Guest Reviews
- DANIEL (8/5): Cuartos amplios - Todo bien
- Lisa (4/5): - There was mold in our room, which made it difficult for me to breathe as I have asthma. We were supposed to stay three nights, but ended up having to leave as I couldn’t breathe properly. showed pictures to the front desk and tried to get a refund of the one night, but unfortunately was not able to. Expedia also tried for me to no avail.
- Maria (8/5): - It was quiet and yet in the middle of a busy walkable area. Great breakfast. Great wifi reception. Beautiful gardens. Ask them to help you understand how to control the shower temperature.
- Lesbia (2/5): La peor experiencia.
- Charon (6/5): - Property is outdated, but has pretty gardens and green areas. But it definitely needs to be remodeling! Staff was very nice and very helpful.
- Juana (4/5): - It’s old and dirty!
- Sam (6/5): - Rooms dated, good breakfast.
- Karla (8/5): - Very quiet place and staff was friendly
- Olivia (10/5): - The hotel and restaurant are incredible! The staff and service are impeccable. Super close to the port, the shopping street, and incredible restaurants. 10/10 would recommend.
- RIGOBERTO (8/5): Recomendado - Recomendado. Bien ubicado. Agradable y tranquilo.
- Terry (8/5): - This hotel is a quiet, secluded garden in a busy little town, staffed by sunny, helpful people, and offering an excellent breakfast for the start of your day.
- Mike (10/5): - All was fine, needs an option for a hair dryer and a kettle in the room. There was no mini fridge. Receptionist and breakfast where excellent.
- stacy (10/5): - Lovely place, the breakfast was excellent, friendly personable staff
Ruidoso, deteriorado y sucio. E personal bien y los desayunos bien.
- Ingrid (8/5): - I liked, nice friendly close to stores restaurants and Lake the only issue was the hot water not working at 💯 % breakfast was delicious very nice experience, thanks
- Marc (8/5): - Affordable and close to restaurants. It served my purpose well
- Roberto (10/5): - GREAT SERVICE!!
- Douglas (8/5): Fine... - I was staying here as a single person, staff was fine, only one person spoke English! Facilities are a bit tired and outdated but we’re fine for me, my girlfriend would not stay there but lucky she in Canada!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Hotellet ligger centralt, noget slidt hotel, venligt personale.
Hyggelig have. Restaurant??
Takk for meg. Value for money!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice Hotel
- Ellen (8/5): Nice - Garden was beautuful
- Ellen (8/5): Great location. Quiet. Safe. - The grounds are very nice and perfect for outdoor gathering or resting. Room was small but comfortable and clean. Our Guatemalan family was very comfortable staying there. Great proximity to shopping on Calle Santander. Quiet. Felt very safe.
- Benoit (8/5): Good not Grand - Great location, good for parking, upgraded us for free. Use to be a grand hotel, not so grand anymore but still has charming gardens and peaceful rooms. Breakfast was very average, there isn’t much of a pool.
- Kristin (8/5): Comfortable hotel with beautiful gardens - We were a bit alarmed by the street view of the hotel but once inside there are beautiful gardens and comfortable rooms.
- ChristianMom (10/5): We stayed one night around June 25th of this year! - when we got to the Hotel, the front desk lady was pretty pleasant and nice, and she offered me to upgrade our room to a better one, for free, the place was magical, I really loved the hotel and I would definitely want to go back!
- Allan (10/5): Nice Hotel - Good service, nice courtyard, comfortable beds, helpful staff.
- El Mono (10/5): excellent - great staff at hotel smiling and polite, upgraded for free, very clean, quiet and comfortable room set on lovely gardens. Nice swimming pool a bonus. All local amenities a short walk away would definitely stay again. thanks
- SJ (8/5): Nice hotel on an economic budget - The hotel has a big name and an ugly entrance. However, if you pass the little office, you are in a beautiful, Spanish style garden, with colorful flowers. The street noise is suddenly silent and we can enjoy a nice evening chatting with our friends around the fountain. The rooms are quiet, comfortable and clean, and staff is helpful. The hotel is close to the main street, which goes to the lake. If you do not want to spend a lot of money in hotels, while visiting Panajachel, the Grand Hotel is a great choice.
- Bambi (2/5): Terrible location, rooms in need of facelift stat. - I travel to Guatemala often (I own a travel company) and this was for sure the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. The pictures online are very deceiving. Terrible location. At check in we were upgraded to a better room because the one we were supposed to stay in was "noisy". The room was awful - mold everywhere, threadbare sheets, electrical wires taped together, no screens on the windows, no A/C (it wouldn't have been a problem if we thought opening the windows would be safe but the location is definitely not an area where leaving windows open would be a good idea), the wifi (which is guaranteed) never worked in our room! I went to the front desk 4 times the first night to try to get a better connection (I had clients traveling and it was essential that I stay in touch) to no avail. I ended up having to sit outside our room to connect to the wifi. The next morning we talked to the manager again and he agreed to move us to a nicer room - no it was not! Bigger but definitely not "nicer". The owner was a nice person but the hotel needs a facelift, desperately - and the wifi is not useable in most areas of the hotel. I told them we had to leave. The owner promised me that he would ask Orbitz to refund my payment (I had booked for a week). He seemed honest and I trusted him. I left, booked another room for the same price in a better area and now they've denied my refund. I was a sucker. I have never made a worse decision booking a hotel. Do yourself a favor, don't stay here.
- Michael (8/5): Great hotel for the price - Excellent hotel. Plenty of parking. Walking distance to lake and many excellent restaurants. The rooms didn't feel extremely clean.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great Guatemalan hotel - Nice rooms, beautiful grounds, clean pool (not heated), and nice tipico breakfast.
- callie (8/5): Great staff, facilities a bit outdated - Staff were very helpful, allowed up to check in early, and upgraded our room into the more quiet courtyard.
Room was clean and as advertised.
Pool unfortunately was not full or running.
- Janet (6/5): Far from the Lake about 20 minutes walking. - It is a OK hotel just to spend a night.
Good price , costumer service was nice.
- Aaron (8/5): Great value hotel - My family (2 kids + 2 adults) stayed at the Grand Hotel for 4 nights this past week. We chose this hotel because it was one of the few value properties with a pool. The hotel itself is located on a busy street, however, the rooms at the back of the expansive property are quiet and among lovely gardens and lots of birds. The pool is clean and the kids used it most days. Additionally, they have 5-6 different free wi-fi networks to choose from, and all work great! We found the staff and the owner to be extremely helpful, giving us guidance on how to avoid what can seem to be chaos at the boat launches, and avoid paying the tourist costs for taxis and tuk-tuks. When you travel to Guatemala we all need to remember that the little things like hot water on demand (it takes a minute to warm up here), room service, and plush oversized pillows are not always easy to find, at least without paying through the roof. This place is safe, clean, convenient, and happy to see you.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Vacation - It is a basic hote. Rooms are comfortable and spacious. Staff is so friendly. Breakfast was a basic Guatemalan breakfast. Overall it was a nice stay
- Rick (6/5): Beautiful grounds - Beautiful grounds. Gave us a free room upgrade away from street noise.
- rosa maria (8/5): great location - great location near restaurants and bars
- Steve (10/5): Great place to visit atitlan - Stayed for a couple of days with my friends and the hotel was a nice surprice. Great location and the hotel staff was amazing all the time. I'll definitively come back. Thanks for everything!
Steve
- Verified traveler (2/5): Don't bother. - Needed a place to stay after a very long drive to get to the Lake. This was the only place that came up. It is not to American standards to say the least. Moldy shower, dirty mattresses with only a sheet, no mattress pad. Very gritty. More like a truck stop rest area and less of a hotel. If it weren't so late in the evening would of opted to drive the 3.5 hours back.
