- phongc165 (10/5): An elegant, contemporary boutique hotel boasting breathtaking vistas of the historic city of Guanajuato - We reserved the Master Suite for 3 nights at Casa Del Rector (directly through the website) and were pleasantly surprised when we checked in and walked to our room. It turned out to be the Presidential Suite, offering a stunning view of the city, the pool, and the sky bar. With over 800 square feet of space, the room was incredibly spacious. The bathroom and shower were modern—very different from the hotels we stayed at in Querétaro and San Miguel de Allende. The staff assisted in carrying our suitcases up several flights of stairs (while also utilizing the elevator) to our room on the ninth floor. This would have been quite challenging for us prior to becoming acclimated to Guanajuato's high elevation of 6,500 feet. We had breakfast and lunch at the Las Vieyras restaurant, where the pastries were delicious and fresh, and the food was consistently tasty. Modern sculptures adorned the courtyard where the restaurant is located, adding to the charm of the space. Watching the sunset from the Bartola Sky Bar rooftop while enjoying some specialty beverages was a truly enjoyable experience. The accommodation and services were superb, making it the best of the three places we stayed during this trip. We were there during Holy Week, so there were a lot of street closures. When we needed to order a taxi, the staff called one for us and even walked down the block to get it. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the front desk staff spoke English very well. The hotel is centrally located in Zona Centro, just about a 5-minute walk to the Diego Rivera Museum, a 2-minute walk to the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Primer Depósito, and a 5-minute walk to Plaza de la Paz. We highly recommend Casa del Rector Hotel Boutique for your stay in Guanajuato.

Friendly staff, VERY quiet, delicious food at the restaurant and cafe, immaculate grounds, and walkable. Valet parking was convenient, quick, and effortless. My only complaint was that we were not made aware that the pool would be closed for maintenance on our second day until the morning of. We were looking forward to spending time at the pool/rooftop, so if we had known on our first day that it was going to be closed, we would have planned accordingly on our first day.

- Stephen D (10/5): - Unique property with 12 spacious rooms excellently restored and appointed. Rooms have robes, slippers, coffee, tea and bottled water. Be careful with some of the rooms with uneven floors and small steps. Plenty of hot water, however, the Internet is weak (25-39 Mbps) especially in hallways. Pool and roof top bar areas present a wonderful view of the city. Restaurant charming, yet pricey. Many stairs, although the elevator helps out for the upper rooms, pool and roof top bar. Location is close to the action, yet a street away from the noise. One negative is that hotel does not have parking so if you have a car it has to be parked at a distant lot.

- Companion436266 (10/5): Best hotel of my Mexico City trip! - I really like the hotel's design; it's unique, with a European style and aesthetic stone features. It looks much better than the pictures on TripAdvisor. Additionally, the room didn't feel old at all. It was very spacious and comfortable. The pool and bar offer a fantastic view, where you can see both the sunset and sunrise over the entire city. The food is good, and the service is excellent. I would love to spend the whole day at the hotel! We would definitely come back and highly recommend it!

It was across from the laundry area and to our left was a walkway to the kitchen and maintenance area. Above the laundry area was the restaurant that played music with a loud bass from 9:30 am until 10:30 pm. Apparently this was well known since ear plugs were furnished. The only window was in the door. The room was comfortable. The toiletries were nice. The pool area was nice.

- mueller19641 (10/5): Romantic, cute hotel to spent a lovely time in Guanajuato - What a lovely cute hotel with a lot of ambiance. It is super close and convenient to the center. The rooms are nice, the pool was warm, the view from the bar is wonderful. Not cheap but wort the $$$. Reserve a master suit as the junior suit don’t have windows. Service that a few reviewers were complaining about was very good, so no complaints. Will be back
- Akenathon (10/5): Unique luxury spot right in downtown - The hotel is located on the same side street where the "Universidad" steps are. Even, on the same side of the street. Having a beautiful setting, the hotel consists of several volumes or buildings which add to the architectural beauty of the place. The rooms have the expected amenities and are spacious. The hotel is built around a central patio with different buildings surrounding it. It's a colonial patio where you enjoy breakfast and dinner. There is a salt water pool seated on top of a terrace, which adds to the charm of this hotel. It has it's own bakery, which by the way, is really good. Because of the way it's built you get isolated from any outside noise so you can enjoy the most delightful rest.

Breakfast served in the garden was quite good and the staff all pleasant. Good location that is walking distance to the many neat sites while remaining a calm oasis. Definitely recommend and would love to return.

The guy at the door did not help my girlfriend with luggage. Just not what I expected. Stayed a block away at an other place also. Way much better service. Your in the center of it all. Rooms are outstanding. One negative, Avoid restaurant the service is dismal, but food is good. Took forever to get them to take order, get drinks, never got refills or 2nd drink and 30 minutes to get the bill even after asking many times.

- Cali40rn1a (8/5): Beautiful building but very expensive - We stayed in room 12. Beautiful views from two small balconies and one large floor to ceiling windows. The room is exceptionally large and well furnished. Details are of quality. People are exceptionally polite. A couple of issues: 1) Though different people like different stiffness levels, my mattress was exceptionally hard. If you are a side sleeper, the setup is uncomfortable. 2) New pillows are needed. 3) Though breakfast was included, it was the same two options every single day. The fruit salad/granola was good. 4) Only coffee is included with breakfast but no espresso or cappuccino. Subpar quality coffee. 5) There is a great number of steps everywhere. If you have disabilities, this is not a suitable place. Overall, the stay was enjoyable.

- BeachBumsQR (2/5): BEWARE! - My husband and I spent two wonderful nights at Casa del Rector the beginning of September. There was not a glitch or complaint during our stay and at the time exceeded our expectations. Shortly following our departure I received correspondence from the hotel that they had inadvertently charged my incidentals deposit in full to my card and that they were not able to reverse the charge. I would need to contact American Express directly to deny the charge in order to receive a refund. As an operator of a hotel myself, I have never seen such a request, especially as a chargeback will negatively impact the merchant’s rating. After multiple correspondence with Adriana I did as requested and filed a dispute. Six weeks later, the dispute has still not been resolved and the refund to my card not processed. The hotel said they accepted the claim and that the charge was returned on their end, but American Express sais that the merchant never processed the required reply to the dispute. I am still traveling and in another country now and have spent countless time on my vacation corresponding with the hotel and following up with American Express. What should’ve been a glowing review has ruined my memories and taken away from my current travels.
- sparx44 (10/5): A wonderful place to stay with amazing staff - Beautiful historic property situated just a short walk from the center of town and virtually next door to Diego Rivera’s childhood home. We were greeted by Alex and Karina, who took excellent care of us throughout the 3 nights we were there. They had cold towels and tequila shots waiting for us, both of which were a nice touch after a long day of travel. Thanks Alex and Karina! Our room was lovely and comfortable with high ceilings, a nice spacious shower and all the amenities one could possibly want. The only downside to our room was that it sat right next to a walkway where the maintenance and housekeeping staff walked and talked and we could hear a fair amount of noise, but all in all, a great room. One final shout out to Paloma at the rooftop bar. We met her on her first day on the job. She was delightful and happy to help every time we returned for a cocktail. Thanks Paloma!
- lulu63 (8/5): Gorgeous Romantic Boutique Hotel - Only #13 in Guanajuato? This place was pretty spectacular. The service was excellent and the location couldn’t have been better. Get a balcony room and enjoy cocktails on the rooftop bar. Even breakfast (included) was good. Why not five starts? Our air conditioner want working - they let us know and offered to change our rooms for our second night- but frankly the room they upgraded us too was bigger and with two balconies so we stayed. Again: great service! Oh! And the pool small but perfect and cocktails served!

The issue is with the instructions given to the staff and stop people from bringing friends inside the premises. My two female friends were not allowed in the hotel. I had to explain every single time they will not be staying in the hotel. I just wanted to show the hotel. It was a very embarrasing experience. I had to tell them to leave me alone and stop harrasing us. My friends were not staying at all. Staff does not have the proper training to check who is and not staying. Very rude about it. I will not consider this hotel next time.

Our room was lovely but being close to the restaurant is was amazingly loud; sometimes it seemed like the conversations were in our room.... The coffee shop closes very early in the day. We wanted a coffee in the early-mid-afternoon and it was closed although you there was no sign saying they were closed.... quite odd, especially in a town that has a very big coffee culture. The view from the rooftop bar was amazing. And our room was beautiful

- betsyw2023 (10/5): Beautiful property and rooms, excellent service and amazing bakery! - My husband and I stayed at Casa del Rector in October of 2022. We absolutely loved it. The location is great so we could walk to the plaza and a ton of restaurants. It's a quaint entrance that then goes into the most amazing small bakery area. If you love sourdough bread this is some of the best I've ever had (and I'm from SF where there is great sourdough). Our room was beautiful. We stayed in Master Suite 3 and it was stunning and spacious - I would pick this exact room again. There is a rooftop pool and bar. We never went in the pool but went up to the bar each afternoon for a cocktail and to see the beautiful view. You could see all of Guanajuato. There is a fair bit of helicopter traffic for some reason but other than that it was very peaceful. The staff was also friendly and ready to help. We were warmly greeted each time we came and went. We were very pleased with this hotel and I'd certainly stay there again and recommend to others.

- Erin (10/5): - I cannot say enough about this hotel and staff. Everything and everyone were amazing, from start to finish. Check in can be tricky due to location, but the check in team from receptionist to bellhops/ valet sprang into action upon our arrival. They were amazing. Our room was spacious, clean, comfortable and the view was amazing. The rooftop/ pool bar team were awesome and the team at the rooftop restaurant were so inviting. The only complaint I would mention is, when getting ready to go out to dinner, I like to look into a long mirror before leaving. There was no long mirror in the room and the lighting in the bathroom was a bit poor. However, through our entire weekend stay, these are the only things to point out. Make a reservation, you will not be disappointed!

The room was super comfortable and had great amenities. We loved the views from the top and the food was delicious in their restaurant. We would highly recommend.

- Charin (10/5): Overnight Stay in Guanajuato - This hotel was great. We stayed in the Presidente Suite which was at the top of the hotel and included a beautiful view of Guanajuato. The amenities were great and the staff was friendly.

The constant drone of the music made it impossible to nap, read or relax until it was turned off at 10:30pm. We were disappointed not to be able to enjoy our room.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Stunning property - This hotel is incredibly beautiful and fantastically located in the historical center of Guanajuato. The rooms are all unique, architecturally interesting, and exceptionally clean. Would definitely stay here again. As other reviews noted, the included parking is quite far away; if you have experience driving in Mexico's smaller towns, this is doable in the daytime. A taxi took us from the parking lot to the hotel and back. There is not really anywhere to park in the center anyway, so it was good to have the car in a secure area until we were leaving the area.

- Daniel (10/5): Loved it. Great hotel with a beautiful view! - Excellent hotel. Beautiful view from the heated pool and we really spent a lot of time in it. I can't vouch for the food as we didn't eat at the hotel, but I would really love to see better cocktails from the rooftop lounge area. Strange to have a C+ margarita in such a beautiful hotel/environment in Mexico! We had a number of other cocktail from the bar and eventually ended up just bringing our own stuff to make drinks. This is an easy fix and hopefully management can get on that. Really great spot.

The service provided by Mariana, Cris, and Charlie are unparalleled to other 5 star hotels. The hotel is in the center of the hotel snd every evening they ensured I was safe with a 8pm Whats app text. The stay exceeded all of MY EXPECTATIONS!! Enjoy Guanajuato...I sure did

The cafe was delicious and a perfect start to our day...the fresh made cinnamon rolls were to die for. The rooms were huge and decorated with high quality furniture, linens and bathing products. Location was outstanding, within 4-5 blocks walking distance to restaurants, shopping, historical buildings. Service was top notch. Whomever designed this property to add modern and tasteful amenities while incorporating the original structure of the rectory was genius! 13 luxurious rooms in this beautiful boutique hotel...and only 4 units were occupied during our 3 night stay. It felt exclusive, pampering and private. Wish we would have booked a week!! Can't wait to go back!!
