- Rui (8/5): - The staff are working hard, and they have achieved everything that makes it a very good ryokan, from any perspective. Interesting fact: the average age of customers is notably higher than the other ryokans I have stayed in Japan. Although I have nothing to complain about, I still have something to say, which is not for everyone, but just for travellers like me: it lacks the soul – everything is good, but it feels more like a "facility". There is nothing wrong about that, but worth noting for maybe a few people like me.

- WESLEY (10/5): comfort and courtesy - refreshing and calm. Have a glass of wine by the Koi pond after dinner. - There was a slight confusion during check-in really just due to my limited language skills). Staff were very welcoming and and kind - wait stay in restaurant were especially precious. A prompt shuttle is provided to the parking area - even though it's just a very short walk. When I asked about a store nearby, a staff member who was getting off work walked me to the store. Food options were good for both dinner and breakfast. Room was very comfortable and lake area I the middle was impressive with large colorful Koi. Interiors in common area are very pleasant and relaxing. Although this ws a royakon - I would highly recommend it for a stay by a solo traveler. I wish there was a coin laundry - but I understand. - it was offered to drive me to a nearby laundry of I request.

- Jennifer (10/5): Ein toller Aufenthalt in ruhiger Lage - Gleich bei unserer Ankunft waren mehrere Mitarbeiter zur Stelle, um sich um uns zu kümmern. Der Parkplatz ist circa 500 Meter entfernt, doch nach Abstellen des Autos wurde ich per Shuttlebus zurück zum Hotel gebracht, wo ich einen Spezialität zur Begrüßung bekam. Das Zimmer war schön groß und ein weiterer Mitarbeiter kam zur ausgemachten Zeit vorbei, um unser Futonbett aufzubauen. Die Bäder sind sehr schön und entspannend, nicht zuletzt wegen der tollen Eindrücke der Natur. Wir waren rundum zufrieden!

- Francois (9/5): Une superbe étape avec un excellent rapport qualité/prix - Je connaissais déjà cet établissement et l'ai retrouvé avec plaisir! Hospitalité et service " à la japonaise". Très beau cadre, lobby donnant sur un ravissant jardin japonais, boutiques proposant des produits de qualité, chambre immense et couchage "tatami-futon! Bains très agréables! Cuisine délicieuse et artistiquement présentée, tant pour le diner que le petit déjeuner! Service de navettes entre le ryokan et la gare JR de Atsumi-Onsen ( prévenir de l'heure d'arrivée!! , pour le retour, pas de soucis, navettes en correspondance avec les trains) Communication un peu difficile avec le personnel dont certains membres maitrise peu l'anglais, même basique! Tout se régle cependant grace à leurs traducteurs automatiques

- Olivier (7/5): Disappointing - The dinner (would even have been better with some explanations in English). The friendly staff at the outside coffee shop the exception). All the rest. No welcoming culture, had to drive my car to a parking lot 10 min away, had to walk back (and to, at departure, with my luggage). Nobody speaks a single word of English (they have staff speaking Chinese though), they give you forms in Japanese to sign, no explanation. The room I was attributed (East wing) was old, and nothing like on the photos on booking.com. Everything is worn off (when the staff tried to open a wardrobe, he had the doorknob in his hands), the bathroom somewhere from the 60’s. Which neither for the toilet nor the wooden bathtub is a plus. I left after one of the two nights I had booked. Could not stay longer.

- Jeff Rayden (1/5): Misrepresented Mountain View, Poor Service, and Deeply Disappointing Stay - The hotel appeared to be in good condition. We booked this hotel specifically because it was sold and represented as offering a mountain view room. Unfortunately, this turned out to be a serious misrepresentation. Only about 10% of the view included any mountain at all. The overwhelming majority of what we saw from our room was another building and rooftops. This was extremely disappointing and upsetting, especially given the premium we paid for this experience. The disappointment left us distressed and unable to even enjoy the expensive dinner and breakfast that were included in our package. What was meant to be a highlight of our trip turned into a very unpleasant experience. To make matters worse, when we left hastily, we accidentally forgot one of our cell phones in the room. Several hours later, after driving back, we were relieved that the phone had been recovered and placed at the front desk. However, the staff made no effort during the entire day to contact us on our primary phone number to alert us. This lack of initiative and courtesy only added to our frustration. For a hotel of this caliber, we expected honesty in advertising, basic consideration for guests’ wellbeing, and a proactive approach to guest service. Unfortunately, none of these expectations were met.

Wifi connection in room was very weak (had to go to hall to connect). Not many English-speaking staff but made do with Google-translate. Would have appreciated food/snack options in bar but bought snacks at well-stocked gift store and small snack outlet on street where they have nice hot spring foot baths next to the river. The garden is beautiful and the private onsen was excellent. Probably easiest to visit by car (plentiful space in their off site parking lot); the train option would be cumbersome. Beautiful rose garden associated with the shrine up the hill; in full bloom at the end of June. Small restaurants nearby.

Showed us where to park and had an English speaking front desk staff to show us around and explain the hotel bath, dining, and other schedules. The hotel grounds were gorgeous. The room was extremely spacious and I wish we could have stayed a few more nights to enjoy everything. Hope to be back one day.

The food was interesting and very delicious. At the time of the stay there was sadly a construction site visible from the inside pond area.

- Eric (10/5): This was a magical and delicious stay hosted by the kindest of professionals. - The staff were exceptionally kind, generous, helpful, pleasant, welcoming, and fundamentally awesome. They made my stay feel truly special. The facilities are all wonderful... it is such a magical place! The interior courtyard garden is peaceful and lovely. The outdoor onsen is a gem... and not too hot, so one can actually enjoy it for a nice long time. And the food is just delicious, inventive, beautiful, and totally satisfying. I stayed one night, then spent a night away at Mt. Haguro, then returned for a second night's stay at Tachibanaya and felt as though I was coming home! No concerns at all! Everything... every single thing exceeded my expectations.

- Chang (10/5): A very pleasant relaxing onsen heaven that makes you feel outdoors when you are indoors...... - The private onsen in the room is amazing! The window can be fully opened and we enjoy the mountain view and fresh air so much. Tachibahana location is great too. We can take a pleasant walk along the Atsui river and experience the mountain village life. We booked two nights. The first night dinner was exceptionally wonderful, full of gentle spring flavors. The chef is truly great. But the second night dinner was much below expectation, and service level was slow too.
- Emma (10/5): Sensational! - We were staying in one of the suites and it was sensational. We were told the room had been redone about a year ago and the room was luxurious and very spacious. We had our own private onsen which was amazing and so beautiful particularly when it was snowing. The communal area was also quite new (the photos don’t reflect the update). Watching the koi fish from this area was very relaxing. The public baths were also very clean and relaxing. The staff were very professional and kind. There was only one staff member who spoke English but everyone made us feel so welcome and we used a translating app when we needed to. I would definitely recommend staying here. I can’t speak highly enough about how much we enjoyed our time here.

- Verified traveler (8/5): Overall a nice stay, we would definitely come back - Overall nice stay with exceptionally good sleep on the futon mats. Huge traditional apartment with two big rooms and plenty of space. Very quiet. We didn’t have a nice view from our suite but the view of the garden from other rooms and communal space is amazing (though the windows are very dirty anyway). The staff is lovely and very attentive although speaks absolutely no word in English (apart from one English native speaker). The check in process and parking took forever with very slow translations on the phones. The communal baths are nice, the private rooftop baths are nice too but didn’t feel clean (feeling a layer on the bath floor and seeing plenty of leaves in the pool three days in a row). The carpet in the hallway is so stained it makes you feel concerned when you first enter worrying if the room is clean. It was a bit contrastive with the posh and elegant service all the staff was trying to give. The room was nice and clean though. The dinner was delicious, well worth trying.

- Yu (8/5): - 歴史ある旅館で料理やサービスも良く総じて満足です。しかし、施設の老朽化は隠せないなぁという印象を受けました。また駐車場の案内がなく、送迎込みということでスタッフに声をかけなければならない点が手間に感じた。

- Pieter (10/5): - It was a nice stay. There are some great features to this place. It's beautiful, has great updated amenities, and it's perfect for a relaxing trip. However, the website was hard for me to use and it was difficult to get anyone on the phone who speaks English. This made booking a room difficult, as well a working out some details of my stay. It was also kind of boring place to stay. Most clients were families with babies or older couples. Nobody spent time in the lounge/ bar at night, only for coffee in the morning prior to checkout. The restaurant was good, but not amazing. I had better meals at some home stays in the area. If you're looking for something very cozy, quiet, and standard hotel experience, this is for you. If you want something a little more fun, with great food and still have a relaxing time, there are better options.
- Scott (3/5): Welcome Baby Program Assures You Will be Surrounded by Young Children and Infants Everywhere - Annex room was spacious and garden views are nice. Property is overrun with infants and toddlers. The hotel has a VERY popular program called 'Welcome Baby' which attracts MANY families with infants and tots. All common areas are overrun with preschoolers and babies. If you like eating, bathing, and lounging with crying and screetching children then this is a great hotel for you. If you like having babies and 2-3 yr olds surround you in the lobby, bar, lounge, garden, hallways, baths, and dining rooms then this is a perfect hotel for you. But if instead you desire a peaceful, quiet, and relaxing adult experience you will not find it here. Welcome baby program = unwelcome adult program. Choose accordingly.

- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional - The staff were very friendly and professional. The lounge and garden were beautiful. The place is clean and well-maintained. They have tama-konyaku at the lounge for guests to snack on while waiting for the room. The onsen was huge and enjoyable. The food was lovely, just the right portion so there’s no wastage. Nothing!

(10/5): - 以前、日帰り温泉で利用して以来ぜひ宿泊してみたいと思ってました。期待以上の良い宿で大満足でした。朝夕食ともにダイニングでの食事でした。品数も多く地元食材を使った料理はどれをとっても美味しかったです。仲居さんが目配りを怠らないので、次の料理や飲み物など待たされることなくテンポ良く提供されました。大浴場は脱衣所、浴室共に清潔で気持ち良かったです。スタッフの方は廊下ですれ違うと必ず立ち止まって挨拶して下さいました。一番印象的だったのは、外国人スタッフの方々が日本人スタッフにとけ込んで働いていらっしゃることでした。とても温かいものを受け取って帰ってきた気持ちになり、この旅の一番の思い出になりました。必ずまた行きたいです。

- Richard (8/5): Love the atmosphere and onsen. - The peaceful atmosphere of the whole place. The meals are so coordinate and precise. Very refine. At the arrival and departure, there is such courtesy. It feels like a VIP arriving to the hotel, but when they come out to send me off, it feels like a family member is departing. Don't have an email to contact. Finally track it down. But, no one return email because of poor English understanding. Seems like there are only 3 people who can speak English. My concern is how to arrange the pick up from the train station to the hotel. I have to contact my secretary to call them twice. First time was only Japanese speaking front desk workers. In the morning, my secretary finally get through and arranged my pickup.

- Adam (10/5): Exceptional - The staff were all wonderful. I was caught in a snowstorm driving in but they were so understanding about me arriving late. Even with no Japanese speaking they made me feel very welcome and respected. The food was wonderful with so many flavours. I only wish that I had stayed longer I loved everything

- Garry (10/5): Wonderful Onsen experience. - Everything! The hotel is comfortable and attractive. The staff are exceptional and so helpful in all aspects. The onsen facilities are wonderful and the food was heavenly. We were there for three nights as a rest and step back from our hectic holiday. Left feeling refreshed and sad that our stay was over. The fact we had to leave! I could have very happily stayed longer.
