stay right on the beach. Rare deal in Tulum. - Incredibly friendly staff, free breakfast and good coffee. I had to pay extra to be moved away from the generator but the oceanfront unit was awesome. Poor wifi, no screens on windows, charged exrtra to be moved into an available room away from the loud generator that runs 24/7.
- andrea (8/5): - Banheiros. Chuveiro.
- Eduardo (9/5): Una semana excelente!!!

- Justin (1/5): This is the second time this has happened to us I do - We did not get into the property as the rooms we booked was not available and we spent 1 hour talking to bookings trying to get this mess sorted out Pull the rooms we booked was not available
- PATRICK (1/5): Plus jamais - Rien Tout
- Annette (10/5): A great place to get away and relax! - Location and size and friendly staff! Everything was wonderful!
- Guest (1/5): Pick anywhere else to stay. - If you want to stay in a hotel with cockroaches and rodents and mosquitos in your room, then this is the hotel for you. We stayed in the ocean suite room, where there were multiple exposed areas in the ceiling and roof where the bugs and rodents entered in from (included pictures of these exposed parts as well as one of the cockroaches that ended up on our bed). When I brought this issue up with management, they handed us a broom and told us that they would fix it when we were out on our excursions. Guess what? They never fixed the issue. They eventually moved us to another room for the final night of our stay after we demanded it. We were told that management would reach out about providing compensation and after waiting for almost a week, we didn't receive any email or call about compensation.
- Matias (8/5): -
- Francesca (10/5): -
- Peter (4/5): Eco hotel yes but even eco can be done in a clean and modern way. - Staff was high level friendly. Own beach club. First come first serve. For some reason it’s a 4-star hotel but more like 2-3 stars due to the fact that is old and not been renovated over the years. Broken showers, looks dirty. Stains ( blood or I don’t know what ) on all sheets and curtains. Door closes very hardly, wifi connection is weak. No reply when asking something over booking, I just arrived and got my keys from the parking guard no check in and no check out, like you are normally used at a hotel.

Rede do quarto rota.
- Simone (10/5): -
- Ahmadi-Englmann (10/5): - Fantastische Lage sehr freundliche Personal und super Essen.
Alles unglaublich schön Nicht
- Dorka (5/5): - Szép környezet, kedvesek az ott dolgozok. Légkodno hiánya, rengeteg szúnyog, sós volt a víz.
- Guest (1/5): Horrible from a to z :( - The server at the restaurant was nice. All the rest was horrible from a to z. Service was horrible. Most of the staff is hiding. The room was so dirty. Everything is run down and broken. The place needs major maintenance. I really cant beleive how dirty the room and whole entire hotel was. My bedding was disgusting. They offered me another room that was way worse. The rooms were empty i dont understand how they offered me such a downgrade. They never sent anyone to clean. The drinkable water was filthy. Im horrified. Dont ever stay there
- valentina (10/5): -
Danke.
- OMAR (10/5): - Super recommended, the staff and hotel concept are the best of the best
- Zadig (10/5): Super - - Mer nettoyée
- Petit dej super
- Personnel super sympa
- Laura (1/5): If you bathe in bug spray you might be ok - It's important to know that the bungalows are not fully sealed between the roof and the walls, meaning not only mosquitos but all types of critters and spiders can get in. I saw a huge furry spider come in from under the door. There is no a.c. so it was hot as heck, and only the big bed had a bug net around it, so the third person was completely exposed to the relentless mosquitos. The Internet was terrible, even though it says high speed Internet is provided, it's only strong in the outdoor restaurant area.
- Riccardo (3/5): Poor -
- Bezich (10/5): Paradise jungle on the beach with authentic vibes and great service. - Esli our host is an angel. the whole staff was over the top accommodating, we had our breakfast delivered to our balcony twice. the room was beautiful and so were the grounds. the grounds keeper does an amazing job of keeping up the gardens and pathways and raking the sand. Carlos, one of the servers has the sweetest smile and demeanor. we loved our stay and would definitely return. loved the hammocks and breeze and birds and wildlife on the property, you really feel like you are in paradise. the tacos were a bit dry, we preferred the brick oven pizza which was excellent.
- Bernie (8/5): - Be aware that there is no air conditioning and the rooms are extremely hot other than that inconvenience, the facility is great!
- Benjamin (7/5): Good -
- Roisin (10/5): Exceptional - Location was amazing and peaceful, lovely staff Breakfast wasn’t the best as the coffee was terrible
- Tobias (9/5): wonderful, we enjoyed is very much, beautiful beach, beautiful authentic hotel. - as we came from USA with all air conditioning and refrigerators, we have been struggling the first 2 days to adjust to the heat and sleep with no air-controlled room. but after 2 days we have recognized how beautiful this place is and what mother nature brings with it. wonderful experiences. absolutely great to live in the jungle. Also all the big night life is more far away, so nights is really quiet. there is nothing
- Birol (6/5): Good but not entirely satisfying. - Very good location, walking distance to many good places. Very smiley staff, good service. They gave us room upgrade as comp which was a nice touch. We were in room 7 which was right above the restourant kitchen, there was constant noices even at night and food smell coming, we couldn't sleep relaxly at all. Shower wasn't steady and hot and cold water was always waving. We had to burn ourself few times.
- Carlos (10/5): Exceptional - The staff are super nice and the food was delicious .
- Liz (2/5): - This was our second time in Tulum in a span of 3 weeks. Our first stay was much better at a nicer property...but we chose this property for our second stay (this time with children) based on the photos on the site, especially showing the bed on the upstairs of the bungalow, so we would have a place to hang out after putting the kids to bed. The entire "upstairs" of the bungalow was empty, so it was a complete wasted space. The shower and bathroom are so incredibly dirty, my skin crawls just thinking about it. We stayed for one night (of a nine night reservation), and packed up and left. We found a much cleaner hotel and enjoyed our vacation much more. Don't waste your money! It's SO hot (I expected that in the daytime, but even at night, it's very uncomfortable) without air conditioning. We thought it would be an adventure, but the filth was just too much for us. I wish I could say that they had been kind and attempted to resolve anything for us, but the staff was rude and unaccommodating (both during our one night stay, and after). I even waited over a month to post this review, hoping for a peaceful resolution, but instead, I will post my honest review so hopefully others will be informed about the conditions of the property and the unacceptable attitude of the staff. I will definitely spend my money elsewhere in the future!
- Heidi (8/5): Very good - The beach area was lovely and the setting and Mayan style bungalows lovely. The story of how it came to be is also lovely - a couple who came together from different countries, and vowed to create a space where love grows. The anchor is a beautiful ceibas tree, which they planted when they first arrived. It's huge and has a commemorative sign. There is massages and some spa services offered (including a traditional Mayan sweat lodge), as well as a yoga platform. The restaurant is right on the beach and serves delicious food and cocktails. There is an array of different seating where you can perch and lounge for the day! I did find the service a little slow coming to the lounge chairs. It was fine when you approach the bar. But sometimes it takes a long time for the server to return to see if you want anything, or to deliver your order. This easily could have been an extra busy time. I did feel that because I was alone, maybe I wasn't focused on as much. This is really a minor thing but it's something I did notice.
The huts are a little bit older (the faucet in the bathroom for example, slightly rusted). This did not bother be in the least. The room is not air conditioned, but there are fans directly above the bed, and in the room. The shower is lovely. There is privacy and a lovely little front yard. The location is ideal, and you can walk to little shops.
- Morgan (7/5): Good - Super beautiful location, staff were all very friendly, only call out was the showers hot water was a little temperamental - otherwise lovely and would recommend!
- Susana (7/5): Eco hotel that needs some adjustment - It is eco hotel next to the beach. Beautiful cabanas. Beautiful beach. The staff at the restaurant is nice and friendly. I have been here before many times and unfortunately every time is getting worse. I had the room #2 and for some reason it had strong urine smell so I had to open windows 24/7. As soon as the windows closed the smell was back. It is something with the sewer system under the floors… The breakfast is just ok. I wish they offered better coffee… I left my sunglasses at the property when I checked out and I texted them and called them, they didn’t reply… I came back in 30 mins after checking out and the guy at the parking didn’t let me to park. So I had to park on a street risking to get my car towed… The front desk guy told me they didn’t find my sunglasses. I told him I would check the property myself and went to the beach area. And guess what - they immediately found them. Be careful leaving your things. Unfortunately I will not be back.
- Giuliana (7/5): Good -
- Nabil (10/5): - Francisco at the restaurant was amazing! Friendly and attentive all the time
- De (10/5): Had the best time, it reminded me of old Tulum. - Room was great, super lovely space. Maybe just the breakfast, which was included, was a bit small.
- Daniel (10/5): - Relaxing
- Florin (9/5): Superb -
- Rosa (1/5): Bad -
- Tom (9/5): Superb -
- Danielle (7/5): Good Experience to be close to nature. - I love how connected to nature this hotel is, the beach access and all staff.
Everyone was very helpful and kind. I like that we have enough parking space as well. There was a generator close to our room and it was very noisy, if you are not in one of the "upgraded rooms" the breakfast is really disappointing, the treated salty water in the shower is not very pleasant if you plan a long stay.
Not having an AC can be an issue during hotter days.
- Ketevan (8/5): Very good -
- Armando (9/5): Great value and service, bad wifi - Good food, great beach, great service.
Rooms are comfy and of good size. Free drinking water outside the room. Weak wifi in the room (fine in other areas
Most of the time, the reception was empty
Restaurant closed too early (no dinner option)
- Spence (7/5): Good - Location was wonderful. Staff was excellent. Food and drinks were excellent. The room was really musty and was extremely overpriced. I would not stay here again. The room was very sub par and VERY overpriced compared to every other place we stayed in the Yucatan and Tulum.
- Mohammad (6/5): Pleasant - Good location and beautiful beach Facilities and services
- Verified traveler (2/5): No refund as stated - I got sick and had to cancel my reservation . I was told with proof of illness I would get a refund. They lied and never gave it to me after approving my doctor's note and saying they would.
It's been a very annoying process no one is getting back to me and there are arguing between hotels.com and the hotel directly This has been a very negative experience and I am extremely frustrated
- Lena (7/5): Positive doesn’t outweigh the negative so won’t be back - Nicely located right at the beach. Pretty far down the beach strip though, so you definitely have to take a cab/collectivo. Couple „Tulum style“ Boutiques and pricey restaurants around. The Beach area was nice, drinks and pizza were delicious and the staff was really friendly. Nicest staff we came across in Mexiko. Also fairly priced happy hour. Also good brekkie. If you go for the Apartment (the non palapa bungalows) be aware that they are close to the generator (off from 9pm to 9am) and rather dark. Water in the shower and sink is saltwater. My skin and hair absolutely hated it. Also only cold water in the shower. Linen, towels and curtains were old and stained as was the pillow and bed cover. Towels were changed daily and felt clean though. They sat they’re eco and get solar power, however no panels to be found. The furniture was outdated and the hammock outside mouldy.
Nice service and good food, but would not come back.
- Anthony (4/5): - While the staff at this location were exceptionally kind and welcoming, the overall experience left much to be desired due to numerous issues with cleanliness, maintenance, and basic amenities.
The shower situation was particularly troubling, as it was controlled by two unlabeled wooden blocks, making it nearly impossible to regulate the temperature. The water alternated between scalding hot and ice cold every few seconds, which made showering uncomfortable and frustrating.
The property itself felt unclean, and the security of the accommodations was questionable. Our door seemed so flimsy that it could likely have been breached with minimal effort, raising serious concerns about safety.
To add to the discomfort, there was no air conditioning, and the power cut in and out frequently, disrupting what little comfort was available. Compounding the issue, there is no Verizon cell signal in this area, leaving guests entirely dependent on Wi-Fi, which may not be reliable during power outages.
On a positive note, the view was breathtaking, offering a serene and picturesque backdrop. However, the location is extremely remote, which may be inconvenient for some travelers.
Unfortunately, my stay was further marred by a case of food poisoning, which I suspect was caused by the bacon served with the American breakfast. I would strongly recommend avoiding pork products here or considering alternative breakfast options.
- Sarah (8/5): Wonderful stay - Beautiful spot, right on the beach. Expect low key in terms of air conditioning, hot water etc but the location and staff out ways that all Please expand the breakfast menu!
- Marvin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tamás (10/5): Exceptional -
- florakissdozsai (10/5): Amazing place - Everything was amazing, including the accomodation, the beach and the food/drinks. The staff was really nice and helpful, especially Eric. Thank you for everything, we'll definitely come back and we'll also recommend it to our friends and family! ❤️
- Ivette (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (10/5): A wonderful time to take a break from travelling all the time. Very relaxing and greatly appreciated - Great location. The restaurant and reception staff, uriel, eric, liliana snd others were so helpful. Rooms were clean and the early morning quiet on the beach was very enjoyable.
- Lilian (10/5): I would love to come back! - Everything!! Service and location were excellent!
- Luka (9/5): Superb - We got upgrade to beachfront deluxe room for very good price. Which we really liked.
The hotel in the nature is really romantic and pleasant.
If you want to relax at perfect beach this is the place. There is no A/C in the rooms. That is really a problem in standard rooms where is big moisture.
Breakfast is tasty, but could be more options.
- Vtravel (5/5): A lovely place I just couldn’t relax as I planned - I have a great time at the hotel during the day. The staff were amazing and courteous. The beach, gardens, and accommodations are well maintained. The food and drinks were delicious yet pricey. The problem for me was trying to sleep in a sauna with mosquitoes. There were no air conditioning or fridge in the room. My room had two small fans that did not cool the room. The staff try to assist and on the second night they facilitated a table fan for me to finally be able to sleep. The Wi-fi signal is weak or no signal at all in the room. Please add that valuable information in the hotel description. Customer are misleading by the lack of crucial information. The hot weather made those rooms far from the beach inhabitable.
- Kaylee (7/5): Great ambience, nice studios and friendly staff - The hotel staff is super friendly, the beach area is very nice, and the ambience of the hotel is very chill jungle-ish. Great fresh juices every morning which we loved. Easy communication during our stay via WhatsApp. The taco restaurant/bar right outside is worth a visit. They tidy the sand and clean up the seagrass everyday. The first three nights of our stay we stayed in normal studios. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the beds are comfortable. The following three nights we slept in superior studios. Very similar rooms but a more private setting. Overall it was great, but unfortunately these rooms came with some small downfalls. One had barely any water pressure, a fan was not working + the hammock was missing, and the shower water remained cold in both rooms the whole time (while the sun was out). The included breakfast is okay but nothing too special or filling. Price-wise however reasonable.
- Edwin (10/5): Exceptional -
- El (5/5): Passable - The receptionist was very helpful the first day. No AC It was extremely hot at night I couldn’t sleep.
- Sandra (6/5): Disappointed that we weren’t advised there was no wellness whatsoever - Location in the trees directly on the beautiful quiet beach. Lovely security staff No wellness whatsoever or water toys - last order for dinner 1920! Hassle to get your beach towels changed
- Feliciano (7/5): Good -
- I4107PFroyb (2/5): Not for practical people. R&R? Go somewhere else. Seriously. - Where to begin... there are 2 reasons to visit Tulum- to Rest & Relax or to go diving. I came for the latter, and staying in this hotel was a mistake.
Dos Ceibas is very far from the city center, it would take 350 pesos and 20 minutes to get there, assuming the taxi drivers won't scam you (and trust me, they will).
Reception's availability is probable- they are either there, or they are not. WhatsApp will fix that until the evening.
WiFi- there is no reception of it in the rooms. Go outside to the beach. It's a world of opposites I say...
The rooms themselves are of poor quality. There is no air-conditioning, only 2 fans. The nets are torn and mosquitos will have a lot of fun at the room, accompanied by ants and baby cockroaches. Your drinking water supply is one pitcher per room. When you're out- you're out. I had to ask for more, but naturally, no AC means ice in the pitchers will melt in less than an hour, and I ran out at night.
Breakfast isn't great, it should start at 7:30 but in reality, don't expect anything before 8AM, which for me was a problem because I needed to leave by then (25 minutes to the city center).
The staff's level of English is limited, especially in the restaurant.
After I finish dinner (around 9PM) and I head back, they close the doors, and there is no lighting or indicators for the name of the hotel, so it's easy to get lost without taxi.
Still, not to be overly negative, I will say the following that goes well for them- the staff are nice people and will help you with problems (if you speak Spanish). The beach is splendid, and quiet, and the water is very warm and pleasant.
To summarize, if you want a place to do some R&R and got nothing else planned, and you speak Spanish- go ahead! But if not, stay away from Dos Ceibas like the locust plague- or end up trapped in one!
- Anna (6/5): Mixed feelings - The hotel is cute, the staff very friendly and the beach amazingly beautiful! The swing on the photos of our room was missing - it was one of the reasons I had booked it. I thought my daughter would like it. The photos of the rooms are very bright, but our room #3 was very dark and dreary with not a lot of light. It‘s an eco hotel, I get it. But does there have to be only cold water? Breakfast choices very, very limited. When we asked for honey or butter instead of nutella, because our daughter is allergic, we paid 30 MXN extra. Not very flexible… Also to reach the hotel it takes about 20 minutes by car on the Beach road from Tulum - quite long.
