Great location that was close to the main roads but had the advantage of being on a quiet street located near many good food and drink options. The family room is quite large, and 'king size' beds are American -size 'king.' There are two free/community clothes washers on the third floor, which is an incredible amenity to have Breakfast in the morning is quite diverse with a decent selection even if you are vegetarian or vwgan. Each pot of coffee is made from freshly ground beans, and the pancakes are a particular favorite-so light and fluffy!

- Heather (10/5): great stay - I really liked this hotel. The location was great. There is a place to do your laundry and laundry services nearby. Breakfast was very good. Good AC. The rooms aren't very sound proof so you could hear everything that was going on outside and there were very loud fireworks every single night (during Loy Krathong) past midnight. Would definitely stay here again but maybe not during a festival.

- Verified traveler (10/5): 아내와의 치앙마이 여행 - 처음 도착해선 그렇게 좋은 느낌은 아니었습니다. 이런 곳은 혼자 여행하는 여행객이 오는 게스트하우스 같은 느낌이었습니다. 그러나 하루 이틀 지내다보니 이곳이 너무 좋아졌습니다. 타페게이트 근처라 올드타운 어디든 쉽게 접근할 수가 있고 청소도 아주 잘해서 깨끗함을 유지하더군요. 아침 조식은 과일이 종류별로 있어 과일 사먹지 않았고 완탕 같은 것이 있는데 속을 후련하게 풀어주고 아주 좋았습니다. 적극 추천합니다.

- keiichiro (8/5): 旧市街の入り口 - ターペー門近く、旧市街に少し入ったところにあります。通りからは入り口がちょっと見つけにくい角度にあります。レストランの反対側。 部屋は広くていい感じです。 冷蔵庫もあります...がなぜか臭かった。外出時、キーカードを抜くと電源が切れますので注意。 朝食は07:30~10:00です。 08:45発のBangkok行き特急に乗る場合、前もって準備をしておいて07:30から朝食、早めにGrabやBoltを呼んで駅に行けば大丈夫です。 (ちなみに私の場合、08:07にフロントからBoltを呼んで08:13出発、駅には08:22でした。THB85) なお早く出発する場合は前日申し出れば簡単なTakeawayのセットを準備してもらえますが、かなり簡素です。

- Verified traveler (10/5): 會推薦 - 旅館位於巷子裡，好處是比較安靜，壞處是自己一個晚上出入巷子很暗。轉出去大路10分鐘就能到夜市，很方便。評語提到的噪音問題，當樓上移動家具或者有客人高聲談笑的時候的確會有，但我留了四晚剛好都不嚴重，睡得很好。價格便宜，還有泳池和早餐十分划算，免費洗衣機，又有地方晾衣服，還是很值得推薦的。

Nice breakfast buffet with toast, cereals, yoghurt, juice, fruit and a choice of 5 different hot dishes with egg, sausage etc. A small minus for margarine instead of butter. Good coffee. Nice, helpful staff.

- Brenda (8/5): Beautiful hotel close to everything - The rooms are set around a beautiful pool courtyard. There are nice outdoor sitting areas but the outdoor smoking areas are close by so you can get some smoke. Our room was near the entrance so it can be a bit loud as people come and go.

- Leslie (10/5): Beautiful, Clean and Comfortable - I stayed her 3 time as I used Chiang Mai as a base for traveling around the northern part of the country. The first (and 3rd time) I had a room upstairs with a double bed. This is the room that made me book again! It was perfect! Clean & cute! Comfortable bed, coffee in the room, good size bathroom with nice shower. My second stay was in a room downstairs with 2 twin beds. It all of the above but the walls were cracked and a bit sorry in places. It was right next to the pool and social area, so I had people talking outside of my room until after 11 pm. If I stayed in that room the first time, I think I would have looked elsewhere for my other nights. Every time I stayed the staff was friendly and helpful. There was a nice breakfast included. WiFi was good. It is walkable to a lot of cool place to see including temples and street markets. Overall I highly recommend this place. Ask for a room upstairs or away from the gathering areas.

- Malin (6/5): Loud! - The hotel is very loud. I read the reviews before staying, and they said it was loud. And it was beyond that. It honestly sounded as if people where inside the room at night. Good location, but would not stay again.
- Samantha (10/5): Character and calmness in the heart of Chiang Mai - This hotel definitely belongs in Chiang Mai; has lots of character, isn't too big nor busy! It's on a small back road really close to the busy areas in the old city, so you get the location without the noise! The breakfast is fantastic; you get a selection of pastries, fruit and cereal, then you get to choose one of their main dishes from the menu. The pool is QUITE cold, so I was usually the only one using it. You don't get a good sun angle (at least in January) for tanning or anything but it's still a great place to hang out. It can get a tiny bit noisy because the rooms are all facing the common area, and we were on the bottom floor right beside the pool. Great bed, good shower, I would stay here again for sure.

- Elizabeth (8/5): Cute Hotel near Everything - My friends and I were coming to Chiang Mai for New Years and to explore Northern Thailand and we choose Somwang for our stay. The hotel was exactly the right place for us, it was close to town so we could go out and explore the city easily. It's also in a great location if you have tours planned, it's near so much so we were able to meet our tours with out any issue. The room was great as well, nothing fancy, but a comfortable bed, a shower with great water pressure and plenty of fresh water to make sure we stayed hydrated. I would recommend Somwang to all of my friends who are planning to see the sites and only need a room for a clean shower and comfortable bed! **Also the included breakfast was great, nothing fancy again it was exactly what we needed in the morning, eggs, sausage, fruit, pastries...excellent for a quick morning bite.
- Kristin (10/5): PERFECT little hotel - Amazing stay. Possibly our favorite in all of Thailand. First of all, the service upon check in was great. Very informative and friendly! The location was great. We walked almost everywhere we went. You can exit the hotel through the back too which puts you right on the main road. Our stay included breakfast and the breakfast was AMAZING. Other hotels always advertise “American breakfast” but this place had an amazing bone broth soup and a dumpling soup. And then some fruit and pastries that they put out. They also had this amazing breakfast noodle dish that I’m still dreaming about. It was very clean and they gave us slippers that I really just saved to remember this place by. Will definitely be back to Chiang Mai and I would absolutely stay at this place again!

I asked staff for a clean cup for coffee and waited for 20 min then most of the food was gone by the time they brought out Clean dishes. Also they had a new year night event and I won a prize. however, they refused to honor the prize :( and said the management would have no substitute. So they made a big show of giving prizes to guests, but there was no real prizes in those envelopes. Over all not friendly staff and customer service appears lacking.

- Nalin (10/5): Great staff, central location, lovely room - My friend and I had a lovely stay at Somwang Boutique Hotel for 3 nights. It was a quick ride from CNX airport. When we arrived to the hotel at about 9pm the gentleman at the front desk was quick to get us checked in and answer our questions. He was also very responsive for the remainder of our stay when we needed help understanding the transportation options and booking tours. Overall, it was a great experience. It was clean, the staff were friendly, and it is in walking distance of many restaurants/cafes and night markets. I recommend this hotel to any travelers in the area.

- Stevin Azo (10/5): Great hotel, service, and breakfast. - Really enjoyed my time here. The room was magnificent. Tub and overhead show room, with glass walls (and shades). Room was spacious. Nice view. The service here is exemplary. The breakfast spread is overwhelming. They have a LOT of different types of food, many I wouldn't normally think of as breakfast food like meat and samosa. There were Thai, Chinese, and European style options.Eggs, pancakes, pastry, breads, jams and honey. There's also cereals, fruits, yoghurts. It went on and on. Oh, and there's an infinity pool, a 24 hour gym, and an amazing spa. It's a few blocks walking to the Metro, but there's also a shuttle provided by the hotel every hour or half hour. There's also a bus stop right across the street if you're able to negotiate those.

Mostly little or non English speaking staff. Very close to pool and noisy with late night drunk tourists 3 out of 6 nights. Can’t beat the location easy walking everywhere we wanted to go. Decent but a little slow WiFi. The staff is excellent for leaving you alone or not paying attention to their guests. I wanted to leave money for house keeping staff but the front desk had no change and told me go to 7-11 and buy something for money change. In the end it’s a nice place and convenient for walking anywhere. Not sure I would stay here again. I wanted to leave after the first night but had already prepaid for entire stay. I probably would not recommend to friends or family. Best guy there was the breakfast host and quick, responsive housekeeping staff.

- Jannelle (10/5): Great comfortable stylish hotel - Somwang is always our first choice in Chiang Mai as it is great value for money , has everything you need whether just sleeping or needing to relax during the day. The rooms are adequate in size , clean and comfortable ( although I do prefer a softer mattress ) the mattress is better than most . There are comfortable outdoor areas to relax in and a lovely pool to cool down after a hard day sightseeing. The location in the old city is excellent with good restaurants close by. However as this issuch agreat palce to stay it is often fully booked and hard to get an extra day if you decide to stay longer.
