Guest Reviews

- ceange (10/5): - 💯💯💯
- Alix (9/5): Warm onthaal, authentiek verblijf nabij Douai!

- Vikki (8/5): Friendly owners who helped recommend a local restaurant, lovely continental breakfast and clean rustic accommodation as - Beautiful old farm with lots of charm and 2 lovely dogs greeted us on arrival. Great stop over in pretty village on our way from interlaken to Calais As it has old stairs it was a little noisy when an adjacent room arrived late. Also the bathroom could do with some new silicone on the shower as it was old and black. (But clean)
- christian (7/5): Bien - Très bien Tv trop petite
- Lucy (8/5): Stunning fires with wonderful host! - Lovely family room with very comfortable (firm) beds, lovely host and exceptional breakfast. The property was wonderful but the only option for dinner was a frites van nearby.
- Stephane (10/5): -
- Philippe (8/5): Bel endroit, super accueil.

- Corinne (8/5): - Accueil chaleureux
- Niall (1/5): Not up to standards. Would like a refund. - A few points to make here.
- Sadly the family room was incredibly unclean. Dusty, mouldy, unchanged bedding, rank toilet and shower.
- The blankets provided are not duvets but layers of throws - not convinced they were clean.
- Bedside lamps did not work.
- The children’s cot is 40/50 years old and does not meet today’s safety standards. How is this even still in use?
- Dog poop on the grass outside the main entry.
- Breakfast was not as previous reviews describe. Our family of four were given four croissants, rotting grapes, rotting pears and some cheese. A dog came into the breakfast room also.
- We booked this place based on previous reviews but I suspect these may not be as authentic as they appear.
- Patrick (10/5): Great location stayed here a few times - Great location for on the way to the UK. About 8km off the motorway and in a really nice rural location. Nothing

- Patrick (10/5): A very relaxing and enjoyable stay in a lovely property with very welcoming and helpful hosts..! - Very friendly and accommodating hosts, who facilitated our very late arrival with no concerns. Beautiful property with ample and secure off road parking. Delicious breakfast and comfy beds. We will definitely be back another time soon, grand merci..!

- Mark (10/5): Comfy stopover/base to explore from - East going informative and entertaining host. Secure parking in an historic building.
- Victoria (8/5): Very good -
- Liudmyla (10/5): Excellent place - A wonderful place to stay overnight. The hosts were welcoming and provided excellent service. In the morning, we were treated to a delicious breakfast that was beautifully presented. An excellent place—I highly recommend it!

- Joan-hwa (9/5): Superb -
- Lynda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tom (10/5): Beautiful old farm with cosy rooms and great host! - So welcoming, very welcoming and cosy. Breakfast could have perhaps had a little more variety, but everything provided was delicious!
- Benoit (10/5): Beautiful farmhouse on the way to the South. - Beautifully decorated typical northern France Farm building, very comfortable bed room ideal for a family of 4 (and a dog), very warmly welcomed and looked after and incredible breakfast, what’s not like. The location is charming but very random. Great for a night break for a trip to southern France/ Europe but only if you are ready to leave the main roads and venture in French countryside for a little while.
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Paolo (8/5): Very good -
- Angela (10/5): Fabulous overnight stop, delicious breakfast, friendly staff - Very clean, lovely room, very friendly and helpful staff
- William (10/5): Most welcoming and memorable experience... a true gem not to be missed! - Very caring, kind and welcoming hosts. Very supportive during our time of need. Lovely place with amazing breakfast and beautiful garden, stable and church. High ceilings, peaceful and comfortable... it was a perfect place for us to recharge and plan our next move. Nothing.
- Katja (8/5): Beautiful old farmhouse with friendly welcoming. - In the countryside in beautiful setting, very charming. Familyfeel with caring owners. Good parking and good for dogs. Nice conversation for breakfast. A bit off beat for dinner, there was a foodtruck in the village for burgers and fries. We drove to the next town.
- Christopher (9/5): Superb - Delightful quiet comfortable location with charming hosts. Very good breakfast and an excellent recommendation for dinner.
- Terry (10/5): Exceptional - lovely people and place :)
- Fiona (9/5): Great stop about 2 hours from Eurotunnel. - Friendly, charming location on old farm, with stabled horses in barns. Good breakfast before resuming our journey to the Alps. -
- Callie (10/5): Exceptional - The staff were incredibly kind and accommodating, the property is extremely charming and well-maintained!
- Meganstar (9/5): Unique farm/ courtyard setting with charming owners and comfortable rooms - This was our second stay at this hotel. It is mainly a working farm but they provide unique and comfortable rooms for guests. Monsieur and Madame are absolutely charming and will go out of their way to help guests. They are very relaxed and easy to talk to. As they don't provide evening meals, they told us about a charming but busy restaurant in a nearby town. We enjoyed this restaurant very much. We enjoyed our stay and it met our expectations very well.
- Anonymous (6/5): Perhaps a little tired - Breakfast was very good and the host was very friendly and helpful It is a working farm with horses - the accommodation seemed very old and tired and in need of some redecoration.
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional - Rooms were spotless and staff fantastic.. A bit rural and there were no cafes or shops nearby but didn't matter to us..
- Jim (9/5): Great homely overnight stop to and from Le Shuttle - The friendly welcome, the relaxed atmosphere, the lovely courtyard, the dogs, the new foal, the great breakfast.
- Andrew (9/5): Superb - wonderful breakfast with home made jams, fresh croissants and in a lovely period dining room. Great hotel for the family. Great to stay in a lovely independent place. Nothing
- Lynne (9/5): Superb -
- Maritta (7/5): Good - It is a very pretty location on a farm. With horses, dogs and beautiful colors in a scenery with a beautiful old church across in a tiny village (with a great snackbar!). If you like romantic this is your place, therefore the use as a wedding location makes alot of sense.
The room itself was a bit musty, probably due to old carpet and fabrics. The breakfast to me seemed tipically French with good bread, butter and jams and a good french cheese. For my Greek man the breakfast was a bit tiny and he was disappointed by the lack of meat. The welcome was a bit odd as the owner seemed startled by our arrival and large dog (because her dogs keep the territory). She warmed up slowly and in the end gave us a map and tips for neighboring Arras.
- Travellers (9/5): Very nice - Nice place to stay, very old building and we were made to feel at home. Breakfast was nice. Car parking convenient. Kids got to see some champion horses in the stables. The town itself was closed when we came (5.30pm) which was a pity as we enjoy pubs/cafes etc.
- John (9/5): Very friendly and helpful owner - quiet location - comfortable bed - great breakfast! - Very friendly and helpful owner - quiet location - comfortable bed - great breakfast!
- Juergen (10/5): a great find off the beaten track - rooms are add ons in a horse farm, wonderful hosts, great breakfast (croissants!) on communal table, perfect for dog (if he can climb stairs)
- Odile (10/5): Perfect place to stop for a restful night! - This is the second time I have stayed here (the first time was more than a year ago) so I was quite surprised (and very pleased) the Fanny remembered me.
I love how La Ferme de la Sensée is so peaceful and how breakfast is served on one big communal table as this allows you to chat with the other guests. The breakfast is plentiful and delicious too!
If you like horses, this is also the place to stop as they have horses and they are happy for you to go and see them.
For me La Ferme de la Sensée is the perfect stop after having crossed the Channel and before heading off to my next destination.
- Andrzej (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing location- very, very, very quiet. Hosts were always helpful and friendly. Plus, owners' dogs, wow, two lovely dogs demanding butt scratches:)
- Hannah (9/5): A lovely stop over - felt very authentic in a beautiful farm in a pretty village - Beautiful, lovely large room, great breakfast, friendly staff
- Karen (6/5): Pleasant - The location For the price I think the room could have been a higher standard
- Johan (7/5): Great place with very dated bathroom - Very pretty location. The family room looked stunning. The breakfast was basic, but good. The bathroom was extremely dated and in a bad shape. Moulded silicon sealant all over the place and cracked tiles.
- Meganstar (8/5): Charming and unique with a lovely hostess - This is an absolutely charming set of farm buildings set in a small village. Don't expect high end corporate hotel facilities but do expect a most picturesque and idiosyncratic stay. The main building is set in a courtyard and our room overlooked this. The room was large, airy and comfortable The hostess is wonderful and made us feel so welcome. She provides a well provisioned breakfast which is laid out in a large dining room. There are some lovely walks nearby and we spent a good hour doing a circuit with our dog which is labelled an eco-walk - very relaxing after our drive from Calais. The Ferme does not do meals but Madame gave us some good recommendations in the nearby town of Douai. There could have been better tea and coffee making facilities in the room itself. But this is a small complaint compared to the overall experience.
- Veronica (8/5): Good stopover on the road, with lovely hosts! - Usually, we stop in Arras on our way back from Brittany to Germany - this time, there was a huge concert there, taking up all the hotel rooms, so we looked for another place to stay, not too far away. While the village is nondescript, the Ferme de la Sensée is absolutely lovely with lots of romantic photo opps, and absolutely lovely, too, are the owners. The rooms are spacious and well equipped, tastefully and beautifully decorated in 'the typical French way'. Mattress comfortable, bathroom clean. Dogs welcome - the owners have two themselves. Nice French breakfast and a very pleasant chat over breakfast with the owners who, a.o. things, breed horses and run weddings. The village itself is 'sans plus', as the French say. And in order to find a restaurant, you will have to drive a stretch. We bought stuff at the supermarket and had a little dinner 'al fresco' in the Ferme's beautiful courtyard on garden furniture that is already out there - and the owners were happy to provide dishes, cutlery, and ice cubes for our drinks.
- David (10/5): Exceptional - Very quiet and relaxing with a lovely host and a super breakfast.
- Nicholas (10/5): Lovely surroundings and welcoming hosts - Lovely stay in a beautiful location. Very welcoming and friendly hosts. Breakfast was great, exactly what we needed for an early start. Only wish we could have spent more time. Quaint little town / village with some nice places to walk the dogs.
- Fiona (10/5): Lovely family run escape. - beautiful house and setting, very quiet, a peaceful haven.
- Richard (7/5): Good - lovely large room with very comfortable beds.
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional - Great breakfast, comfortable room, a very good stopover. No restaurants nearby
- Tiffany (6/5): A good night’s stopover - Friendly host and comfy bed! We slept well and enjoyed a pleasant breakfast. This historic and picturesque property has certainly seen better days and sadly looked somewhat neglected. The bathroom and curtains/decor were well past their best. Some proper glasses instead of paper cups in the bedroom would have been nice too. But it was not an expensive stay and we met some lovely fellow guests at breakfast!
- Davide (1/5): Bad - Nothing Dirty
Unsecure
Steep stairs
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christopher (7/5): Click click. - Nice simple but classic room + bathroom, both were quite spacious. Nice breakfast, cute buildings, friendly owners + dog. Nice nearby walking trail. Bathroom has air trapped in the piped resulting in a clicking noise, not audible from the bedroom, but while having a bath it was annoying, likewise you can hear people from a neighbouring room when in the bathroom. (But not bedroom, so not tooooo annoying!)
- Susan (10/5): truly lovely - such a beautiful property in a lovely village, warm welcome for us and our dog. room is warm and spacious with comfortable bed. bath and shower are good sized and very welcome after a long day. the hosts are friendly and generous with their home and conversation. their dogs Nina and Luca are adorable too! all was good
- Bald-head (9/5): This was a pit stop as i was going south, but i intend to return and explore the area - The setting was beautiful, out hosts were very welcoming and helpful with local information. I will defiantly stay there again nothing
- Marc (9/5): Superb - Comfortable room, great night's sleep. Very friendly owner, good breakfast.
- Price (8/5): Very good -
- Timothy (9/5): Very friendly and helpful!! - Very nice breakfast with home-made jams.
- Bill (9/5): Beautiful old farm, friendly owner and spacious - Historic and charming building nicely converted to accommodation, very spacious.
- Laurie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sibylle (8/5): Very charming and unconventional B&B at a great price. - The B&B is a little off the beaten track but a very charming and special place. The old farm house has been renovated very nicely and tastefully, the rooms were very clean and it was great value for money. Hard to say. You need a car to get to a restaurant in the evening. And there were little things missing, like water glasses. Our room did not have a key. The owner promised to bring one but did not. We decided not to ask again, but I am sure we would have got one if we had insisted.
