Guest Reviews
- Katherine (10/5): - Todo estuvo muy bien, limpio y confortable.
- Luis Jose (10/5): - Todo Muy Bien
- Diane Lynn (8/5): - The water stuck on. They moved me to new room right away. Empanadas right across the street. Very convenient. A little loud. Great tv. Would recommend.
- Andreas (4/5): I just want the basics ammeneties - It was the 3rd room they gave me that had, working shower (barely), wifi and air-conditioning. Just a bit annoying to spend time switching rooms
- Leo (8/5): - Lack of amenities - 1 towel per person per day is inadequate.
- Fernando (6/5): - The staff and service was ok, I don’t like the rooms and the location
- Mariana (6/5): - The room was spacious. It was very difficult to set the shower temperature. Without luggage, you can easily walk to the port and a few other places.
- Nicol (10/5): - Ninguno
- Leanne (8/5): Good for the price - Basic hotel, fine for 1-2 nights. Out of the tourist strip but in a good area for street food, markets & local shops. Bonus it had a lift which many hotels in the Galapagos didn’t seem to have, also free drinking water.
- Patricia (6/5): - When we arrived they did not have the room we had booked, we had to take a smaller room. Two days without water to shower and 4 days without hot water. One morning there was no breakfast because there was a power outage. They do not offer toiletries, and towels were often missing after cleaning. They also do not have laundry service at the hotel. Breakfast and airconditioning were good.
- JosieH8 (8/5): Good Hotel, unsure about value for moeny - Good location of the hotel. The beds were very comfortable. The room was a good size. We were at the hotel as part of a tour so can not comment on value for money. The breakfast was simple but good and the restaurant on the top floor provided great views. The shower was pretty awful and is the main thing that needs to be sorted as the temperature and pressure kept changing.
- LuvtoTravel19 (6/5): Average accommodations with large rooms. - We were traveling on a group school tour. The room we had for the 2 of us had 4 beds ( 1 double and 3 single). Room was large with basic furniture. Water flow was poor and shower was cold. Located about 7 blocks from the main port, store and restaurant area.
- regis (10/5): - Suprise by quality/price.front desk Denise very helpfulll
- Charlotte (4/5): - Listen to the other reviews. I ignored them, and had a very uncomfortable night. Luckily I was only staying for one night before going to the airport, but if I were staying here for my vacation I would be very sad. Pros: The people working were so friendly. I loved the cooked to order breakfast. Cons: Rooms feel like a jail cell. No towels or toilet paper?? Light shines into the room until 2:30am, no blackout curtains. Rooster started crowing at 3:30am and didn't stop. Got bit by something (I looked everywhere for bedbugs and couldn't find them) that left blood on the sheet. Overall was not worth the price.
- William (10/5): - Very clean and close to the harbor.
- Eirik (8/5): - God service. Bra frokost med fantastisk utsikt.
Komfortabel seng. Heis
- kricket56 (6/5): Rating based mostly on my specific room - My sister and I stayed at Hotel Brisas Del Pacifico. The hotel was basic, but acceptable, it had AC and an elevator, no breakfast or pool. It's a short, pleasant walk to the main drag and the water. We both got rooms with king sized beds. There were no exterior windows in either of our rooms. One faced the hallway and the other faced a wall. We only got a sliver of light in the morning because we were on the 2nd floor - room 5. The 3rd floor room had a bigger sliver of light - room 11. I'm not sure if they have king sized rooms with windows with any semblance of a view, I should have asked. It was clean and basic, but you should bring your own toiletries, there was minimal soap and I'm not sure if it's because the island is environmentally conscious or not - most places had the bulk toiletries. The internet was minimal and only available in the common areas. I didn't even have cell service in my room - because it was an interior room. Cell service on the entire island is spotty, so this isn't really a complaint, just a note to be aware of. The hotel is located just across from the town market, don't miss the empanadas in the evenings!
- Digna (4/5): - You have to ask for towels. Difficult to shower with extremely hot water and almost no cold water to warm it. Night Reception person with no customer service at all.
- Victoria (10/5): - I really like the space and attentiveness of staff when asking them questions Denise was very helpful and friendly also knowledge about the area. THANK YOU !
- Carolina (10/5): Ótimo - Ligar tranquilo. Bem localizado. Recepção extremamente gentil, educado e atencioso. Super recomendo
- mentzelia (6/5): Great view from the top - The building is farther from the waterfront (just a block off Ave Baltra then seven blocks to Academy Bay) than other places I’ve stayed while in Puerto Ayora. For an overnight stay, the room was plain, yet comfortable. I was most impressed by the dawn view of town during breakfast on the top floor. Some guests may be pleasantly surprised to learn the building has an elevator.
- ??? (10/5): - Nice staff, good rooms
- Verified traveler (6/5): A nicer budget hotel. - The hotel is easy to find being a tall building visible from the main road. The beds were fine and the air conditioning worked quite well. The electric heating system for the showers works but takes some getting used to in terms of sound and temperature extremes. Breakfast was not a buffet but a small made to order plate of eggs and fruit with some meats and cheeses. They also had teas and coffee each morning. There was no safe in the room, but they said they had one at the front desk if I wanted to use it. Overall, checking in and out was easy, the room was relatively quiet besides the water heaters and thinner walls. I would say it is a good safe feeling budget offering.
- Brian (8/5): Home away from home - Helpful staff, clean property, delicious breakfast, and helpful booking tours.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice staff, good rooms, the beds are awesome. Good location. Totally worth every dollar
- CesarCoronado (8/5): - I like the cleanliness and the location, I didn't like the fact that the staff never smile
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The property is in front of the public market, you can eat local food for low cost
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I enjoyed that it was in the heart of the city, and only a few minutes from the port. The staff was both friendly and helpful. Directly across from the hotel was an open air market where you can buy fresh local produce and meals. Excellent customer service
- Hoerbel (10/5): Really good budget stay - Easily the best budget hotel of our journey. We mostely staied in hostals and lodges with private rooms and bath but this was the best in that category. It was quiet and well isolated (which is not standard in ecuador) and it was clean and had a good bed and shower. We paied 15$ a night!!! for a privat room with privat bath which not only for Galapagos is a real bargain.
The staff reacted promptly on our wishes and room preferences and were very friendly.
The hotel is a 10 min walk from the Malecon and Darwin area but on a quiet street a block away from the mainstreet.
- barbara_uNovaGorica (8/5): GOOD ENOUGH - Nice hotel with excellent location, just opposite the market. It's nothing special, but on the other hand is good enough even for a 3-4 days' stay. Rooms were clean, with functioning a/c and wifi. The only bad thing was basic breakfast. But one can survive.
- Georgi (8/5): - The hotel was located very well, just a few blocks from the main street. Many shops and restaurants nearby. The room was clean and bed comfortable. Loved the fast wi-fi.
- Teasdale-Utah (6/5): This is more like a hostal. It was clean and acceptable. - The staff were friendly and helpful. I just love the galapagos. This is a very basic hotel. The restaurant staff worked hard to make our family a basic breakfast. This place does not have an elevator. The staff will help you carry your luggage up the stairs.
- Jason (10/5): - One of the largest buildings in town so it is super easy to find your way back. The room was clean, had AC, and laundry service. I had great front desk service. A great basic room and a short walk to the main strip. I would definitely book here again.
- Georgi (8/5): - First room I've got had some problems (broken and noisy air-con) and I had to change it. The second room was OK. Got a nice big room with lots of amenities. Location was good within walking distance to most Puerto Ayora attractions. The deal was good, so I was happy with this hotel.
- Verified traveler (4/5):
- Deborah (4/5): - If you don't mind sharing your room with bugs, being awakened every morning by a rooster, and going without amenities such as soap and hot water, and trying to sleep with a light glaring through your window facing out to the interior hall (no blackout curtains either) this place is for you! We are not high-maintenance travelers (we go camping, not glamping) but we expected the basics. I was nearly in tears when we checked in after seeing the hotel and room because we were booked for 9 days and the hotel does not give refunds for cancellation. On the plus side, it was about a 15-minute walk to the main drag, most of the staff members were cordial, and we weren't in the room very much.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The property didn't feel safe.. like something you would see in a horror movie. The condition of the rooms and the building were awful. The surrounding neighborhood is a distance from the heart of town. Not comfortable at all. Really bad service. We checked out after the first night.
- Shauna (8/5): Nice staff and decent rooms - We had two rooms and needed to check in early. They helped us check into one room early, which was very convenient. The staff was very friendly and helpful but didn't speak too much English. Location is just a 10 minute walk from the main port and right across from a fruit and veggie market! Rooms were decent and for three of us and a baby, the other double bed was in a separate room.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Ok for the price - I stayed four nights here. Overall it was an adequate experience. I feel the pictures were a little over-representative of the real deal. The single room is small and the "window" was to the electrical corridor so no fresh air. I'm sure there were better rooms in the hotel. There's no in-room safe but there didn't seem to be a security problem. It's nice to have purified water available to refill your water bottle. The hot water was always available. The breakfast was adequate but the same thing every day with no alternate option. The coffee is horrible. In hindsight I wish I wouldn't have paid for the breakfast option ahead of time. The "restaurant" area was soooo hot it was almost unbearable. A fan would have helped. One day I had to go out twice just to get air. Laundry service was very efficient and very reasonable at $2.50 per kilo. In hindsight I wish I would have booked a place with a pool area or at least a balcony or a place to just hang out. The other thing to note is that it has to be about 10 blocks to the "town" and that walk got old pretty quick.
- CRSoyla (6/5): Ok for the price - I stayed four nights here. Overall it was a good experience. I feel the pictures were a little over-representative of the real deal. The single room is small and NO window or view. There's no in-room safe but there didn't seem to be a security problem. It's nice to have purified water available to refill your water bottle. My window-less room wasn't all that great. The other thing to note is that it has to be about 10 blocks to the "town".
- katrinajoy1 (6/5): Average hotel - PROS:
In general, it's a good hotel--aircon works (leaking at first but they fixed it), water dispensers on each floor, helpful staff, comfortable bed, spacious room with closet, hot shower.
CONS:
The walls are super thin, you can hear everything happening outside the room. People talking, children screaming, etc. If you are easily bothered by noise, I don't recommend this hotel. I had a room with no view. The location is across the municipal market, but 15-20 min walk from the town center, which is not too convenient. Located in a very safe island.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice hotel, nice location. Poor wifi. Everything else was good. Enjoyed it.
- Kate (8/5): Comfortable stay - Got to the hotel early and the staff let us in early. The reception staff are all multilingual which makes communicating easy. Bedroom was comfortable with two double beds. Room was clean. Bathroom smelt though and we couldn't get the smell to go away. That was something we weren't happy with. Breakfast was tasty. Overall it was a comfortable stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good value in Puerto Ayora - A very cost effective place to stay in Puerto Ayora with helpful staff.
- Michael (2/5): Staff was very rude and difficult to deal with - Locked out of hotel during the evening and locked in early morning when leaving. Forced to purchase additional room even though the two rooms had beds for at least 4 people. Wifi was non existent so don't plan to connect. TV was Spanish only. Staff was very rude? Would never recommend this place and would never stay there again
- angelmar_99 (8/5): Great Value, Great Location - Clean hotel, large rooms, hot water and great location. 15 min walk to port, 15 min walk to Turtle Bay beach Trail head/registration. The market is right in front and the lady street vendors have the best empanadas - seriously the best and $1. Also, down the block is a legit Cuban sandwich shop -Delish. It's close to their famous kiosk food street too. Staff was good, especially breakfast staff, they were able to accommodate our early pickup time and serve us, so kudos to them.
FYI - Hotel staff available in morning/afternoon only. The evening staff is basically just a body, no actual ability to serve. I asked for an extra towel, they said, sorry, you have to wait for the morning lady to arrive. SERIOUSLY a towel you can't get a towel??? I asked for laundry service, sorry don't know anything wait for lady to arrive tomorrow morning. Wha?? So would have been a 5/5 but that's why I took off a point.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good location - Staff were great, very helpful. The distance to and from the Port and main shopping areas was not far. The hotel faced a small market from where fruits and vegetables were sold during the days. At night, the market space was transformed into an area where you could sample freshly made local fare.
- E6510RVandyp (2/5): We were sent away! - I see many positive reviews, but sadly enough my review is far from positive!
We booked this place much in advance of our trip, so we did not need to worry about finding sleeping places during our vacation.
Upon arrival at the hotel we were told that something went wrong with our reservation/or payment... and got sent away.
Strange, since we did not receive any issue during booking this place or the days between booking and arrival (which were a lot).
After consulting our bank and Booking.com about this, there was no problem at all... everything was ok!
My meaning is that the room got double booked or we got cancelled for a customer with longer booking period or...
Whatever it is, we got sent away without further feedback and spent a lot of time, money and worries finding another sleeping place late at night.
My advice: this is not how your threat people! I'm sorry, whatever the reason is we should at least be informed in advance.
This hotel gets my reward for providing us with the only negative experience during our vacation on the Galapagos!
Regards,
Andy
- Andrea (8/5): - Muy bien
- 555felipev (8/5): Average hotel - I stayed 3 nights in this hotel after booking through a website. Room was nice and large. AC and Cable TV worked fine. There was a water fountain with cold and hot filtered water right outside my room. Breakfast was included and pretty good (eggs, juice, bread, fruit and coffee/tea).
CONS: location is not so nice, it is far from the touristic center of Puerto Ayora and it is located behind a busy and noisy market. The building is part hotel and part offices. Some rooms of the hotel have been transformed into offices for lawyers, doctors or even for a public dependance. Also, one day we did not have electricity for several hours and the hotel did not have an emergency power plant. Compared to other hotels or hostels of the same quality, this seemed more expensive. After the three days I moved to another hotel, cheaper and closer to the pier.
- I5685ZQdenisep (10/5): Big rooms - Extra large room for our family of Four. It's a bit of a walk from the Pier compared to other hotels, but it's a clean, moderately priced, comfortable hotel. Our suite had air conditioning in both rooms and working cable. Very pleased.
- Jennifer (10/5): Great location, cost, and comfort! - This hotel was affordable, comfortable, and spacious with a nice breakfast and wifi included. It was in walking distance of lots of restaurants, shops, and the malecon. I would stay here again if I were to stay in Puerto Ayora.
- Linda (2/5): Run don't walk away from this place! - Small rooms uncomfortable beds no amenities no glassware bath towels the size of wash cloths. Stay away! We stayed at better hotels on the island that were much more comfortable.
- sudlinc (10/5): Great Value - On June 16, I stayed at Hotel Brisas del Pacifico with a friend for 4 days.
The hotel was very clean, the room was spacious, with two beds, WIFI and AC. The hotel is well located, you can walk to the center for 10 minutes or you can take a taxi and be there in 5 minutes (and it cost $1).
The staff was very nice, they tried to help us and gave some tips about the tours in Galapagos and the usual cost of it.
The bad thing is they don't accept credit card, but this is something normal in Galapagos.
I will recommend this place!!!
- Leila (6/5): Great location, but need to stay more than 1 nt - Stayed here for just one night between arriving on Santa Cruz and ferry over to Isabela. Very spacious room, but the windows were a bit odd. Large window looked out onto...the wall of the adjacent building? The other looked out into the hall? So really, there was no need for windows as they provided zero additional natural light. The room was very clean and A/C was an icy-cold necessity!
They had water dispensers, which was nice to be able to fill up water bottle and location was close to the main drag Baltra Ave, so easy walk to docks.
I had to leave early the next day (6am) to walk to the docks for the morning ferry to Isabela, but the entire hotel was completely dark (had to use the flashlight on my phone) and there was no one at the reception desk. I had yell out until finally a guy came out of a room behind the desk. You are basically "locked in" the hotel as well as he had to unlock the doors to let me out...not sure how safe that is?
Not sure I would recommend for staying just one night, especially at the price point, but may be a good choice if staying a few days w/several people as the room was large, had a sofa and mini-fridge.
- lrahil313 (6/5): Great A/C & Location - Stayed here for just one night between arriving on Santa Cruz and ferry over to Isabela. Very spacious room, but the windows were a bit odd. - Verified traveler (4/5): OK hotel far from beach - Far from the port. Room did not have any windows, but the breakfast was decent.
- Alegria56 (8/5): Very good deal for the money - I am still here after almost a week. It's located about a 15 minute walk from where the action is, but for the money, it's worth it. The rooms are clean, beds are new and comfy, has good air conditioning, wifi (which is very slow, but I think that's true all over the island). Book for one night and then negotiate a better price for the rest of your stay. They have a good breakfast of toast, egg, coffee, juice, and a small slice of cheese and ham. The staff are very nice. They have a small garden area inside the hotel, and you can hang wet clothes off the lines on the roof, 4th floor, which by the way has a great view. Also has 32 inch flat screen TV with Spanish cable channels, and a large closet with plenty of storage room. You can keep your valuables in their safe box in the lobby. Oh, the hotel also has an elevator.
- travelwith3 (8/5): Good place to save money - This hotel was fine. Nothing extraordinary but for the price we were very pleased.
The positives: 1. the room was very large, plenty of room for the 4 of us
2. The staff is very nice and helpful (limited English, but it works out somehow), 3. the location is not far from the port (walkable), 4. market is right across the street and the empanadas there are fantastic and only $1!!!!! 5. housekeeping is wonderful and the room was kept meticulously clean.
The negatives: 1. The bathroom is ridiculously small and the toilet had issues often, 2. They do not provide you with real soap, only some electric blue liquid stuff, 3. they do not provide beach towels so if you take day trips you are towel-less, 4. the breakfast is less than thrilling, eggs and toast, which is fine but not exciting.(however, the lady who works in the kitchen is incredibly nice).
All in all, we would stay here again. Definitely worth it for the cost. Use the money you save by staying here for another boat trip!
- CSGary (8/5): We had a very nice stay at this hotel - The rooms are large and clean. The bathroom could use updating, but it was fine. The air conditioning worked very well! Breakfast was included and it was filling. The kitchen staff were accommodating. Convenient location. They gave us a great deal, which made it all worth it. This is a family-owned hotel. Nice people. English speaking.
- mikesY4553LR (8/5): Save $ - Staying at this hotel for a week. My room is small and very well done. It's super clean and room service comes every day, to keep it clean. I just walked in off the street to book a room and they gave me a price of $20 a day! It's a 10 to 15 minute walk to the waterfront. No breakfast, so I have to walk to find my morning coffee. For this kind of savings, well worth it!
