Guest Reviews
- Sebastian (7/5): Good weekend stay in a small country cottage. - Excellent location - far enough into the country to enjoy the peace and quiet. Nice setting on an organic farm. Shower wasn't very clean - shower head was almost fully blocked up due to hard water - had to clean the shower head to be able to have an actual shower. Bathroom could do with an extract fan as is fully steams up from the shower, leaving your towel damp. No Towel rail to dry your towel - expect damp towels your entire stay unless you have good weather to hang them out side. No lights outside so if you arrive in darkness then have your phone torch at the ready , due to it being rural then it is proper dark , nice for star gazing, hard to navigate and unlock your door.
- Wendy (8/5): Nice place to stay. - Handy to where we needed to go for the weekend. Owner had left the lights on and the heater going so it was warm and cosy when we arrived at night.
Quiet and private. Suited our needs. Took a long time for the hot water to come through. The shower head sprayed water in all directions and many of the holes were blocked-needs a clean or replacement.
- Laurence (10/5): -

- Judith (10/5): A gorgeous stay in a beautiful, restful setting. I would highly recommend. - Pretty, serene, private location. Very comfy bed. Well stocked kitchen. Plenty of comfortable sitting spaces. Welcoming extra touches, like vase of fresh flowers and fresh lemons. Good internet connection. Nothing!

- Catherine (10/5): A sweet spot to stay if you are exploring wine country by car and want an escape to tranquility. - It was adorable-right in the flowers, fruit trees and herbs! Place was compact and super comfortable. Nothing
- Mike (9/5): Brilliant - We were messaged that the place was ready, when we turned up, the cottage was open and ready for us. nice and private with two beautiful dogs coming for a visit.
Very comfortable bed, everything there for us, was a great stay

- Roanna Crapp (10/5): - It was a lovely get away for hubby and I . I stayed back Saturday and just hung out while the other half went to work . It was an absolute dream just laying in the sun coloring in watching the birds eating the fruit from the trees . Beautiful setting , nicely hidden . Although you are hidden from view you definitely hear the traffic that goes past . Laying there enjoying the view and hearing a bloody car zoom past , other than that id recommend.
- Karppinen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sheryn (10/5): Quiet relaxing location close to all the activities/attractions in the area. - The location was great, we were in Haumoana for a family birthday and it was handy to everything we needed to do. - Verified traveler (10/5): A Terrific Weekend in a Tiny Home - Herb Cottage is a very quiet, private, well-appointed, charming cottage located 23 minutes from Napier and close to Havelock North, a booming town with a great variety of excellent restaurants. We loved staying in the orchard, visiting Napier on Art Deco weekend, and spending a fun evening at Meeanee Speedway
- Joanne (10/5): - A fabulous well equipped cottage surrounded by vineyards and gardens. Bikes available with many paths nearby and pool as well.
- Liz (8/5): Very good - Lovely little cottage, that had everything we needed.
Very comfy bed.

Great communication.
- Anita (10/5): A great visit to Hawkes Bay and wonderful accommodation. -
- Sue-claire (10/5): Exceptional - A peaceful retreat, very comfortable with everything we needed. Kitchen very well equipped and excellent shower. Lovely deck with seats and privacy. Having the bikes was a highlight as we discovered a cycle track round the corner which was flat and through wonderful scenery. More instructions about where bikes were, and couldn't find recycling bin. Brigid was really helpful when we met her and told us about a wonderful beach which we had a glorious morning walking on.
- Frankie (10/5): Peaceful, Cosy little cottage - It was beautifully presented and neatly laid out. Everything was spotlessly clean, and very homely. The deck area is gorgeous, and the bed was extremely comfortable. The location was ideal, and it was easy for us to use the property bikes to get into Havelock town and some local wine estates. Will definitely be back again, but for a longer stay!

- William (10/5): - Great people to deal with thank you very much
- Kim (9/5): I enjoyed a safe relaxing stay and it was lovely meeting the host. - Quiet, calming country location with tuis, fantails and other birds around the cottage. Magical. As well as tea and coffee, there were fresh eggs and lemons in the kitchen plus milk, butter, and other basics for cooking. The bathroom was spacious with lovely soft water in the shower. The host put the heater on before my arrival so the room was nice and toasty warm. I didn't have as much time as I would have liked to enjoy relaxing in and around the cottage. I had to leave before 7.30am and return around 8pm most days of my stay! I didn't like not being able to stay longer.

Small observation, would dismiss one set of outdoor furniture

Very nice though 👌
- Pamela S (10/5): Quaint and Quiet Farm Cottage - What a wonderful stay at Herb Cottage! It is indeed surrounded by herbs! This cottage is on a working farm with multiple orchards and an extensive gardens.
Our hostess had some eggs, fresh herbs, lemons and milk waiting for us. The space is small, but also spacious since the double doors open to a lovely deck with plenty of outdoor seating. We enjoyed breakfast out there every morning! There is no TV, and it wasn’t missed!
The bed was comfortable and the shower great. We left the windows open at night and liked the cool night air and waking to birds singing. It’s not typical to have bug screens on windows, but we did have a couple big insects come in and screening would help with that (my husband quickly caught and disposed of them).
We had access to do our laundry and a warm greeting during the day from the owner’s pup ~ We loved that; so friendly, and then she would wander off. Just checking on us! There are also 2 bicycles for use. We just didn’t have time for those between other visits in the outlying area.
This a definite return place if we come back to this area of NZ from the states. Thank you for a wonderful and memorable stay!!
*Make sure to note that there is a cleaning fee that is included in final amount.
- David (9/5): Quiet, peaceful and suited us perfectly. - Quietness, private, rural setting. Well-equipped and we were appreciative of the bonus eggs, lemon, butter and milk supplied. Low door height for tall people and shower temperature/pressure was a bit fiddly to set to avoid a sudden cold change.
- Laura (10/5): A memorable stay in Haumoana - We loved our stay at this idyllic countryside cottage. Very peaceful and private. It was also lovely to meet the very cute dogs Stormy and Rosie.
Great location, close to the wineries and close to the beach, where you can enjoy a nice sunrise. Everything was perfect.
- Chantal (9/5): A comfy stay on a fruit farm. - The cottage looked like the pictures which was nice. A very comfy bed.
Having access to the pool was nice, this is located by the main house which is behind the cottage.
- Louise (8/5): Very good -
- Kate (10/5): Wonderful escape - Beautiful cottage, wonderful host, lovely landscape Everything was amazing, nothing to fault
- Marilynn (8/5): - This charming rustic, little cottage is a delightful change from hotels. You’re in the fields; sheep, horses and a lemon grove are outside your window. The kind host left us wonderful lemons and eggs. No screens on windows though so bugs do get in.
- Erin (10/5): Great place great host. - Our team member loved his stay here
- Barbara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jennifer (9/5): Quiet, peaceful and comfortable. - The cottage was true ro the description and photos. It was very compact but well set out. Good shower and comfortable bed, and very clean. A lovely peaceful country stay. The only drawback for us was that the internet was not strong or reliable and we needed this. I'd asked in advance so maybe it is usually better. It may not bother some guests but with no TV, we would have liked better wireless.
- Matthew (10/5): - Wonderful little cottage with everything you need - private & romantic!
- Ross (10/5): - Great place for peace and quiet in a rural setting yet not too far from town
- Kellett (9/5): I would definitely go there again - Private, cute, well appointed It is not walking distance to anywhere
- Anonymous (10/5): The perfect peaceful homely little spot - I was welcomed with a warm room and a warm bed upon arrival, Haumoana Herb Cottage was the perfect place to rest and unwind over the weekend! Warm, clean, tidy, a great shower and you wake up to look out the door at farm land and I could see even see some picturesque snow on the ranges in the distance. The cottage itself is located far away from the road and feels super private away from the main house. I will be back most definitely.
- Alistair (10/5): Exceptional -

- Michael (8/5): Very good - The cottage was cosy and warm, nice setting, loved the privacy and location No comment
- Allan (9/5): Superb - Location was beautiful , countryside very peacefull. Not far from Hastings , Havelock Nth and Napier , we enjoyed everything .
- Mark (7/5): Herb cottage provided the quiet rural relaxing 5 night break we wanted - Coy, private, rustic, quiet, pretty rural setting close to cycle track. Included bicycles available for use on trails. Nice of owner to offer garden produce and eggs and even pick up if we were tired of cycling. disappointed that advertised views were obscured by vegetation. long grass was mowed day after we arrived which improved access. outdoor table and chairs covered in moss. outdoors needs a tidy up prior to guests arriving.
- Kereopa (10/5): Têna koe, mō tō kaha manaaki Mai. - When we arrived, we checked Airbnb booking and directions were available to show route to Cottage. We were greeted with, open doors, fresh vase of flowers, bowl of fresh eggs, kuri. Well, I loved everything about my stay at the cottage, if there's anything to improve on, it would be, to cut the lawn.
- Janice (10/5): Brigid and the cottage were warm and welcoming. Will definitely recommend this accommodation! - Beautifully presented, little cottage. Loved the tranquil surroundings, especially the sounds of the birds and farm animals! Nothing, everything was perfect.
- Jacqueline (9/5): Tranquil and comfortable stay - Very peaceful and quiet Nothing
- Lyn (8/5): - The bed and shower was amazing and the area was really peaceful with only bird sounds. The wifi was intermittent and there was no TV but it did not detract too much from the experience.
- Wendy (10/5): - This wee cottage was quaint, very quiet and peaceful with everything we needed. A great place for an escape. Wish we could have stayed longer. Will recommend it to others. Thank you Brigid.
- Josephine (10/5): Highly recommend this little cottage - Quaint cosy country cottage. Our host Brigid
ensured all basic supplies including eggs bread and a selection of condiments. We loved the quiet location. The only thing that marred our stay was the confusion Hotels.com caused with our reservation we had to find somewhere else for a night and we await a refund. Brigid had not been correctly notified and ended up with a double booking to contend with and this made us feel rather uncomfortable
- Christine (10/5): Stylish, peaceful retreat - Lovely stay at this peaceful little cottage. It's compact, but beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Cooking and barbeque facilities. Luxurious linen and a very comfy bed. So relaxing it was hard to leave!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Herb Cottage is a quaint, cosy and peaceful property. The kitchen is well resourced and the host left eggs, bread and butter which was a lovely touch.
The bed is super comfy. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.
- Mark (10/5): - Fantastic rural cottage, peaceful and relaxing, great location, 😀
- Hamish (10/5): - It was a very cute little hidey-hole where we could escape from the rain on cold days and served as a great base for outdoor activities on the good days. It is very handy to the cycle trails and beach as well as being relatively handy to Havelock North.
Herb Cottage is well named. There is a great selection of herbs just outside the door, and it is well supplied with cooking utensils and equipment to turn out a tasty meal if you're wanting to eat in.
