Guest Reviews
- Peter (4/5): - Very old with run down look. Noisy trains all night. Coffee pot wouldn’t work. Not enough hot water.
- edward (10/5): - the facility has been renovated to a very good standard. Good value.
- Richard (10/5): - Was great for a motor motel. Not fancy but clean and well maintained. The staff was great at check in and provided answers to all questions. I would certainly stay here again
- Debbie (8/5): - I just really appreciated the size of the room, and how homey it felt, especially the lovely rocking chair and footstool.
- JD (10/5): - I usually stop here on my way through to the coast. The place is clean, quiet and well maintained. The couple who runs things are very friendly and helpful.
- ZHI (10/5): - The owners were so nice and accommodating. It is easy to visit the Wells Gray Park. Five stars and strongly recommended will be back again.
- alvin (8/5): - Nice quiet old school motel. Hot water in the morning shower would have been nice.
- Greg (10/5): - Clean quiet rooms and a short drive
- Cherilyn (10/5): - Older property but well maintained and very clean. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. This is our go to when visiting Barriere.
- Donna (10/5): - Clean and well kept.
- JD (10/5): - Clean, tidy and quiet at a reasonable price.
The pride of ownership shows here.
I’ll be back again…
- Catherine (8/5): - Was a quiet clean motel, out dated decor. Train ran past about 9 times thru out the night, not too loud
- Jun (10/5): - Very clean room. Comfortable bed.
- Tina (6/5): - Got checked in quick. Owner was nice.
New door locks are ok.
Inside was fine but the bathroom needed some cosmetic work.
I was a little disappointed that they didn’t make our beds everyday though.
- Ashley (4/5): - Has everything you need, found room cold and no way to adjust it. The train was very loud and woke me up several times. The motel is the comparable to all other options in town.
- Patrick (10/5): - Easy check in and homey room off the highway.
- Larry (8/5): - Property has lots of space around it, not crowded in like most other accommodations. There are train tracks behind the motel, if you are a light sleeper that maybe a problem.
- Dean (10/5): - Convenient location right near the highway. Affordable. Friendly staff.
- Gimhana (8/5): - It was a good affordable stay. Cannot expect more for this price. But compared to other places for the same price this location is worth the extra drive. Would have been nice to have breakfast included though.
- Valerie (10/5): - The owner met me at the office door as I was walking in. After a long drive from Alberta the check in was quick and painless!
Comfortable and Clean room for a excellent sleep!
- Daneen (10/5): - Everything was clean and all we needed & more was in the room. Price was great.
Only thing not great was the train behind the motel. It didn't blow it's whistle so that helped.
- Ralph (8/5): Chugging - Trains and more trains that was my only complaint
- lori Rae (8/5): - We were late checking in and the front desk. People were waiting for us and greeted us by our first name absolutely lovely couple. Very helpful after a very long day of travel
- Jeff (10/5): - A quick stay on our way back from Jasper. A bit dated but very well maintained. Owner was friendly. Glad there’s AC during the heat wave. Everything we could ask for.
- Linda (10/5): - We just stayed one night, but the property was clean and appeared to be recently renovated. The staff was very helpful.
- Beverly (6/5): - Beds were comfortable & bedding was fine. Room was clean. Rooms could definitely be updated. Easy check in & out.
- gerald (8/5): - Very friendly
- Blair (10/5): - Great value.
- Brian (10/5): - Check in quick, Jane met us and helpful and professional. Good job. Thanks
- Norman (6/5): - in a nice green area, far from the highway, but close to the CN main line!
- jeff (6/5): Why cant they turn on the heat before you check in - They know what room you are checking i to, would it be to hard to turn on the heat (at least to 15) before you arive? the heat is way down when you arive and takes all night to warm up, i ended up going to bed fully clothed with my jacket over me to keep warm. By morning, it was finally comfortable temp.
- Li (10/5): - The room was clean and tidy, the staffs were very warm and friendly, a very pleasant stay
- Artic (4/5): - The room was dirty; looked like the sheets hadn't been changed / washed in a LONG time.
- Erin (8/5): - Very clean room. Outdated piecemeal furniture. Very loud toilet and fridge. Had a mini kitchen area which was nice. Headboard sticks out a bit and husband and I both hit our heads on it. Check in and out was quick and friendly.
- Karen (6/5): Will do in a pinch - The lock on the door is broken, the room was tidy but not clean, it was good for what I needed just a place to sleep
- Yijing (10/5): - It is very convenient to park at the door of the room.
- Elisabeth (10/5): - Good experience
- Patricia (8/5): - Older property but very clean and staff was very good. Next to train tracks and main road but wasn’t too noisy.
- Don (2/5): - This motel is disgusting...opened the door and the mold smell over powered me.. EARLY WELFARE is the only way to describe this suite.. backing onto a rail road track NOT what I would call "quiet location""
Then the final straw was when two ladies renting the next door unit backed up to the door and started unloading rabbits in cages into their suite, at 6 rabbit cages .. there was a rabbit show in this one horse town this weekend and these ladies were there for 2 nights to enter the show...
Asked for refund and thank god the owner gave me back me funds... DO YOU NOT VET the rooms you are renting???
No happy... See
- E (10/5): - Having been around the area for 4 months, the location is a nice middle point between Kamloops and Clearwater. East Barriere Lake provincial park is a hidden gem and only about a 40 min slow drive from motel. There is some sort of resort across that lake as well that looked quite nice.
- michaela (10/5): - My husband and I have been here 3 times now. This year there are new owners. Lovely couple. Very friendly. Had a great neighbour beside our room who we chatted with for hours and shared a drink or two.
- Jerry (8/5): - Property was satisfactory.
- E (10/5): - Been staying at this property a number of times over the last 4 months. Great value for the money. Clean and owners very nice. Do note that the property has a railroad running behind it and the trains do run through the night. However, we have not had any issues sleeping.
- Sandra (10/5): - Clean and quiet.
- Karen (8/5): - The room was neat and tidy basic and simple
- Linda (8/5): - It was o.k. Nothing special. Clean and tidy.
- Frederick (2/5): - It lacks of good maintenence. Bathroom faucets falling apart. Dirty around the stove and on table, counter top. It is not worth the money that I paid.
- Tanya (10/5): - Great very clean big rooms! Staff was great and very friendly. Easy to walk around had a few choices to eat and absolutely beautiful view!!
- Tracy (10/5): - It was clean, and tidy. Considering it is an older motel, improvements have been made. It was a comfortable bed and homey. There are spots to sit outside whether it be in the gazebo or at the picnic table to enjoy the spectacular views. It was a great experience!!
- Brenda (10/5): - The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, from check in to check out. The room was spotless and the bed comfortable. The small kitchenette was better than expected. Everything needed was there. The fridge was bigger than most hotel rooms. The tv worked well (my husband wanted to watch the playoffs). The place was quiet, the only noise was the trains going by. We needed a quiet safe place to sleep and this was perfect.
- vivienne (10/5): - it was peaceful-even with the trains. we really enjoyed our second trip there.
- Ted (8/5): Good Value - It’s an older place but it’s clean and in good condition. I’d stay there again.
- dean (10/5): - Staff were welcoming and the place was clean, bed was comfortable!
- Denise (6/5): - Very friendly owners comfortable beds at night lots of bugs but that’s everywhere would stay again
- Denis (8/5): - Owners are very accommodating and pleasant.
- Danny (4/5): - Bad no coffee
Dump for sure
- Dawn (8/5): - Excellent service at the desk even though the rooms are quite outdated they were very clean and tidy including the bathroom
- Gavin (10/5): Great Classic Motel - I love old classic motels in BC. They are an excellent bargain, and many like this one appear to be run by immigrants who have kept the charm but keep it perfectly clean and interesting. Would stay here again is a heartbeat. Also a fun night in the local pub just up the road.
- Brian (8/5): - The rooms were very clean and well maintained. The only negative was the proximity to the train track and the noise from the trains, you did eventually get used to it.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Thanks to Expedia
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean & the bed is very comfortable
- Verified traveler (8/5): - There was only 5 mins of warm water for a shower. Not hot. Barely time to rinse your hair. Room looked clean on the surface. But under beds there was so much dust and debris on the carpet. Squashed spider on the wall by bed, that was kinda gross.
Check in was ok, not very organized with paperwork. I booked with Expedia, he kept asking you sure? I had the confirmation number in hand. Once he found it, check in was fast and easy.
- Douglas (8/5): Passable - Passable and ok but nothng to write home about
- Douglas (10/5): - great location, extremely clean and comfortable, beds are very sleepable, bathroom immaculate, just a great motel
- Douglas (10/5): - great location, extremely clean and comfortable
- BrianRowe (8/5): - Clean room; easy access; reasonable price; flexible reservations.
- steve (10/5): Very surprised - Very pleasantly surprised! Friendly owners, great room for a very reasonable price. Will definitely be back
- Sharon (8/5): - No soap in shower, ice was in short supply nice quiet space with lots of room outside for walking
- Ron&Rachel (6/5): - A nice country small town place to stay. Even though the train runs periodically behind the motel it was not an issue. The bed was super comfortable and we slept very well.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Enjoy the ease of access and large open areas in front of the rooms. Owner/manager was very pleasant & considerate.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Provide you wiyh handsoap only and the same liquid to shower & shampoo with. If you use the kitchenette you have to wash everything or pay an extra $25
Room decoration is from the 80s
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Beatles and spiders in the room. Left over pepper or something on the countertops.
- Coreen (4/5): Not the best value. - Better value at Comfort Inns. Breakfast was lacking
Rugs need to be replaced and the rooms need to be updated. ed was confortable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - veryclean and like a cabin out in the country the owner eventold us to take some of his apples
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The motel is located in a very nice setting, with outdoor park area and picnic tables. The rooms were clean and the bed was adequate - about what you would expect in a budget motel.
- Cathy (10/5): Unexpected gem! - Spotless. Comfortable beds. Choice of med firm or soft pillow - nice surprise for this price!! Even a bbq & fire pit available! Decor is dated (for this price who cares?) I'd go out of my way to stay here - the service is better than any 5-star. They changed my booking to accommodate dog last minute. They changed my room last minute on request - added extra person. Provided extra parking. Agreed to stay up to 1am to check us in. Cant say enuf good things about this little place.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice place, amazingly interesting look out, nice managers, very cleaned room, large room. very large yard, large parking. I strongly recommend to others to stay in this place.
- Dennis (8/5): Nice motel - Nicest in Barriere...
- Patricia (8/5): - Great place for price
- Amanda (10/5): Very pleasant!!! - Quick efficient friendly service! Very clean!!
- Khristine (8/5): - Aside from the on and off electricity in our room, the stay was good. Service was prompt everytime we report that the power was down. The view of the location was amazing. Room was clean and had everything that we need.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice Place to Stay - The price was right the motel was great. Nice small little motel, but clean and neat.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hosts were very welcoming. The setting is breathtaking and serene. The room feels like home. Great piece of property. Short walk to the lively river.
- Renee (8/5): Lovely clean and tidy Motel. The owners were kind. - A little problem with the room but it was sorted the second we mentioned it. :-)
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice motel to stay - We drove 8 hours and arrived in this motel with outdoor sitting area. This motel is very clean and comfortable with everything you need. There is a kitchenette that we used to make a simple dinner. The owners are very friendly and it’s a good overnight place en route from Alberta to BC. We all enjoyed our stay and had a good night sleep.
- gagandeep (10/5): - Nice and friendly staff like this place
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The setting is beautiful. The room was generally clean, but everything felt damp. A window had been left fully open and it had been raining all day. The bathroom only had a dispenser for a combo shampoo/body wash. We only stayed one night, so didn’t need to use it, but had a good little kitchenette set up.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This was the halfway area for where I was going and where I was coming from, so I decided to stay here. I stayed for 2 nights.
Very friendly staff and a nice area! It is pet friendly too, which ia good because I had my dog with me.
The wifi was a little bit slow, but wifi normally is in most rural areas.
The bed was pretty uncomfortable, which normally would not have bothered me but I am currently pregnant so it keeps getting harder to find comfortable places to sleep. The pillows were very nice and soft though!
The soundproofing also wasnt very good.
I could hear the people in the room next to me talking all night and could even feel when they walked around, unfortunately.
But this was a nice little budget motel, with nice views and friendly service. Rooms were clean, and that is pretty much all that matters to me.
- Roger (10/5): A wonderful place run by wonderful people - This property is thoughtfully organized, conscientiously operated, meticulously clean, and operated by the most attentive couple anyone could imagine. Our night here was a real pleasure, and surprise. It may not look impressive from the highway and the train tracks that run behind the property may seem a bit unnerving, but the trains stop running at 8 pm, and its a peaceful, comfortable, and spotlessly clean accommodation. I will return if ever I need lodging in this area.
