Guest Reviews
- Andreea Diana (4/5): - No privacy, They have a rule of getting everyone out from the hostel everyday between 11:00-15:00 for cleaning and someone from the staff got inside of my room at 10:30AM to wake me up like I could be naked??????? He scared me so bad, And also another day I had fever and I felt so sick and I asked to sleep in my room all that time without going out of my room, the manager forced me to go out:)) I wish to happen the same for his daughter or family one day ! The guys from the reception were so kind and wanted to say yes, but he was an ass hole and also the guy who came in my room without my permission before the time we had to get out. So disgusting
- Ann (4/5): - This was our second one-night stay. A fortnight earlier we had been pleased. This time, there were people talking around our room and the building literally all through the night. Also, on arrival at 9.30 I was told there were no towels to rent, and to come back at 6 am.
- Emilio Daniel (2/5): - Worst hotel I have ever stayed in my 12 years traveling, the price was cheap but there was only one bathroom for the entire floor, 3 mixed showers for the entire floor there was not even a space let your clothes, the bedroom was having bedbugs!!!!! There’s not elevator and the breakfast is a joke. Visted for students then it was so noisy all the night.
- Amelie (10/5): - I wish I could remember her name, but I can't. One of your lovely ladies at the front desk made my stay so enjoyable - she was very welcoming and helpful, and checked in every morning at breakfast! So thankful, Amelie
- Ann (10/5): A great place to stay, even for old timers like us - We were perfectly aware that this is a hostel with bunk beds and shared toilet and showers, therefore could not award maximum comfort. But for the price and the location, the wonderful staff and free breakfast, we recommend highly.
- Adam (10/5): - Very basic but that's all we needed. In a very safe looking area that we found comfortable to walk around in at night
- Annie (6/5): - The rooms and common areas were clean but the beds were uncomfortable. You also have to leave the place between 11am and 3pm for cleaning purposes, which can sometimes be an inconvenient. You have to leave your room key at the front desk every time you leave. The problem is they don't ask for your ID when you get it back. They just give it to you so this is a safety issue according to me. That being said, iis very well located. There is no AC so it can get hot at night.
- Victoria (8/5): A one night stay over in the middle of the Olympic - I didn't arrive until 10.30pm, it was a bustling hostel with many different people and nationalities. The concierge was efficient and subtly humorous. The other guests were polite and helpful. I was on the ground floor with a window which I opened immediately, fortunately, as later the lock stuck on the door and I used it to clamber in. The showers were upstairs and were just what I needed. I slept really well although there was thunder. The woman cleaning the rooms was very pleasant and breakfast made me smile, it was Earl Grey tea, my favourite. Thank You
- Verified traveler (6/5): - This is a hostel experience where you will have a bed and a bathroom no more than that the breakefast is a piece of bread butter and a small juice. This is a good place to crash after walking all day, the reception personnel is used to deal with teenagers so they have a disrespectful attitude towards older people and also the differences in culture dont help.
- Annette (10/5): - I loved my stay. The room was very basic, but that was as described and no surprise. But a special mention goes out to it being very clean and the staff outstandingly lovely!!!
- Amar (10/5): - Great hostel for those who do not want to spend "hotel money" in Paris. But please keep in mind that it's a hostel and you might need to share bathroom and showers with others. If you are not ok with that, you should probably think about spending a little more for a hotel.
- Nathan (6/5): - A good cheap place to lay your head down in the middle of the action. Right beside the Bastille and easy access to the metro (and a McDonalds down the street). Staff was kind and helpful. Only real complaint was the condition of the property/rooms/showers, but you get what you pay for. Breakfast is basically just carbs and juice with no protein. Overall, not a bad stay given the convenient location and price.
- Jean (8/5): - Well situated to use metro.
- Verified traveler (8/5): good stay - The room was spacious and clean. The beds comfortable although getting on to top bunk was challenging!
The staff were very helpful and the breakfast worked well for us
- Ella (6/5): - The area was great. I didn’t like that we were forced to leave the hostel everyday from 11am to 3pm for cleaning, no air conditioning or fans and the room was hot.
- Selma (8/5): - Very nice staff, well located. Toilets were very small and always stank... There was only 1 working toilet on our whole level.
- Zahra (8/5): - I liked the breakfast service, the quiet hours and the location. I did not like how the comforter seemed like it hadn't been washed in a while and how stuffy the rooms felt even with the window open.
- Donna (8/5): - We stayed in a 4 bed with bathroom. Room 402. 1 night only.
Good: bed was comfortable, owners were super nice, staff was nice and helpful, free breakfast was ok. Safe location.
Bad: shower in our room was gross and bathroom was stinky. And bathroom is sooo small. We were also on the 4th floor so winding stairs up with luggage. No elevator. I would stay again but on lower floor and again only for 1 night.
- Ayumi (2/5): - I regret booking this hostel. After staying one night, we decided to change the place to stay. Of course, there was no reimbursement for deciding no to continue staying here, but it was a wise choice to change the hotel. I could not stand with the environment where there was no private bathroom, no shampoo and other amenities. The only good thing was the breakfast which came with the pain, butter, coffee, and a small butter cake.
- Morgan (6/5): - The private double was very small and dirty. No soap in the bathroom
- Alyssa (8/5): - There's not a lot in the room- no place to sit or a place to put your stuff really. It's just the bed and the sink, the sink has no soap (neither does the bathrooms). It's a fine property, easy access to metro and safe surrounding area. The room set up is just odd because there's a lot of empty floor space. They also request that you move your stuff off the floor for cleaning which is a bit odd. Breakfast is included, it's just a baguette with jam and butter, madeleine, orange juice, and coffee (you pay for more food if you want).
- Tomasz (10/5): - Very cool spot
- Amar (10/5): - Great place if you don’t mind the hostel feeling … and sharing bathroom and toilets.
- Vittoria Francesca (6/5): - You receive what you pay 🙃
- Amar (10/5): - This is NOT a 5 star hotel. This is a hoStel. If you have a problem with sharing bathrooms and toilets, maybe look into getting a hotel.
- Henrique (8/5): - Very good for the price
- Jeffrey (4/5): Terrible Wi-Fi and No Room Access - Come here if you want to be kicked out out of your room every day between 1100 and 1500. Stay for the terrible wi-fi.
- Rodney (6/5): - Difficulty sleeping because of loud conversations of other guests in the hostel section.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Not expensive, clean, good location for gare de lyon. Free breakfast was basic but fine. A bit noisy at night but its a big hostel so what else can you expect. Overall good value
- malachy (8/5): Football stay - One night stay
- Verified traveler (2/5): Pathetic Stay. Do not book! - This hostel is probably one of the worst ones ever. Doesn’t even have a common place to sit and eat dinner.
The rooms are very poorly lit and breakfast timings are absurd.
Will not recommend to anyone
- Antonio (10/5): - Simple, clean, friendly and conveniente accomodation. Thanks
- Yuliyan (8/5): - The room was clean and warm.
- peter (2/5): - The pictures were about a decent room, this is a very basic youthhostel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very clean. Breakfast was simple but just right yo start the day. The coffee was excellent. This is a a backpackers style of accommodation with multiple bunk beds and no towels provided. To sleep with a partner one must put two mattresses on the floor. No problem for us because the floors are very clean, not even dust bunnies under the beds. We had a very nice stay.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Expect the bare minimum and less. This place location is great but the property itself is old, no AC, internet is bad, the bathroom is shared, the shower is shared, the rooms themselves are old, unclean, smell. It is soooooooo humid and moist. The price is cheap but not worth a sleepless night
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Everything was old fashioned and used, but it was clean
- Yasmine (2/5): - No light in the shower, no towel, fourth floor without elevetor and people to chat with light on while others are sleeping.
Not expensive, but one has to prepare to suffer for it.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The shower room was too small and there was only one electricity plug for 3-4 people’s room
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Location is unique!
If you are expecting a 5-star service, go to a 5-star hotel.
This place is a HOSTEL for those who have simple needs
- Jeremy (4/5): - This is a very basic hostel. They have no lounge and the atmosphere is stoic. It’s in a decent part of the city which is its redeeming factor.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Your experience here will definitely depend on what you're looking for. There was everything from groups of college kids to old couples (Despite the supposed upper age limit). You get breakfast in the morning, but it reminds me of something out of Les Miz: Hard bread with jam/butter, juice box, little sweet cake thing, coffee/hot choc from the machine.
The beds were good enough, and the fact that you can have single-gender rooms of down to three people is a life saver. But that's counteracted by the fact that the staff kicks you out of the rooms from 11 to 3 every day...which is exactly when you want to have a nap if you're jetlagged.
The bathroom in my room smelled like rotten eggs, which was disturbing and gross. The communal showers had good hot water and pressure, but the door to the facilities itself was just a saloon-style swing door, so anyone could peer in while you were changing...and one day, there was a middle-aged naked man just standing in front of the mirror for over an hour, waiting for women to come in. My roommate and I yelled at him and had the staff escort him away, but still...unsettling.
I was lucky to have a corner room, so it was pretty quiet most of the time, and when people were loud, you could politely tell them you were sleeping and they'd keep it down. But if you are in the long hall, that could differ.
9/10 of the staff is wonderful. One is grouchy. Staff has an annoying habit of pumping up the music in the lobby the more people appear.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The property was fine. I enjoyed my stay. I had a bed, I had wifi, I had a place to store my luggage, I had a shower, and I had breakfast. What more could you want?
- Kyle (6/5): Cheap but for a reason - The room only had one outlet for four beds that was about six feet off the ground, the bathroom would flood after one shower into the bedroom. No towels, dirty linens on the bed when I arrived. It’s super cheap but worth paying a little more for something nicer.
- Victor (2/5): - It was the worst hostel that I stayed in my life, nothing works there, in my room for 4 person we only have one point of electricity, the WiFi doesn't working and we hadn't a towel. The staff don't want to help us, and every time that I needed something they don't care. I don't recommend hostel for anyone.
- Johnny (8/5): - Comfortable nice area/location close to metro lots of shops and cafes restaurants
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Stay away from this place even if you are on a budget. Not Suitable for elderly.
No Lift. No Towels. 1 toilet for the whole floor. 2 shower room for all.
Not recommended. But If you really want to save money, take the risk.
I did not feeel comfortable with this place. Not at all.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location, friendly staff, and clean place. - Overall, a good stay. I would stay there again.
The location is great; only 10 minutes walk to the Seine and tourist attractions and about 3 minutes walk to the nearest metro station.
The accommodation is basic -- pillow, pillow case, bed sheet, and blanket are provided but towel is an additional charge. There is no soap or shampoo so plan accordingly.
The staff keeps the place very clean and they are all very friendly. Temperature of the building and room is kept just right. The rooms are off limits from 11:00-15:00 for cleaning.
There are small safes in the room to keep your valuables.
Only 2 toilets and 3 shower stalls per floor. There were 13 rooms on my floor, and and one of the showers was broken). However, since I was there during off peak season, there was never a problem.
Breakfast is also basic (a small baguette with butter and jam, a box of orange juice, a madeleine, and bottomless hot drink), but the staff has the breakfast ready on time every morning.
Wifi is strong in common area and in room.
- Verified traveler (4/5): October 2018 - Very very noisy at night. Toilet smelt horrible.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - About 15 minute walk from Bastille stop. Room stinked, shared showers didn't have light. Men toilet on 1st floor was always dirty and nasty. Wifi never worked. Breakfast was 1 baguette, 1 coffee, 1 jelly, 1 butter, extra had to be bought.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Congratulations, the worst hostel I’ve ever stayed:)
It is a building without lift, so if you bring a big luggage, here will definitely train your muscles.
And it’s also a hotel with rude staffs.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - No elevator, must leave your room between 10am-3pm every day? What?
- Edwin (8/5): - good location, near metro station, restaurants and reasonable cost.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good stay - Good common areas and vibe. Very clean and well located. Only thing is it closes from 10am -3pm everyday so you have to leave the room and hostel.
- Liam (8/5): Good hotel for travellers - My group stayed at this hotel for one night only so we didn’t get to experience this hotel fully, however all the facilities were immaculate and it was simple to come and go as you please. The breakfast is okay and enough to get you going in the morning. The location of the hotel is good and you can find a metro station not far around the corner to transport you to anywhere you want in Paris!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good location - The location was preferable because it was easy to go around. The room/hotel was clean enough to stay. Just we couldn't wash hands in a toilet. Other guests were making noise at nights, but the receptionist took care of the situation quickly.
- Joy (2/5): - Poor organization, super uncomfortable. Has no air conditioner or fan, so you can not sleep now during summer. Dirty in terms of old facilities, mold in the bathroom, etc...
- Darko (4/5): 2.5/5 - Probably the worst hostel I ever stayed in. Avoid if possible.
- Rohit Sankaran (8/5): Tiny place and budget stay in paris - Overall a good place for single travel for a night stay.
Cant stay for more than a night. I liked the reception of the staff..extremely good, but the place is too tiny!!!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Doesn't justify the savings - Weird hostel rules put a damper on the overall stay. Would not recommend, spend a little bit extra and stay at a place that cares about your experience and not their own convenience.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Paris night - Good place to stay in Paris on a budget. I love the 24/7 front desk. Other places you have to be before certain time to be able to check in. Guys there were friendly and helpful. Bathroom was too small. The sink took up almost all standing area. Bring your own toiletries. They rent small towels 2 each. Breakfast was OK if you are fine with bread, coffee, and juice but there are places close by if you want something else.
- Verified traveler (10/5): You won't find cheaper and closer to the action - This place is in the heart of Bastille! If you are looking for a 5 star hotel, go some place else.
- MApe (8/5): - Hotel is ok, wifi limited to certain hours, I did not like the rotation of rooms, but it was fun I met very cool people
- Cristian (6/5): Good location awful service - The location is pretty good and for the most part everything looks ok. However it is very annoying that they don’t have nothing to plug in your phone next to your bed which can be easily fixed with an extension cord. Some of the staff was very nice and some of it was also extremely rude. There was this gentleman that worked night shift one of the nights I stayed there and I saw him screaming at a customer and I asked politely a question about where to find a store and he was very rude when he answered. Unacceptable.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - They kick you out from 11-3pm which sucks if you had a night out and want to sleep in late. WiFi is terrible. Beds are okay good enough to sleep. Not much really that stands out!
- Craig (2/5): Avoid if possible - They made me change rooms each night, all rooms had one outlet, and one of them had the shower leak into the room.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It’s ok place to stay if you want just short term accomodation.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The Indian guy at the reception needs to be told that he is there to help clients and be nice to them. We pay so we need service and someone to treat us nicely, he was rude and talked to me with attitude.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Cheap, fairly cheerful - Overall ok though a bit surprised that we had to pay €3 each extra for a duvet cover!
- jackson (6/5): 一分錢一分貨 - 櫃台人員對應不錯 還有免費早餐 只是插頭只有一個很不方便 這個價錢來說已經相當不錯了,以這個價錢來說是物有所值的。
- Carlos (2/5): Choose another hostel - For the same price or a few more bucks, choose another hostel.
They will change your room/bed everyday. It is very uncomfortable to have to move your luggage downstairs to luggage room and then have to move them again everyday trough stairs, no elevators.
It is annoying and ridicolous not to be able to get into your room from 11am to 3pm everyday you stay there.Yep.I was there on winter and it was snowing in Paris, so you cannot get rest in your room.Go to MacDonal's or somewhere else or get freeze.
No internet from 12 to 3 pm, if you need to get an uber or use google maps, go outside and look for a wifi spot. And you need to log in every half hour.Terrible experience. Im not picky at all.
- Quelle (6/5): Affordable in a pinch. - Really affordable stay. Pleasant staff. Safe box in rooms. Just needed to be told where the showers were, as when I saw the basins & it said the bathrooms were shared, I honestly thought that I was supposed to bath from the sink with the roommate watching.
- Patric (2/5): Worst hostel ever - I've been to hundreds of hostels over my time, never had one this bad. On my first night I asked for a refund and was refunded, I was trying to sleep in the metro where it was better. This hostel is, noisey, rude, unwelcoming, dirty. The wifi is slow and kicks you if every hour, so good luck getting messages when you sleep. You CAN NOT be in the hostel between 11am-4pm. The illegal immigrants they have a staff will cuss you out straight to your face and tell you to leave your room after they wake you up. They say this is for "cleaning". The showers are like a fire hydrant, the pressure so hard that hurts. The hot water last 5 minutes or less. You are not giving towels. There's no elevator, just 75 steps, I counted. You cannot leave the hotel with your room key, you must give it to the rude receptionist every time. The beds are so old that there's an indent in the middle of it that your body cannot get around. The blankets have stained blood and do not fit properly. Pillows are so old they do not fluff up. The bunk beds are not bolted down, so when you climb the ladder entire bed tips over and tries to fall on you. The only power outlets in entire room are in one corner not near any bed. There is no central heating or air, so it gets humid and cold quite often. The walls are so thin I can hear the other residents whispering. There is only one bathroom per level of the hotel. They're were centipedes crawling in the hallway. This is the worst hostel in my life.
- Verified traveler (6/5): it was okay - It's just a hostel for one or two night. Overall not so bad; there was no lift, bed was a bit dirty, no concent for charging. Their wifi was also slow, so I just used my data. Every room has a private bathroom and hot water comes out fast. They offer a breakfast for free and worker was very friendly. It is served with a small baguette with jam and butter, coffee, and madeline. Staffs were nice but one of them was incredibly rude and not helping.
- Afshin (8/5): Within vicinity of localities and attractions - We loved the locality of this place. Within walking distance to a lot many attractions, and attractions start from right across the street. It's Paris. Try to be quite in time for your breakfast, if you decide to eat in, as they may run out. Front desk personnel are very helpful.
- abigail (8/5): Basic crashpad but overall exactly what I expected - I stayed in a two bed bunk room by myself and no real complaints. Its a hostel so its really basic. No towels or soap but I knew to bring those with me. The beds are basic bunk beds with one pillow. However the room are impeccably clean on the daily which is nice.
- Maryann (10/5): great location - many restaurants nearby. feel so safe walking late at night. restaurants stay open late. metro station is 4 minutes walk. so convenient.with luggage storage after check out.
- C (8/5): Bed, shower, breakfast....no complaints! - Stayed at AIJ for a few nights and had a pretty good experience. I went into the situation knowing full and well that I'd be staying in a hostel, which helped prepare mentally for any awkward situations, language barriers, etc. The hostel was very modest, with 4 beds in each room and a bathroom. You have to leave every day from 11am-3pm while they do cleaning. Also, there is a petite breakfast served in the morning. All the staff is extremely helpful and know a lot about the city. The location of the hostel makes it very easy to get to touristy places but also great to see normal Parisian city life. Highly recommended.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great location - I go there for the location. It's clean and comfortable too.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Staff very helpful and friendly. However, breakfast could have been more plentiful and more imaginative.
Walking through parts of Paris wasn't particularly pleasant due to unpleasant smell.
- Elena (10/5): - Perfect
- jalal (4/5): No hygiene - No hygiene. No bed sheet change. No handwash. Breakfast is just to mention.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice hostel, close to public transport. Room's are small and beds could do a upgrade. Otherwise friendly staff. Breakfast was included but don't expect much
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice hostel, close to public transport. Room's are small and beds could do a upgrade. Otherwise friendly staff. Breakfast was included but don't expect much
- Dominic (6/5): It's a hostel... - Clean and cheap but comfort compromised by bunk beds...
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent place for budget travellers - Very good price/performance in Paris. Every morning from 7.00 AM here is breakfast available for free. Rooms are comfortable, and equiped with safe boxes. Please keep in mind, that check in time starts at 3.00 PM. Excellent location - walking distance to Notre Dame - half hour.
