Guest Reviews
- Brianna (10/5): - Everything was amazing and it was such a beautiful place! Definitely will be staying again😊
- Ida (8/5): - Friendly host, spacious period rooms, good morning coffee and baked goods. The difficult retrofit of this mid-19th century home required locating some undersized private baths one level below the corresponding bedrooms, which is quite awkward. But the reasonable room pricing seems to take this into account.
- Mirtha (10/5): - Ryan was a great host. The breakfast was outstanding! The area was walkable and quiet. The only drawback was having the private bathroom downstairs while the room was upstairs.
- Tori (10/5): - Wonderful stay in a historic mansion
- Richard (10/5): - Awesome place to stay!
- Allen (4/5): - Our flight was delayed and we ended up arriving there at 7:38 pm. We showed up and our room wasn’t ready for us when we arrived on site. Check in time was at 3:00 pm.
- Linda (8/5): - We were looking for a unique lodging experience while passing through at the end of our vacation. This historic B&B fit the bill. The owner, Ron, gave us great information about the history behind the house along with curated items from the past. There are a lot of steps in this B&B, including 6 steps down to the bathroom associated with our room. Our only concern was upon arrival. Our rooms were not ready and a bit of a snag to get the key for the room. The owner, Ron, helped make the situation better by jumping in immediately in absence of the innkeeper. Overall, this is a really beautiful place and the breakfast was delicious.
- Kathy (10/5): - Breakfast was well prepared and fresh. Room was clean and a comfortable temperature
- Monika (10/5): - Absolutely an amazing stay on my little solo trip. Ryan is a fantastc inn keeper.
- Donna (10/5): - Beautiful property. Our room was spacious w a separate seating area. Love the antiques & the bed was so comfortable. We ate at a delicious nearby restaurant recommended by the innkeeper. Nice neighborhood.
- Dayne (10/5): - Ryan is a great Innkeeper, his instructions were very helpful. House was clean, comfortable and remarkably beautiful. Can't wait to come back!
- Mitchell (10/5): - Beautiful place and fantastic staff
- Emmett (10/5): - love the place all rooms where up stairs to steep for heart pat.but really nice place
- Dina (10/5): - Beautiful old mansion, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious! Walkable to cute downtown area and the river walk.
- ronnie (10/5): - Personalized service starting before you arrive. Honestly the best service you could ask for
- Sarah (10/5): - The property is gorgeous and well kept for being so old. Beautiful original features and the space is a dated gem.
- Denise (10/5): - Very nice
- Linda (10/5): - Ryan was a great innkeeper! Very friendly and helpful and serve delicious breakfast! Loved the history and beauty of the mansion.
- lorimW7267NU (10/5): - The mansion was beautiful. The hospitality was incredible. Ryan made us feel like family.
The suite was comfortable and accommodating. The bed was very comfortable.
Cannot wait to return.
Thank you for everything Ryan.
- Jessica (10/5): You wont' regret staying here - The Pepin Mansion was even more beautiful in person. This is such a classic & iconic bed and breakfast. My room was stunning. The food for breakfast was fantastic. And the staff was so friendly. I could not recommend this place more.
- Valerie (10/5): - Beautiful, clean, historic B&B!! Delicious, home cooked breakfasts and a very scenic, walkable neighborhood! Saturday Farmer’s Market just a few blocks away… We fully enjoyed our stay and would love to visit again!
- Tamara (10/5): - Ryan is a top notch manager! The prime location downtown created a very walkable stay. Breakfast was truly special! The food was delicious and beautifully presented. It was fun to meet other guests during our breakfast. All of this is set in a gorgeous 1800’s mansion that has been lovingly restored.
- Wendi (6/5): Lovely B&B but AC needs repairs - We were in town for a funeral and opted to stay at the B&B instead of a traditional hotel. The mansion was beautifully decorated and would be a nice place for a wedding etc. this was our first time in a B&B and immediately we realized that this may not be a good fit for us as we tend to be hot natured and you can’t control your room temp in a B&B. Unfortunately, to make matters worse, the AC apparently went completely out and we woke up to a room temperature of 76 which is too hot for people like us that keep our home thermostat on 69. Obviously, this is something that couldn’t have been prevented and the Innkeeper, Ryan was extremely apologetic. Due to the temp, we did not stay for breakfast, but Ryan was out together a lovely fruit and yogurt parfait among other things.
- Keary (10/5): - Enjoyed the history, authenticity and integrity the place maintains!
- Jonathan (8/5): - Quite, quaint, fantastic breakfast, friendly and knowlegeable inn keeper
- Mboka (6/5): - Communication was done remotely.Property was unmanned. However i at least appreciated the stay. .
- Jocelyn (10/5): - The mansion is beautiful! The staff was amazing and so helpful!
- Robert (10/5): - Very unique and beautiful.
- Sara (10/5): - A most beautiful property! Very comfortable room and bed! Clean! Helpful and very friendly inn keeper!!! We will be back for sure.
- Brandon (10/5): - Beautiful and intimate. Very pleasing stay with a great spot in the incredible historic district of New Albany. High ceilings, solid decor, fantastic quality service and lastly, painted cloud entryway ceilings.
- Roger (10/5): - The room was very comfortable and the formal breakfast was very good. The rates were reasonable.
- Rupender (10/5): - This is an amazing mansion experience. Ryan was great host, and he answered all questions and was very accommodating. Our stay was only for a night but will come back next year for a longer stay.
- Sumire (10/5): - I enjoyed this beautiful mention so much.
- Logan (10/5): - U
- Joan (10/5): - Very spacious and elegant. Ryan was very hospitable.
- mike (10/5): A+++ - A+++, absolutely nothing wrong with this place.
- Mary (10/5): - It was so nice! We loved our stay
- Bob (10/5): - Beautiful cared for Mansion
Comfortable beds
Amazing breakfast!!
- Taitianiahia (10/5): - This place is an amazing weekend getaway or vacation stay. Extremely comfortable rooms and just so peaceful. It was the perfect escape that we needed. Ryan was a fantastic inn keep. He had so many great recommendations and made sure everything was perfect. Not to mention the breakfast is a definite must. I'm usually not a morning person, but I was for the beautifully prepared breakfast. We will absolutely be back if only for a weekend.
- Jonathan (10/5): - Ryan was a wonderful host and provided us with a lovely breakfast!
- Kevin (10/5): - It was very nice
- Ethan (10/5): - This was a beautiful and peaceful place to stay. Will definitely stay again if I’m in the area!
- Joe (10/5): - excellent breakfast, beautiful mansion
- Lori (10/5): - The Marilyn Monroe suite was magnificent.
- Kyle (10/5): - Great place
- Mohsen (10/5): - Best!
- Debbie (10/5): Historic B&B close to the riverfront - This was located in a great place if you like to walk down to the riverfront and walk into town and shop. We walked into town and ate at Parlour Pizza. The Pepin B&B didn't have a bathroom in the room but you can walk down the stairs to either a public or private bathroom. The room was really pretty. The Innkeeper had brownies to share with guests and coffee was available any time of the day or night.
- douglas f (10/5): - The room was wonderful, comfortable bed, quality linens, and an amazing breakfast. We will definitely make a point to come back
- Margaret (10/5): What a find! - The Pepin Mansion is a phenomenal find! And a tremendous value. We were in the area for a big track meet and I was looking for someplace special for my husband and me to stay. We found it! Ryan welcome to us with warmth and comfort. And he is an amazing cook! I honestly can't speak highly enough about him and our time there. It was our first visit to the region and I hope we will be back soon. When we return, you can bet we will be staying at the Pepin Mansion.
We also highly recommend the Muhammad Ali museum in Louisville. Moving and insightful.
- Charles (10/5): - The owner's tour with history narrative was great. Free access to brownies was delicious as was the multicourse breakfast. Mattress was comfy. Suggestions for local restaurants worked out very well. Wood floors, plaster, hand painted ceilings, well prepared breakfast vs. a generic stay in a chain hotel? I'd choose the character (slight imperfections) that come with the mild concessions from updating a house from the 1800s while retaining the heart of the charming place.
Yes, would choose to stay there again. A good value B&B.
- Elijah (10/5): - It was excellent
- Jonathan (10/5): History at Its finest - Wow!! What can i say about the Pepin besides what a beautiful piece of property. Very nice looking house that give you almost all access unless rooms are booked. The Innkeeper, Ryan, was absolutely amazing. We woke up to the smell of breakfast and warm conversation, decided to investigate and there he was, cooking an amazing breakfast for us. After breakfast, he was very inquisitive and looked to provide some guidance and advice on some sights to see while in the area. Unfortunately, being Monday, everything was closed but with a layer of snow to cover it, it made for a beautiful morning.
- Mike (10/5): - Ryan was a great host. Breakfast was exceptional. An outstanding value for an overnight stay.
- Joan (10/5): Highly Recommend! - It was beautiful, clean and the breakfast was amazing!
- george (8/5): - Our stay was only one night. The mansion was beautiful. Breakfast was fantastic and our host/chef was very personable and helpful in providing recommendations for things to do and see in the area.
One small negative is that, when we made our reservation, the only room available (2nd floor) did not have a connected bathroom; its bathroom was on the first floor. While it was a private bathroom just for us, it was somewhat inconvenient. All the other rooms have bathrooms.
- Verified traveler (10/5): A true gem! - The best hotel or inn experience I have ever had! Such an incredible value for the experience. The house was absolutely stunning, very conveniently located and the breakfast was so delicious and the experience was very high end. The bed was very comfortable and the room had ample seating and plenty of space. There was a cute little reading parlor and a sitting room with a nice view on the top level for guests to use. The whole experience was highly enjoyable. Very recommended.
- Jeffrey (10/5): Perfect for Louisville - This place is terrific. It’s a beautiful home, and Ryan the innkeeper, was very friendly and an accommodating host. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. It’s a great value to stay here and I would definitely return again.
- Jesse (10/5): - The property manager was knowledgable, gratious, and kind. I had a fantastic time chatting with him. We hope to stay again in the future!
- Joy (10/5): - Cant wait to go again
- Debbi (10/5): Wonderful Stay - Beautiful mansion. Very nice Innkeeper with great breakfast.
- ARHHRH (10/5): The Mansion Life is Dreamy - What a hidden gem in Indiana! I stayed for 4 nights and had an excellent experience. The Innkeeper, Ryan, had excellent communication regarding the check-in process, recommendations and ongoing service. Breakfast every day was delicious and visiting with and meeting other guests was delightful. The bed itself is dreamy and I want one.
The place is stunning and beautiful and very clean. I was a bit cold at night (November visit) and requested and received an extra blanket which helped.
I have zero negatives and would stay here again.
- Michael (10/5): - Love this place :)
- Hannah (10/5): - The staff and food were amazing! Very quaint bed and breakfast - enjoyed the breakfast and socializing with the other guests as well as the food! The staff was very friendly and welcoming!
- Karin (10/5): - Ryan was an amazing host and accommodations were clean and comfy. We booked 2 hours before checked-in and it was smooth and easy. I highly recommend the Pepin Mansion and we WILL be back!
- Aleksandr (10/5): - It was like spending a night in a museum. Imagine time machine travel. The host Ryan was extremely nice. He treated all the guests to a home-made delicious breakfast and shared a lot of fun stories at the table.
- Andrea (10/5): - Very quaint and a nice break from franchised hotels. Enjoyed it!
- Renee (10/5): Royal Treatment - I always thoroughly enjoy my stay at Pepin Mansion! Ryan is the ultimate host and his breakfasts are wonderful. The charm and grandeur of this old mansion makes me feel like royalty from yesteryear.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Intriguing stay at the Pepin Mansion - Awesome experience! most helpful inn keeper, very informal of local activities and things to do and an exceptional cook as well quality ingredients and healthy foods.
- Renee (10/5): - My favorite place to stay in New Albany, IN. Ryan is a wonderful host. The room is spacious and comfortable. The old world atmosphere just adds to its charm. I always have a wonderful stay at Pepin Mansion.
- IGregory (10/5): Simple life - Beautiful and historic.
- Keith (10/5): - Old and unique architecture. Well maintained
- Yuriy (10/5): - Great experience. Mansion rooms. Comfy bed. Specially Cooked breakfast.
- Tyrese (10/5): - Excellent building and rooms. And Ryan the host was friendly
- Doug (10/5): - InnKeeper Ryan is the greatest!
Ryan makes all the "fineness" happen!
- Riki (8/5): - I loved the property and the inn keeper! The room just needs to be dusted.
- Andrew (10/5): - What's not to love about staying in an 1851 mansion
- Jean (10/5): - The Pepin Historic Mansion is my go-to for travel through the region. The rooms are classy, comfy, and clean (but please avoid the room without a bathroom attached unless you're on a budget and don't mind this inconvenience). The surrounding area is historic, memorable, very safe and quiet as is the town. It is a step into the past! I've found other Pepin Mansion guests friendly and interesting. You'll have a seated formal breakfast with them and it always comes with fresh eggs, coffee, baked goods, and fruit (please arrive for breakfast by 9). If you are finally tired of 2-3-star hotels with noisy kids, cold eggs, and soggy waffles, or over-priced Airbnb's, Pepin Mansion is the stop!
- STEPHEN (10/5): - Great accomodations with terrific host and wonderful breakfast. Probably the best thing is getting to meet the other guests at breakfast. Great fun!
- Verified traveler (2/5): Horrible for older people - Whether it was a disconnect of info on hotels.com or just an oversight of the b&b the room we were assigned did not have a connected bathroom and not only that it was on an entirely different floor. For 2 elderly customers with medical issues requiring a bathroom nearby this was not acceptable. We ended up leaving and having to forfeit our money because management was not in the least sympathetic.
- Airalyn (10/5): - it was our first time staying at this place. and we had a really great experience at The Pepin Mansion. Ryan is nice and helpful!
- Renee (10/5): - The perfect place for my needs. Pepin Mansion is a beautiful facility with lots of room to relax. Ryan was an excellent host, preparing a scrumptious breakfast every day.
The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. I felt very safe coming and going from the house to areas around New Albany.
Overall, a wonderful experience. I will definitely be returning.
- David (10/5): - Very helpful staff
- Tim (10/5): - An old townhouse with impressive features - turned into a four room BnB. The innkeeper was great, and breakfast was served in the very grand dining room.
- David (10/5): - Its an awesome piece of history, freindly staff.. there are a lot of steps, and the bathroom is down stairs. But otherwise its a perfect place to unplug.
- Ann (10/5): - Beautiful rooms
Great breakfast!
- Pat (6/5): What could've been. - My wife & I had planned for a 3 night stay originally. The home was beautiful overall but our room was not clean. No one had cleaned room. There was dust everywhere on the furniture & the floor. Also - the private bathroom was not adjacent to the room but instead was down 6 very steep steps which was not mentioned on the web site. Lastly - as mentioned - we had planned a 3 night stay but our plans got changed. On the 2nd morning before breakfast - i tried to notify the owner that we needed to leave a day early. The owner was not present but a lady was found in the kitchen preparing breakfast. She explained to me that the owner was not there and would not be coming in due to a doctor appointment. She went further and added that she herself had been called in at the last minute to cover for the owner and she was not very happy about it. When i asked her the details of the home since we needed to leave early - she quickly told me that the money for the 3rd night was not refundable. I was not happy with that remark but said nothing else to the lady as she was not very obliging. The place was not that busy and i had in mind to come back and stay another night on my next trip - but that won't happen now. Bottom line - clean the rooms and be upfront on the bathroom situation.
- Brandy (10/5): - We loved our stay here! Highly recommend the Marilyn Suite as it is somewhat off by itself and is as large as a small apartment. Very clean and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Breakfast was delightful and we enjoyed the conversation with the other guests and the owner also joined us. Overall, pleasantly surprised and would stay again.
- John (10/5): - Unique stay, Property is beautiful, really appreciated Christi and Savannah, friendly and warm hosts.
- Paul (10/5): - It's a unique property with lots of history. The bed was comfortable and i had lots of room to lounge. The breakfast was incredible.
- Daniel (10/5): - In downtown and close to everything
- Julie (6/5): - Although i had confirmed reservations, the staff wasn't aware of my arrival and no one was at the property. The Ring doorbell video provided me communication and i was able to get to my room. During that communication i learned that my second floor room had its bathroom on the first floor. Not a good situation for a senior. Had someone been at the property i would have asked for a refund and found something else. The interior is nicely restored and has beautiful period furniture and art. The beds are comfortable and coffee, water, and a refrigerator available for guests. The lighting in the room was excellent and nicely set up for guests. Perhaps the room i was in hadn't been used in a while as it was dusty on both the floor and surfaces. There was differed maintenance in the front landscaping and surfaces. Viewing Google maps, It appeared to be a quick and convenient option to staying downtown Louisville. The drive was actually longer and more circuitous than it looks. In the future I'll stay in Louisville. The property is a good value and a nice change from hotels.
- Mildred (10/5): - Lovely place, friendly staff and breakfast was delicious!
- joycerI9847JX (10/5): Comfy room, excellent breakfast, convenient location - We stayed in the Marilynn Suite. It's a lovely huge space: 3 rooms! Bedroom has a king bed with a soft mattress and pillows, Sitting room with a winged backed chair and small sofa and a bathroom with a corner shower. Everything was very clean and neat. Breakfast was a delicious light frittata with spinach & cheese, grilled asparagus, sausage, fruit with or without yogurt, granola, pound cake. Convenient location with about a 20 minute drive to Churchill Downs.
- John (10/5): - This was our first experience at a bed and breakfast and it was truely a highlight of our trip. The property is as shown in the pictures
The inn keeper, Christy was pleasant, welcoming and made the most amazing breakfast. The unique surrounding area and greenbelt by the river was an unexpected surprise. We highly recommend this property.
- Natalie (10/5): - We had a great stay here. The innkeeper is nice and the breakfast was delicious! The area feels very safe.
- Verified traveler (10/5): A quick stop on our travels and it was perfect. - A Charming Mansion in a great location. Our stay was very comfortable and breakfast was delicious. It is an historical home so the staircases are tall and steep if you have any mobility issues. We managed just fine. The Innkeeper and Owner were very kind and hospitable.
- Ragan (8/5): - The woman working there was very kind and welcoming. The home is beautiful and historic.
- Nick (10/5): - I wish we had time to stay one more night! Great place!
- Susan (10/5): - the experience and the staff was friendly
- Suzanne (10/5): - Delightful in every way. Beautiful mansion, loved the history and tour by owner, comfortable, private, great breakfast. Greatly enjoyed our experience at Pepin Mansion.
