Guest Reviews
- Christopher (8/5): Would consider staying here again - Room was spacious, I appreciate the fridge and microwave, the coffee. Everything was satisfactory. There was no hair conditioner in the bathroom when i arrived, just shampoo. I probably could've asked for some but at the time I presumed that that was all you provide.
- Luis Manuel (7/5): Good but no closets - Clean and nice location. The rooms have no closets or anything at all to hang one's clothes!
- David (10/5): -
- Victor (10/5): - Todo

- Jordan (10/5): -
- Perez Rodriguez (7/5): -
- Mateusz (1/5): -
- Linda (7/5): - The sheer curtains were torn. The door didn't fully sit and seal in the doorframe. There was a gap large enough to let light through and a small camera if one was so inclined.
- Holly (6/5): -
- Cordero (1/5): Bad - Nothing THE GUY ON 2ND SHIFT
- David (10/5): Everything I expected. Came, stayed and left. No issues. Great staff - Great location for our event. Very polite staff. Clean complex and clean rooms.
- Eugene (5/5): -
- Ignacio (9/5): -
- Showkat (5/5): - Location is for me. No breakfast
- Warlito (7/5): -
- Scalzitti (1/5): When there’s no option other than this place… sleep on your car. - The room was Terrible and dirty, the tv didn’t even face the bed, whole place smells like cigarettes people next to my room were incredibly loud and the lock on my door was broken. You get what you pay for…
- Giselle (8/5): I am so grateful for the young gentleman who assisted me with checking in since I lost my wallet. He was so friendly swe - This is always a quiet safe and functional and reliable place to stay. The staff is super friendly and nice. The staff was nice but I didn’t like how housekeeping tried to open my door before asking/knocking when I didn’t have an option for a do not disturb sign. I felt like they were a little premature with the trying to get in. But friendly when I let them know I didn’t need service. It was a little bit moldy.(even the sink water smelled and was brown when I initially turned the faucet on). The showers got hot but definitely the heads need to be de molded/cleaned. overall though it is kept a decent amount of clean
- Erica (6/5): -
- Jason (1/5): -
- Felix (6/5): Good but rooms need closets. - Excellent location. Comfortable, quiet room. Rooms have no closets or anything to hang clothes in. My room's showerhead had a leak. Nothing to put one's shampoo or soap in showers. Need to fix that.
- Fernando (9/5): Perfect for a short trip - The place was good, maybe a bit expensive, but overall, it was good
- Jon (6/5): - The hotel is ok. It worked for us. Clean
- Yesenia (10/5): -
- Miriam (10/5): - Good experience will come back again
- Adriano (1/5): -
- Sonia (8/5): -
- Paula (8/5): - Simply a place to stay - convenient location, easy parking, good value.
- Julianne (6/5): - Stay was okay for price, only issues I experienced were the flat pillows (definitely bring your own if you value comfort) and the distance from the L (a 2.5 mile hike).
- Lorrina (6/5): - Could use breakfast. Little cleaner
- Caitlin (2/5): - Inconvenience
- Elisabeth (8/5): - Ok
- Kyle (6/5): - It was ok. Just a little messy
- Nir (4/5): Not the best experience - Leaking toilet, broken window, poor selection of channels on tv, thin walls -you can hear what people are talking about in the near rooms... Not the best place to stay in even for low budget
- Delrico (6/5): - Good location because it isn't too far from downtown. I checked in with a kind gentleman but that's where the pleasantness ends. The room & staircase had a strange smell, I didn't trust the cleanliness of the bathroom or the bed (slept on top of the spread). As I attempted to check out around 5am, the representative must have thought I was a common loiterer and rudely dismissed me until I showed my keycard (I would have given this location another stay if not for this instance). I will find another location to use for my next visit to Chicago.
- Mike (8/5): - Exceeded my expectations
- Stefanie (8/5): - Good stay for the price
- Alicia (2/5): - Shops and dinning nearby.
- Michelle Anne (4/5): Wouldn't stay again - The shower had a constant drip, the bathroom had a foul smell (like a sewer-type smell), and the bathroom had some of its lights on some sort of motion sensor that kept going on and off even if you were standing still.
- Derin (6/5): - Noticeably older inn with some updates and renovations. Thin walls and WiFi issues but ok for a one-night stay
- Michael (10/5): - Good value
- Shelley (8/5): - Where we try to stay when we go to see our daughter in Chicago. It's not a big place, but the price is good and the rooms are nice and smelled good. Bed was decent, although the pillows could better, and I would prefer cotton over microfiber sheets. Bathroom amenities were soap and no more, The lady running the front desk is grim but does her job well. Parking is adequate and right off the street. There is a Panera one block away (which is closing alas!) making breakfast easy,
- Patricia (4/5): Terrible neighbor - The first night the downstairs neighbors were extremely noisy for about an hour (about 2:30AM)!
- Erich (10/5): - Great value property. My room was clean and well appointed. And the price very fair for a place in Chicago!
- Alexis (10/5): - It was very clean and nice for the price. Pillows could use an update. Very lumpy but other than that it was great!
- Michael (6/5): Cheap, fairly clean. Kinda dumpy - There was a paper cup in the shower. The shower dripped - into the cup.
We later realized the cup prevented the splash from getting on the bathroom floor. Ingenius? Kinda - but perhaps fixing the shower would be better.
Also - at 2am the first night - we heard like 6 gunshots. This was a first for me..
It was cheap. It seemed clean. It did serve its purpose for a 2 night stay. I don’t think I’d stay again or recommend it
- Roger (6/5): - The staff were friendly unhelpful. The room was clean and larger than expected. But the curtains were ripped. And the area around the hotel and the stairwell were dirty
- Maria (10/5): -
- Vitaliia (1/5): - Very bad service. Negative experience booking this hotel. After paying the full amount for the reservation of three nights, I was simply not allowed into my apartment, saying as an argument: "There are no available rooms". And I just stayed in the middle of the street at midnight, looking for a new place to spend the night.
- Bonnie (10/5): - Super convenient
- Richard (10/5): - Great staff, good room.
- Erica (10/5): - I recently stayed at the Rodeway Inn for a total of about 2 weeks, and I want to take the time to share just how positive my experience was.
First and foremost, I want to recognize Barbara at the front desk. She was truly the highlight of my stay. Every single time I checked in, Barbara was warm, professional, and welcoming. She went above and beyond her role by not only making sure everything was handled smoothly but also by offering thoughtful recommendations and advice. That kind of personal attention made me feel valued as a guest. Most importantly, knowing Barbara was on duty gave me peace of mind—I felt safe, respected, and able to finally get the rest I desperately needed. Staff members like Barbara are rare, and she is a tremendous asset to your hotel.
Housekeeping also did an excellent job. My room was always clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The air conditioning worked perfectly, which was a big relief during my extended stay. That level of consistency made it easy to settle in and feel comfortable for the weeks I was there.
Overall, my stay at this Rodeway Inn far exceeded my expectations. I came in thinking of it as just a motel stay, but it turned out to be comfortable, restful, and stress-free. Because of the outstanding service—especially Barbara’s professionalism, kindness, and dedication—I will most definitely stay again and recommend this location to others.
Sincerely,
Erica Edwards
- Joni (10/5): - Close to wrigleyville
- Dakota (4/5): - The door frame trim that had the door latch was loose from the wall and would come off. The water smelled like sulferus well water. The windows seemed to be made of paper as theyvlet in every single noise from outside. Parking only had 15 spots with 1 handicap spot to cover a total of 20 plus rooms. The door to the stairs that lead to our room did not lock or even have a latchctocstay closed. The beds were clearly bricks with some springs in them and the blanket situation was simple a queen sized heavy duvet cover with not actual duvet inside of it for a king sized matress. The room as a whole was clearly poorly remodeled. Oh and the coffee maker had moldy coffee still in it from the previous person who had stayed there.
- Ann (10/5): - Very safe and quiet! Friendly staff, will stay here again.
- Jason (10/5): - Surprisingly very clean & well maintened. Didn't expect much since I knew I was booking at an older motel but was pleasantly surprised when we arrived!
- Mark (6/5): Great neighborhood. - We checked in very late. Walked over to nearby shopping center to get dinner there was also a Starbucks there to get a coffee in the morning. After dinner we decided to walk through the neighborhood which was a gorgeous neighborhood and absolutely safe. (I don't know how much safer a neighborhood can be when there are several single women out jogging after 9:00 p.m.)
The room was adequate the beds were very comfy. However the walls were paper thin and behind us and to the right of us there was a baby screaming. Not the baby's fault. However by 11:30 p.m. when we went to bed everything seem to be very quiet.
- Abdullah (6/5): - no microwave oven, But the microwave was on the list.
- Carol (8/5): - Convenient location and great value on the price.
- Bushong (5/5): -
- John (2/5): Refused a room with no refund - I was refused a room and I am still waiting for a refund
- Ulukbek (10/5): -
- Richard (10/5): - Good service, great room.
- Vincent (4/5): Friendly staff, housekeeping needs to be better after others stay - good location, easy access there was hair on the bed, garbage still in the room
- Verified traveler (6/5): Do not recommend. - Friendly staff at check-in. Door to our hallway did not lock, so anyone from the outside could come in. Bed was very uncomfortable; the pillows had very little stuffing (old and lumpy) and smelled like urine. There was no place to hang clothes. The single sink did not offer any place to get ready in the morning, and the small bathroom had the only mirror. The TV did not work. It said there was no signal. Carpet felt dirty on our feet. Curtain was falling off the rod. Had to run the water for a long time to get warm water. Light above the sink in the bathroom did not work. The room was one of the cheaper ones we could find in the area.
- Garcia (1/5): Horrible Place - Nothing about this place The room smelled horrible and was not what it showed in the pictures. I would like a full refund because we did not stay there and rented another hotel.
- Dameine (6/5): Pleasant -
- Ariana (10/5): -
- Chrisshaun (5/5): Passable - The area was nice. Very safe & clean neighborhood. The room itself was well maintained & everything worked as it should I don’t like the outdated TV. & I also didn’t like how close my room was to the entrance.
- Nikoya (5/5): It was okay for the night. Definitely wouldn’t go back. Good luck getting your deposit back. - It was mostly clean and had a large bed Front desk was a bit stand offish. At anytime of the day you can’t just walk into the front office, you ring the bell and wait for however long until she decides to open the door. I also didn’t receive my deposit back even though I only stayed for a night and left little to no mess
- Peter (3/5): Poor -
- Sylvia (8/5): - .
- Christopher (6/5): - You get what you pay for
- Joshua (8/5): - I enjoyed my stay
- Vaishnavi (6/5): - It was what you pay for.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The mattress had a plastic wrap around it that crinkled like a potato chip bag every time you move. We got two small travel-sized pillows total (one each). Reception could not be reached by phone. External doors into the areas where rooms are aren’t secured, and someone rattled our door early in the morning.
- Nadeem (9/5): Good Location. Worth Money - King Room size is Big enough - I like the location as it is only 7-8 min drive to Deven Street where we went every monring and night for Breakfast and Dinner. That was one of the main reason that i selected and stayed in this hotel.
Plus hotel per night rate is very reasonable.
We didn't need Breakfast as we had our breakfast daily at Devon Street. Hotel Stairs Carpet is sooooooooo nasty. I believe this carpet never replaced since this hotel built.
At least change the carpet every couple of years.
Too much smell coming from Stairs carpet.
- Dominick (2/5): Paid Guest Who Was Verbally Denied Service - I am currently in Room 23 as of Friday, July 11th at 7:00 AM. What I am about to explain happened shortly after 6:45 AM Central Time.
I attempted calling the front desk this morning, but the line was either picking up or working when dialing 0.
The room doesn't have an iron and ironing board.
Therefore, I walked downstairs to see if they had one behind the desk.
The lady asked what my room number was. I couldn't remember the exact number, but I told her I think it is B21.
The lady explained that I am not in the system, and asked me to confirm my room again. I told her how to get to my room, which is take the B door and it is the first room on the right upstairs.
She proceeded to tell me that I AM NOT IN THE SYSTEM and asked me to go and check my room number.
I walked back and confirmed my room is B23.
I asked "If I am not in the system, how will I get my deposit back". She then became angry (called me rude) and denied to give me the iron and slammed the door to the office.
Yes, she verbally said she would not give me the iron.
Note, when looking at the phone in my room, it says room 21. However, the room number says B 23.
I booked this room through hotels.com. I will be leaving the same review there as well.
This is my 2nd time every staying at a 2 star hotel. It will be my last time. I didn't know it was 2 star until after I booked my reservation.
- Melan (7/5): Good -
- Sekinat (1/5): Worst hotel ever since have been traveling. - The receptionist is rude, not cultured,no respect for customers, they gave my room out to another customer, held onto my money for 30days and never payback and I calls they Never pick or answer my calls. Nothing about the hotel is good ,no rest room for urgent customers who are about to make reservations
- Alexandra (10/5): - It was a very efficient experience. Perfect for a place to sleep for the night as long as you don't care that the window is very close to the parking lot. Clean and a good value.
- Ahmari (2/5): - Was charged an extra $60 when i got to the hotel for no better explained reason than deposit..???? I asked for an explanation genuinely confused as I've already spent money on the hotel online and was met with attitude and rudeness…. The receptionist’s demeanor made me feel so questionable about the safety of my personal info i for the first time actually thought about the dangers of handing someone my ID not once til now had i considered that
- Bertold (5/5): Even by Rodeway standards substandard - No breakfast option. McD one block away. Parking. Most unfriendly front desk person I have so far encountered. Can only enter office by being buzzed in one by one. Request arbitrary deposit but card reader not working.
- Ahmed (4/5): - I was charged 60 dollars as a deposit without getting a receipt even though I was only staying one night and lady who checked us in said that I can get the receipt in the morning when I check out. When I checked out the guy was so rude and refuse to give me a receipt and said that I have to wait till the manager comes; I asked why I have to wait, just print the receipt and let me go and I told him that the lady last night when I checked in said I will get the receipt in the morning, then he I answered “ I am not her!!!” He was extremely rude and pushy and barely gave me a copy of my check in paper. I will never stay there again.
- Stephen (10/5): - Simple stay
- Soraya (6/5): - Pretty old building g but our unit was renovated …. Bedsheet did not seem clean had spots disappointing no closer or option to hang out suits and clothes. And no mirror in room only a small sink and Amal mirror in bathroom.
- George (6/5): - Across the street from a Starbucks. Easy parking.
- Tom (8/5): - It was fine
- Audrey (2/5): - The locks on our doors were broken so we had to barricade ourselves in the room
- Nioka (1/5): Unprofessional - No one was in the office upon our arrival. We knocked and called multiple times and there was no answer so we couldn't even stay. Nothing. We arrived and the door was locked to the office. No one answered when he knocked. I called multiple times and even had booking.com call and email them. This hotel did not reply to me until around 3 or 4 later. We had to find other accommodations as we weren't able to just sit around and wait for them to show up. I was told "Someone was present in the office all day. We ask that you knock." The lights were off, door was locked, and no one answered the knocks or calls. They even had paper up on the door saying "No rooms available." which even if there aren't, you should be there to check in your guests with reservations. I was still charged and am so angry that I wasted time on this hotel.
- gian (6/5): - I would stay in this property again, staff are nice, but the place could use a little touch up paint new carpet, pillows but you get what you pay for and it’s better than most “motel” in the areas I stayed in before it’s descent enough for a day or two of stay.
- Frank (6/5): Pleasant -
- Sarah (8/5): - Lean and clean. Great value.
- Nicholas (1/5): Bad -
- Bannister (5/5): Passable -
- Nusrat Jahan (2/5): - Dirty and smelly. Smell of poop from bathroom spread out and covered the whole place.
- Shelley (10/5): - Definitely pleasantly surprised.... Clean rooms.... Frig..... Microwave.... Cozy!! ❤️
- Florence (1/5): Poor - Nothing to say The room curtain was torn. The bedcover had a cut. The room was not good. To worsen the matter there was a blackout, our second night was spent in the dark. We didn't enjoy our stay in this location
- Kevin (8/5): Very good -
- Richard (1/5): Bad - Was closed Was closed
