Guest Reviews
- Melinda (5/5): It was fine. - Bed frame was squeaky every time you slightly move. Curtain didnt totally close.
- Brittany (2/5): We won’t be staying here again. - It was close to the theme park and that was it. When we arrived and got our room as soon as we stepped in the floor was so sticky. Your shoes would almost stick to it. The dispensers for all the soaps were completely out, shower curtain was moldy. The tub and sink both had cracks in them. The toilet was just running water inside the bowl nonstop so I could hardly sleep.
- Arthur (9/5): - That the property was quiet and room was clean Wifi was off and on
- Ronnie (1/5): -
- Denis (7/5): Pour une nuit ça va! - Emplacement, propreté Lit moins confortable, équipement désuet surtout la robinetterie. Aucun déjeuner. Prix un peu élevé pour l’ensemble
- Ashley (1/5): -
- Tina L (9/5): Clean and good value - The cleanliness and value for the cost. Motel staff was friendly and very helpful. Nothing - everything was good.
- christine (9/5): Great place; would stay here again - Clean
Comfortable
Staff friendly, accommodating

- Ulises (3/5): Cleaning people was not good.sketchy place - Close to my job Staff
- Jesse (8/5): - Location. Can walk right over to Kings Dominion. Front desk was very helpful when I wanted to cut my stay a day short. The shower. Spout would still run while taking a shower.
- John (7/5): Good room for a one-night stay, excellent Mexican restaurant within walking distance was a big bonus - Perfect for a one-night stay for a road trip along I-95. Excellent Mexican restaurant located walking distance from my room. Carrying all my luggage to the 2nd floor.
- makain56 (9/5): Better than expected. I would definitely stay here again on my next trip. - Clean, good location, comfy beds, wifi, coffee pot, fridge and microwave - and plenty of towels! I think floors needed to be washed but apart from that, it was a lot better than expected.
- venkata srinivasarao (2/5): -
- Lahari (6/5): Good if you're not picky. - The location is excellent if you are going to Kings Dominion. The beds are also comfortable and the room was quite spacious. There is also a pool in the courtyard shared with the Days Inn. The kitchenette in our room was also great. Our remote was not connected to our TV so we couldn't turn it on and maintenance couldn't fix it before we left. The water machine in the lobby did not work so we had to get ice from the ice machine and melt it. The vending machines in the building were all out of stock and looked like they'd been that way for months. Also, a lot of bugs in the room!
- Matt (7/5): -
- Wilberta (7/5): -
- Jimmie (2/5): Near again - The pool Just don't everything
- Michael (7/5): Good value for quick stay. - Clean, location right by highway. Older, limited restaurants near by.
- Heidi (8/5): - We liked how close we were to Kings Dominion and didn’t have to travel a distance to get back to our room.
- Enio (8/5): -
- Patrick (9/5): Easy access, clean, frien at night - Friendly staff…CLEAN Needs more outside trash cans
- Beasley wary (10/5): - Being next to Kings Dominion Nothing really
- Julie (10/5): -
- Dean (10/5): Enjoyed my stay - Perfect location for our stay
- Burton (8/5): -
- Maria (10/5): -
- Christopher (10/5): Very pleased with our stay. - Location, price, very clean
- Totty (1/5): DIRTY - The location was great!! The fact that we were given a room that had not been cleaned was bad enough but then the "clean" room they switched us to wasn't much better!! Hair in the tub there were dead roaches that looked like someone stepped on them and just left them in plain sight. The hotel is nowhere near clean!!
- Billie (7/5): Red Roof - Doswell - Spacious room with kitchenette (best part is the apartment sized fridge). Request for rollaway (great size) was graciously accommodated and waiting in room upon arrival. Convenient location to State Fairgrounds. Water pressure in shower could be better. Water temp in shower was inconsistent and would quickly change from too hot to cold. Several electrical outlets need replaced as items needing plugged in were not secure and would fall out, especially in the bathroom. Parking spaces in front of walkways that go from parking lot to sidewalk need to be "no parking" as it makes it difficult to access the sidewalk when cars pull up close or you are carrying luggage in. Mattresses were not comfortable.
- Ilya (10/5): - Great rooms
- Keena (6/5): What you would expect from a Red Roof Inn - It was within walking distance of Kings Dominion which saved a $30 parking fee. Beds were comfortable. Good water pressure and water was hot. Plenty of free parking. We felt safe walking to and from Kings Dominion and to and from the amazing Mexican restaurant. I liked that there was flooring instead of carpet. Room smelled of smoke not because anyone smoked in room but because smokers stood outside of their rooms, right under window, and smoked. Even cigarette butts had been left there. There needs to be a smoking area away from the rooms like many hotels and motels now have. Bathroom definitely needs a remodel. It was clean but super old and tiny. Room itself could have used a better scrub down as far as walls, furniture. (Bed linens were perfectly cleaned, however.
- CHRISTINA (8/5): -
- Kenneth (10/5): - Room was nice and clean. Everything was nice
- John (10/5): - Excellent updated room.
- Rebecca (6/5): My review - It was ok for the price and a short stay but the floors were a bit dirty. Lady that checked us in was very nice. Could use more channels on the tv. There were only 5 or 6. The shower had good water pressure. The refrigerator needs help. Terrible to try to open and close the door on it. Bed ok. The Mexican restaurant next door was ok but the salsa that comes with the chips could be a lot better. The beer was cold. The server had a hard time understanding English it seemed. There is nowhere much to eat breakfast or dinner in that area outside of kings dominion. We found ourselves going to Ashland for meals.
- Carol (8/5): - Needs updated but for just an overnight stay it did its job
- Megan (8/5): -
- Karen (8/5): - Better than expected. Awesome check in!!!
- Michael (6/5): Location isn’t everything - As close as you can get to Kings Dominion. But the motel style rooms let a lot of flies in. The bathroom is in disrepair and the soap dispensers were difficult to get any liquid out of. The beds were not very comfortable, not enough pillows, and the ac was quite loud.
- Evatta (8/5): -
- deborah (10/5): - The location was good. It was quiet enough, clean enough, friendly and definitely plenty cheap. I would definitely stay here again.
- Wilbert (2/5): -
- Lea (10/5): - Wish there was breakfast
- Barbara (8/5): - It was close to all areas that I needed to go & room was clean and neat.
Outlet to the hairdryer would not work, but it was fastened to the wall so you couldn't use it. Parking was out front and room was not easy to get to with everything you needed to bring in.
- Joseph (2/5): - The rooms appear to be decent but the tv was broken, air conditioning was warm, and we found hair in our bedding.
- Mauricio (8/5): - Although we requested
- P. (8/5): - Convient stay while attending Kings Dominion. The Mexican Restaurant was on point and definitely recommend. The tiolet stopped up the last night. We had combining rooms. The paint was peeling extremely. The beds were not so comfortable.
- KAVIA (6/5): Just one night - Perfect for one night!
- Michael B.. (8/5): -
- Shiloh (4/5): - Had to change rooms due to very strong cigarette smell in first room. Second room was much better, but still had similar smell. All rooms were supposedly non-smoking.
- Timothy (9/5): -
- Eric (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very pleased! - We always have a great day at the Red Roof Inn Doswell/Kings Dominion. The outlet in the bathroom did not work but there was one right outside the door next to the Mirror. Other than that we had an awesome stay.
- Eric (10/5): - Will stay agian
- servio tulio (10/5): Hotel com boas instalações e ao lado do parque - Quarto novo, limpo , banheiro otimo e super bem localizado. Ainda mais porque eu fui visitar o kings dominion e o busch gardens.
Gostei muito do hotel. Nada . Foi tudo muito bem.
- Tom (6/5): - cheap but needs a refurbish
- Angi (6/5): - The bed was horrible to sleep on, felt like springs were sticking in my back no matter where on the bed a laid.
- Joshua (10/5): Will stay again. - The staff was helpful. They moved us to another room when our first room was messed up and the a c didn't work.
After we left the first time I then lost my phone in King's Dominion, they helped me out by lowering the price a little bit because I had to stay another night. To retrieve my phone in the morning. They're good people.
We'll be staying again in the near future. The shower is nothing to write home about.
And sometimes the TV remote, there was no signal, or it didn't work at all. Only 2 pillows per bed, I have a bad leg. So I have to prop my leg up at night. I couldn't do that. There's only 2 pillows.
But they were busy. I understand.
- Matthew (1/5): -
- Jeffrey (6/5): - Large bed and room. Tiny room with toilet and bath. One mexican restaurant which is pretty good. Nice courtyard with po
- Louis (10/5): - This is perfect for trips to Kings Dominion. Convenient and clean.
- Ashley (2/5): - I ended up getting bit by bed bugs. Wanted my money back but instead they wanted me to change rooms
- Ashley (2/5): Do not recommend - This place was absolutely disgusting. The rooms have black mold on the ceiling from water leaks, the room barely cools because the wall unit air conditioner is so old, the bath tub has sediment stains, the toilet ran nonstop and was barely attached to the wall (so it tilted forward with a loud bang every time you sat on it), there was LITERALLY a giant spider/web stemming from the bed to the night stand, just a hotel in desperate need of remodeling. I would highly recommend against staying here.
- Devlin (6/5): - Cheap, convenient, but housekeeping did not clean out refrigerator from previous guest, Dish tv was not working and AC was not turned on when we entered, took about 5hrs to cool off.
- Kenea (4/5): Pick someplace else. - The room appears clean upon first arriving. Quickly found dirty socks left from a previous guest. They weee in plain sight so there is no way they could have been overlooked from the cleaning staff. The cable was pit for the duration of our stay. Not weather related.
- Joaquin (8/5): Very good - Close to the park N/a
- Dick (8/5): Clean and friendly. Good for travelling with car - Clean and friendly
- Victoria (10/5): Convenient stay with a comfortable bed - The hotel was very clean and really convenient for going to Kings Dominion. The only issue was with the Wi-Fi connection. It was occasionally intermittent which caused issues getting work done on Monday. I was here for a work event and an employee appreciation party at Kings Dominion. All of the individuals at the hotel were extremely friendly and informative. If you're going to Kings Dominion it's definitely worth a stay.
- Robert (10/5): - Clean and close to Kings Dominion.
- Tyson (1/5): - Location next to Kings Dominion and Mexican restaurant both very convenient.
Area reasonably quiet, especially considering it is right next to Kings Dominion.
Place is probably fine for a solo overnight stay if you're just looking for a bed to sleep on. I would not necessarily recommend bringing your family unless they are used to "roughing it." It has been several months since I stayed here prior to this most recent stay (I had good enough experiences before).
I brought my family this time - it did not go well. Room was very unclean (stains or worse on the bed sheets, a lot of hair on the floor - bathroom and otherwise, possible blood stains on the shower curtain, musty smell in general to the room).
Parking lot had a fair amount of trash, empty beer cans, litter spread throughout (though I blame the people who stay there more than the hotel for that one).
Vending machines were all mostly empty.
Wife ended up sleeping in the vehicle (so that did not go over well).
To be fair, I did not bring my concerns to the attention of the staff to even try rectifying it (though I'm not sure there is much that could have been done).
- Ronald (6/5): - No elevator
- Robert (10/5): Good stay - Small but comfortable room. The bed was comfortable, which I can't often say at hotels in general. The facility is old but has clearly had some renovation in the room, such as new floors. Still, there was a little peeling on the walls and things like that.
All in all though, a very pleasant and comfortable stay.
- DELORES (10/5): -
- Eva (10/5): - Close to kings Dominion parking Lot
- jacqueline (10/5): - The staff is amazing you cant beat staying here if your going to kd you dont have to worry about parking. The pool is very clean and the restaurant.is slammin one of the best places ive eaten in a while , services is excellent and the mixed drinks are huge!! Nothing
- AvaRee (10/5): Nice clean cool rooms - The swimming pool Dog poop on grass everywhere
- Trina (6/5): Okay for the price - The room was okay for the price. Wasn’t the cleanest, and the beds were comfortable. Depending on the time of day and if other people and other rooms were using the shower, depended on if you were able to have hot water or not. Late in the afternoon/evening there was no hot water.
- April (10/5): - We’re always very happy with our visits to Red Roof Inn!
- heather (8/5): - Close to park
- Allen (10/5): Rooms were spacious, very clean, comfortable comfortable staff was very kind very professional specially Tiffany and Amy - Room was large comfortable beds walking distance to King dominium Mexican restaurant delicious food right on the grounds. Staff was fabulous professional very kind. Very nice. There is also a small pool. Nothing
- Tania (10/5): - Friendly, accommodating
- Causey (10/5): A great location for a clean, comfortable room. Not fancy, but just what we needed. - Mexican restaurant on site is amazing with a very lively and kind staff. Desk attendants always pleasant. Not fancy, but clean and safe.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Stay Here For Kings Dominion - Odd smell to the room. Front lobby attendant was very attentive and addressed our concerns. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom could have been cleaner. Overall room appeared to be clean. Location was great! Directly across from Kings Dominion.
- Jamie (10/5): -

- Xavier (2/5): - Stay was great until the end. At the end my wife and I woke up to having no outlets and our phones dead. Tried calling the front desk to try and get this fixed little did I know my room phone did not work. I walked to the front desk in the pouring rain, again because the phones did not work. I was able to speak to a front desk representative named Emy who was to the most least of help. She stated she needed to see if it worked and then came to my room and worked her way in to check and proceeded to yell at my wife and I because we wanted it fixed and to speak with a manager. Emy proceeded to be rude throughout the process until checkout time.
- Howard (7/5): -
- Keke (8/5): Pros and Cons - The hotel was convenient to king's dominion. The property was well lit on the outside. There's a restaurant within walking distance from the hotel, which is a plus. The bathrooms need to be updated. The joining room door paint was coming off the doors. There was hair in the shower. As well as minor details that needed attention.
- elaine (8/5): Enjoyed my trip Location was quiet - There was no breakfast at this location. We did 2 days at kings dominion and the location was the perfect spot. I have no complaints
- Katherine (10/5): Best Red Roof Inn EVER! - Nicest Red Roof Inn I've ever been to. SO clean, well-lit, easy check-in and out, and my puppy stayed free! Only issue was that the air conditioning apparently let a lot of humidity in, because every morning I woke up with my hair glued to my head. LOL! Small price to pay for such a wonderful visit. Perfect location, perfect accommodation. I will be back in November for more dog shows!
- Lisa (8/5): - I stayed here for 1 night with my granddaughters for a day at Kings Dominion. It was a perfect location, clean and safe. It looks like they take care of the property. I was pleasantly surprised and I would stay again if I was going to Kings Dominion.
- Phoenix (7/5): The property was a decent option for a stay when budget is a major concern, the room was clean and comfortable with few - It was very convenient to access the park and was an inexpensive lodging option and my emotional support animal was welcomed with no issues.
- Melissa M (10/5): Great location! - Great location for visiting Kings Dominion.
- Jennifer (4/5): Horrible toilets - The staff was helpful and fast to address an issue I had with the TV There were beetles in the room and it took 4 tries to get the toilet to go down every single time (NO it wasn't clogged, just very weak water flow
- AvaRee (7/5): will return to visit in near future - Very clean Room very pleasant Staff too many Dogs pooping all over the grass areas
- Pries (5/5): -
- Mitchell (2/5): - Arrived at 9:30 AM from a 9 hour drive. Asked the counter worker about possible early check in. He informed me the room was not ready, and was really intrigued if I was going to Kings Dominion. Turns out there was a water main break THE DAY BEFORE. This guy knew two things, he knew the water was contaminated and he knew Kings Dominion would be closed all day. He never divulged that information. They put one single sign up in the lobby at the request of the water commissioner, none on doors of the units, none on the ice machine, none on the water fountain. Don’t stay here
- Scott (4/5): - The outside or the building looks very worn out, there was mud and dirt all over the walkways and stairs. Plus the stairs were wood and look very worn out.
Some of the rooms had inside chairs sitting outside, very tacky.
The worst part is about 11:30 at night and the water in the room stopped working I called the front desk and they said they were working on it. I went to bed the next morning I woke up and the water was running again but it came out with a lot of air so thank goodness I chose to brush my teeth with a bottle of water but I did shower unfortunately. I left the hotel and went across the street to a convenience store to get some ice for my cooler and saw a sign on their door that a water main had broken and there was a boil advisory. So it's absolutely disgusting that the hotel did not warn their guests not to drink or use that water My plan on contacting the department of health
