Guest Reviews
- Angela (6/5): - The staff were friendly and accommodating. The property was on a dirt road in a residential part of town away from most shops but was a short walk into downtown. Rooms were relatively clean except there was a hair on one of the bed sheets. Floors were mopped each day which was helpful. Breakfast was light and simple.
- Julie (10/5): - The property manager, Lady, was so helpful. She helped arrange tours for us and gave us information about what to do.
Finding the place was a little difficult, as Waze didnt map it out correctly (initially I used Mountain Faro Hotel as it was named in expedia) so i had to stop and google address and remap with a different name. I used Mountain Faro B&B and waze mapped icorrectly then.
Also office was closed when we arrived at 7pm. I had to find contact info on expedia to reach owner. She answered and got us situated. Just fyi..sonyou know to call ahead tonlet her know time you will arrive.
Great place!
- Sorin (6/5): - Disappointing breakfast. Average at best service. No coffee in the room.
- Diane (10/5): Lovely but steep climb - Excellent hotel but up a very steep hill and then an unmade road. You either need a car or be fit enough to climb the hill
- Emi (10/5): - Convenient and walkable to the shopping, dining area. Very clean and neat in the room. We felt welcomed and have good hospitality.
- Catherine (10/5): - Perfect location for Monteverde. Wonderful staff who provided extra early breakfast for us.
- steeve (10/5): - Le personnel était vraiment gentil
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice experience in Monreverde - Our stay at Mountain Faro was made excellent by our host! She took excellent care of us, going out of her way to make our time in Monteverde special. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the hotel was close to the rest of town!
- Jean-Marc (8/5): - Routes d'accès défoncées le bitume manque sur la route on roule directement sur les cailloux.
L'hôtel était propre petit déjeuner correct mais la salle est petite.
La responsable était à notre écoute pour nos demandes.
- Veronica (10/5): - We booked day-of after a change in plans and were just looking for a cheap and decent place to stay overnight. We were pleasantly surprised. This place is adorable. No frills, but the room and premises were clean, and staff was friendly and helpful. They served a delicious, made-to-order breakfast. No A/C wasn't a problem as the temperature dropped at night. Walkable to town for dinner and drinks. Check in and check out were easy.
- Esther Georgina Palacios (10/5): - Súper amables
- Sergio (10/5): - We had a wonderful time at Mountain Faro. The staff here made our visit to Monteverde easy.
- Kathryn (10/5): - Mountain Faro is a simple, clean, and well-located property, with a good breakfast included. Yes it is up a hill, but you are in Monte Verde and everything is up or down a hill. The staff, led by Lady, are lovely, welcoming, and so helpful - including recommending restaurants, helping to arrange tours, and arranging transport as needed (for tours, or if you just don't want to walk the hills). I highly recommend it.
- Margie (10/5): - Mountain Faro Hotel was a beautiful place to stay. Very nice simple breakfast. Very easy check-in! The parking spot was a bit tight but that is the only downside to this Hotel. It is within walking distance to restaurants nearby. I would recommend staying at this hotel! Thanks for a pleasant stay!!!
- Mary (6/5): Great bargain - The family that runs this place were very kind, friendly and helpful. They were slow to respond to messages. The room is as described, rather small with few flat surfaces to set things. The room had a sewage smell that was resolved by keeping shower drain covered and sink drain closed and airing out with window and door open. The breakfast was cooked fresh at the time we chose and was very good. A coffee pot is available, bring your own coffee & small filter. Also bring your desired soap and shampoo. As many places in the area, be prepared to put toilet paper in a trash can, not flushed. It was a great bargain hotel, clean and within walking distance of a commercial area, if you are in good condition and can handle steep hills.
- manoj (10/5): - 1. Lady(host ) provides good service. Just make sure to get the whatsup contact for communication
2. Room cleanliness
- Kyle (10/5): A beautiful stay at a lovely family B&B. - A lovely little stay at Mountain Faro. The family are so helpful and friendly, they really can't do enough for you. They helped us book trips and transport(for the same price as anywhere else). They gave us some good recommendations as well.
The breakfast is simple and great- fresh fruit, eggs on toast, fresh coffee and juice.
The rooms are big, the beds are comfortable, with a lovely shower that has great water pressure and is nice and warm.
The wifi is also really good.
For the price, i cant imagine this place could be beaten. Especially considering it has a couple of lovely reataurants within touching distance.
- G (10/5): - Nice place. Helpful service. Breakfast is pretty much from 7-9 am. This town has a lot of steep and less than ideal streets and limited parking. The property access requires a steep climb to get to an unpaved street. The property has a wonderful view when it is clear. Simple, clean updated room with nice bathroom and hot shower with good water pressure.
- Ramesh (10/5): - This is located in a quiet neighborhood. This is a family run business. The hostess and her three kids are very courteous and friendly. The breakfast was very good and was made fresh every morning after checking our interests that morning. I strongly recommend staying there if you ever visit Monte Verde.
- Michael (8/5): - The staff is a gem and attentive to our needs. we were only customers since it is rain season. Location is walking distance 250 meters (mostly downhill) to get to outskirts of town.
- son (10/5): Facorite - Hotel Room- clean, comfortable and nice big bathroom.
Location- About 10 minutes walk to main town
Staff- Super friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Justin the receptionist really helpful and give accurate information.
This is my favorite place to visit per 2 weeks Costa Rica trip.
- Donna (8/5): The price is right - This was a family run small B&B. They were curteous and helpful. The room was no frills, but cute and clean. It had a fridge, nice large bathroom. No A/C or ceiling fan though. You couldnt beat it for the price. It is on a winding neighborhood side road, but close to restaurants in this quiet cute town. It was perfect for our visit to the Monteverde rain forest. It included a traditional Costa Rica breakfast.
- Parker (10/5): - The family running Mountain Farro were helpful in in me and accommodating to my schedule as I ran around trying to sight see.
Enjoy!
- Caroline (8/5): - The place looks brand new, better than pictures. Laey was wonderful, went out of her way to accommodate us and other guests. It was really clean which is a must for me. Beds were comfortable. Would stay here again and recommend to others.
- Nancy (10/5): - New b and b. Very clean. Can walk to restaurants, butterfly gardens ,orchid garden!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - There didn't seem to be anything for temperature adjustment in the room and we needed to have breakfast a bit earlier as our tour left only 10 mins after breakfast started and this can't be the first time this happens yet the girl acted as if this was such on inconvenience for a request to have it 10 minutes earlier. The room was very clean and the restaurant nearby (in walking distance) was great. A bit far from other things if you don't have a are rental and are walking.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I liked the staff, very kind and good service but the ubication was very bad
- Keith (10/5): - The property wasn't fancy but was just what we were looking for. A clean room with a super comfortable bed! And the customer service was excellent! Breakfast was made to order for us every morning, and Lady our host went over and above to make us feel happy and comfortable. She offered to arrange a couple of tours for us and as promised, got them at a discount. So take advantage of this if you are planning any guided tours!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Relatively small rooms, but clean. Good breakfast, very friendly staff. last part of road to B&B with very rough surface
- Rajani (10/5): - Comfortable stay and very helpful hostess! Good location. Thanks Lady!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is a family run business that really does a great job in accommodating clients. The place is very clean, has a great breakfast included and is quiet in the evening. A little difficult to find as it is tucked away in the town but just put in Waze and it takes you right to the front door. Thank you to all the family!!!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lady Faro was very hospitable and helpful. We needed a Doctor/ Pharmacy for our son and she called ahead for us and let me know where the different types of MD offices were. Excellent breakfast. Room was very clean. Excellent place if you have a car. A bit of a walk to the downtown/ restaurants if you did not. Thanks !!
- Stella (10/5): Wonderful hidden gem - What a fantastic find!! Exceptionally clean, this well maintained family business was so welcoming. Conveniently located. Very helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Decent accomodation. Hospitable - Decent hotel. It has few rooms, and is family managed. Do not expect 3 star facilities. You get what you paid for.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice property and customer service!!! Super helpful in getting us transportation.
- Mandy (10/5): Great family run hotel - Awesome place. Family run business that takes great pride in their work. They even helped me find and buy a birthday cake to surprise my husband. Would highly recommend.
- Paul (10/5): Great place - Amazingly helpful and courteous establishment. Rooms were immaculate, breakfast was great, and made to order, and our hostess was always available to answer questions and set up tours and adventures.
- VVG (10/5): Great hotel with personal tiuch - We all enjoyed starting in this small but very welcoming hotel. It is run by a family and they really took care of us. Prepared delicious tasty breakfast hot right in front of us. my kids said best hotel of all the hotels that we stayed so far in CR. I highly recommend this hotel. They didn’t even ask me write this review unlike other places where they did.
- Andy (10/5): Very friendly and helpful staff/owner - As soon as we arrived we were given a very informative and good orientation of everything around the property and various things to do including restaurants and things to do. We felt extremely comfortable, although the property is not in the category of top star hotels it was a pleasure to be there, felt like staying at home. It is after all a B&B property. Will go there again next visit.
- Ash (8/5): Hotel at the top of town - I booked this hotel due to a review about the water pressure in the shower, and it was so true. The shower was amazing, but it also has a great family feel to it. A family runs the hotel and it's always there to assist. The one piece of angle I would follow is to take a taxi back up from town to the hotel whenever you go to town. The hill is easy going down, but a pain climbing back up against the wind and up a very steep climb. Despite that, this hotel gets the job done!
- Howard (8/5): Overall, very good - A good place to stay. The service is excellent and everyone so friendly. We had a junior suite with a small garden and jacuzzi - fantastic. Great location for short drive into the National Park.
A little disappointed with the breakfast. What was there was good but no muesli, yoghurts and limited cheese so not good if you wanted a continental style breakfast. Also, no gym which would have been good.
Overall, very good.
- Eden (6/5): Cheap and clean - Great value. Very Clean, large rooms. No view but walking distance into centre of town (10 minutes). Good breakfast (banana pancakes was a hit with kids). They are new owners and new to B&B business so they have a lot to learn but they’re on the right track. Can’t beat the price.
- LIBETH (10/5): Pura vida - Great customer service, very friendly. The only recomendation would be changing the matress.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very Friendly - The service was very very good and accomodating.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Place which guided us to "Roots" Bridg Ficus tree - It's a family run - extremely nice people . They went above and beyond helping us do the booking for zip line, guide for cloud forest. When I was looking for directions to tree climbing ( not the free tree climb shown on google map) but the one which goes as a bridge from one bank to the other) locals call it roots, he actually came with us to show the place. Without him we could not have found the place or reached as it was treacherous. Getting there is one of our best experience in monteverde
- Angela (10/5): Family owned and super friendly! - Great location walking distance to local restaurants; 15 minute drive to Monteverde National Park and 30 minute drive to amazing zip line experiences! New, clean accommodations with family owners that are genuinely interested in their customers and making sure that all accommodations are satisfactory. Owners also have tons of information regarding local activities and were able to book our family's activities after our arrival allowing only 90 minutes for our pick up for zip lining and next morning walking tour through Monteverde National Park. Only draw back for our family was the lack of AC although the room was cool at night even in August.
- Kim (8/5): Nice Hotel - We stayed here for 2 nights-- 2 kids and 2 adults. The staff was terrific and helped make arrangements for local tours. The breakfast was great and the rooms were clean. It is a good place to stay for a night or two.
- Roger (10/5): Charming bed and breakfast. - As mentioned earlier, the road is not a good road. There is 18 kilometers of steep rocky, dusty, dirt road, but don't let that stop you from seeing down to earth Costa Rican countryside.
- christine (8/5): Lovely family run hotel - Clean, up to date bathroom. Tight quarter four 4 people but we were in Monteverde to stay in the room. Fantastic omelet breakfast!
- Verified traveler (6/5): staff is friendly. New renovated room. - Location is off street,up in a hill, hard to find. Shower room is too small and leaks water. Breakfast is limited.
- Yi (10/5): Comfortable B&B in a good location - The front desk is very patient, helpful and informative. She prepared breakfast around our schedule and helped us store luggage on our check-out day. The surrounding is quiet, and it takes about 8 minutes to walk to the central Monteverde. Rooms are simple but clean, with everything we need.
