Ayabulela (3/5): Unhygienic - I saw a rat in the main house on the first night. The staff told me " You're the only one that has seen this rat". I was scheduled to stay for 3 nights. I was not comfortable staying there so I left. I requested a refund. The owner has ignore this request
Gemma (3/5): - The one genuine highlight was the shuttle service — the driver was kind and professional. Unfortunately, our stay did not meet basic expectations, especially given the price of the room. The room had a strong damp smell and was not properly cleaned - the toilet seat was even loose. We arrived to find our door had been left wide open and due to the farm area with snakes and spiders, this felt unsafe (we suspect it was done to try air out the damp smell). No water was provided in the room on arrival, which is a serious issue in Johannesburg where tap water is not safe to drink. It was only after we left for the evening that staff entered our room and left bottled water — without any prior communication. A hairdryer was listed as an amenity on Booking.com but was not in the room — we had to call the manager to request one. The rooms looked nothing like the photos advertised online. The cleanliness was bad enough that we didn't feel comfortable eating breakfast, as we were concerned about the hygiene of the kitchen too. For the price paid, this was simply not acceptable. In terms of staff, the manager was somewhat pleasant, but another staff member was noticeably rude and unhelpful. Sadly, we would not return or recommend this guest house.
Julie (9/5): The staff were brilliant and the food was great. - The breakfast was top notch Perhaps the furniture could be painted to make it look new. It must have been stunning when it was first decorated. But only inexpensive upgrades because value for money is more important. The key for the french door for the one room was unavailable and it would have been lovely to open up to the garden. Small thing that would been nice.

Zandi (8/5): Lovely hidden gem - The place is a hidden gem in an unexpected location. Property is picturesque and we had a lovely (and huge) room that was very clean and comfortable. There was no ask too big or small for Sonia and her entire team. In fact there was very little we even needed to ask. Their service was outstanding. Definitely going back there again!

Noluyolo (7/5): NEEDS PROPER MAINTENANCE - The staff are the friendliest ever. Especially Brian and Sonia. They all serve with a smile. The grounds are beautiful. The place is quiet. Breakfast is the same everyday. The place needs proper maintenance inside. Like curtain fixing. Dusting of the beams inside. The WiFi was not working all the time. Electricity is on and off. I'm not sure about the four star rating!!

Kerri (8/5): Great Overnight Stay - Great location and lovely property. The staff are super friendly and very helpful, had a great experience for an overnight accommodation. Some things in the room need a bit of repair and should be replaced such as the rubber seals on the shower door and the shower head. Maybe put in a mosquito net to assist with the bugs dropping from the ceiling. but did not ruin my stay.

So cool. - I loved Trust he was the best host ever and there was another lady they really went out of their way to make us comfortable and feel at home. The only thing was when I knelt down to plug in my phone charger next to the bed there were spider webs in my face lol, so a daily dust would be great. Then the other thing was there was not suitecase stand so my bag was on the floor I did not want to put it on that lovely chair and then the coffee station had spills on the wall behind it I only saw it because my bag was on the floor, the shower was not really hot water so I did not take a bath although I prepared bath salts in my travel bag.

The staff was friendly, even went the extra mile and prepared our bed for us, the sprigs of lavender and little chocolate were extremely thoughtful, the aircon was kept at moderate temperature and we came back to a warm room. The breakfast in the morning was absolutely tasty. Overall, good overnight stay. The one ply tissues in the bathroom 😂
Kathy (10/5): Excellent stay with great value for money! - Monchique was easy to find; well sign posted. We arrived late afternoon but were warmly welcomed. The room was great, clean and lovely towels. Breakfast included was a huge bonus and delicious. All the staff were excellent! Getting to the wedding venue at a closeby estate was easy with the shuttle service! I highly recommend Monchique to any visitors wanting something wonderful and real value for money!
Corinne (6/5): It was average. - The staff was welcoming and very nice You need to replace aircons and fix plug sockets at the venue as well as replace some of your mosquito plugs. Some of the hairdryers over hear and smells like fire when you use it. Time for replacement.

The furnishing and overall aesthetic of the guest house is beautiful. There were spiders in the bathroom, the rooms were said to be soundproof and have pool views but we could hear the neighbours and they probably heard us as well. The view we had was of the driveway & back garden.

Dina (7/5): A comfortable stay, but unfortunately not a 'luxury' stay. - Conveniently close to wedding venues, a mostly peaceful area, safe and gated parking, friendly welcome and check-out, a comfortable bed with crisp clean linen, and air conditioning. Unfortunately, the room did not meet the 'luxury' expectations promised due to several small but important details, such as hard single-ply toilet paper, unattractive exposed plumbing and waste pipes in the bathroom, lack of coffee sachets, a small roof leak near the armchair, the need for a suitcase rack or bench to rest an overnight bag on, somewhat worn blinds, a long-stagnant water fountain in the courtyard, and several similar small quick-fixes and details that require attention to justify the 'luxury' description.

Carina (8/5): Convenient for a one night stay if you have to attend a wedding in the area. - The room was a comfortable size and it had an airconditioner. The breakfast was very good and the service was also excellent. It was close to the wedding venue that we needed to go to and offered a shuttle but we did not utilise the service. The check-out process took longer than necessary because they were not aware of the fact that I paid a 50% deposit (as per their request). There was a big spider in the room and although I didn't see a squirrel, I'm sure that there were squirrels (or something like that) in the room during the night. There were also mosquitos.

We went out the evening and on arrival our bed was prepared with lavender and a night chocolate. Thank you for making us feel special! Just a few mosquitos but the room was very well equipped with mosquito repellents.
Spiros (8/5): Very good - Our stay was very short, literally just slept there after a wedding down the road, so I can't really rate facilities. However staff were incredibly friendly, willing and accommodating. Our beds were turned down in the evening, a bottle of water provided next to our bed and our car was even washed in the morning. Breakfast was also very good with generous helpings. Location is great as it's close to many wedding venues in the area and they even provide a shuttle service if you need. Accommodation could do with a bit of sprucing up and bed wasn't very comfortable
Karin (3/5): Pleasant and comfortable enough in a convenient location but would not choose to go there again. - Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Good wifi. Goodish breakfast. Lovely, peaceful garden. I do not normally like to complain and do give credit where credit is due. However, this establishment was rather disappointing for its so-called 4-stars with some lack of attention to detail: 1. There was an empty paint and roller set at the base of our steps to our room on checking in. 2. There was plastic litter lying on the steps and the steps had not been swept in a while. 3. We were not warned of the bathroom being in the main room and not separated from the bedroom before check-in. 4. Beds comfortable but pillows not - neither of us slept at all the first night. We used the decorative cushions the second night. 5. There was no normal coffee in the room (only decaf). It took some time for the Manager to respond but eventually we did receive coffee, thank you for that. 6. There was no drinking water on check-in and the first night although bed turning and water was provided the second night. 5. When we went to breakfast, a staff member was washing the car - we were not asked if this would be okay - we have had bad experiences in the past with paintwork being scratched. Suggest management inform patrons of this "service" on check-in. 6. We were not shown where the breakfast room was on checking in so did not know where to go for breakfast.
