Just tried to book again but no room. - Very good and a great choice It was very hot in all areas of the hotel especially the bedroom although there was a fan provided which was great. I am a particularly hot person so that might not apply to all.

- Trevor (7/5): Hotel was pleasant, we only had a breakfast meal. A good range of choice and all cooked fresh, and served via table serv - The hotel was aesthetically pleasing to the eye. The room was pleasant and had all the facilities you would expect from a hotel room. No air conditioning in the room, but all windows were operational.
- J.W. (9/5): Echt prima verblijf, een volgende keer weer! - Mooi ingericht hotel, zeer schoon. Locatie ook goed, vlak bij centrum. Eigen parkeerplaats voor gasten. Uitstekend ontbijt. Hoewel zelf geen gebruik van gemaakt, gezellige bar en inhouse restaurant. De badkamer in de overigens stijlvol ingerichte eenpersoonskamer (in een bijgebouw) was wel erg klein. Douche prima temperatuur, maar maakt wel de hele badkamervloer kletsnat.

- Gem (8/5): Ideal location, modern decor just a few little improvements - The modern decor, ideal location for our stay, main dining rooms spotlessly clean, clean and comfortable bed. The room was lovely but cleanliness could have been a bit better. Being a cleaner myself I noticed the dressing table mirror top and behind the table was dusty. The carpet behind the dresser I noticed dust settled on the top so hasn't been hoovered in detail for a while. There were also some food traces on the window ledge of the room? The cooked breakfast was nice but unfortunately we seemed to have been given both different types of bacon for the same meal? My partner asked for scrambled eggs and was given fried eggs with two pieces of obviously shell in the egg white. We did like our stay just little things could have been a bit better.

- Sharron (7/5): Lovely hotel but breakfast service was very, very slow. - The hotel is lovely. It is nicely decorated and had a choice of 3 different bars to eat. We ate in Pecks Restaurant on our first night and it was wonderful. The breakfast service was beyond slow. On Saturday we ordered two fruit salads which took 45 minutes. On Sunday we arrived at 10am and just ordered an omelette and poached eggs. By 11am we enquired where our breakfast was and we still had to wait so we told the staff to cancel our order! Not ideal with a 3 hour journey home ahead of us! Additionally, I booked a Deluxe room. The room was really nice but located right next to the kitchen extracts which were running most of the day and well into the evening so if the window was open all we could smell was cooking food. The view of the kitchen roof and extract system wasn't great either for what we paid.

Welcoming and helpful staff. Only tiny gripe , I'm not a fan of coffee pod machine in room, a faff and never hot enough. Had I stayed longer I'd have asked for s kettle.

The staff attentiveness and friendliness was very good. The evening meal was also great quality. I had a meat and cheese board to start and a hot chicken salad and both were of the highest quality. Well done to the chef and bar / waiting staff. Nothing I disliked

- ERIC (7/5): I would stay there again but only in a room on the top floor. - Excellent food and drink in the Lounge. The main restaurant was not open during my stay. Central location was good. Stayed in Room 10 which was nice enough but the noise from neighbors and especially the room above was unacceptable. It's a very old building and there is no noise insulation to speak of.
- ProfPatPending (9/5): Nice hotel in central Congleton. Super breakfast - try the Staffordshire Oatcakes they're great! - Great breakfast, super convenient location. Very friendly staff. The rooms in the annex are not well sign-posted from the car park, which meant a lot of searching and my wife is currently on crutches, so it made it harder for her than it should have been. Once we knew where we were going, all was well.

My TV control didn't work tried calling reception 5 times and no response, also wanted to book a table for dinner, went to see them (staff were maning the bar) they promissed to resolve whilst I had dinner. Finished dinner went back to room and still remote wasn't resolved, tried calling reception again, no response! Again went to see them (said they had forgotten to sort the TV) but this time they did actually find a replacement remote.

Every single time we needed something - check in, Check out, breakfast - we had to go looking for staff Had to call behind the bar to get any attention. When they did appear they were pleasant , but not good enough for any hotel let alone a 5 star hotel.
- Roopa (4/5): Clean hotel but do not expect a peaceful nights sleep, especially if you go on the weekend. - The hotel looks good and clean. The noise is terrible, could not sleep at all. Was in the area for a wedding all my friends had the same issue, my window was closed but felt like I was in the kitchen. Staff was swearing most of the time. Also requested an early check in, the room was not ready for when they said it would be so I had barely no time to get ready as had to leave for wedding. They still charged me anyway!!

- Stephanie (3/5): NIce hotel but could be run better - The staff were friendly, the room was clean, very traditional room which was lovely When we arrived there was an awful smell possibly from the drains when we flushed the toilet and used the basin. This smell lingered our whole stay. On the second night the beds were not made up from the previous night and there was no heating put on in our room the whole night - it was absolutely freezing all night. The breakfasts were very slow and we were waiting an awfully long time for our food (around an hour). We couldnt get into the hotel on the second night around 8pm, as they had no reception and the doors into the front of the hotel had been locked, fortunately after wandering around the outside of the hotel we managed to push open a side door obviously used for the staff (near the bar area) and woke the night watch man who opened the doors for my wife, it was near freezing outside. There really should have been some notification as to what to do if the doors of the hotel get locked. Would not stay again.

The hotel caters for young guests on the whole Coffee machine in room and difficulty in the shower , the bathroom floor was really shiny and older people could slip quite easily like i did ... Overall a lovely hotel but sorry not for me ....
- Jane (9/5): Comfortable stay in an elegantly decorated historic building with good facilities. - Good location in characterful buildings. Elegant interiors are combined with original features and especially attractive dressed for Christmas. Good parking was available on site. There was a good choice of cooked breakfasts with yoghurts, fresh fruit and cereals also available. Very good coffee. Entrance to the car park was narrow. Gaps round the bathroom window let the cold air.
- Paula (6/5): Disappointing compared to our first visit. - Room was tastefully decorated and comfortable. Shower room was clean and particularly liked the toiletries supplied. There were plenty of places to eat locally, so the location was good and parking was free. Bedding used was too small for the bed, so didn't stay on properly. No milk was supplied in the room for the first morning and there was a terrible noise right through the Saturday night, so much so that I hardly got any sleep despite using the ear plugs that were provided in the room.

- Joanne (10/5): A lovely boutique hotel in the centre of Congleton — great staff, excellent food, and so comfortable we keep returning. - Been here before, it’s a gem of a boutique hotel in the centre of Congleton market town. Staff, facilities, comfort and quality of the food made us come back and we’ll be back again soon! There was a funny smell when we went in the room but possibly the bath in the main bedroom hadn’t been used for a while so we filled it and gave a good flush of water and the smell seemed to go away, the staff provided us with an air freshener but we only used it prior to running the bath and didn’t red it again.

- Karen (9/5): Great for a stop over - We have stayed here now three times and it has good location, friendly staff, rooms are good quality and clean parking very good, very modern, They supply milk and Water meal in lounge was not worth the money, We booked for 6.30 decided to eat at 5.30 but hardly any food left so if gone at our original time we would have not had anything to eat. What we did have was disappointing would not eat here again.

Hot chocolate as well as coffee capsules were supplied with a coffee machine which was great but there were no instructions for the machine. I don’t like coffee and so sadly was unable to use it to make a hot chocolate. What a shame.

- Rachael (10/5): Full of history and class - What a beautiful place! I was so impressed from the moment I entered. The decor is very classy and I enjoyed my drink in the lounge area whilst waiting for my room key. The room itself was lovely and the perfect size for me. The facilities were great and I had a perfect night's sleep. Breakfast in the morning was plentiful and tasty, I went for the full English and enjoyed a fresh warm croissant afterwards. The staff I encountered were all pleasant and ready to assist you. I would definitely return if I'm in the area again. Nothing really. The carpark at the back is very tiny and was full when I arrived. However, I located a pay and display a minute down the road which was fine.
