Carol (10/5): Lovely rural hotel - Lovely place to stay in the heart of the square, stayed here before easy but efficient check in, we had a courtyard room 27 prefer this to hotel as I’m not good with stairs, it was very quiet lovely queen bed & bathroom contain a separate bath & shower nice decorated, we had an evening meal in the dining room which you need to book in advance with relatives the food was delicious. The breakfast service next morning was delivered by Chris & (sorry forgot their name), what a team they were brilliant they pandered to our ever need nothing too much trouble they were friendly too.

A (10/5): Perfect for a short stay in beautiful North Yorks. - Great location to visit Masham and the surrounding area. Everything you need for a short break ,including a reasonably priced restaurant and bar . Staff in all areas were very friendly and helpful.

Adam (6/5): - 3rd time I have stayed here so must be getting something right! The lovely, helpful and responsive staff make a very positive contribution. The food is okay for the price and plenty of options to raise the bar (and the price) nearby. Parking no more than 1 minute walk from your room. Same for 50KWh EV chargers if required. If you’re missing your oat milk flat white….it’s a 2 minute walk to the cafe in the corner of the square.

C M (10/5): A warm welcome at the Kings Head Masham - We had a lovely time staying at The Kings Head in Masham. It was a very welcoming place to stay. Both the breakfast and dinner menus were plentiful with great choices to choose from. We stayed in a large outside room that had king size bed which was very comfortable. The bathroom had a bath with a shower.

M (10/5): Boys Walking Break. - My friends and I had a great three nights at the King's Head. The accommodation was good with a sizable and clean room. The breakfast was great with a lot of variety. We ate in the restaurant twice during our stay and the menu was varied and quality was good. The hotel bar serves a wide selection of spirits and wine and the beer from the two local breweries was excellent.

Verified traveler (6/5): - We’ve stayed here several times in the last few years as it’s a great base. The room was good, quiet and comfortable. The staff were friendly however they were met with difficult conditions. As one of the only places to eat in the village the hotel had run out of over half of the menu. This caused a few issues for many of the guests as it wasn’t communicated until you tried to order. On check out day we discovered that the lock mechanism on our door was faulty and we were unfortunately locked into the room. The phone number provided wasn’t manned so we were left with trying to get someone’s attention by banging on a window (which also wouldn’t open) Finally someone came and managed to get the door open. Once downstairs there were no staff to speak to other than a waitress in the restaurant area. In all a bit of a disappointing few days stay at the hotel.

AnneMarie (8/5): A friendly welcome - Great setting and a well appointed hotel. Very friendly staff and the breakfast team was particularly welcoming. The breakfast itself was excellent and whilst the evening meal was good it was also over priced. The room was comfortable and clean and we overlooked the village square which made for a pleasant view. The shower was not the strongest but the fluffiness of the towels made up for this blip. The decor was a little shabby in places but nothing that spoiled the trip.

Maria (10/5): - 4th visit to Kings Head as we love Masham. We were in the rooms to the rear of the hotel which were spacious and clean. Lovely hot chocolate, border biscuits and mini green and black chocolate were lovely touches along with the tea selection and fresh coffee bags. We didn't eat at Kings Head but had a nice pint in there to finish the evening. Love Masham and this is our regular play to stay there. Amble free car parking in the market sq it borders.
Russell (10/5): Upgrade needed - Welcome, room, food and bar area are all good. Staff are friendly, attentive and helpful. The whole building just needs some care and attention - looking dated. Redecorating throughout especially in public areas is long over due and if you look closely a deep clean in the high use areas is needed.

Food was ok but dishes not available and a real variance in quality/quantity. Once a refresh and refurb in place, then will be a great place to stay again in the future. Handy for the Theakstone and Black Sheep breweries, plus other lovely pubs in the village. Staff were all very nice and helpful, Chris and Gaye at breakfast were magic. Great place to stay.

Brian (8/5): Not too good - Had a two night stay in July they put in the small annex to the rear of the main building, dont advise its where dog owners are put(we didnt have a dog) so dont know why we ended up there. The main bed room was ok but the bathroom was poor cracked tiles paint peeling off the walls and the wash basin gad two hairline cracks in the basin and the taps were loose. The cleaning staff came in but didnt clean room only updated tea and coffee, staff were ok but not over friendly. Wouldnt go back.

Stuart (4/5): Disappointing. - We booked this hotel having stayed at Greene King hotels in the past and enjoyed the food etc . We booked 8 weeks in advance and received an email 8 days before arriving there would be no food and kitchen was closed in evenings !!! To Cap it all they refused to let me pay by cash and I had to get a fellow traveller to pay my bill. Needless to say I won't be back.

Karen (8/5): - Very friendly and efficient service, particularly at breakfast with 'double act' Gaye & Chris, making everyone feel welcome. Very nice room overlooking the market place, room and bathroom thoroughly cleaned every day, coffee & biscuit supplies replenished every day. The only minor niggle was that there was no 'slow-close' on the door at the bottom of the stairs, so quite noisy throughout the evening with guests' comings and goings. Recommended, would stay there again if in the area, very good value for money, excellent breakfasts

Pauline (10/5): - Staff were very friendly, room was clean and tidy. Think they must have been short of staff in the kitchen as we were booked in for an 8.30 evening meal and meal arrived at 9.30. The next morning breakfast, we went down for 9am hoping to be served reasonably quickly. 9.25 we decided to have cereal and toast, 9.30 someone came to take our order but we didn't have time to wait as we were meeting friends at 10am. However the next morning we were seen quickly and enjoyed a full English breakfast. Would definitely visit the hotel again.

Verified traveler (8/5): Lovely stay yet again - Stayed here on a couple of occasions before and always been great. Service is excellent, food amazing and courtyard rooms are lovely. This time when we arrived we were given our room key however the room hadn't been turned around from the previous guests (bed unmade, bin full, towels on floor). This actually didn't bother us as we gathered we'd just been given the wrong room key. Issue easily fixed and we were given a new room straight away. Room was lovely and clean, comfy, warm. Our only slight feedback would be that when our friends arrived and were given their own room, although both couples had paid the same rate, their room was much much larger and more 'grand'. This could be a matter of opinion but our stay was lovely regardless and it wouldn't deter us from staying again.
paul (8/5): Xmas break - I'd like to start by saying that the staff were great. As i'd injured my leg they changed our room, so less stairs to climb. Room 4, a large room at the front but a very uneven floor, not ideal for people with poor mobility. Bed was also to small, found our sleep compromised via trying not to roll out. Having stayed here before, didn't meet our expectations. A good choice for breakfast (Chris and Gay a delight in the morning) and good standard of evening dining.

Thoroughly enjoyed our very short stay but would definitely revisit.

Christopher (4/5): Not a happy Experience - On arrival we were met by a receptionist who gave my travelling companion the wrong room key and then accused my firiene of being unable to use it!! Obly when the recptionist herself try to open the room with the key did she acknowledge - but not apologise for - she had given her the wrong room number! We were unable to dine at the hotel due to staff shortages but this cannot be held against the hotel. The reception staff were far from welcoming however. In the morning I struggles to turn on my shower and failed completely in trying to turn it off. I was told be reception staff - a different woman that I wasn't doing it right!!! The breakfast staff were pleasant and welcoming but the breakfast itself was very poor - bacon and sausage were overcooked and had cearly been stood for some time whilst the mushrooms were stone cold! I will not be staying here again which is a pity as the room itself was very pleasant.
