Guest Reviews
- Lourdes (8/5): Very good -
- Jurgita (5/5): Not recommended - Location is great, outside us beautiful, staff is friendly and helpful. This place has potential to be great but they should not rent it out while trying to renovate. Renting rooms with strong smell, covered in mold and trying to cover up with spray?? Staff tried to help by offering to change rooms 3 times(last one was decent with no smell or visible mold). There is no restaurant ( again, being renovated as we were told by staff) so if you don’t want to take water taxi there are only 2 options to get food at 2 near by resorts. We should have listened to previous reviews but hoped they were wrong. Well, they are not.
- Divceva (10/5): Paradise - Location, staff, environment...everything :) Bar closed
- Natalia (7/5): Good - We got upgraded to a double room with private bathroom (was clean, spacious, had some storage space), which we appreciated a lot. Common area is nice with tables, pingpong table and games. Beach is about 7min walking distance through a forest which is also nice experience. Initially we booked small double room (shared bathroom), which didnt meet our expectations at all. Shared kitchen is very dirty. There are some nice rooms but overall the whole place is outdated and needs and upgrade.
- Eglluk (10/5): Exceptional - The location is fantastic, we were surounded by nature, natural jungle, colibris, monkeys :) Many thanks to the staff, very nice people
! Edgar, Carlos, Eric and sorry for the rest names that I haven't memorized. You all were fantastic like old friends! We were invited for wine, Eric opened a coco we brought from the beach. . That was fun :) Moreover, they do salsa nights, draw&wine afternoons, yoga and other activities. They were ready for any question or any hlep you need. Very nice place. and it is totally different from other hotels. Maybe some kitchen facilities need update. And the bar was not working during our stay which could be the spot for all guest staying there for socializing at the evening. But it was not a big deal at all. I would also suggest to put some shelves in the rooms or hooks for beach towels as there is space for that :)
- Manuela (2/5): Very poor -
- Diana (2/5): Abusive. Totally overpriced. Not for families. - The location is an island with nice natural surroundings. Everything is shabby. The kitchen and bar were not working, but customers are only informed when checking in. Yet the price remains as if the full service is available. The hotel has a communitarian kitchen which is quite dirty and open to outdoors, so you can’t be confortable when it rains. Prepare yourself to dishwashing and sharing a nasty fridge with the staff and the rest of the costumers. The only food store in the island is expensive and has few goods to sale. Electricity went off for a whole morning. The staff is false in their kindness and rather quite abusive. Everything has an extra charge. The morning we left, a storm was hitting the island so we asked them for a 300 meters raid to the tier in order to not soaking ourselves, and they wanted to charge 5usd per person! This is a hotel for backpackers with resort prices. Not recommended for families or for relaxing holidays. You need to be full time alert and in a survival mode.
- John (8/5): - Didn’t have a bar and restaurant open
- Nathalie (7/5): Okay, wouldn't return though - Comfortable bed, friendly front desk staff. They only told us the restaurant and bar on site were closed a little more than a week before we arrived, too late to cancel. Expensive beers and the communal kitchen needs a lot of cleaning.
- Kathrine (6/5): Too expensive for what you get - definitely not a bargain with all of the extra hidden costs - The general friendliness of the staff. Particularly Edgar was very accommodating and gave us advice on what to see and how to do.
Other than that, our room was spacious and clean. The place has great potential We understood that the “hostel” had just been re-branded under a new owner, and that not all facilities were available (mainly restaurant, meaning no coffee or tea facilities as you would normally expect in any establishment).
However, there were several things that annoyed us from the start. You can only get to the island with a watertaxi (extra cost 7$), and then you have to walk roughly 10-15 mins to the destination. The road is not always paved and the last bit is quite steep uphill. Whenever you want to leave the island you have to make use of the watertaxi and every ride is 7$. When we were checking out, we asked if we could get a ride to the marina, as my friend had hurt her foot the day before and the walk was not comfortable. The reply was yes, but this would again be an extra cost of 5$. These were things that were not mentioned when we booked.
That on top of that, wrong information was shared with me just days before arriving- that there would be no possibility to pay with card on the island and that all payments had to be done in cash, and so we had to withdraw all of the money we needed (payment for stay + extra) and pay the $7 fees that you have to pay when withdrawing cash and not having a Panamanian bank account… however, when we checked in, we were asked if we wanted to pay in cash or card! I obviously got upset, as we just spent $21 just in fees. I made the staff aware of the “miscommunication”, yet no attempt was made to compensate us for their obvious mistake.
In terms of food and drinks (you can fill your water bottle) there is a shared kitchen where you can cook and a grocery store that is extremely pricy, so make sure to stock up on snacks, food, drinks going
- Agnieszka (10/5): Wonderful stay - Beautiful site surrounded by rainforest. Very helpful and friendly staff; the property had changed ownership before our arrival, which we were informed of with all the instructions (so we were aware of the temporary shortage of restaurants and the need to pay cash). All staff are constantly looking after and improving the facilities. The path from the boat landing is very well marked, almost entirely paved or tarmac. It takes a maximum of 15 minutes. Beautiful, tasteful common areas and a pleasant swimming pool. Singing birds, hummingbirds, red frogs, morning visits from monkeys. Simply a little piece of paradise. A path through the forest leads directly to Red Frog Beach in a few minutes. A wonderful stay Small minus for the kitchen, it should have been renovated in the first place. But I understand that since it is used by many people it is a challenge to keep it clean at all times.
- Hannally (8/5): Very good -
- Randy (7/5): All in all a fantastic stay in the jungle. We saw sloths, red frogs and capucin monkeys. - Beautiful location. Nice and quiet. No coffee!! No water!! C'mon guys! I know there is a store down the hill but it is down the damn hill. Buy some water and sell it for a profit and make sure you never run out of coffee. Better yet, how about a restaurant? Coffee was obtained at another resort a few minutes walk away, but these things are basic. Thankfully they do sell beer, so, points for that.
- Mia (7/5): Good - The hostel is nice and surrounded by beautiful nature. The pool was clean and there was a pingpong table and some games. The room was pretty and clean. The hostel is really remote and a great place to relax, but if you want to meet a lot of people and go out, the Sociatel in Bocas Town would be a better choice. The kitchen wasn't very clean and some of the bedding and towels aswell.
- Raul (9/5): Superb -
- Pascale (1/5): Bad stay, would not recommend. - - Nature
- Clean room
- The two guys from the staff (but not the administrator) 1. There was no pool during our entire stay (5 nights). We did not get any notice of this situation beforehand.
2. There was no cafeteria, breakfast or restaurant in the hotel. To get food you had to walk to a MiniMarket, to the nearby resort or to one of the two restaurants by the beach. Either choice is a 10 min walk at least and to get to the restaurants by the beach its a walk through the jungle which at night I would not recommend. We were not informed of this situation either.
3. The common kitchen area is not clean.
4. They did not have good communication with the next door resort (Red Frog Beach Resort) or with the Hotel/Restaurant by the beach (Palmar). First they told us that if we went to get dinner at La Rosa (restaurant of Red Frog Resort) they would provide us with transportation to and from the restaurant. This did not happen. Next, when we went to get lunch at the Palmar, after lunch they asked us to leave the lounge chairs because we were not guests of Palmar. We felt like we were unwelcome everywhere we went, and all of this because the place we were paying for had nowhere to be or anything to eat, or transportation of their own. And clearly they were relying on other hotels instalations and logistics to meet their clients basic needs.
5. We had to carry our luggage through the mud about 15 minutes walk to get to the hotel and the signaling was very confusing. How hard could it be to have a basic car to transport guests to and from the dock, no need for a fancy golf cart, just any vehicle!
- Aviv (9/5): Superb -
- Meloska (7/5): Good -
- Maria-rita (6/5): Jungle experience, but do not expect any luxury. - Location and proximity to beautiful Red Frog beach is amazing. Also the jungle vibes are cool if you want to experience something different compared to staying at Isla Colon. Please don't underestimate the way to the property once you have arrived. It is a approx. 15 mins walk partially uphill, which is burdensome if you have suitcases. The golf cart at the boat docks are only for guests of the Red Frog Beach resort and will not take you up. Sociatel Red Frog should invest in a golf cart to pick customers up. Pool was dirty and in general the common areas could need some renovations.
- Hus (6/5): Pleasant - Staff was so kind and nice. Our room had a heavy smeell of damp and common kitchen needs more cleaning.
- Morgane (7/5): The location was great, friendly staff but too expensive for the construction work and dirty kitchen - Great location , just 5 min from the beach - staff was friendly , we saw a lot of beautiful animals It was disappointing because they were doing construction work while we stayed there. So having breakfast with noise and dust.
There is no food there or breakfast so you have to cook your own food - the shared kitchen is a bit disgusting honestly… not super clean plates and pots … all sticky
Also the room has nothing to hang clothes and is in a bad states
- Roberto (7/5): Tropical rain forest - Property was being upgraded and location Bar and kitchen was closed and trail to beach needs reinforcing
- Arnold (8/5): Great location & island. The tipi rooms are comfortable and there are good restaurants at the beach. - Great location & island.
- Leana (1/5): Absolutely not worth the Money – Disappointing Stay - Unfortunately nothing The accommodation is absolutely not worth the money. The rooms are old and musty - the terrace doors are difficult to open. The air conditioning doesn’t work properly, making it impossible to sleep peacefully. The kitchen is in poor condition - nothing works properly and it’s very dirty. Basic items you’d expect in a shared kitchen were not available. The accommodation seems to be undergoing renovations and old, dirty pillows and other debris were left in the hallway every day. It became unbearable, so we decided to leave earlier than planned. The accommodation is completely unprepared to host guests and provide the service expected for the price paid. I would not recommend this accommodation at all!!
- Demirdag (10/5): Amazing experience! - Red Frogs everywhere. You're in the jungle. 7-10 minutes to an amazing beach thru the forest. One of the best hostel beds in terms of curtains for privacy. The hostel has a swimming pool though it was not very inviting both due to the weather and it was filled with leaves. Great staff! Even the walk from the dock to the hostel is an adventure with monkeys on the trees That I left my favorite towel and shorts there
- Lars (4/5): Disappointing - Communication because of constrains was not good (spontaneous breakfast cancellation by the property and yoga classes).
The property in general seemed to be neglected for a long time (kitchen is available but not clean, utilities damaged, walking bridge is broken, etc.)
- Jūlija (9/5): Superb -
- Jpedrosilva (1/5): Worst possible experience - The property told us two days before that they could not accommodate us. We had to find another room without many options and without help from them.
- Lukas (3/5): What would we say about this hotel? In general, we really like the Selina chain and know it from other countries BUT? Sp - Location and accomodation Hotel management!!!!!!!!
- Carlos (8/5): Very good - I liked the common areas and food I didn't like that in the shared bathrooms, in some showers there were no soap nor shampoo and sometimes was not cleaned
- Philipp (9/5): Great location and staff to relax at the beach and in the jungle. - Great location in the middle of the jungle. Staff is very friendly. Just a short walk to a great and lonely beach. The menu is limited, could change a bit more
- Louis (8/5): Very good - Location is great The shared kitchen is poorly equipped, all the pots and pans are in very bad condition and the shared fridge was total chaos. Some staff were friendly, the girl at the bar was very unfriendly and looked mad at me for ordering a beer :(
- Mihaela (8/5): Nice location. Backpacks vibe - We stayed in a cabana with private bathroom. Very big. With own fridge and tv. And a small terace Interiour a bit dated
- Annabell (8/5): Very good -
- Yuli (7/5): Nice - Quiet location with nature, friendly staff and lots of activities! Facilities could really use an upgrade especially the kitchen, no clean drinking water so you have to buy bottled water, and every payment with credit card includes a fee which adds up.
- Felix (8/5): Lovely stay in the jungle but unfriendly staff make the experience worse - The location in the jungle was very nice. Also the offer of free activities. There was enough space in the dorms and the beds were really comfortable and private due to curtains. Everything was clean. Unfortunately the staff was not friendly at all and seemed to be unenthusiastic. Also the food was not good considering the price. E.g. the Shakshuka was not spiced at all while the salad was so salty you couldn't eat it.
- Catie (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful location! The room was very nice!
- Kholodna (7/5): It was an ok stay - The staff was helpful when they could. It's a beautiful location in the middle of the jungle. The beach club nearby is great. The beaches are beautiful. Breakfast time was always hectic. It's far from the dock, no pickup service. The rooms were too expensive for what you got.
- Ricardo (2/5): Low quality - Location
- Rute (1/5): Very poor management ruins the place - In the middle of island - you have to walk 10 min to get to the beach.
There is a WhatsApp group where they share available activities.
Local staff is amazing!! Felipe , Joel and Jose Will do everything to make your stay better. Management, both Israelis, have absolutely no skills for dealing with people.
They will NOT make you feel welcomed or at home, on the contrary, their favourite word is “no” and their attitude is arrogant.
A place in paradise can be turned into a stressful place.
The way they treat their staff is no human and they don’t even hide it hard from the guests.
The menus available were actually NOT available, they will have few options from there. That made us wonder how do they feed the staff if they don’t have enough options even for guests.
The menu has outdated prices.
Tip - The other hotel in the beach, El Palmar, same prices, was much better and was what “saved” us. The beach is beautiful, staff is great and everything is available for you.
The towels were absolutely dirty and apparently since their washing machine broke, instead or investing in a new one, they send stuff to be washed in other islands, but I don’t know how often.
Staff is working under stress and afraid of management, it’s not pleasant to watch.
The comum kitchen was disgusting, so we decided not to use it.
The “Caban” where I’ve stayed wouldn’t lock , either in the inside or from the outside. They give you a locker, pretending they don’t know both doors opens anyway.
Talking to other guests, they had the same problem with lockers in their dorms. No safety.
There is only one hair dryer for the whole hotel, always apparently in use, so we never got to use it. We’ve been given the option of using a very old one, but it didn’t work.
They work as well with volunteers, that are not paid at all, only given bed and food.
As we didn’t have cash, the Manager made it feel very difficult to pay other than usual. At the end, there was a very easy way, by sharing a QR code , that works like an online payment, avoiding to pay the extra 7% tax.
I wouldn’t recommend this place.
Lastly, and the most important, the local staff ware really amazing and helpful, big thanks to Felipe, Joel/Joye and Jose.
- Sashini (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely loved the property. Stayed at a teepee in the hostel. Clean and quiet and very well maintained teepee. Conveniently located 7 mins walking to the beach. Staff was very friendly and polite. Restaurant had good food decently priced. Daily evening activities
- Jennifer (7/5): Rustic accommodation in a beautiful location - Lots of activities on offer, good atmosphere, beautiful location, surrounded by wildlife (there's a regular sloth that appears around the hostel, a large iguana, and some of the tiny red frogs that the island is famous for). The shortcut path to the beach is not safe to walk along alone at night (slippy, muddy, and full of lots of chances to trip over vines and things in the dark), but OK for walking along in daylight. I stayed here after staying in the Selena Hostel in Boquete (on the mainland), but this one is much more rustic and basic in comparison. Bathrooms aren't particularly clean and could do with a lick of paint (or a complete overhaul). From the menu, they had more unavailable than available (probably due to it being low season - but why not just have a separate low season menu instead of giving the current menu to people and then when they choose something they won't be disappointed? I chose three things in a row that they didn't have). My locker in my bedroom was completely rusted out to the point of not being able to use it.
- Laura (10/5): Excellent, I would go back. - Everyone was friendly, the room was clean, the property is pretty, it has a pool and daily activities. Food was tasty, there are a lot of animals living there. A lot of space to roam and explore. Everything was great. The yoga mats were incredibly dirty, food is pricey.
- Heather (8/5): We had a wonderful comfortable adventure in the jungle! - This is a great property for an adventure in the jungle. Great value, very comfortable. Had a great time, But it is Not luxury resort. Great and kind staff and fun activities going on. Food items were very tasty but limited if you were staying for several days.
- Larisa (10/5): Exceptional - It was an amazing experience! We loved the beach, the pool, super friendly staff and activities provided!
Walk 5-7 min through the rainforest to the beach made our day even more enjoyable and special!
Happy hours near the pool is the best way to meet people and enjoy conversations.
- Liza (2/5): Disgusting, health concern of a kitchen, - The islnd is pretty. Has nothing to do with Selina. A car came to take our stuff up the hill , that was nice. The receptionist orgnized a better priced water taxi pickup for Old Bank. Generally the receptionist were available and nice. There is shampoo, body gel and conditioner and hot water. The kitchen is disgusting. Larvae in the coffeemaker, rusty fridge with mold. Moldy waterfilter. Very old deformed kitchenware. Pots and pans very few and in almost unsuable condition. Filth is everywhere. The stove side and the walls have old dirt and almost looked like someone theew up on them ages ago and it just been there a couple months. I was genuinelly concerned for my health uing that kitchen. Lockers all smelled like cigarettes, everything soaked in that smell. The bed is moldy smelling. The pictures are deceiving, everything is basically falling apart in the bathrooms as well.
- Artur (10/5): Amazing place - wish to be back one day... - Went for 2 nights - stayed one week. Amazing place, very cool people and the location, middle in the jungle, 5 minutes walk to a paradise coast.
- Federico (5/5): Passable -
- Elene (10/5): Perfect Stay in the Jungle - The treepee room is exceptionally good, very clean and cosy. The staff is super friendly and nice as well. They provide plenty of activities. We enjoyed the night tropical jungle tour the most, it was exceptionally well organized, interesting, full of information and very well guided. there is very limited menu and some of the items were out of stock
- Claudia (8/5): Amazing stay if you are willing to take the walk - The bungalow was very comfortable and the staff incredibly friendly There is a significant walk from the dock to the hotel that is not warned and no assistance from staff at arrival at the dock.
- Christina (6/5): Not worth the money! No hostel vibes. - Location is good, the design is pretty (however needs to be refurbished), the welcome drink was tasty The offered activities did not happen (Yoga/Stretching). The "jungle view" from our room was on a lot of trash in the garden (old washing machines, etc.)
The tours offered via Whatsapp group were eventually not realized and obviously the staff was also not very motivated to make it happen. We wanted to make use of renting kayaks - but they are obviously decoration and full of rain water. They don't have the possibility to bring them down to the marina (and it is impossible to carry). They could have asked people from Red Frog Resort - but they really didn't want to.
We rented snorckle equipment that was pretty old and moldy. Generally there was smell of mold everywhere and I had to sneeze a lot during our stay (allergic). The food is very expensive and lots of times dishes were not available.
Generally there is no hostel vibe here. There is so much potential in making this an amazing place (fireplace, terrace for Yoga/sports, game night, etc.) but there seems to be no interest by the management.
The soaps in the bathroom were stretched with lots of water.
The public kitchen was disgusting. It needs to be cleaned more regularly. Also one working fridge is not enough in a hot and humid place like this.
Take care to bring enough food and drinks from Isla Colon. During our whole stay the only supermarket (at the entrance to Red Frog Resort) was closed!
The hostel dog could need a consultation with a vet... when we arrived his eye was inflammated and during our stay the eye got more and more cloudy/murky.
Selina on Isla Colon seems to have way better vibes and organization but is also less remote.
It is sad that the management just leans back because they have a nice location on Isla Bastimentos...
- Luis (10/5): It was a great experience!! (: - Selina Red Frog is perfect for travelers looking to get in touch with nature, here you will enjoy quietness and relaxation while also having close access to the beaches on the Island. The rooms are cozy but comfortable. Staff is very friendly and also can help you with any inquires and suggestions during the stay
- Karina (9/5): Superb -
- Millet (9/5): Overall a exceptionel location, Nice room and lot of possibilities. - The staff was really friendly, the food of the restaurant was good. There was no mini fridge in the room.
- Maria (6/5): Pleasant -
- Sarah (10/5): Incredible place! Could not recommend more - This hostel/hotel is incredible. I stayed in a jungle room and had a view over into the jungle. The room was clean and super comfortable with amazing air-con. The bathroom was good and the shower had great water pressure. I ate breakfast and dinner at the bar which was lovely. They do daily tours and you can rent snorkelling equipment, everyday they do a welcome drink and let you know info about the hotel. You can pay $7 to get the boat from Selina Bocas to Selina Red Frog really easily. They have boats at numerous times and a timetable you can see. Then it's a 10minute walk to Selina Red Frog from the boat drop off. It's clearly signposted but there is a bit of a steep driveway up to it.
Less than 10 minute walk along a jungle path to Red Frog beach, easily signposted. Just be careful if you're coming back after sunset as the jungle makes the path quite dark.
Definitely visit Polo beach and get a Polo Loco from the man himself (coconut with rum).
I could not recommend this place more! Make sure you wear bug spray in the evening if you're eating at the bar as it's all outside dining and drinking so you'll get a lot of mozzie friends.
- Anna (4/5): Disappointing - Nice jungle walk to the beach, relaxing armosphere at the restaurant/Bar. The room was not clean, it seems to be a very old building, with broken balkonydoor, dark and too close by the common showers. Stuff was really unfriendly, no welcome, no introduction in the very beginning. We wanted to have nice days, but could not relax in this room, really too expensive for that.
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shera (10/5): Exceptional - Room was perfect
Staff was wonderful
Food was delicious! Explanation of DARK jungle path(impossible for rolling suitcases)
- Mariia (9/5): Superb -
- Robert (9/5): Superb - Perfect location in the middle of the jungle. Very friendly staff, reasonably priced and good food. We also enjoyed the common area, great atmosphere. Rooms are slightly too noisy, you can hear your neighbors a little too clearly. But that’s about it.
- Bridget (7/5): Remote and on the expensive side but nice. - The staff are absolutely delightful and go out of their way to assist. The housekeeping staff are always cleaning up the kitchen, which is great, given a lot of the families mentioned below don’t have any backpacker kitchen etiquette.
The location is absolutely lovely, amongst the jungle and only a short walk to the beach, but do all your groceries etc before you leave Bocas Town, as there’s only a sparsely-stocked mini mart.
We were kindly upgraded upon arrival from a shared bathroom to an ensuite, which was really lovely. The room and bathroom were great, with a fan AND air con, if a bit damp (but it’s the wet season, so it’d be hard to keep on top of it).
The hostel try hard to get people involved, organising games and art nights etc. There are also board games lying around for you to play.
There are heaps of animals around all the time. Red frogs are jumping around the pool area constantly and there are monkies and sloths in the surrounding trees. They are more remote than the Bocas Town Selina, which means they often don’t have things on the menu. Some things were strange, for example they often ran out of fries and substituted with patacones, which is weird because fries just sit in the freezer. The menu was also a bit on the expensive side.
There are very little hostel vibes, as there are heaps of families staying there, with kids running, screaming, and jumping in the pool, splashing everyone around them.
The kitchen fridge needs to be cleaned out much more regularly, as it was packed to the brim but also had mouldy food in it from people who had clearly left without emptying their food out.
- Raquel (8/5): Very good -
- Greg (9/5): Superb -
- Jair (9/5): Superb - The common spaces and the vibe of the jungle
- Maria (10/5): Quiet and beautiful scenery! - Quiet and beautiful scenery!
Lot of fun activities and you will easy get to know other travelers. Close to the beach and a nice pool area.
NB!! Remember to buy some snacks, food and water on the main island, before you take the boat. The supermarket on the island is the most expensive I’ve ever seen!! Expensive restaurant
- Dale (10/5): - I like the nature around the area, fun place.
- Paula (9/5): Superb -
- Lucas (10/5): Exceptional - Great hostel located in the middle of the jungle - really a unique experience. The only downside was the cleaningness of the kitchen and some common areas.
- Lindsay (8/5): Very good -
- Izabela (6/5): Pleasant - Overall very clean and nice rooms. Personnel tries to make a good time for you with a scheduled activities (if you're into it) and quite helpful. Food was very so so, last day didn't eat breakfast I paid for, because it took more than 40 minutes to make and I had a boat taxi scheduled. For the dinner food in the card, mostly dined in other hotel nearby.
Also the hotel/hostel is not close to the beach, you have to do a small hike to the beach (8minutes) in the forest path (definitely more than 200m - maybe in straight line on the map). Also to het to a hotel its like a 1km from boat pier so prepare to carry all the things with you. Tiny pool in the shadow, good for a quick jump, but not to enjoy sun at the pool all day. The deck does not look like on pictures anymore, more bush and some table/bar in place of sunbeds.
- Lil' (10/5): Great jungle vibe - Great location, inbetween the jungle, close to the sea. Very quiet surroundings. The staf is very kind and one is an biologist and enthusiastic tells about all the plants and animals in the surrounding area. Great recommendation to take the Night Walk with him! Be aware of red ants - step over them, and rib tides at the sea, don't swim when a red flag is out.
- Carol (10/5): - The staff was impeccable and so kind. It was such a beautiful space next to the rainforest and beach. I could’ve have been happier with my stay.
- Sara (7/5): nice stay - the dorm was nice, I had a single bed and the linen was fresh and clean. it’s close to red frog beach It’s very wet and humid outside the rooms and the pool seemed a little dirty
- Michelle (9/5): Superb - Staff Location Amazing activities Little cooking equipment for amount cooking
- Michelle (8/5): Retreat vibe hostel with some maintenance needs. - The yoga, meditation, art and wine and coconut workshop and general Helpfulness of staff made up for the slightly run down dorm room. Nice retreat vibes, met lovely people. Lovely WhatsApp with daily message of the schedule of activities. Good space in the room and functional shared bathroom and kitchen. Enjoyed the walk to and from the beach. Enjoyed the zapatillo tour. Good luggage storage. The activities and jungle settling made the hostel stand out. Stunning beach! Welcome drink is too early when most people spend the day at the beach a walk away. The Aircon had signs of black mould and smelled of it too. Dorm room door didn’t lock so anyone could gain access but there were lockers. Breakfast was hit and miss, cheaper if prepurchased. Food expensive for Panama.
No hammocks or soft seating which the lovely jungle environment would work for. Signage could be better to and around the hostel and to polo beach. There should be more frequent shuttle water taxis from Selina in bocas.
- Rahel-debora (9/5): The most luxurious it can probably get on a remote island - In the middle of a remote island Bungalows stand pretty close together
- Ionut (8/5): Very good - take the teepee with jungle view it's worth it! the bar/restaurant is quite bad
- Magnus (9/5): Superb - Cool place and good vibe.
- Alexandra (7/5): Good -
- Susan (10/5): Oasis in the middle of the jungle - Breakfast was really good everyday!
- Ann-christin (8/5): The jungle path to the beach was our absolute highlight - Our double room with jungle view was very comfortable
- Thorben (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christopher (9/5): Lovely hostel with lots to enjoy, except for maybe the food - Great staff, the activities organized by the hostel are a lot of fun to partake in, especially the night walks around the island.
Other than that, they help you organize a lot of the things you might need during or after your stay, like getting on and off the island, booking tours or a shuttle to your next destination, etc. pp.
The location itself is wonderful and you really feel like you’re living inside the jungle. Lots of animals to find around the hostel and only ten minutes to the beach. The only gripe I have is the food offered. It’s not necessarily expensive, but some of the meals lack fresh vegetables or fruit, e.g. the smoothie bowl doesn’t have any fruit at all, besides whatever is mixed into the yogurt.
- Andrzej (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic atmosphere, you can meet many interesting people from different countries. The Jungle Walk is fascinating and in ten minutes you are on the beach. Every day there is something interesting happening at the Hostel. Tomer is very helpful and always offers advice. I highly recommend staying here and it was 6 days too short for us. Thank you ❤️ Nothing
- Sarah (9/5): Perfect beach getaway - The location is amazing in the middle of the jungle and close to red frog beach. The mood in general was really good and we especially enjoyed the night walk and the tour to the zapatillas. Understandable but still a little annoying was the fact that running water is only available during certain hours of the day.
- Sebastian (9/5): Superb -
- Kevin (8/5): Very good -
- darren (10/5): - Loved the TeePee huts in the canopy. Pure relaxation and pristine quiet. Staff was topknotch and always involved with the guests. Worthy of a redo but we will fly into Bocas next time. Driving to Almirante was challenging and lengthy.
- Carrie (7/5): Good -
- Ana (10/5): Exceptional - The peace at night. I could finally rest like a baby.
I liked the fact they have a whatsapp group Found a roach hidden in the kitchen. It's the jungle, so it's kind of normal, I guess.
The kitchenware was kind of dirty. Kind of jucky.
- Kathrina (9/5): Superb -
- Kathrina (9/5): Superb -
- Kinsley (7/5): Good -
- Laurie (9/5): Great ambiance, fun people, perfect place to chill - Love the ambiance and all the activities organized by the staff. Everyone is super open and friendly It's not on the beach, but really not far through the jungle. The food there is not the best but they are other restaurants on the beach
- Ecem (8/5): People and location make up for the old and not so great facility but depends on what you value the most. - Fantastic jungle walk to a fantastic beach. Easy to meet people and so far the best staff among Selinas. Zapatillo island tour is great value, snorkelling was super nice. Room, toilet and shower they all need to be renewed they are very old and poorly functioning. Meditation/yoga classes can be improved.
- Lori (7/5): We enjoyed our stay and the service was very good! - Good vibe and a nice welcome upon arrival The pool, if there was one thing that would make a massive improvement, get a bigger and cleaner pool!
- Marek (8/5): Very good -
- Joanna (7/5): Overpriced hostel away from the beach - Wild animals
Nice pathways No signs. Difficult to find. Steep climb from the beach.
Black mold on the AC.
Reception behind dilapidated shed.
