• Guillermo (9/5): PRECIOSO - La habitación es absolutamente preciosa y espaciosa, con unas vistas super agradables que aportan serenidad a pesar de estar en el centro de la ciudad. Todo está cuidado al más mínimo detalle. Por ser muy "picky", quizás nos hubiese gustado contar con un bar / restaurante en el hotel, pero solo como un extra, no afectó negativamente a nuestra estancia, en la habitación había café, te, nevera, microondas, etc. por si quieres cocinar algo y, en cualquier caso, hay varios bares y restaurantes al lado.

• Yuri (8/5): Overall, very aesthetic and away from the tourists and beautiful location on the river. Unforgettable stay. I would come - The interior and design is exactly the style I love. Minimal and clean but with a touch of the Japanese traditional Kyoto charm. Love the heated floors in the bathroom and almost throughout the entire property. The scenery from upstairs is stunning. Love the tea and overall aesthetic of the place. The meals were delicious and beautifully prepared. Could have instructions in a nice aesthetic binder in English and other languages for how to use the facilities and things like heaters. Most importantly, many of the cafe customers keep trying to come into the stay as it is adjoined to the machiya unfortunately. They really need a sign for the cafe customers. Also mind the stairs, these are traditional so if you have challenges with movement, this stay might not be for you. However you can sleep upstairs (western bed) and downstairs (futon style that staff can prepare for you). The bathroom is only downstairs.

The tub was a fun experience.The view out of the upstairs window was enchanting. The lighting was really low, particularly in the bathroom, so it was hard to see anything. I found myself standing outside with a little mirror to try to see my face

• Esa (10/5): True Kyoto experience - Absolutely fantastic house! All the modern days needs met with harmony and tradition. Great nod to the Japanese craftsmanship. Here you can really experience how it feels to live in a unique Japanese house with every detail being so beautiful and well thought. Can't write too much not to spoil all the surprising details. One has to experience it by themselves. Very nice and friendly staff. The only bad thing was that eventually we had to leave :)

Staircase up to the rooms could be tricky with a lot of luggage. That being said, the staff helped us check in and bring our bags up the stairs.

The views of the river are tranquil, the spa-like bath is relaxing, the beds were comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped. We were there on a hot day and the AC worked well. We had the preordered traditional Kaiseki style breakfast that was fresh and tasty. The hostess was helpful and friendly. The house was also impeccably clean and beautifully designed. Very pleased we had the chance to stay here! Everything was lovely. No complaints.

• Ben (10/5): We loved staying in this beautiful home, and would definitely recommend it to anyone coming to Kyoto - The hosts were very hospitable and met us at the property. Location was very central and it was easy to get to both the local metro and the JR lines. Upstairs has a big window with chairs that overlooks the river, which we loved. The bathtub was nice but somewhat awkward to use. The staircase steps are very shallow and a little tricky to get down, and pretty steep. The key was a little awkward to carry around all day since it was so large.

• Chatmongkol (7/5): Very nice place to stay for a young couple. May be a bit less practical for oldies, or more than 2. - The artistic design, and the quality of the decorations of the whole place. The seclude, quiet location, next to Kamohan river, and just a short walk to bustling areas. Good for the price (when we booked). Me, my wife and an adult son stay for 4 nights, finding the place very good, but could be more practical. The 2nd toilet only approachable from outside, and should be moved inside for more convenience. The stair is steep and narrow, which is difficult to navigate at night when you have to drowsily come down to toilet, which is only available downstairs. The bedroom closet is locked for storage, so there’s no places to hang your clothes upstair. We have to put our clothes on the floor, which defeat the purpose of enjoying the super artistic design of the place. The last issue might only be our bad luck. There was a construction work next to the property when we stayed, starting 8am until late afternoon everyday, which kind of ruin the peacefulness that we expected when we choose the place. Overall. The place could be perfect for a couple, since the external 2nd toilet and the unavailability of 2nd floor closet and toilet is a bother.
