Guest Reviews
- Margherita (4/5): Disappointing - When I asked the staff for towels for the bathroom and the kitchen, a man kindly provided them to me on a daily basis. I arrived in Bradford at 4 PM on a rainy Sunday, without receiving any instructions on how to enter the flat. Fortunately, a kind gay that was in the street phoned the staff member and informed me that my accommodation had been changed to a different location on the opposite side of the city. I had booked to stay near the university, but the new accommodation is about a 30-minute walk away.
Later, I received all the necessary codes to access the flat. The accommodation includes an internal kitchen, but the fridge is very noisy, and the curtains do not block out light during the night. I was only provided with the Wi-Fi password two days after my arrival. Additionally, the TV remote control did not work at all.
- Elias (1/5): Alton Apartment not exist, it was closed more than 6 months. - This property doesn’t exist , was fake, and I spoke to Mohamed who is expected to belong in the house manager, but his not. I told him I want refund and cancellation cost and taxi fee paid.
This person called me when I was in train to Bradford to cancel my booking and told me it was unforeseen and unfortunately no room available what is fraud because this building closed more than 6 months. I have all his records with me from call to text message. This was the second time that you let me down. I have to go to find another place to stay. I want refund with cancellation cost of £43.12, Taxi £18.00 and £86.24 for 2 nights, TOTAL £147.37.
If not, we will see in court, I have all evidence and witness to take in court.
I am not happy with this case because I am very upset and disappointed.
I look forward to hearing back from you soon as possible.
Many thanks,
Elias Alvarenga
- Maclain (1/5): Bad - Double booked and no advice of this then mobile telephone number then asking for details to send refund dodgy I phoned them only to get reply text only no answer from number given booked elsewhere. bad taste for customer
- Ayowale (2/5): - The customer service was excellent but the facility is not to my taste
- Kamutuua (5/5): My stay was a very short hours but I enjoyed - I love the property it was very clean place I like the bathroom it was very clean and toilet ,it was very cold you need to put extra blanket or lives the instruction of how to switch on the heat ,and the tv remote was not working.
- Ernest (1/5): Bad -
- Giorgio (1/5): Avoid. I booked one property and offered a complete different one that was dirty. - I arrived at the address that was mentioned in the booking, and because I couldn't find the entrance, I called the phone number provided asking for information, only to be told that I wasn't staying in this particular building. I had to go to another part of town, to another property. The person on the phone wasn't going to meet me, but one of his associates. He came down with the key and pointed at the 1 bedroom flat that I was supposed to stay in. The flat was filthy, with stained pillows and bed sheets, broken furniture, no toilet roll and the shower was also stained and dirty. It also felt very unsafe. I decided not to stay at the property and booked somewhere else.
This is not what I booked and paid for. Stay away!
- Raimonds (9/5): Superb -
- Martin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Boddy (1/5): The wrong address. - When I eventually found your hotel and looked at the room, it was nice&cosy, clean and tidy..But , because of some misinformation when booking,I was fed up, cold and hungry, looking for an address that did not exist. Being given misinformation, about your address, finding your hotel the day after I should have checked in. I did receive a phone call asking where I was, I explained to this individual what happened.I have not received my money back 106.89 pounds/pence. I would like my money back. But I would book your hotel again, now I know where it is.

I contacted the hosts and he told me it does exist but it’s double booked and he put the phone down on me. I had to book a hotel at night time because I was let down. Be very careful from booking this place as I believed it’s a scam and it does not exist! Even the picture of the property it’s not like this!!!! - Adam (1/5): Would of been better off in the Ukraine - The property was disgraceful sitting in the middle of the city centre with bars on the window a window that wouldn’t close blood and piss stained sheets The property was disgraceful sitting in the middle of the city centre with bars on the window a window that wouldn’t close blood and piss stained sheets dirty boxers left in the chest of drawers really bad had to argue with the landlord to refund my money after I slept on the couch the first night because I couldn’t get a booking until the next day 1* all round the icing on the cake was a crackhead screaming I CANT FIND MY FING PIPE at 7am
- Awais (6/5): Good location & value of money but do not expect too much regarding cleanliness & customer service. - Excellent location and best food outlets nearby. Nice location to spend time with kids near Broadway shopping centre. Bed sheets not clean and they do not clean room on a daily basis

- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional - Everything Nothing
- Againsthegrain (3/5): The worst place I have ever stayed in my life! - Firstly, what a ridiculous system, I received an email shortly before arriving to go to an address different to where I thought I was staying, arrived and was confused, nobody to see, no reception. I had to call a number from original booking email, someone said they will come and meet me. I waited for about an hour for somone to turn up to meet me outside to give me keys etc, no staff are in the building!. Dirty, damp towels neatly folded on the bed like they were freshly laundered. Dirty marks all over the walls and bed. Mismatched furniture with cigarette burns, no chair at the rickety desk, leaking sink, Dirty marks in the so called en-suite bathroom which was a static caravan style shower room fixed into the corner of the room. I didn't feel comfortable enough to shower, I seriously consudered leaving and looking for somewhere else but as I was only there 1 night I put up with it. Broken smoke alarm hanging off the ceiling, radiator on full heat that couldn't turn off, scruffy and view of overgrown and full of weeds outside area out of window with discarded clothes and furniture. A horrible area with rough people hanging around outside and staying in the building which stank of weed. It was like staying in a block of flats on a rough council estate! I would never, ever go back there!
- Agnieszka (1/5): It was the worst experience ever - I write it with a heavy heart
bathroom: shower holder broken, no temperature controler, toilet: broken lid, sink - hairs and dirt in sink, no toiletries
bedroom: damaged study chair leg, handles missing on bedside drawers, dirty bed sheets and pillows, dust covering everything, walls dirty with old paints, curtains with missing sections - no privacy,
kitchen: no kitchen utensils available, cupboards and drawers with broken handles and shelves, molding food in cupboards and fridge, no cutlery available
What’s more, the security door was broken
In addition - owner poor contact. It was the worst experience ever
Keep away!
- York (2/5): There’s no Alton Apartment that’s just a made up name to sound posh! - I followed Google maps to lead me to the Apartment after getting off the bus, and it led me to the Post Code that was indicated on the Booking, however it didn’t exist, in fear and frustration I started asking shops and locals, we all couldn’t find the address. “Alton Apartments” didn’t exist, I went back to the booking and tried to call but there was no phone number, it was by chance that a lady come out of one block and pointed to one car and she said speak to that guy as it turned out he was one of the landlords, he drove me to the street next door after refusing to be left to go and find it by myself. He pointed me to one Apartment block and left, from them I looked, buzz door, tried to see if there was a reception area and there was nothing, later I saw a hand written poster with 2 mobile numbers I rang and the landlord got the cleaner to come and open the door and subsequently lead me to my Apartment “Alton Apartments” doesn’t exist, From the outside the building looks new and it’s beautiful, on the inside and to the guest, it was one of those spaces that were converted to accommodate all manner of people during the Covid pandemic, the furniture is all second hand, the bed did have “clean sheet” but stains on white material will always show! They provided a tower too, I informed myself to lay far from the head board as it looked suspicious, this led me to having to pull the quilt, and am so glad that I did as it was so dirty, I text the landlord and informed him that it’s only fit for the bin or a dog and not human beings, it’s not surprising that I received insect marks all over my body, the entire bed was infected with I don’t know what? I took pictures, tried sending them to the landlord but his phone doesn’t except images, plus the shower is very bad condition, it’s not fit for usage, no water comes through the shower head, there’s a big rip in the plastic cable, it’s impossible to have a shower! I was on the first floor and the way they constructed the toilets means that each time someone flushes up to two floors above you can hear, each time someone leaves their room to enter or exist you can hear!
I was in Leeds, days prior coming to Bradford, stayed 3 Nights staying in a hostel and it was much more cleaner, quiet and cheaper plus I never received any insect bites on my body
- Chicuio (2/5): Very poor -
- Olufisayo (1/5): Bad - The property was not well kept. Has this funny smell. I can literally hear cigarette smoke from the window. Imagine no bathing soap and other necessary things provided. It is crap.

- Lewis (7/5): Good -
- Carol (2/5): Worst place ever - Nothing I didn't realise this was student accommodation when I booked it. The room had too much furniture in it and not in good condition either. The ceiling light was a blue bulb and was way too dark. Had to ask for a towel and given just 1 small bath towel. Very noisy with doors banging constantly till 3am. Shared kitchen at end if corridor but you have to bring your own drinks, milk etc and a cup. Definitely would not be back or recommend this to anyone.
- Ronald (7/5): Be aware - Room was good, bed super comfy & the duvet lovely and warm The address given on the booking is NOT where the apartments are...
The address given is Great Horton Road, the actual property is on Claremont, on the right hand side near the end, it's got multicoloured blocks on the building...
Ring the proprietor and he meets you, shows you your room n gives you the keys
- Bobb (1/5): Alton Apartment is the WORST!!! I won’t recommend 🤢 - I paid for a room that I was unable to stay in. Communication was very poor
- Esma (8/5): Very good -
- Ben (1/5): Bad -
- David (9/5): Superb -
- Rafał (6/5): Pleasant - I had my own room Very late check in, no teas or coffes
- Awais (5/5): Overall better or OK if you go there with low budget and do not expect too much - The location is close to amenities and public places with good food shops and restaurants. The manager, Mohammad, is very helpful. This apartment is mostly used by homeless people recommended by the local council and it is not a hotel or private house kind of place. The building is good but the first priority of the management is not cleanliness.
- Abbas (1/5): Bad -
- John (7/5): Good -

- Oye22 (6/5): Pleasant -
- Hinchliffe (1/5): It was awful - IF YOU ARE A PERFORMER WORKING AT THE THEATRE DON’T STAY HERE YOU WILL HATE IT, This is the worst property I’ve ever stayed whilst being on tour. The landlord didn’t respond to any of my messages and the room is vile. It stinks and there is constantly people bashing and crashing and shouting. The whole experience
- Maria (1/5): Bad - Nothing because I pay and nobody let me in !!! It’s very bad nobody let me in!!!
- Rachel (3/5): Awful. - Inexpensive I booked this thinking it was a short walk from the theatre. It was actually quite far away and in what seemed like a rough area. The Uber fare back cancelled out any saving made! The place was dingy student accommodation.
- Ben (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cornelia (5/5): In all fare it was what I needed at the time no complaints - The price it was cheap the manager on site Mohammed very pleasant and the guest welcoming. Bradford made me feel welcome God Bless Blinds broken had to do a self fix with blanket

- Alexander (4/5): Disappointing - The bed Untidy kitchen
- Trevor (9/5): Great accommodation for a short stay in Bradford - The room was just right for my 6 night stay in Bradford, my room was nice and clean and there was a kitchen with all cooking facilities including fridge freezer and washing machine. The staff member that I met upon arrival was polite and friendly. The location was great as I was only a few minutes walk from the city centre with everything I needed on my doorstep Great value for money and I would definitely use this place again. Only thing I could have done with was a few more hangers in the wardrobe but that was all. Never thought to take any photos but will do the next time I stay to add to my review.
- Julius (4/5): - The whole building looks fantastic but the apartment I stay was poorly maintained. The painting isn't good enough, the bedding is very poor. Looking around the white bed spread there are some black spots dotted here and there. In the ensuit toilet and showers, there's no provision of toilets handwash, the kitchen available is terribly maintained. The available fridge is stinky and dirty with rotten tomatoes, onion and expired milks and all sorts smelly item. I can't even use the available kettle to boil water for my tea in the morning.
- Alister (1/5): Stinky, noisy and hosts are lazy, they don't care - Nothing. The staff were useless, I wasn't allowed to check in until 5:30pm, then the guy who was supposed to let me in decided to go shopping just before I arrived, so I had to wait outside for another 20 minutes. Inside, my room was filled with a horrid stench like rotten fish, I asked the "host" for some air freshener but they just ignored me after multiple messages. There was someone going in and out all night, banging doors, and screaming kids, so I barely slept. This place is a dump! It's also the third and last booking I'll be making through this site. In all 3 cases, the photos looked nothing like the real accommodation, it's just dodgy! I'll never stay here again and will never use booking.com again.
- Smith (1/5): Bad - Location was great Couldn't find the building and on the building had a different name to what it's advertising on here, didn't even realise was a shared kitchen till the day I left cos nobody told me it was there some guy let me in half asleep just give me my room key and I went in my room that was it , I left 2 days early so asked for a refund and also asked who am I giving my key too but the owner or whoevers number it is on the site just ignored me so I had no choice to leave the key in the room and left the latch off so there could get there key , I txt the owner to tell him I had to do this so he knew the situation and he just ignored me , I knew he was there cos it said he was online in WhatsApp so just proved he blatantly ignored me , so I got no refund for my last 2 nights I won't be staying there ever again and I recommend to every1 don't bother cos terrible staff there was no staff tbh
- Yonas (1/5): Bad - Nothing at all Nothing
- Moshood (1/5): very poor - Location 1. Deceptive picture of the apartment posted online to deceive people
2. Poor customer care
3. I had to stay outside the apartment for hours before someone could pick my call
4. Management not organized
- Paul (7/5): Good -
- Waterhouse (10/5): Exceptional -
- Waterhouse (10/5): Exceptional - Cheap and clean no TV but what you want for 35 a night
- Verified traveler (6/5): Dissatisfied - There were hairs in the bed and in the bathroom, food stuff left in cupboards. Sofa had no seat cushions on it so was very uncomfortable.
- David (6/5): - They advertised breakfast included it was not .. in fact it was located at Trigg hall Claremont misrepresent plus tv had no sat reception but the caretaker was helpful
