Guest Reviews
- Emiliano (10/5): - Gentilissimi
- 650leighanns (8/5): Wonderful staff - We stayed here for a short skiing holiday and to watch a family member compete in the youth Olympic festival. The resort is great and this hotel is no different. The people who run/work there are so kind and helpful, they really can't do enough for you. A few of the members of staff speak fluent English which was great as we booked quite last minute and I didn't have time to brush up on my Italian.
Rooms are warm and comfortable, bathrooms are bigger than in most hotels and there are plenty of towels.
The breakfast is lovely with a lot of choice and the staff refill it constantly - the croissants were very nice.
Evening meals were great! Very varied day to day over the three courses and a nice selection of salad to choose from also.
One of my favourite things about the hotel was that they allow dogs, and whilst I didn't take one, I enjoyed being able to pay everyone else's!
Special mention to the front of house staff and housekeeping - they work very hard for the guests. If we come back to Piancavello we would stay here again!
- sarahsK4846ZC (10/5): Ian Patrick. Room 127 - What a wonderful hotel. Comfortable, warm and close to the slopes. The staff are fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble and they helped us with all our queries in a timely manner. We would highly recommend this hotel for a ski break. The rooms are quirky and all have balconies. The shower is absolutely amazing after a hard day's skiing and dinner is plentiful and tasty. Breakfast equally os good. And staff are constantly on hand to clear away your table and replenish the breakfast buffet. There is a spa but we didnt use it as didnt really have time. We would highly recommend this lovely cosy hotel to anyone.
- Joshua (10/5): Wouldn’t stay anywhere else 10/10 - We rented 3 rooms for our party of 6 for a Christmas Ski trip, and I couldn’t have been happier with the service and friendliness of all the staff. Some of the best customer service I’ve ever had. Extremely close to the slopes, a wonderful bar with great food just a small walk away. Very nice spa for really cheap. They also served amazing dinners for really cheap as well. Couldn’t have been happier with where we decided to stay. Would absolutely book here again! Also they spoke English quite well!
- Verified traveler (8/5): A pleasant stay - Great location.
Very close to ski.
Big clean room.
Great customer service.
- cogal13 (8/5): Stay, ski, and soak? - Stayed 5 days for a family and friends ski trip. Overall, friendly, comfortable, accessible to skiing (short walk), storage for ski/board equipment. We enjoyed the people at the front desk-they also make great cappuccinos! We felt loved by the wide variety of foods and drinks at the buffet breakfast. We were surprised by the selection and quality of the dinner meal. We had the best server. Staying here was very easy for our families and friends to be able to enjoy each other and ski and relax. A couple of things to keep in mind: 1) no ski equipment inside the hotel and don't wear your ski boots inside--there are storage lockers in the "basement" and you can enter the hotel from that entrance. 2) they do have one hot tub. However-it costs and, more importantly, has very strict rules about using-like everyone (up to 4) must enter the hot tub at the same time-your time for a soak is strictly monitored-and whatever you do, don't touch any of the controls (or suffer the wrath of the "spa monitor"). Bring your own towel to avoid extra charges. Okay--maybe it's Just a "stay and ski" review.
- Daniela (8/5): Turismo sciistico - Un gradevole albergo.
- 986keithr (8/5): Good Value Family Hotel beside the necessary facilites - I stayed at Hotel Antares for a weekend with my daughter and her partner. We had two rooms, I had a single room which had a double bed made up from two single beds and my daughter had a double room with a double bed. The beds were very comfortable. The rooms had carpet on the floor, which is unusual for a ski resort as the floors are subject to a lot of abuse from heavy duty foot ware. In general the carpets were lasting the pace in the rooms but the hallway was suffering a little with a permanent stain from foot traffic on it. Having said that the hotel was very clean and well maintained. The rooms were very comfortable and warm. The en-suites were spacious, dated, but actually nice and quirky as you can almost date when they were constructed from the furniture, which I am delighted to say was kept as original.
The staff were pleasant and helpful and the hotel has a relaxed atmosphere.
We had breakfast each morning of our stay which was adequate for calorie hungry skiers. We did not have dinner in the hotel although the menu looked interesting. We wanted to eat out around the village for variety. On the morning we were leaving before normal breakfast commenced our breakfast was made ready for us specially.
My daughter and her partner partook in the facilities of the wellness centre and they enjoyed it very much. I would recommend this hotel as it is close to the ski pass office, a ski hire shop, a bar and a nice restaurant. The hotel is at one end of the village but as it takes about 10 minutes to walk from one end of the village to the other, everything is within easy walking distance.
- 443paulaf (4/5): Just enough for spending the night - This hotel offers too little. The rooms have good mattresses in the beds and the bathroom is ok. The heating is good. However the hotel does not offer anything else. Breakfast is poor and confuse. Do not take the dinner option here. It is outrageously expensive. The ladies at reception desk are very nice and helpful. Their check-in time is far too early.
- SkiMom (8/5): Stayed for Ski Event - Hotel Antares is located in the Piancavallo Ski area. The hotel is close to lifts, the kiddie park, restaurants and other hotels. The staff speaks English (and probably several other languages) which was helpful since our Italian was limited. It was clean, reasonable priced and mostly comfortable. It is not fancy, but your typical ski hotel. Very family friendly. It has a bar, a good breakfast program and a childcare service.
- GoranIgaly (10/5): Great value for money - Room was big, clean and warm. Staff was professional. Brekfasts were various and rich. Optional dinners were excellent and in pleasent atmosphere. Possibility of using garage was very valuable on -15 deg Celsius :) All objects (ski slopes, skating rink, shop, info center etc.) are on walking distance from hotel (several hundred meters). During our stay there were no natural snow, but majority of slopes were covered by excellent artificial snow so it was pleasure to ski on red slopes. In one word - we want to come back!
- Smellabellsmum (10/5): Perfectly comfortable for ski break - We booked two rooms for a half term family ski break. We chose hotel because it offered a great half board deal with ski hire and passes included, through activity breaks.com
We paid a really cheap price for half term dates and the hotel met our expectations in every way. Rooms were super clean, comfy, good showers and well-maintained each day. The only downside was there were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room so you had to make it downstairs for that all important first cuppa.
The meals in the evening were Italian style, buffet salad to start followed by a primo piatto of pasta, gnocchi or risotto, a secondo piatto of meat or fish and a pudding. The puddings were passable but we were all really full by then anyway. Breakfasts are fruit salad, yoghurt, juice, coffee, hot chocolate, scrambled egg, cheese, ham, toast, pastries.
There service in the hotel was friendly and attentive. We felt welcome and relaxed, especially by Luisa who had a genuine smile for every guest.
Five minutes walk to the slopes and also a kids club available from when the lifts close until dinner time, if you need it.
We would definitely stay in this hotel again and loved our stay in Piancavallo.
- wineguruonwheels (8/5): Very good holiday! - We enjoyed 5 day with my wife and two kids. Nice people, friendly and attentive service. Very clean facilities and rooms. Good entertainment for kids at night which is a great plus for parents. Very good and varied food in every dinner, also happy to accommodate kids portions. It will benefit for a general upgrade since the look and feel of the place is very 80s (and not current 4 stars standard) but since the rest is so good you could forgive them for the journey in a time travel machine. We will come back next year.
- _X800FR (6/5): Summer vacation - Full of potential. Very nice location, close to a lot of attractions, nice rooms, wide public areas, no Wi Fi in rooms and very old TV, if will be renovated it will be an excellent hotel for both winter and summer vacation.
- cricketfans (8/5): Another great holiday - Second year at the Antares, just as good as the first. Food is plentlyful and of a very good standard all the staff were extremly hepful always willing to put theirselves out for us. Childrens entertainers were very much appreacaited although a little scary on occasions!
Through activity breaks booked a great ski holiday which included ski passes and ski hire in this delightful hotel. See you all next year hope I will see all readers of this feedback there
- plocke1470 (8/5): Hotel Antares - Great ski location and food - Hi just returned from 4 days in the Hotel Antares booked through activitybreaks.com. Excellent value for money. Rooms quite large and clean. We had 2 double rooms with a joining door and each room had 2 single beds made into a double with a sofa bed. Plenty of spare linen and pillows and 4 quilts in total incase you feel the cold but the hotel is warm and cosy. Plenty of snow and good skiing resort. This is our first skiing holiday and consisted of my husband and I with our 2 children 3 and 6 year olds. We all enjoyed the resort as plenty to do for the little ones. The hotel has a nice spa on the ground floor with a large hot tub that costs the four of us 15 euros for 20 mins, which you need after a day of skiing. The children loved the miniclub and especially Marty who is fantastic with the kids. You can leave the kids there while you go skiing if you want. My kids didnt want to leave and are still talking about it now. The hotel was on a half board basis and we cannot fault the food as it was amazing every night and a bottle of wine is only 10 euros (prosecco cape de vigna - gorgeous) Soft drinks are quite pricey at 2 euros but this is everywhere in Italy. Maybe could improve the desserts but they were all really tasty its just my preferences I prefer more stogey cakes. The portions are huge, including the starter. You have to choose what you are going to have for the next day and hand it into reception before 7pm each day or just leave it on table when you have finished dinner. Breakfast is continental so everything is virtually cold they do scrambled eggs but again it isnt served that hot. Still good selection though. Only fault with this hotel was the lack of information when you check in, we felt like we was getting on their nerves as we had to keep asking about things about the hotel and the resort throughout our stay. Would definitely return.
- Missfinedining78 (10/5): Fantastico... highly recommended!!! - I stayed at The Antares with 6 other girls on a short ski break, on arriving at the resort and hotel, we found that everywhere was very quiet due to low snow fall. On arrival at a very quiet hotel, we found an extremely helpful and cheerful receptionist, staff that had a great sense of humour and were so helpful. The rooms were very comfortable with a great balcony and although the hotel was a little dated compared to other ski hotels it was more than adequate. The staff really made this place and I would return here alone as they were such a compliment to the hotel. They were really helpful organising us ski passes, boot hire and even made recommendations for lunch and guided us in the right direction for the music evening! On the downside the hotel is quite far from the village a good 15min walk but it is a very pleasant walk and only uphill on the way home. I highly recommend Hotel Antares and Piancavallo as an exceptional and personal ski resort, ideal for families, couples and friends, if you want a wild apres ski Piancavallo is not the place but for everything else it is outstanding.
- DenMurIreland (8/5): Nice hotel with very friendly & helpful staff - We traveled to the Antares Hotel for a weeks ski trip.We had a 15 month old with us.The hotel is located in a nice location approx 300 metres from one of the Lift stations. The room in the hotel is of a nice size with an ensuite (shower and not a bath) and balcony with a lovely view up the mountains(so we could see a few of the ski runs). The hotel is more of a 3 star rating than a 4 star. The rooms are a little dated and one thing I found very hard was to find clothes in the wardrobe as the lighting in the room was bad (sounds strange but friends in another room found it too). The big attraction for us for this hotel would have to be the staff. They could not have been more helpful which meant alot to us as when traveling with a baby there are many additional things required (eg Bottle heating etc.) and nothing was to much. The bar was nice however it was very quiet and a little expensive for the drinks.Restaurant was really cosy with entertainment one of the nights and again great staff. The hotel had an entertainer who was great for giving us information about the place and was always helpful. They also provide a kiddies club with a room kitted out for children. The girl who ran this service was so nice.
Overall I would recommend this hotel and would definately return.
- Guest (10/5): Fab Hotel - Good Food, Good Service and Clean! - What can i say. We were there for a few nights and we were very happy with it. Good all rounder with great food, good service with staff speaking english and very clean!
- sam03030 (6/5): Nice hotel - First of all, you have to know that a four-star hotel in Italy is not as good a deal as a four-star hotel in some other countries. It should be ranked as a low 3-star. But nevertheless, the hotel was nice, clean, the staff friendly, the waiters very professional, the food was all right. They have a small gym, sauna, jacuzzi, and a mini club for children. We went to Piancavallo skiing. The slopes are nice, especially in low season where there are no crowds and you have a slope all for yourself. It is especially good for first steps and children. It tends to be very crowded during Saturday and Sunday.
