- Teresa (8/5): Quiet and Comfortable Stay - This small hotel was in a quiet location outside the beach town of Puerto Morelos. The rooms were comfortable, however, the beds were suspended from the ceiling, which some people may find uncomfortable. The buffet style breakfast was good. There was the option of preparing eggs yourself, which we did. The kitchen was also available for guests to store (in the fridge) and to prepare your own food at other times of the day. The hotel had bicycles that guests could borrow to ride into town.

El desayuno incluido en parte es “hágalo usted mismo”, si quieres un par de huevos pues te los debes de preparar tú mismo, ahí te proporcionan todo lo necesario, insumos, trastes y cocina. 2. El área de playa podría estar con más atención, pues si bien es sabido que es zona de sargazo, encontramos algo de basura y pedazos de vidrio en la arena. El personal muy amable y atento a las solicitudes que se les hacen. 3. Las habitaciones podrían estar mejor iluminadas, hay una o dos luminarias con focos de baja potencia. Regresaríamos? Si, definitivamente si.
- Viet (8/5): - Rancho is a beach side B&B that is the perfect for travelers looking for a tranquil place to relax next to a quiet tropical beach with white sand and hammocks hanging from your patio or under a beach palapa. Some positive points: *Beachside location. *Drinking water dispenser in room. *Daily breakfasts that included fresh fruits, fresh orange juice, coffee/tea, cereals, bread, and eggs (which you cook for yourself). *Free snorkeling equipment (although the water in front of Rancho was not great for snorkeling). *Quiet beach area (although not great for swimming either). *Communal kitchen to store or cook your food, with basic cooking items provided (ie, oil, spices, salt, sugar, pots, pans, utensils, etc.). *Friendly staff. *Interesting hanging bed & hammocks in covered patio in front of room. *Beautiful tropical garden environment. *Bikes provided for guests. Some negative points: *Facilities were basic & water pressure for shower or sink was very weak. *Property was about a 25 minutes walk to downtown, some of which is along a major road with no shoulder or street lights. Not advisable to walk or bike after sunset. *Only 1 restaurant in close vicinity. *No staff to help with luggage. If not for its location by the sea, I'd give this place 3 stars.

In a sea of utter chaos and overdevelopment along the Mayan coast, it is a quiet little paradise that really felt like the “chill” experience we were seeking. Our room was lovely, the staff were so helpful, and the breakfast and kitchen access were wonderful; we only had 4 days so didn’t take full advantage of that but it is a great option if you’re able to stay for a while. It is not the most beautiful beach spot around but for that ideal you’d pay 3x the price and the overall atmosphere is just lovely. Since the whole area is past a military check point it all felt incredibly safe, and is a quick zip to town as well. Nice to see a place like Sak-Ol still exists after all the change in that area. Thanks for a great stay!

- Anna (10/5): - Sak-Ol Ranch is a stunning place away from the noise. We found this hotel by chance and are very happy. Pristine nature, beautiful apartments, private beach, delicious fruit and attentive staff made our vacation amazing. Very clean and cozy. We are very grateful to the female employees for their comfort and attention. We will definitely recommend to friends and look forward to our next vacation to visit this ranch. Our ocean view room was amazing and we fell in love with it and Mexico at first sight.

- Noel (6/5): no posee playa solo vista y esta muy lejos de todo - el hotel en si no esta mal, esta limpio y apunta a ser un lugar netamente de descanso. no se puede hacer playa alli, a pesar de que esta frente al mar no es un lugar apto para baños y ademas cuando fuimos habia mucho sargazo y mal olor y por ultimo si no vas en auto el lugar esta en sitio tipo reserva ecologica privada, esta alejado y solo puedes moverte en taxi, no hay nada cerca.

- Bernard (10/5): - What a unique and beautiful place! Rooms are clean and staff is super friendly and helpful. Breakfast is delicious. It is located just under a mile south of the center of Puerto Morelos where you will find a beautiful public beach, snorkeling, shopping and many amazing restaurants. Strongly recommend borrowing the free bicycles to get back and forth - so much fun! Honestly wouldn't want to stay anywhere else!
- Long (8/5): - This is the second time we stay at Rancho Sak-ol. This is not a place for everyone due to it's secluded location and a bit inconvenient when you need to go to town. However it is exactly what we're looking for. It's like going to a retreat with our very own private beach. We were here during the rain season so we had to time our activities a little bit. The upstairs 20 feet from the beach is great. It has enough breeze during the hot day that you can relax watching boats passing by. It also has great wi-fi signal. It's even better than what we have in all-inclusive hotel in Cancun we stayed. Overall, you need to know what you want to get out of your vacation before booking this hotel. You could either have a really relaxing time or bad time if you have the wrong expectations. Do your homework.
- Marianne (4/5): - This property is unique and quirky and has potential but it needs a lot of TLC. It’s no frills, very basic. The bathroom is unappealing. The breakfast is the same everyday and if you want eggs you have to make them yourself. The kitchen is very old and needs a good cleaning. The location is nice because it’s on the water but you need to either take a taxi or ride a bike into town if you don’t have a car. Definitely NOT worth the money I paid. Wouldn’t go back.
- Terri (4/5): - The property was tucked away off of a main road. You can easily get lost. There was barely any room for parking. There was no easy access to the beach. Very hot and sticky feeling. A/C unit and fan didn't work well or give off much air. The room door is simply a screen with a key. All of the area's small creatures and wildlife have access to your room. There's no TV or other source of entertainment once it gets dark. Wi-fi was spotty. If you want to stay in a tree house while on vacation, this is the perfect place. If you don't mind hard/rough towels, also, the place for you. If you wanted food after 10a, you have to purchase, cook, and clean for yourself. I was told I could share a refrigerator w/the staff b/c the other 3 were broken. Checked in and checked out same day. I asked for a partial refund and still haven't received a response.

- Verified traveler (8/5): Very nice but not walkable to town - Nice staff. Can't walk in the beach into Puerto Morales because of the port. You either have to bike or drive in on a dark slightly dangerous road (risk of getting hit by a car). The beach in front of the hotel was so-so. They have a common kitchen area which was super nice. Breakfast is from 8-10 and they don't really make any exceptions if you have to leave earlier. The fridge and kitchen is open 7a-10p and again they make no exceptions if you need to get stuff out of the fridge before or after that. The room was nice, had a bed that was suspended on ropes! Nice bathroom. Spacious rooms.

- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very cozy & rustic (in a nice way) loft. Room was clean and spacious. Loved that the location was very isolated & no people around (except for the ones at the hotel). They have a kitchen and in the mornings, the ladies put out everything from fruits, yogurt, cereals, eggs, oranges & the squeezer for you to prepare & cook (they wash the dishes). They also have a refrigerator where you can bring and leave your food in in case you want to bring bacon or other goods. I've stayed in many properties in Puerto Morelos, this was a one of a kind. It is a little distance from town (about 1/2+ mile or so) they do lend you for free bicycles, which most hotels do not. When the time comes, more likely I will be staying at this hotel again.

- Dave (10/5): - Rancho Sak-Ol, despite the funny name, was a hidden gem. The upstairs room was clean and simple. Guests need to come up front to the beachside pulapa for breakfast, which was awesome, and to see the beach which is essentially private as it is a long way from Pto. Morelos and the big resorts to the south. The sargassum was bad and the water unswimmable due to rocks and weeds. Lots of bikes to borrow and you can ride them on the beach in Pto. Morelos. I would stay here again.

- Karen (10/5): - Very unique hotel. Extremely clean and quiet. If you are looking for a luxury resort with a ton of amenities this is not the place for you. However, this IS the place for you if you want a comfortable, secure spot right on the beach to relax and use as a home base for exploring the area that has everything you need: a large, very clean and well-equipped kitchen at your disposal with breakfast food provided, bikes for getting around (a super fast and easy ride into town), beach gear (towels, water shoes, snorkel equipment), helpful staff, clotheslines to hang wet towels and bathing suits, and a great common area with useful items like sunscreen, aloe, travel guides, and books. The beach at the hotel isn't a great place to swim, as it's rocky and there was a lot of seaweed. But there was a great breeze so it was comfortable to sit seaside without overheating. There is a swimming beach in town. Also, as with any tropical location, you might encounter bugs or other critters even indoors. We had no trouble with mosquitoes. I would definitely go back and would recommend it to my adventurous friends.

The beach is not great for swimming and snorkeling, due to rocks, but it is an easy bike to the main beach in PM. I loved the breakfast, and the hammocks on the balconies and at the beach.

- Stephanie (8/5): Puerto Morelos- Rancho Sak-ol - Charming accommodations. I would have preferred a cabin that wasn't directly on the driveway and was a little disappointed with the view. When electing a more expensive "beach front" view, I was expecting the beach to be directly in front. Instead I was kind of off to the side with a view of some ocean, but also an ugly metal fence and driveway. I would have loved to be able to walk along the beach to the town, but was very appreciative of the bicycles available for use. They were in great condition and town was just a few minutes away. I was a little disappointed by the condition of the beach, but at no fault to the owners of the hotel. I like to run in the morning and the beach was not a very good option; instead I was relegated to running on the road. Breakfast was great- lots of fresh fruit, fresh squeezed juice, yoghurt, cereal, bread, eggs and lots more. Although my room was advertised as sleeping 3 people, it would have been extremely crowded. I found it quite suitable for one person. As there was nowhere to keep clothing, other than about 7 hangers I used the single bed as storage for my things. Perhaps some hooks or drawers? Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. I found the photos to be accurate representations of the facility, with the exception of the "ocean view" from my room. Although I enjoyed my stay overall, I will likely not return to Puerto Morelo- just not enough to see and do (compared to other areas of Mexico I am familiar with).
- holy smoke (2/5): avoid it at all costs - I arrived with my husband at this god forgotten place on earth and we literally run away, because this so called hotel is a spider hole! Like literally! Never seen nothing more dirty, creepy and bugs crawl everywhere! Coming straight out from a horror movie! Plus it’s hidden in the jungle, and so sketchy, no one speaks English and the girl who is at the front desk is so rude and when she finally understood that we didn’t want to stay there, she started yelling all sort of bad things in Spanish. End of story. Stay away!

- Julia (10/5): A little piece of paradise on the Riviera Maya - Rancho Sak-Ol is a jewel of the Mayan Riviera. My husband and I so enjoyed that there are only 13 rooms. The staff were lovely and friendly. The breakfasts were terrific, and the kitchen facilities available for preparing lunch and supper are excellent. It’s a very private hotel and It is only a twenty minute walk from Puerto Morelos. We would come back again and will recommend the hotel to everyone we know.

- Maddy (8/5): Cozy place tucked away from the crowd - If you are looking for a quiet place right in front of the ocean, this is for you. And even though it is located away from the crowd, the town is just a few minutes drive. The only thing that could have been better is the bathrooms. Not that they were not clean - its just that everything looked worn down & ready to break. A special mention about the staff - they were very polite and went out of their way to make our stay a great experience.

All areas of the inn are 'eat off the floor' clean. Beach is small but clean, although better for snorkeling then swimming as there are many rocks.

Hammocks at each room and some on the beach.Giant indoor swing on sandy part of dining room. Air conditioner and fan were nice options. Bugs weren't a problem in th eroom and lots of iguana and other stuff outside.

- Inez (10/5): Perfect unpretentious retreat! - We were greeted by cheerful receptionists that proved to be consistently cherry and helpful throughout our 4 night stay. Our upper level bungalow had a view of the sea which I enjoyed for hours while relaxing in a hammock on the covered deck. The community kitchen has a big refrigerator for guests to stow their supplies, and is very well stocked with dishes, cookware, and seasonings, making it easy to prep any meal you didn't want to go into town for. Breakfast is provided by establishment. Several bikes are available for guests to use for the short ride (maybe 1/2 mile) into town. Snorkeling equipment is available also. The common area has a nice covered deck adjacent to the beach. If you're looking for a relaxing getaway where you can truly chill while not even fussing about what to wear, this is perfect! It was the perfect place to relax and at a bargain price compared to most properties right on the beach.
