Guest Reviews
- vijay (2/5): - This hotel does not exist.
- Manuel (8/5): Buena opción en Manuel Antonio - Muy bonito el Hotel y excelente servicio
- Roberto (6/5): - I have stayed about Selina many times, It’s great that’s why I keep coming back, Except this time, the bathroom had two leaks, one Was coming from the ceiling from the air air conditioning pipe, and then the faucet had another leak. But that wasn’t the worst part, There’s a receptionist, Short blonde, Who has the worst demeanor, I have noticed that before, God forbid she cracks a smile, And at the time of check out, she didn’t even say thank you or goodbye, Specially, annoying the inconveniences I had had in the bathroom Just rude! The rest of the staff are fantastic. The guys at the restaurants are great, Jesse and Caroline and all of them!
- Fatima (10/5): - Super nice hotel
- Roberto (10/5): - Good location, parking a bit limited
- Edward (8/5): - Nice property
- Anton (10/5): - Amazing locstion and amenities. It was set up to be easy to meet people so i went out with a group at nights and chatted by the pool. The views from the top of the hill were amazing, but walkong back was a serious workout. A few monutes from the beach, the national park, and Quepos. Restaurant food was excellent. Their speed and responsiveness was jmpressive. My door broke and it was fixed within 15 minutes. I needed to reschedule a booked appointment and they did it without fanfare or fuss. Local staff who know the lay of the land can suggest things to do besides the tours.
- craig (8/5): - Good location and decent hotel for the price. 3 pools and we see lots of animals, parrots, monkeys, Toucans, ect...
- Israel (8/5): - Lo que pasa es que de la recepción hasta la habitación es muy largo y sin techo, entonces por la tormenta se nos mojo todo!
Un poco oscuro el recorrido y poca información para llegar hasta la habitación!
- Edna (10/5): - This hostel was great for the 2 nights I stayed. The bus stop is right outside the property and can take you to the beach for less than $1. You can also walk to the beach but I don’t recommend since it is very hilly and there really isn’t a sidewalk. Our room was clean and had everything we needed. Staff is very helpful and answered all our questions about the town dining potions etc.
- Sukhdeep (10/5): Place in paradise - This place on its own was pretty nice but when you take it in conjunction with the staff the services and the experience they provide, for me personally, it was simply perfect, I could not have asked for nothing more. Paula and other staff were amazing. Most of the activities and help I received was from Paula ajd it genuinely felt as if she did care about my safety and well being in addition to the experience I had. Ive stayed in what many would consider higher end hotels and resorts and I've never felt as welcomed and as at home as I did here. This was my first experience at a Selina hostel and I absolutely will be coming back with.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Ignore the other reviews - Okay so, I saw a lot of negative reviews after we booked this so was quite worried HOWEVER this hostel/hotel was PERFECT
I can confirm there is no construction at the moment (stayed at the end of Jan 23) and the pool cushions are brand new :)
We had a lovely suite with aircon and a fan, reception and housekeeping were all so lovely!
Quick check in :)
Breakfast was good, if it’s not included in your stay you can buy a ticket for $8 at reception which is cheaper than buying it from the a La carte menu!
Overall it was the best place we stayed in during our trip and was worth the price, made our last few days so fun!
pS , there is a bus to and from the beach (like 3 minutes) for less than 400 colones and it can stop right outside the hotel xxx
- Tripp (10/5): Great place to meet people! - I had the experience of staying in a solo room and a dorm style. The dorm style bed was much more comfortable compared to the other. Overall the accommodations were nice nothing special. The reason you stay a Selina is to be at the heart of where people meet. I met people from all over there. I would stay again but the price is high for what u get.
- cindy (10/5): - amazing as always
- Vinodkumar (2/5): Never recomandation - Worst condition
- Sherry L (2/5): Do not stay here - Terrible stay! People partying until 6am. Screaming in the hallways and leaving garbage all over. The staff have no control at this place! Do not go!
- patricia (10/5): - Loved the ambience, the location and the people.
- Kiriath (6/5): - Friendly staff but the rooms needs to be renewed
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excelente lugar y ambiente para disfrutar manuel Antonio
- Jonathan (10/5): - Friendly staff - amazing room (suite) which was larger than expected! Three different pools. Wish that the property had a pool table - they certainly have the space for it. No real ocean views - but great views of the jungle. Great spot in Manuel Antonio.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I really tried to like this place but from the moment we arrived it was just an overall bad experience. Starting with check in they left us waiting because
- Danielle (4/5): Good in theory, horrible suites - Let me start off by saying that I have stayed in many selinas, and overall the grounds of this hotel are pretty amazing. It has SO much promised and I really wanted it to be better. Sadly the room I received, which was insanely overpriced, was completely run down and imo inhabitable. If you’re going to charge that much money for a suite, I would expect a lot more. The hostal itself is in a great location, the coworking space was the best I’ve seen, but the activities / yoga classes were inconsistent (yoga was cancelled one day and we were never notified). Also this Selina has an incredibly young, party crowd, which was not for me. Most of the people staying there were 18-21 and were raging most of the night. Also I had ZERO WiFi in my room, which, if you’re going to market yourself as a place for digital nomads to work, was unacceptable imo. Also the staff was incredibly unhelpful and just generally seemed unhappy to be there. My room was so terrible that I ended up cancelling my reservation early and booking a hotel next door, which for the price, was a world away from Selina. If you’re over the age of 25 and have some standards, I would not recommend staying here.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This place is very special. A very upscale hostel as it had 3 pools! All the staff were super kind and friendly. This felt more like a resort than a hostel which i was very please with how far my money went by staying here. It's in the middle of the jungle and we saw sloths, toucans, and monkeys by our room. Most restaurants are walking distance.
My only suggestion is to give better advertising for the work out classes! I loved this place so much and had an amazing time. The people, the locations, the vibes. everything was excellent. I already miss this place and Selena Manuel Antonio has a special place in my heart. The other friends I have who came here agree. Thank you to all the staff you were all wonderful and I will be back :)
- Miki (10/5): Sloths, monkeys, and a good time - I got there and checked into my room.. 30 seconds later there was a sloth outside my room. After watching him for 10 minutes a family of white-faced monkeys showed up. I was instantly in love. This is a cool Selina to meet other people. There’s a bar and a main pool where everyone hangs out and ends up partying every night. Sometimes it’s loud and awesome and sometimes it’s chill and usually clears out at midnight either way. The location is great, close to the beach and the park. I could stay here for a couple weeks and be happy. The staff is nice although it would be cool if they brought more energy and more of a good welcoming. They should do more events to bring people together cause the place is huge but a lot of people are in their own groups the whole time. Also no one asked me how my stay was going and my room wasn’t cleaned the whole time(3 days)even tho I put the door thing on to have it cleaned. If you’re young and fun this is the best place to stay in Manuel Antonio.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The hotel is old and the rooms are worn out and not very clean. There’s loud music playing all day and night so it’s quite hard to rest. Staff is very friendly though!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - My favourite place. the vibe the people everything is just amazing pura vida !
- Carlos A (10/5): - Todo estuvo increíble!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Our Stay at Selina - I do want to like this place the people and customer service were outstanding and even the price and place but the mattresses are hard as a rock and music was booming all through the night. You must be very fit to walk up and down the pathways every time you need the kitchen. I do love being across from El Avion and fixing our meals in the kitchen was really great too.Having 3 pools to choose from was a luxury! Mohamed was so friendly showing us around and check-in was fast friendly and easy.Love that the bus stops in front of Selina!
- Ed (8/5): - Un lugar maravilloso para disfrutar con amigos se pasa guay y la playa esta cerca y además tiene un excelente restaurante al frente de el.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Had to cancel and possibly lost the reservation money. Bathroom had to be shared if we stayed and that was not an option for us
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excelente habitación e instalaciones. Hotel situado a unos 2km de la playa, pero en lo alto de la colina, por lo que es recomendable ir bajan a la playa en coche.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Light bulb was not working in bathroom, fan did not work consistently in small bedroom
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I thought that their activities including yoga and the late night DJ’s were unique, I didn’t enjoy the majority of the front desk staff, they were rude and not welcoming. Also the rooms were very worn out and didn’t appear clean.
- Liza (10/5): - This was the best stay in Manuel Antonio. The location of Selina was perfect - very close to a fun zip coaster, walking distance to the beach and next to plenty of restaurants. The territory of Selina is huge and so many animals live there (as it's just next to Manuel Antonio). We saw more animals on the territory of Selina than in the National Park. There is even a sloth living on a tree there! We also saw toucans, iguanas, agoutis and plenty of colourful birds. Also, breakfasts were fabulous, upper terrace was amazing for working and there are also 3 swimming pools. The rooms are simple, but for this price, you can't expect more! Besides, you will only sleep there, as there are so many things to do nearby.
- Verified traveler (2/5): No sleep stay at Selina - First of all I want to give Joanna and Jose 5 stars for their service. Other than that the hotel room is dirty and they put a nice private room right by the club where party starts at 10pm and ends the next morning. Which means if you want to sleep? Good luck! The shower has no curtain so each time we showered the entire floor became wet. They don’t clean the floor, so dirty all black! Oh the A/C sometimes blow out warm air so we sweat and wokeup in middle of the night. This is the hottest party hotel in Manuel Antonio. Good for party kids. Suggest Selina to separate your dorms from your expensive private rooms location.
- Katleen (4/5): - Our main disappointment was the lack of proactiveness from the reception: upon arrival we received no information (just someone walking with us to our room which was nicely secluded, large terras but very very basic furniture). We had our own car and parked incorrectly the first day ($100 fine!), then when someone did help us we were parked on a field further down the road (it was locked when we wanted to retrieve the car, unclear initially) so back to the desk for the key, then when we did find parking on the closer parkings, we got another car parked behind us twice.. first time we had to take a cab as we had an early tour scheduled, second time was before our planned return to San Jose... in Both cases the receptionist and her supervisor were not very understanding or helpful. I would not recommend this hotel if you have a car. They should hire a parking attendant as the restaurant has across the street ( or at least explain and ensure the parking rules are known by the guests). Again first time in Costa Rica we did not really feel welcome but juist a nuisance guest! Maybe because we were a family (two sons 5&6) hence the secluded room (which we prefer!)!!
- Theresa (8/5): Choose your room wisely - Property was great.... pools, restaurant.. toucans and monkeys and they offer Yoga classes in a beautiful outdoor jungle studio
Be careful which room you choose. We had the opportunity to see the regular room and the deluxe.. major difference. Go with deluxe unless your using a shared room/hostel.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Good location. Good vibes. Cool style. Same filthy conditions I’ve experienced at every Selina :(
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The food in the restaurant was awesome. The room looked NOTHING like the online pictures.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Great location and views. Lots of people from all over the world. The single room was ok by hotel standards but fairly rough compared to the Selina in La Fortuna
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This certain Selina property I was not a big fan of. Lots of stairs, it's kind of complicated to find the rooms, but in general, the room was clean, the pool was nice and the staff was charming! The music was sooooo good! The space to do Yoga is amazingly beautiful and calm. The parking is convenient. The location is perfect, its about 2-3 minutes away from the Manuel Antonio National Park and it's beautiful beaches. If you're traveling with just a backpack, then this is definitely your location! If you're traveling with big bags and suitcases then I suggest you choose another location with easier access. Nice property and perfect location in general!
- Sergio (8/5): - Very friendly staff, excellent atmosphere, nice and clean rooms but somewhat neglected infrastructure. I really like very much the concept of Selina´s Hotels, I´ve also been to Selina in Nosara. Worth it !!!
- América (8/5): - The overall experience was good, but I think they should take care more of the maintenance of the place, our bathroom faucet was dripping water, the room smells a bit humid, the hotel room and bath room needs a good paint and renew bathroom furniture like the shower door and sink gabinet. The service was ok, a positive thing is that you can see monkeys around the hotel.
- Poki (8/5): - Great location, a fun place to stay with nice design and a cozy atmosphere. I booked a standard room and it was exactly that: standard. The bathroom I didn’t like but the rest of the room was ok, with fun design details. Loved that it had A/C and a fan! Good breakfast and very friendly staff
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The common areas of this property were decorated in very cute boho style. Even the common showers were decorated very nicely. Check in was eclectic and appeared to be half of a VW bus. The 3 pools were well maintained, yoga studio with thatched roof over looking jungle.
The deluxe room it self was less than expected, there was no canopy bed as pictured, mismatched furniture, windows that didnt work (broken peice of wood to hold up window, was not a rainfall shower head - the hot water was marked by a peice of red duct tape over the faucet, the sink had no stopper and the lamp had no shade (just a bulb).
The property was very pretty, murals and multi level property with many steps- 81 steps to breakfast (so its not for those on crutches, difficulty walking or in wheelchairs).
The staff was nice especially in the bar/dining area. Rafael who assisted with the tours was fantastic, friendly, knowledgeable and very very helpful!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Gorgeous property, and a nice deluxe room with a balcony. Parking is a challenge and we were blocked by someone illegally parked. The staff was super helpful and arranged a ride for us to the airport in record time. Thanks again for the arrangements.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - First of all whoever checked us is just gave us a room key and left. There was no explanation of the property or activities. Absolutely no hot water. We told the front desk multiple times and nothing was done. Now during check out they have allowed someone to block in our car and didn’t write down the name or number of the person who owns the car. We’ve been waiting for two hours already and the staff still can’t figure out what to do. This is absolutely ridiculous. We have a 5 hour drive ahead of us and a tour we already will miss due to this company’s stupidity.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great hostel! - The Manuel Antonio Selina is a great hostel! The bar is good, the common areas and kitchen are good and the rooms are comfortable too. Having three really nice pools is a great bonus too.
- Jules (10/5): - Excellent location, great restaurant nearby, clean nice room, great pools, Bar - pool area was very good, yoga class, and lot of small extra for free or small fee.
Breakfast little poor for fee.
Parking ok.
Very Recomended.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean , comfortable bed, good location. a swimming pool.
Not so great .. the breakfast , rooms are very small
- Verified traveler (10/5): Love this hotel - Amazing
- Katie (6/5): - Selina was beautiful, set in a fab position, I’d recommend if you are staying here a while as you can make the most of the facilities (pool, bar, yoga etc) however if you just need a room I wouldn’t recommend- very basic and expensive compared to other places. Breakfast is additional cost as is yoga.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great vibrant spot with three pools and a sprawling complex. Lots of young people staying there and a lively bar on the weekends.
- Esteban (4/5): - This is a hostel, not a hotel. The cleanliness of the room is terrible, the staff is not good, the rooms are neglected.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - No hair dryer, no ice machine, way too simple. Good for young people. I would pay $50 more for somewhere better.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Let me start off by saying that I liked a lot of the staff members, the security staff, cleaning staff, restaurant and bar staff treated me great and with respect. --HOWEVER-- all it takes is a couple of bad nights and bad experiences to ruin your vacation and I could not wait to get the hell out of the Selina in Manuel Antonio.
I shared a dorm with an employee named Francisca who is the reason I decided to cancel my stay there. While I understand this is a hostel and a beach location, there were multiple nights where she violated the 11pm-7am silence policy, by coming in, turning on the lights waking other guests up, and continuing to have noisy conversations while the other guests want to sleep. This occurred well past midnight and one night past 1:30am on another night. Again, I expect this behavior from guests every now and then, but as professional and employee of the hostel, I was surprised that the "respect your neighbors" rules of Selina were not followed. Instead she kept laughing at their jokes and encouraging them to continue talking, and flipping lights at the expense of the other guests. Again, plenty of patios, sofas and lounge chairs they could have gone to if they wished to converse as a common courtesy instead of bringing the party inside.
For this reason, I cannot recommend the Selina Manuel Antonio to any couples, families, or professionals to stay only to visit. This location has become more of a frat house for 18-20s kids.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I stayed 2 nights here in a standard private room. it was a good room with strong wifi and AC! I participated in the sea turtle release activity they had- it was very cool and unique and made me feel like I was seeing a part of Manuel Antonio not many tourists see. the property seemed safe to me. overall a good experience! Give them a chance. great for backpackers, but also good for people looking for a beautiful hotel.
- Ami (6/5): Private room did not meet expectations. - The reviews for the hostel and pictures for the private room were misleading. I was disappointed by the condition of the room. The bathroom was especially out of date and we didn’t not feel comfy in the room. The reviews for the hostel are good but I think it is because most people stay in dorm rooms that are renovated more frequently.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Fun Property with flexible accommodations options - Had a good stay here–enjoyed the pools and the yoga class in the morning! I went on a Sunday evening so there was a fun crowd and music, but things were not too loud or wild. : ) Nice place!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Perfectly situated, almost inside the forest, yet across the road from restaurants and a 10 minute walk to the beach.
- JENNIFER (8/5): Resort-like hostel in Manuel Antonio - I stayed in a private room with shared shower.. room was basic, but clean and with a comfortable bed with multiple outlets and A/C.
Shared bathroom was basic but shower doors need locks to be fixed - otherwise meets my basic needs.
The resort has multiple pools, most popular one was the one next to the bar and lobby/reception.
One night they had a live band perform Latin music and the following night was karaoke night. Good ambiance and offers good nightlife that ends at 12mn.
Overall, beautiful poperty that also offers wellness activities (yoga for $10) and a "co-work" space for digital nomads.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Hotel has security issues. Property allowed people not staying at the hotel onto the premises who conducted a series of robberies. These people also drugged me, carried me off premises, robbed me and ditched me in the middle of no where. These types of things should not be able to happen at a resort like this.
- Francisco (2/5): Stay away. Terrible staff. Bait and Switch. - I’ll start by saying the hotel and property are very nice and they are really well situated. The pools are great and the grounds are full of animals. We had a really negative experience though. We booked a deluxe room. It was the most expensive room we booked on our entire trip. We drove many hours to get to Manuel Antonio and when we arrived we greeted by a twenty something kid who was really rude. He walked us to our room at the far end of the property with multiple stairs. My wife had a few bags with her and I carried two large suitcases. We had to ask him to slow down multiple times. At no point did he offer to help with our bags. The room was not all like in the booking photo. When we asked why the room was so different and not nearly as nice, they said they only have one room like that even though that’s the example they use. There was no water pressure at all. We asked multiple times to have someone check on it. Finally maintenance came and said they had to turn on a pump and we had water pressure. However when we got back that night from the beach, we had the same issue again. Called the front desk and another twenty something hipster came to tell us he didn’t see a problem. Then it was that 120 people were all showering at once so that’s why there was practically no water coming out of the shower or sink. Then it was the governments fault. Maintenance guy went and turned on the pump and we had water. They messed up our tour booking. We would NOT recommend this place.
- Brian (6/5): Expensive for a 2-star location. - We each got Standard Rooms. Cement floor and shared showers and toilet in the external corridor.
Check in was a challenge. We had booked 2 rooms, 2 nights; and like the couple who checked in ahead of us who had booked a multi-night stay (they thru Expedia) were told that we had to check out at 11am and check in to another room at 3pm as contiguous night stays in the same rooms were not available. They say it is the fault of the 3rd party (Expedia or Hotels.com) who claim availability of multi-night rooms, and not their fault. (same happens to people who think they will be sharing a multi-bed dorm with their friends - it’s not guaranteed). Most ridiculous thing I ever heard. Luckily they were able to keep us in same room.
Rates were very expensive as it was Christmas week. $240/night whereas it’s normally $80. And breakfast not included in the rate.
Otherwise, great location. It’s also the only nightlight option after 10pm in Manuel Antonio so non residents show up at the bar. Plenty of cabs outside who will take you to the beach or to Quepos for c5000.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was amazing staying here!!!! Staff are friendly and the vibe was dope. The parking situation is tandem parking though so be careful about when you plan trips somewhere and u want to leave early - they don’t always have the phone number to the person blocking you!
- Mike (8/5): 2 nights near the beach in OK property - A delightfully arranged property but one with lots of stairs or steep ramps so not ideal for those with mobility challenges. Our room was fine with great AC but a bathroom that needed a good cleaning - expect the sink mirror had not been attended to in some time - also had to ask for toilet paper as the maid forgot ? To leave us with any although that may have been an oversight as it looked like a dispenser was missing from the wall. The staff was young and did not seem equipped to make decisions - ie we arrived around 1:30 and told check in was not until 3 PM so stowed our bags and wondered about the property to get our bearings and see where our room was - ran into the maid who said our room was ready but once back to the desk, told 3pm was the check in regardless... handy location with bus stop right in front of property to a bus right to town or Manual Antonio Nat Park only 75 cents away. All in all would recommend this location for a younger crowd (under 30) as the property seems more geared towards this age group.
- Ricardo (10/5): The best Hostal in Manuel Antonio - was incredible super great atention
- Verified traveler (10/5): Fun stay - Staff is really friendly and the accommodations were good for a hostel. Food and bar was good and surrounding area is amazing.
- scott (10/5): Great time away - The staff is great. They are always welcoming. Plus I love the pools and rooms.
- Elisa (6/5): - Bright side: Hotel landscaping and outside is super cute. Activities like e.g yoga and karaoke. AC worked! But don’t get filled by this!
Negative: everything else! We stayed in private room with shared bathroom. Beds not comfortable. Rooms extremely extremely small. Beds underneath full of spider webs. No table or chair to to put this on like your luggage . We opened our luggage on we put them on floor then packed it away to make room to walk in room. Front desk staff was not friendly nor helpful (all 3 people we seen there throwout stay were not), it was like they hated there job! Bar tenter and restaurant staff were friendly. Restrooms I don’t think were ever cleaned while we were there.
- derrick (10/5): Selina Rocks!! - I loved staying at Selina it was a really great stay! The beauty and location are perfect! But the staff made my stay wonderful! Would highly recommended it!!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - nice place to stay in Manuel Antonio. the staff are friendly and they offer various activities daily.
- WorldTraveler (4/5): - My stay at the hostel was fun, I really enjoyed it’s close proximity to Quepos and Manuel Antonio. I was disappointed to find that most of the bunks have visible traces of bed bugs and the jungle walk, that I’d really looked forward to, was closed. Furthermore, I booked a shuttle from the hostel to get to my next booking at 6:00am. I confirmed with the hostel staff the night before. However, when I go up and checked out I waited for the shuttle. And waited a little longer. Turns out the hostel didn’t ever book it. The staff tried to blame this mistake on me saying I should’ve checked with them, which I did. They eventually resolved this issue by getting me a shuttle almost a day later, making me miss one of my planned activities and my stay at the next hostel. They also tried to charge me again for the shuttle, claiming I never paid for the first one.
- Taylor (8/5): - Close to most things, hostel offered at lot of things also. Pools were great!
- Paul (4/5): Resort style hostel/hotel but minimum security - CON:
Security Breach - A good value of your money if the security can be improved and install back-up power generator to prepare for frequent power outage. The hostel staff broke their own rules by bursting into my room at 1 am with 5 male guests without the required yellow wrist band, waking other guests up with loud noises. One of them, clearly under the hallucinating substance, slept on a female guest's bed and even asked another female guest to sleep with him. I almost got into a fist fight with him. The security guard of the property practically did nothing even when other guests asked them to remove him from the room for an hour. The unruly person could have harmed other guests, potentially causing major international incidents, because the hostel did not follow its own rules. I will be lodging a formal complaint with the General Manager.
Power Outage - 2 out of 3 nights guests experienced power outage, which caused no food and internet services. Hotels.com also should have been more detail in describing properties regarding the availability of backup power generator.
PRO: Friendly staff, Beautiful garden view, Greek-style property, 3 Swimming pools, Great tasting food and beverage, Free water in the lobby, Strong WIFI, Nightly special activities
- Marco (10/5): - The room was very clean and looked good.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It’s a good place to meet people and party. The public areas were clean, the food was good, and the atmosphere was energetic
- Josh (10/5): - Selina staff was vey helpful with an questions about the town and activities. They offer yoga during the morning and afternoon along with an entertainment at night (Latin dance, Pool party etc.) Location is the best. Close to all the beach and restaurants. Public bus picks you up right in front for less than a dollar and takes you all over the town. Selina restaurant was also great and had many vegan options.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Pricey, but worth the experience and close to Manuel Antonio Park.
- Claude (10/5): A great place with a jungle feel and nice people - We could not have choose a better place. Nice property with multiple little buildings of 6 to 10 rooms sprayed on about 1 or 2 acres of lush land. Be prepared to walk up and down many stairs to go around. My room was very quiet with a window, clean with cool A/C and Wifi. There was a common terrace with 2 tables and chairs over looking a large pool. I shared a large bathroom with another adjacent room and there were no inconvenience. The main building at the entrance has a large bar and facilities for breakfast buffet, lunch and small parties / events at night.
- Jon (4/5): - The wifi was on the fritz the entire duration of my stay. The room was about the size of a bed with one window which was a sliding glass door. If the blinds were open, there was absolutely no privacy. There are lots of stairs. Lots and lots of stairs. I had to walk through the porch of my neighbors to get to my room which was awkward at times.
- Cynthia (10/5): Awesome Sauce - It was great! The room was clean, the location was perfect, the staff was lovely! Nice 3 pools, good cocktails! Easy to get around!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Amazing hostel with fun vibes! - Prime location, amazing room, fun activities, great drinks at the bar. Everything exceeded our expectations!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - not reccomanded and please too crowd bb

- SuzukiKio (8/5): Unique & Very Optional Hostel Hotel. - The Selina Manuel Antonio is very unique in that they offer typical dorms for those looking for budget conscious folk and private room options. This location is well situated and has good reputation in the area, the staff is incredible and the clientele by and large during my stay collectively fostered a great sense of community. Offers great food, excellent activities and entertainment!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Hotel was beautiful and super clean. We spoke little Spanish and the staff was friendly and accommodating.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Horrible Staff - Absolutely every employee I interacted with had very poor service. Not friendly, rude, not helpful, forgetful, unwilling to go out of the way to accommodate us. ....... THE ONLY PISITIVE INGERACTION I HAD WAS WITJ FABRICIO AT THE FRONT DESK. HE WAS GREAT, AND I REALLY APPRECIATED HIM.
- Juan (8/5): More of a hotel than a hostel - I booked Selina in the hope of finally liking a hostel stay (beyond price) and because I was looking for quality wifi. It did not disappoint me and now I want to go to other Selinas.
This despite the bathroom. I chose a 4 bed dorm, the one were I stayed had one of 3 pools in front and shared its bathroom not only with another 4 bed dorm but also was used by pool goers and late night parties at the pool. On my first morning the toilet was clogged....
I want to returns, yes! The wifi is lightning fast, I did a hour long vídeo call sitting in one of the many lush gardens. The restaurant is very good with a fair mid range pricing. There was a good fun enviroment.
On my last day I saw the clean up crew using pressure water to clean tje dorm floors and another dorm was undergoing a paiting and general repairs job.
Why do I say it is more hotel? It is huge, with 3 pools more than 30 rooms, it mixes dorms with prívate rooms.
- Yaiza (8/5): Good stay vibes but a bit big for the personal - Had to request a room change as the lights didn't work in mine and they promptly gave me the same category room but in another side of the hotel which were much nicer(seems old and new side) really good receptionist girls!!place is trendy a d good vibes from the bar and restaurant and reception stafff but need to up game especially the tours guy-doesn't help with info just selling tickets and does a poor job.
- Lhasa (8/5): Beautiful hostel, kitchen needs work - Hostel is beautiful. It’s a huge complex with tons of little villas tucked down the hill behind the main building. My dorm was quite far from the front but the staff showed me an easy short cut along the backside of the building which was simple to get back & forth on. Pools were great, food is awesome from their restaurant (but expensive). The bar livens up at night & is definitely the place to be. The kitchen for hostel guests needs some work - no cutting knives, it was sparse in cooking supplies like spatulas, stirring spoons etc. I made it work. My room was great - the bathroom was clean enough although stuffy with all the people showering. AC worked awesome but I had bunk mates that didn’t want it turned on so it became unbearable at night - it would be nice if there were 2 smaller units on each side of the huge dorm room so we could regulate the temps a bit easier. Overall a great stay!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean great atmosphere. Will book there again Had a blast
- Carla (10/5): Great Location surronded by nature - The hotel is just like the pictures. Quality - price is a great deal. We stayed in a Deluxe Room. The Rooms features all we expected including an old vinyl disco player. The restaurante is not sofisticated but offers good dishes. Daily breakfas is good. The place is surronded by exhuberant threes. Expect monkies in your balcony or parrots flying nearby in the afternoons. The pool has a lot of ambience. There are buses that pass by every 20 minutos. For 300 colones (almost 0.5 dolar) you can travel to the Beach or to the nearby town Quepos. You won;t miss a car at all. The place is surronded of great restaurants, bars and other hotels. ATM at walking distance. Once in Manuel Antonio be careful of the tour sellers. The entrante to the Manuel Antonio is just 16 US dollars. The sellers told you that you need to pay a tour, which is 35 USD dollar per person. The tour is just a walk of 2 kms you can easy can do by yourself. No value added at all for the extra 19 USD they charged you.
- Addy (8/5): Great Hostel - It was an awesome stay, but I got constantly bitten by mosquitoes! Bring bug spray and repellent!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel - Nice hotel, beautiful grounds and pools. Food in the restaurant was very good. Only 2 complaints was that it was more of a partying hotel then we were expecting, DJ went until late on Saturday night and the wifi was poor in the room. Overall though it was a good experience.
- Lucian (10/5): Deluxe Hostel - This hostel took over the property from a Mediterranian-style hotel and kept the amenities, while converting the villas into dorms. As such it retained well-landscaped grounds, pools, and restaurant/bar facilities.
Had work to do, so enjoyed using their air conditioned and relatively quiet co-work space. Would have been fun to socialize more- most of the guests in their 20's and enjoying vacations.
- Chris (6/5): Young party crowd - Stayed in the dormitory...not used to it, so it was a new experience. Most people were younger, so I was out of my element. However, most of them were respectful and kind.
- Bernardo (8/5): Nice Hostel - Nice hostel within walking distance of Manuel Antonio Park.
Breakfast was OK.
Service in general was good.
- Chris (10/5): Fun, Artsy, and Lovely Hotel with Friendly Staff - We had a great time at the Selina. The property is set in a lovely location with ocean and jungle views. The facility landscaping is picturesque with abundant wildlife about. There is an artsy flair about the entire hotel. The staff is super friendly and helpful.
- Mike (8/5): Great place for parent(s) with college age kids. - It is designed as a hotel and was extremely well organized with security. The deluxe area was designed as more private area costing as such. Some simple things in this area was needed in the rooms like refridg or maybe a sound system to connect to a smartphone.
