Bring your own food because it doesn't offer a complimentary meal service but we didn’t spend much time in the room anyway. We stayed in a Deluxe Cabin w/King bed. It was spacious for my wife and I. If you're bringing kids it might feel a little cramped. It was a couple steps up from camping. We enjoyed how secluded and quiet it was! If you're not interested in having everything be brand new and more focused on the experience of getting away and experiencing nature then I would recommend Hanging Horn.

We want to come back next summer when we have relatives come for a visit from Alabama.

View from the room was amazing. I watched loons fish in the lake and heard their calls several times. A bit off the beaten path but that’s part of its charm! Highly recommend!

Inside was easy access for someone with a walker. Beds were comfortable and bedrooms large...one king size bed the other bed was queen with a little porch outside a door in the bedroom. Grounds were beautifully kept with the.lake down a hill and didn't seem overly crowded by boat traffic. Water vessels available with life Jackets and a decent beach area. Several fire pit areas were available with chairs all around for comfort and so you don't have to bring your own...it rained so we didn't get to have our s'mores but I just bet it would be perfect. Grills are at each cabin if grilling is your thing. Let's just say...PERFECT PLACE TO VACATION, GET AWAY AND RELAX.

If you are looking for a place to stay overnight in the Moose Lake area, I highly recommend a lakeside room with its huge windows overlooking Hanging Horn Lake. - Richard (10/5): More than we expected - This is a quaint, out-of-the-way resort, which is not so quaint and not so out-of-way. A beautiful setting on a quiet lake. The staff made sure we were taken care of and our family enjoyed some time on the lake in peace & quiet.
- Tatianna (10/5): A hidden gem - This resort is absolutely amazing! The view out our window was just gorgeous, and we loved being able to walk along the lakeshore. The hotel itself is very cozy, and well kept up. Our room was spacious, clean, and had a very homey and welcoming feel to it. They have a library of DVDs, books, puzzles and games that you can borrow while you are staying, and watch/play in your room. The staff was very friendly and had great recommendations for local restaurants. I was delighted to find a collection of locally found agates on display by the front desk, and I was able to buy a jar of them. I think it will serve as a beautiful keepsake from this trip, and I can't wait to come back and stay again.

- Abbey (10/5): Charming and cozy :) - Hanging Horn is such a hidden gem! They provided breakfast for us- things like cereal, yogurt, and pastries. One of the most surprising parts of our stay was the unlimited access we had to their canoes, kayaks, and other lake equipment. We took the canoe out on the lake, and had a wonderful time. This is such a charming little place. They have a large selection of dvds so we could watch some movies too. This is such a peaceful location too.

My only caution is that the room did not have a way to adjust the temperature. It became very warm throughout the night, which typically is not an issue, but I cannot sleep when it is too warm. The bed was VERY comfortable.

Charlie, the owner, gave us a great Minnesota welcome and made sure we had everything we needed. Upon entering our lodge room, the first thing that caught my eye was with breath taking view from the 8 foot windows that overlooked the lake. Amazing!!! Our room had a warm, up north feel to it with knotty pine ceiling and wall. The only thing that I could say negative was the wifi was spotty. But who needs wifi when you have so much else! Disconnect from the world and enjoy nature!

We checked in on a Friday and the next morning the owner told us to keep our kids quiet because someone complained they were jumping on beds and screaming which is absolutely not true. This place is creepy quiet the walls are paper thin. You basically have to whisper when you speak so try doing that with kids. It’s ridiculous I would never stay here only because it’s like your staying at a library.

- MNsledderguy (10/5): - This is an older lakeside resort lodge that's operated like a hotel by a very nice and friendly young couple. Don't expect a fitness center or pool, like mainstream hotels, but they have a well-stocked breakfast nook that was a pleasant surprise. The room was clean and comfortable, but the walls are a little thin. We had neighbors that rise very early and we could hear them talking and laughing before 4:30 a.m.! We stayed there on a snowmobile trip, and the hosts were very accommodating. There was plenty of room to park the truck and trailer, and the trail goes right through the resort. Really great riding is available right out the door, with access to hundreds of miles of groomed trails. The location is also a bit remote, so even though you're only a couple miles off the interstate, or feels like you're very secluded. Deer are everywhere, and you're likely to meet them on your walk to your vehicle in the morning. There were bald eagles flying around as well. Truly a hidden gem! Definitely going to stay at Hanging Horn Lakeside Resort again.

First impression when we entered the room, “Oh Wow!” and that was in the winter. Rooms are exceptionally clean, quiet, and updated. Very comfortable. Breakfast was continental style with a variety provided. Went away starting our day with a full tummy. Nothing fancy, but certainly satisfied our needs. The owners are very accommodating and try hard to please. Our stay exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend giving them a try.

- Dave (10/5): Minnesota Nice! Exceptional hosts and room! - This place was perhaps the cleanest and coziest place my wife and I have stayed at for several years! The resort used to be a camp and was situated on the shore of a quiet, beautiful lake with woods. The care and customer service that Charlie& Emily (owners), and Leslie gave my wife and I embodied the ultimate in Minnesota Hospitality and customer service. My wife and I had traveled 11 hours from Michigan. We were scheduled to attend and lead a funeral service for my family. Our car broke down (CV joint/axle) just 1.5 hours before we were to drive an hour away to the funeral on Saturday morning. Then Charlie came to the rescue! He not only loaned us his personal car but arranged for our broken vehicle to get towed by Terry to a local and generous mechanic who opened his shop on a Saturday afternoon and fixed our front end problem that very afternoon while we were at the funeral - at less than 1/2 the price our Michigan mechanic would have charged! We were speechless…and humbled…We returned to the resort after the funeral and our car was sitting next to the lodge - fully repaired and ready to go! But it was late...Charlie and Emily gave us a room for the next night at a reduced rate! At first, the plan was going to be staying until Monday, and wait till a mechanic could get the car in, and miss a day of work. Sunday morning we were happily on our way to Michigan and arrived safely back home Sunday night! Charlie, Terry, and Fred were amazing humans and blessed us immensely!
