Guest Reviews
- Maggie (9/5): A brief visit but very enjoyable - Clean, peaceful, comfortable Nothing
- christine (10/5): Excellent - Excellent good choice of food We had no problems
- martin (5/5): - Nice location in a parkland within 10 minutes walk of Sidmouth It felt rather sad..and frankly had the feel of a retirement home. I wouldn’t stay there again….No fault of the hotel, but I am not ready to stay in an old folks home yet.
- Paul (8/5): -
- Gary (10/5): Another great holiday at Hunters Moon - This was our fourth stay at Hunters Moon and once again everything was excellent.Location is perfect set back from the main town are in a parkland
.Bedrooms are spacious with modern facilities. All meals offer variety and wide choice and attractively presented
Many of the guests have stayed their before which is an endorsement in itself.
Ultimately it's the people who manage and work in the hotel that count and without exception are excellent.. Nothing
- Richard Anthony (8/5): Had a nice stay - all was ideal for what we expected, will return bar area could have been better
- Alison (6/5): It felt like a luxury care home. - It was in a good location and set in lovely grounds. It was lovely but tired.
- Carolyn (10/5): Highly recommend! - Great hotel, beautiful property, nice room and excellent food. The room was a little light for sleeping with hall light and emergency escape lights keeping the room too light.
- R Anderson (10/5): Strongly recommended, lovely property, excellent breakfast, great location. - Breakfast was excellent, room was comfortable and the property itself was quite beautiful and very near the charming town of Sidmouth. We would stay there again. No complaints about this one.

- JEFFREY (9/5): Very relaxing quiet stay, , gardens are beautiful Staff very friendly. Location perfect., - Breakfast was excellent. This is just a suggestion. Perhaps signing for drinks at the bar could save confusion when paying bill.

- Rob (9/5): - Gardens
- Susan (10/5): - Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent food

- Peter (8/5): -
- mary (7/5): Enjoyed the location and surrounding area - Breakfast was very good, with plenty of choice and variety.
Location, good within walking distance to most amenities, shops, eateries, beach etc The hotel itself was abit tired. Noise from the floor above. The toilet bowl and toilet brush were not very clean.
- Bernadette (9/5): -
- Tinna69 (9/5): - The hotel is located in a beautiful small park, just outside the centre of Sidmouth. WE requested a twin room and got a nice and quiet room. Breakfast was good and the shower hot. Friendly staff. As indicated by others, this is a hotel for older couples, but it guarantees a quiet and peaceful environment
- Arnold (10/5): Really nice break at a great hotel. - Numerous charging points for our EV. Friendly welcoming staff. Good sized comfortable room, very clean as was all of the hotel. Really good breakfast options and the same at dinner with an extensive menu. In summary, highly recommended. Nothing to complain about.
- Brian (9/5): -
- jean (8/5): Very hood - Very good
- Mervyn (9/5): An excellent choice for a short visit to Sidmouth. - Very friendly and helpful staff, excellent breakfast, comfortable room with everything working (eg hot water in bathroom, television etc). Easy access to town and beach. Rooms with bath available. We have visited several times before, as have most of guests. Our expectations were met in full.
- Jackie (10/5): Relaxing hotel in lovely setting. - The hotel is in beautiful gardens and it’s a lovely walk into sidmouth. The rooms were clean and bright and the bed very comfortable. The staff were very helpful and the whole stay was very relaxing. There were no negatives and we will stay again at the hotel
- Richard (8/5): - Staff were really friendly and polite. Great location, parking available.
- Bridget (10/5): Peace and tranquility. - The whole of stay from beginning to end was lovely. The staff were excellent, attentive, efficient, our room was exceptional with lovely garden view, gardens were lovely such a peaceful place. N/A
- Maurice (8/5): Almost perfect....almost! - The staff, food, location, grounds. Bathroom window didn't open which, together with the fan not working, made the room rather steamy. The bed was ok for me but too hard for my wife.
- Jennifer (10/5): A lovely hotel with warm and welcoming staff. - It’s situation and the historic connections. Beautiful gardens. A warm and friendly welcome from the staff. Breakfast was excellent. Creaking floorboards above room 33.
- Rainer (9/5): Very comfortable hotel, excellent location and Sidmouth is delightful! - Room was very comfortable, lovely beds. Bathroom was huge and though it was a shower over bath (not our favourite) it was P shaped with loads of space and strong hand holds. Having a small balcony with table and chairs overlooking the garden was a bonus. Breakfast was excellent - sensibly you choose items for a full English (inc fish) rather than barter. Its a dog friendly hotel but you cannot take your furry friend in the restaurant so we couldn't eat there, though this wasn't a problem for us, plenty of eateries in Sidmouth! However, breakfast for us and our dog was served in the bar where there were only 2 tables...the first morning we had to wait 25 mins for a table :(
- Burrows (10/5): Very relaxing - Everything about the hotel spot on.the food and the welcome and grounds was fantastic Nothing
- Phillip (8/5): - Food very good We had to run the taps in room 14 for ages before they produced hot water
- Samantha (6/5): pleasant stay - the room was pleasant, Parking was easy , easy to walk into Sidmouth. Staff were good bathroom a bit tired. Main corridors of the hotel are also tired. The breakfast was ok but just ok.
- Colin (9/5): Great place to stay in Sidmouth - Great room and location of hotel in relation to Sidmouth town centre. Very professional and efficient staff. Plenty of parking. Could do with more lighting at off road access to hotel drive, as returning on foot after dark is not safem
- Stephen (8/5): Would recommend and stay there again - Staff lovely. Pretty location. Very close to town centre. Lovely grounds. Warm hotel, everything worked. Comfortable. Quiet. Super breakfasts. Tap a little stiff. Decor maybe a bit tired in places but these things didnt matter as so much was good.
- S (8/5): Comfortable and peaceful location. - Friendly staff. Easy parking (on the grass). Easy check in. Good breakfast. Nice grounds, Rooms were a little tired but well enough appointed so perfectly acceptable.
- John (10/5): - Lovely hotel and the very friendly and helpful hotel staff. Fantastic breakfast.
- Adam (9/5): Super hotel, excellent staff and wonderful grounds; a real find - Staff so welcoming, lovely atmosphere and breakfast very high quality Nothing

- Jones (10/5): Wonderful weekend break at Hunters Moon hotel. Friendly, clean and excellent position for a short walk to the seafront. - Beautiful house and gardens. Friendly clean and great positioned in Sidmouth , being a 15 min walk to the sea front.
- Amanda (9/5): Fabulous - Fabulous hotel. Lovely room. Friendly staff. Perfect location. Very quiet. Great breakfast. The only mild fault was my shower was Luke warm.
- Suzie (10/5): - This is our second visit to this hotel.
Highly recommend the Hunters Moon.
Staff very friendly, rooms lovely.
The breakfast cooked to order rather than a buffet style.
Great location for surrounding places to visit.
You must visit the donkey sanctuary!
Will stay here again. Nothing
- David (9/5): We would come again. A lovely hotel - Rooms spotless and well maintained. Bed was comfortable and bathroom looked brand new and immaculate.
Breakfast had everything! From the cereals, fruit, to the range of cooked. The staff were friendly and helpful. Not much to say here. We were “encouraged out of our room” one morning after breakfast, by the cleaner!
- Beverly (9/5): -
- susan (10/5): - A little gem! Wonderful polite, friendly staff, great location, fantastic food. Beautiful garden to sit in.
- Mark (9/5): A pleasurable experience all round - The hotel had a lovely feel. Nice period property with beautiful garden/grounds.
Parking easy. Staff were super friendly and attentive.
Evening meal in the dining room exceeded our expectations. It was delicious and extra portions of veg and potatoes were offered. We felt prices were also good.
In the morning breakfast also as good if not better than many others we have had.
Would recommend to friends and family.
It was within walking distance to the coast (but we drove on this occasion) I found the shower over the bath a little tricky to operate and get just right. But managed eventually. My wife managed it better than me.
- Michael (9/5): Simply lovely - Really wonderful place with lovely people and excellent food (that frankly was cheaper than it should be!). In addtion, they have 20 places for charging EVs!
- Gerard (10/5): Absolutely wonderful venue, so relaxing, best nights sleep in years - It felt like I was staying with friends in their countryside retreat near the sea
- Eileen (10/5): I went away for relaxation to be and not do. This country house hotel made it happen. - From owner Martyn to staff Annabelle, Sheila, Julie , Luna and Jacob… the cleaning staff and wonderful Chefs…everything everyone was so friendly, kind supportive. The dining room was just stunning! The dinner menu changed each night leaving you with many choices: vegetarian, vegan, gluten reduced, fish mains and meats! The starters were beautifully presented and yummy! Desserts were wow !
My single room was perfect. They have amazing toiletries that were available to use in your bath.
The walk into town was 10 min away . I had a massage at Green Room on High street..was fab! Walking by river Nid was blissful and walking through the Meadows filled with Daffodils was calming.the beach walk was lovely and all the shops were great! I also visited the nearby Donkey Sanctuary charity very calming and beautiful. Nothing really
- James (9/5): -
- Ted (8/5): -
- linda (10/5): Excellent service & friendly staff. Delicious cooked breakfast served in a luxurious Georgian room. - breakfast & service was excellent. The room was amazing. The hotel wasn't doing dinner at the time we stayed. The gardens were lovely leading down to the river and parkland. Located A short stroll to the village centre. We will return. Shame they were not open for evening dinning until later in the year.
- Judith (7/5): -
- Karen (10/5): -
- Chris (9/5): - Wonderful location with easy walking distance of town and the esplanade.
Beautiful Georgian building in grounds with easy access to parkland walks.
Charming and friendly staff.
Comfy double & great breakfast.
Will be returning to try full board.
- Jacqueline A (10/5): -
- Michelle (10/5): Fabulous hotel in a quiet location - Staff are lovely, comfortable hotel in beautiful quiet surroundings. Nice walk into the town/beach. Breakfast fantastic with a great choice Nothing

- Jo (9/5): A very comfortable stay, lovely surroundings. - Cleanliness, decoration, warmth and comfort. Very polite helpful staff.

- Michael (9/5): Ideal location for a quiet short stay. - Delightful room overlooking the garden. Staff very attentive and food very good value with nice touches such as coffee and mints in the lounge after dinner. For a short stay could not ask for anything more.
- david (10/5): Could not ask or better. - We had a very relaxing time, revisited old memories, walking thro` the park which we used to use when we lived further along the coast. For all the reasons we have listed, we will use it again. This was our 59th wedding anniversary. nothing!
- Robert (10/5): Would definitely stay here again - The staff were very welcoming
The hotel was very clean and presented lovely
The breakfast was excellent and lots of choices to choose from
Would definitely stay here again
A 5 minute walk to the beach Couldn’t find anything we didn’t like about this hotel
- Christopher (9/5): Staff were extremely helpful - nothing was too much trouble. We would recommend a stay here. - The food was amazing and plentiful.
The gardens and seating arrangements in garden We felt that the time set for the evening meal was too short and too early (6.30~7.30pm)
Unfortunately, there is no lift and we were unable to secure a ground floor room - both use sticks!
- Jackie (9/5): -
- Philip (8/5): A very enjoyable holiday. - Excellent choice and well cooked. The coffee served after dinner was weak and rather tasteless.
- Kim (7/5): -
- Carol (7/5): - The breakfast was very good. Plenty of choice and was served warm.
Great location. Was able to walk into Sidmouth.
Bicton Park is only a short drive away and well worth the visit. The shower was not the best. First use ended up with a wet floor.
- Sheila (8/5): A lovely hotel with character. - The breakfast was good with choice of continental style items for self serve and then table service for a more substantial breakfast. The grounds are lovely and you can sit out side with a drink or play a game of putting. You can easily walk into Sidmouth and along the Byes so excellent location.
- iddon (9/5): - Lovely breakfast. Vegetarian needs catered for Nothing
- tricia (9/5): Beautiful, friendly and will be back - Beautiful building and grounds and a short stroll to Sidmouth town/ sea front. Just the pillows!

Breakfast was a feast with a lovely selection and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Our twin room had a sweet little terrace overlooking the gorgeous gardens. We would definitely stay again.
- katie (10/5): Brilliant - Great location Nothing - it’s great- straight out of Agatha Christie
- matt (8/5): -
- valerie (10/5): -
- Vanda (10/5): - Great welcome , good food , comfy beds We think the man in the room above may have had a bad back , kept walking around for hours in the evening and kept us awake. Creaky floorboards to be expected but felt sorry for the man so didn't complain . Saw him at breakfast still walking around , not the Hotel's fault
- Catherine (9/5): - Lovely location and grounds and comfortable hotel
- David (10/5): Really enjoyable - hopefully we’ll be back. - Location, gardens & chickens Nothing
- Michael (9/5): Lovely stay - Absolutely lovely stay with very friendly and hospitable team. We had dinner also which was excellent and I recommend. We were in town for a function but now want to come back. Everything was great but maybe the mattress was past its best.

- Sian (6/5): Convenient for what we needed to attend a funeral - Location fine.
Breakfast offered ok but preferred pastries etc to cooked breakfast Thin walls, could hear everything in next room and above
