Guest Reviews

- SpaceTravel (9/5): Marco Polo Experience - The host Marco was by far one of the best that I have had in my 7 years of travel
He was Informative and accomodating offering me an upgrade and choice of very well kept Lodging in his 4 story very secure Dwelling. Definitely the veiw from the spacious rooftop is amazing the Queen size bed with the matching upscale night stands and pecan finish amor with three large pull out Drawers made me feel like I was upscale lodging. Marcos intuitiveness was profound to Sensing my needs and wants at the property. He even took me on his birds watch tour to the cloud forest as he and his amigos were already going. Also the other great plus about the booking with marco that surpasses any of the other
Airgnb or booking.coms He has a tour and guide buisness tied directly to your booking so for you its
Personalized private and professionalized as is the Main Man Marco along with his knolwledge its a some what Marco Polo adventure experience at the time off a delicioso breakfast that is prepared promptly at 8:00 am. So in closing, Price Priviledge Professionalism Perfect. Also a mini marketing for snacks and Drinks just open down Across the street while i was staying there as i extended my stay due to how much I appreciated Marco and his dedication to being a superb host at his upper end Hostal Hotel as he has all privatized rooms with private bathroom on the too floor that i chose with
And exercise routine of 4 floors when going out. The main Avenue is 4 blocks Subway restaurants bus supermarkets and the pharmacies even clínics are reach able without a veichle transport. Book and be Satisfied No BS. There is Absolutely nothing that i did not like about the Booking one of my best yet experienced.
- Patrick (10/5): Outstanding….The best place we have stayed on our two month trip. - We have travelled for two months in Colombia and Ecuador and this was by far the best place we have stayed. Centrally located, an easy walk to both the old town and the new city. Marco is an outstanding host who speaks perfect English and invites you upstairs to his home for an excellent breakfast.
- Stephan Heimann (9/5): - Marco was a lovely host, who happily chatted with us over breakfast.
The B&B is in a safe and quiet neighbourhood close to the metro and historical center. The rooms are simple, but very clean.
Excellent value! Would gladly stay here again. The room we stayed in could use a few hooks and places to put luggage.
- Amy (9/5): - Yellow Balconies is a quiet, comfortable, safe, welcoming space within easy walking distance from the historic center of Quito if you are fine with altitude and steep hills. The breakfast daily was such a treat with music and conversation with Marco. We enjoyed having a spacious shared kitchen and living room in addition to our room. Plus, the views of the Basilica, mountains, city, and volcanoes are great.

- ontbijt prima
- Ligging ideaal. Uitzicht en vlakbij center - Douche, lauw water
- Verlichting kamer
- Simone (9/5): Superb - Nice private room with bathroom and good view. Well equipment shared kitchen. Very friendly owner, serves the breaktfast in his flat. Good breakfast. Warm blankets. WiFi works very well. Rooms could use a few more hooks for towels, jackets, etc.
- Chrisrtw (10/5): Exceptional - Great place. Quiet area. Good Wifi.
It was a room in a three bedroomed apartment, so I had a shared kitchen and large living room as well as my room.
It’s not in the touristy area. But that is only a 15-minute walk away.
Good security – I had to go through three locked doors to get into my room.
Marco spoke excellent English and made me breakfast every morning.
- Derek (10/5): Very comfortable one night stay - Comfortable bed, hot water, fast wifi, nice host.
- Derek (9/5): Superb -
- John (9/5): Superb - Very helpful host.
- Tim (9/5): Excellent value for money - The room was excellent, very comfortable for the price. Marco was a great host, very friendly and often invited me to join him and his friends to play sports or party. A good birder too! Breakfast was included and was simple but nutritious - fruit (sometimes with local fruit). omlette, and toast with white cheese and avocado. Lovely coffee with added special ingredient! Wif fi was good usually. The location is difficult when you are not used to the altitude or hills - 10 minutes hard slog to the centre. Nothing apart from small shops in the immediate vacinity. The kitchen could do with a microwave and some matches. The TV might be more modern. The shower took a little getting used to! But for the price, I couldn't complain because everything else was great!
- Lukas (9/5): Good stay in Quito - Easy check-in
- large and well equiped kitchen
- nice common areas
- really good and tasty breakfast
- well informed hodt who can give many tips
- clean and basic room
- Wifi was great to work
- really good location: central, close to supermarkets, bakeries, restaurants and different bus lines street lights shining into the room in the night
- it was loud once a car drove by (luckily not so many)
- Pascal (10/5): Very good hostel with delicious breakfast - Friendly and helpful owner that speaks very good english
Delicious breakfast
Good location in walking distance to the historic town
Shower with hot water
- Raphael (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was perfect. The room and bathroom are very nice and spatious enough, the living room is big and comfortable and the kitchen fully equipped. The view from everywhere is awesome.
The owner is super nice, makes tasty breakfast and will invite you to a spontaneous weekend football session if you like. Nothing
- Simone (10/5): Great stay, everything was perfect :) -
- Nora (9/5): Perfect if you want to travel on a budged - Marco was really friendly and gave us many really useful tips. The Guest House is two streets away from a supermarked and really central overall. The room was clean and the shower was hot. We were pleased to stay here. Only thing that wasn't perfect was, that you had no possibility to hang towels up but thats citizism on a high level.
- Tony (9/5): Superb -
- Avi (9/5): Superb - At first shower did not work but we were transferred to another, better room
- John (9/5): Superb - I chose this place as it was between La Mariscal and Historic Center. Walking distance during the day and a $2 taxi ride back at night. The place itself seemed safe as I was walking around at night. Marco was helpful and a chill dude. He provided me with all info I needed. Breakfast was also great and Marco did accommodate for me when I have an early start in the day. Kitchen is fully equipped. Rooms are decent and spacious. It was on a hill, so going out and coming back was a trek for me but I aint fit, I think it will be fine for most. Tv was small and outdated and no cable only dvds. This aint a problem for most as you are there to explore the city and country but I do like to check out different channels to see what the local people are watching. Silly I know but thats how I travel.
- Laquisha (10/5): Exceptional - great location, comfy bed, good breakfast, well equipped common areas, awesome views from rooftop, wifi works well nothing
- Grace (8/5): Great value - We really enjoyed our stay here. Its almost like a Homestay where you and other guests share one floor of the building. Marco is a nice host. Gives good advice about the area. Really comfy bed. Shared kitchen with other guests and a little shop downstairs where you can buy things to cook for dinner. Hot shower. Can walk to old town. Good breakfast as well - fruit, omelette and pastry with coffee. Nothing :)
- Kate (7/5): Good value basic room on a busy road, on a very steep hill! No exterior signage. - Great location near the historic centre and transit connections. Windows single paned facing a busy road. Beautiful view obscured by 50 or more cables crossing it to the pole. Located on a VERY steep hill.
- Anebine (10/5): Great value for money - Marco was very helpfull. A really good bed, nice with kitchen facilities and the place was safe.
- Mahsa (9/5): Great - We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely hostal. Everything was great and the host was super nice. The breakfast was complete, healthy and delicious. We had a shared kitchen and living room and we used the kitchen a lot. I love old and antique items and there were so many of them there which made me super happy to look at them. thanks a lot for everything.
- Jan (9/5): Superb - Marco is the best host in Quito, very friendly and helpful, very good breakfast. Room was clean, bed very comfortable. There is a big common living room on the floor and kitchen you can use. Close to historical center and amazing Itichimbia park. Totally recommended. Poor lightning in the room
It was always tricky to open the water in shower, to not freeze or got burn. But after a minute it works somehow
- Sara (9/5): Superb - Had a good stay. Clean, good kitchen. The owner was really friendly and helpful!
- Geoffroy (10/5): Great place to stay to visit Quito. - Large appartment, with good size bedrooms. Large living room. Large, well equiped kitchen.
Good views from the apartment.
Good breakfast included.
Hot water with good pressure. Good wifi.
Accomodating/helpful host.
Good location next to several parks and not too far from the old town. The truck selling gas bottles passing by several times every morning between 5:30 and 6:30 with loud music... Unfortunately nothing the host can do about it!
- Caroline (10/5): really nice place to stay ! - Marco is very welcoming !
hot water, great wifi
room is nice with nice view on the mountains
ideally located
kitchen and living room you can use
good breakfast
- Hollie (9/5): Comfortable, quiet space ideal for couples - Very homely apartment with four guestrooms and a good-sized shared kitchen and large lounge. The decor is very dated but that adds to the charm. Marco was useful in providing tips on travel plans and things to do in Quito. The breakfast was tasty and filling – fruit salad, eggs cooked to your liking, bread/pastry, and tea/coffee. There's not a laundry service at the guesthouse, but there's a good and affordable laundrette just around the corner. Although a bit of a walk from the historic centre, it's well-located for connections with buses, making it cheap and easy to get to. One of the lights in the kitchen didn't work so it was a little dark in there in the evenings when cooking dinner. The tap in the sink in our bathroom leaked a little. And I felt the bedroom was missing a bedside lamp.
- Marc-andré (10/5): Exceptional - The place was simply awesome. The owner Marco is available in the morning to answer questions and provide a great breakfast. The bedroom is spacious and clean, and the common area has a kitchen, a living room and all of the equipment to be confortable. The location is both isolated and close to amenities, restaurants and the city center. Awesome place! Nothing
- Mike (10/5): Perfect place in Quito! - Comfortable and quiet hostel with a fully stocked kitchen and good breakfast. Close to the historic city centre. Owner is really nice and gives a personal touch to your stay. He knows everything about Quito, Ecuador and Galapagos so you will have a perfect intinirary after your stay.
- Paula (8/5): Really convenient and great value for money - Marco the host is extremely kind, he collected me from the airport and changed the times of breakfast nearly daily to suit me. He was always available to help with all my questions. The room was a good size and clean and comfortable. I had the use of a balcony in the lounge and the views are amazing. Having the kitchen was great too it meant I didn’t have to eat out every night. There’s a great little shop downstairs as well. The Wi-Fi was excellent. The electricity wires that sometimes obscured the view
