• 67davinac (8/5): Relaxing stay - The rooms are huge amd well appointed. We washed and dried all our clothes before returning home. Walked every morning, where you can see the sunrise, round the golf course seeing lots of different birds. Staff was polite, friendly and super helpful. Tevita, is the shuttlebus driver- excellent service you just tell him when and where to collect you and he does! Also right by Camana bay, Blackbeard’s liquor store and Foster’s supermarket.It’s not on 7 mile beach. But Tevita will take you there in a matter of five mins. We got a day resort pass at the Hampton Hilton and had lunch at Miss Piper’s which lived up to the rave reviews. The Driftwood bar does good solid food, great breakfasts and a range of cocktails. The sunloungers were never taken in advance, and you can get a trip to Stingray city off the jetty at the hotel.

Good restaurant and great boat activities staff on premises - Hotel is Holiday Inn actually - we specifically asked the agent not to book us at a Holiday Inn and they did. Since we stayed there here is an honest review. Arrived to the hotel, checked in and went to the room. It smelled like someone was smoking in there. Not the hotel fault but they should have addressed that before they put us there. We called the front desk and they moved us to a ground room next to a golf course net. Not ideal but did not smell like smoke. Restaurant 4/5 Hotel rooms 2/5 Beach 1/5 Dock 4/5 Sea life 4/5 Staff 4/5 Amenities 2/5 Boat activities staff 5/5 (Cpt Shaun was awesome) Convenience store 3/5 Pricing 2/5 (low value for money) Had to leave the hotel premises daily to have a good time. Would not recommend or stay here again.

• Sightseer538637 (10/5): Best place to Stay - Fantastic staff and service! Excellent clean rooms. The bar and grill serves hot and fresh food and drink. The location is easy to get to and from. This is my 3rd stay at this location. barbecue live music drink specials on Thursdays.

Suggest u rent a car (drive on left side) to have flexibility getting around cause everything is not within walking distance. 1.bedroom suites are nice w/full kitchen and some cooking utensils and plates/silverware. On-site restaurant is nice. Music Thursday and Saturday nights. Beach is rocky and not much sand. Gave excursions from property.

Unfortunately, my best friend had passed away a few days before so I really needed the break to take my mind off of things. As soon as I entered the lobby, I felt like I was in vacation mode. Everyone was so helpful and nice as usual.
• bibianneb2020 (10/5): Pleasant, convenient, shuttle is a huge bonus - We stayed here for four days as our base for exploring Grand Cayman before our dive trip on Little Cayman. Our room faced north-east which meant enjoying a beautiful view of the pool and of the ocean while sitting in the shade on our balcony. The room was clean, comfortable, quiet, spacious, with a microwave, fridge, toaster, etc. We met people who own timeshares at this resort. The pool and grounds are very pleasant and relaxing, except for the one day when they hosted a large crowd of cruise visitors at the pool. There's not much of a beach but you can snorkel from the pier - we could see starfish! The resort includes plenty of beach chairs, some shade, a huge pool, and someone on site to organize stingray tours (we didn't use them, but others did and were happy). All staff we dealt with were helpful and pleasant. The restaurant food was delicious but pricey (pricey is typical for Grand Cayman) , so we took advantage of the free shuttle to shop at Foster's: they have an amazing selection of pre-made food, buffet-style, sold by the pound. Taxis on the island are much more expensive than you'd expect (e.g. >$100 each way to the Botanic Park!). We considered renting a car, which is more economical, but driving on the left and all those traffic circles seemed a bit too daunting. So we really appreciated the free shuttle and made full use of it (make sure to reserve a seat in advance). The return trip is arranged with the driver - they're very accommodating. One day we took the shuttle to the bus depot and then rode the bus to the Botanic Park for a reasonable cost of $7 each.

• gm346 (10/5): A Hidden Gem in Grand Cayman - We are scuba divers and have traveled to Grand Cayan over 20 times. We have eaten at the Driftwood restaurant several times but have never stayed at the hotel. On our last visit to Grand Cayman and while dining at the Driftwood, we were offered a tour of the property. We found the hotel to be reasonably priced (given that Grand Cayman is somewhat expensive), and the facilities and rooms were very well maintained. The courtyard and grounds were beautiful, the pool was large, clean and surrounded by many lounge chairs and palm trees. Although we always rent a car, a free shuttle van is available for guests to travel the seven-mile beach corridor. The staff is super friendly and a special shout out to Renoir (front desk) and Gabriella (Driftwood). The Driftwood has an excellent, varied menu and there is live entertainment several nights during the week. The property is on the North Sound which means it is much quieter than seven-mile beach. We weren't big fans of the cruise ship day-passers that were there one day but it wasn't a big deal. They didn't overwhelm the property and were gone by 2 PM. Overall, we had an excellent experience and plan to return, possibly this Fall.

• Bharem (6/5): Disappointed - This maybe once was “a hidden gem”. But it no longer is. From the hallways to the rooms and from the pool to the beach facilities, it is dated. When checking in we asked for a room change (prefer not to be on the first floor) and were told that they were sold out. It was clear that they were not sold old. Hardly anyone here. The clock radio had static coming from it whenever it was plugged in. Not even turned on. When they replaced it, the replacement buzzed even louder. When looking out of our room there is a huge mesh net to prevent golf balls from flying through. It’s on the golf course. Not a problem except it has huge nasty holes in it and it isn’t staked down. Not pretty at all. It is not on 7 Mile beach so you need to use the shuttle or rent a car. Rent a car. The smartest decision we made. Yes, there are 10 speed bumps to get from the main road to the hotel. Also, be forewarned, we weren’t, Wednesday is Cruise Ship day. Our decision to stay by the pool to avoid the crowds proved fruitless. They brought them to the hotel in bus loads! We were looking for a reasonable rate, and we got it. But unfortunately it didn’t prove to be the hidden gem we were hoping for.

• jbar930 (10/5): Paradise! - Amazing resort - perfect for our family of four. We were looking for something not near the bigger resorts on SMB - it was quiet and relaxing. Pool was huge and super clean ( we noticed them cleaning and treating it about every other morning). We had the breakfast plan and it was SO GOOD! The Driftwood is great place for any meal or snack of the day, dining poolside and enjoying drinks was awesome. Plenty of space to relax either over on the pier listening to waves or reading / napping on one of many hammocks near the sea. We would go back here in a heartbeat! Everything else to do was less than a 10-15 minute drive. Great location!!!

• lauramD7872HZ (10/5): Fantastic Resort - My husband and I stayed at the Grand Caymanian resort from November 21 to the 25th 2025. It was a $40 taxi ride from the airport to the resort. Upon arrival, the reception area was bright, nice furnishings and nicely laid out. The representatives at check-in are very friendly and polite. There was a gift shop located within the lobby area that had a wide variety of souvenirs, snacks, beers, drinks, pretty well anything you wanted. They also had a heritage room that had pictures going back to the 1930s. The resort grounds were well maintained. Lots of greenery, beautiful flowers and sitting areas. We stayed in the two queen bed studio. It was very spacious and clean. It had a double sink, plenty of towels and products. The beds and pillows were very comfortable with white linens. The room was equipped with a kitchenette that had a coffee maker, microwave, mini fridge, plates, cutlery, paper towel and dish soap. The only thing it didn’t have was a stove top. Cleaning was available daily if you required. The Driftwood bar and grill overlooks the pool. It’s open for breakfast, lunch and dinner with a wide variety of food and drinks. The pool area was very large. It was clean and had plenty of sun loungers and towels. The beach area was small and rocky. There was one area that you could swim from the shore or you could swim off the pier that had a ladder. There’s a water sport hut right by the pool. We booked an excursion to Stingray City and the boat picked us up right from our pier. It was an amazing excursion to swim with the stingrays, hold and touch them. We also did some snorkelling. The resort offered a free shuttle that would take you within 5 km of the resort. We spent one day in Georgetown where we did some sightseeing, bought souvenirs and had lunch at an Italian restaurant. We took the shuttle to Foster’s, a grocery store where we bought some food which is on the expensive side. The shuttle went to 7 mile beach, which is only a few minutes away. The beach is a long stretch of white sand and crystal clear water. It was busy as many of the cruise ship passengers spend the day there. I’ve been too many resorts that have a lot of resort cats that look like they are starving and not cared for and it breaks your heart to see that when you’re on vacation. However, the resort cats here were spayed and neutered. They’ve had vaccinations. They were well taken care of. I didn’t even have to feed them. In summary I would recommend this resort to others and hopefully one day we will return again!

The location is a bit far from everything so renting a car is a good idea unless you want to hangout at the resort in the evenings. The free shuttle is fantastic but ends at 5pm. It's beautiful but the beach isn't sandy.

Musty hotel room, huge water stain on the kitchen ceiling, toilet barely flushed, paint flaked off the ceiling AC registers when the guns were adjusted, bath towels are not large and are grainier than 20-grit sandpaper, beach is small and water is very rocky, interior hallways of buildings are musty, elevators smell like oil and are slow, and literally half of the property is owned by Holiday Inn Resorts, which makes for a very cheap feel at this property. The pool water was extremely cloudy. All of the luggage follies had been left outside during a rain storm and we're basically useless leading up to checkout. Location - Jesus Christ - horrible. One must drive along a poorly maintained road with 10 speed bumps to get to this property - one way in, one way out. Absolute dog track of a property and I should dand my money back.

From the moment we arrived, Victoria went above and beyond to make us feel truly cared for—like we were part of her own family. It's not often you experience such sincere and exceptional customer service, and both she and Alejandro exceeded every expectation. They made our visit unforgettable.

• Companion799525 (8/5): Less expensive option, some of the amenities were really nice and a beautiful view. - Save your money from not over packing and staying here to rent a car instead! This was an interesting place. Kind of in the middle of nowhere (lots of speed bumps & canals to go around to get ANYWHERE). We had a one bedroom, one bathroom ocean view with a full kitchen, washer/dryer & balcony. Some things are a little dated inside and the pictures were hung really weird. But the staff was amazing and do a really good job. It's helpful they have a shuttle but it's limited. So just rent a car and you'll be loving it. The beach isn't really swimmable but there is an area to get in/out of the water. I snorkeled from the pier and got to see some fish and starfish. It has a great view and they do a good job of keeping up with the grounds. It just doesn't really have a nightlife if that's what you're looking for and it's hard to beat 7-mile beach! But a really good option if you are traveling with a family, need to save a little money, don't plan on being at the hotel much anyway...

The hot water in the shower worked for one day and remained cool for the remaining days. The kitchen was stocked with the cups, glasses, plates, and some cooking utensils. A wine opener, & can opener would have been nice to add.

Our anniversary was January 22 but due to my mother passing away on Jan 14th, we spent our anniversary preparing the house for family coming for the funeral and preparing for the funeral itself. We were so exhausted that we needed a respite so we had a staycation at Holiday Inn.

Beautiful pier with lots of starfish and fish viewing... snorkel right iff the end! O ly complaint... walls are thin can hear conversations in other rooms if your tv isnt on

Conveniently located next to North Sound Golf Course and the tour boat docks going to Stingray City. The hotel offers a nice beach with starfish, reef, and fish. It has a restaurant and bar. Suites come fully furnished including kitchens with stove, oven, refrigerator, washer and dryer for that extended stay.

We had a wonderful day in a beautiful place with manicured lawns and a lovely pool. There is beach access, but the beach is rocky, though the water is clear lunch was delicious, and Aida was an excellent server. We look forward to returning the next time we cruise here.

I also met a housekeeper that I knew from before: Sharon. My husband and I went to the restaurant and bar as well. We enjoyed our meals. The only issue that we had was the internet. A router is a simple thing to put in the dining/living room area so we can use the table to go on our computer. Also the t.v. gave some trouble as well.

You can rent one of the two courts for 40 KYD. When finished playing you get a coupon for 40 KYD at their restaurant, Driftwood Bar & Grill (which has excellent, friendly service in a relaxed atmosphere).
• Charles (10/5): A good hotel that could be great - The room was clean except for the floor. We asked several times to clean it better but we always felt dirt under our bare feet. We didn't even go to the beach as we went there mostly to shop and visit the restaurants. The coffee maker had 2 packs but no sugar or creamer. The food was good but took a while to come out. The bar needs a MUCH LARGER VARIETY of liquor and beer. Especially more bourbon and local beers.

Upon arrival, we were upgraded from a 1bd/1bath suite to an ocean-front suite with 2bd/2bath, full kitchen and wrap around balcony, as well as a $30 daily credit at the restaurant and bar. The resort was a quick 5-minute drive to 7-mile beach, and just across the street from our Stingray City excursion. The site was clean, beautiful and quiet during our weekend stay. Staff was amazing. Will definitely be returning ASAP!

• theresec860 (10/5): Affordable and Comfortable - We enjoyed our stay at the Grand Caymanian Holiday Inn. This was our first time not staying directly on Seven Mile Beach and we were not disappointed. We had a one bedroom suite with a full kitchen. The living area, the bedroom, and the bathroom were very spacious and comfortable. The balcony also had plenty of space. We had a washer and dryer in the unit, which was convenient. There was a restaurant and bar on the premises. We ate there a few times and liked our meals. They also had live music most nights. The pool area was never overcrowded and we were able to find chairs any time we wanted to sit by the pool. Although the waterfront property is not a swimming beach, the scenery is beautiful and the morning sunrise is a popular viewing activity. The hotel has a shuttle that will take you to nearby beaches and supermarkets, but we did not use it because we rented a car. We will definitely return again.

• 329bsj1969 (6/5): Staff great but disappointing in regard to location, beach, and dining. - The staff was so very helpful. Upon arrival our "oceanview" room was more golf course view. We asked to be moved and they were kind enough to do so. The grounds and landscaping were amazing.The disappointments came with the restaurant, the lack of beach area to go into the water and the overall location. We were on the wrong side of the island. The limited menu and quality of food was not good. The breakfast was ok but lunch and dinner were subpar. We wanted a lighter dinner and they said we could not order off the lunch menu. The shuttle service was nice to have but it was not available after 5:00pm so if you want to go to dinner or anywhere in the evening you had to get a taxi. The concierge in the lobby did not work for the hotel. The Monday we were there was her first day on the job and didn't have a clue to what she was doing. We got charged twice for a tour and still don't have that issue resolved after two weeks. So if location, dining, watching sunsets and beach are important to you, this is not where you want to be.

First timers to Cayman Island and I wish the hotel would have shared there is no sand beaches on their property. Black coral that is unwalkable. We had bugs in our room and they only cleaned our room once during our 7 day stay. Would never stay there again!!

Check in process was difficult bc they made several mistakes, moved us around 3 times and refused to at least give us a free upgrade. Food was decent, except their “fresh” catch of the day, which was wahoo, was stale.
• TrudyFRussell (6/5): Tolerable but falls short - In a country that is distinguished by its ability to provide luxury (anonymous banks, no property tax, no income tax, no inheritance tax) this hotel distinguishes itself from others by falling short. First, let me say, that the staff is very nice, and did what they could to be helpful and accommodating. They have been placed in a stranglehold by the managing company. All the little things that you expect from a resort are missing. First, the location. Billed as “adjacent to Seven- Mile Beach,” it is actually on the other side of the island from said beach, and basically a 2-mile walk from the Grand Caymanian. The hotel provides a free shuttle over to that beach, but it only runs on the hour, and you have to reserve a space. And it ceases to operate after the 5 PM bus. So if you do not have a rental car (expect to pay top dollar) or want to pay the exorbitant taxi prices on the island, you had better bring your running shoes. Now for the facility. There is only one restaurant that is moderately adequate, with prices of a more well-appointed one. The beach is small and mostly rocky with some sand added. The beach chairs have seen better days and if the hotel were fully booked, the number would be insufficient. The gift/incidentals shop is small and one pays for her purchase at the front desk. The pool towels are small for the purpose and not at all plush. The room: Ours had only one trash can that we had to move from the kitchenette to the bathroom. The clock radio had to be unplugged because it randomly made a buzzing/static sound and couldn’t be used. There was no paper or pen for writing info when booking reservations for outings or dinner. The bathroom floor stayed damp and slippery even when running the fan after showering. The faucet in one sink had a hot side with barely any flow and a cold side that gushed, sending water all over the countertop. In a room with two queen beds there was just one round table and one chair for sitting (though each bed did have its own nightstand). The very tiny closet had hanging space that was made tinier by the encroachment of the hanging space of the hot water apparatus. In short, if a deal sounds too good to be true, even if it is in the Caymans, I advise you to follow the old adage and spend a little more or don’t expect to get quite as much from your stay.
